Kula Shaker, the British psych-rock band renowned for their fusion of Eastern mysticism and Western rock, have been experiencing a vibrant resurgence. Following the release of their seventh studio album, Natural Magick, in 2024, the band has continued to captivate audiences with their unique soundscapes and energetic performances. Natural Magick marked a significant milestone for Kula Shaker, reuniting the original lineup—Crispian Mills, Jay Darlington, Alonza Bevan, and Paul Winter-Hart—for the first time since 1999. The album was lauded for its blend of psychedelic rock, raga influences, and pop sensibilities, earning praise from critics and fans alike. Tracks like “Gaslighting” and “Waves” exemplify the band's ability to craft infectious melodies layered with spiritual and philosophical themes. Building on this momentum, Kula Shaker released the single “Charge of the Light Brigade” in April 2025, serving as a precursor to their forthcoming eighth studio album. This track showcases the band's continued evolution, featuring a heavy sound achieved without electric guitars, relying instead on acoustic instruments and innovative production techniques. The song's thematic elements draw from historical and mythological references, adding depth to its sonic intensity. The accompanying music video for “Charge of the Light Brigade” further amplifies the song's impact, presenting a gothic-psychedelic visual narrative that complements the track's haunting atmosphere. Filmed in a church setting, the video intertwines elements of folklore and spiritual symbolism, reinforcing the band's penchant for blending music with mysticism. In support of their recent releases, Kula Shaker embarked on a UK tour in 2025, performing alongside Ocean Colour Scene. The tour, which included multiple sold-out dates, reaffirmed the band's enduring appeal and their ability to deliver electrifying live performances. Fans can anticipate further announcements regarding international tour dates and the release of their upcoming album. For those eager to experience Kula Shaker's latest work, Natural Magick is available in various formats, including vinyl and CD. The album encapsulates the band's signature sound while introducing fresh elements that reflect their artistic growth. As Kula Shaker continues to explore new musical territories, their commitment to creating immersive and thought-provoking music remains unwaveringhttps://news.kulashaker.co.uk/

"Natural Magick" Formed in the mid '90s in London, Kula Shaker emerged as one of the most dynamic and engaging musical acts around. Mixing psychedelia with traditional Indian music and pop, Kula Shaker tore it up right out of the gate, with their debut album K hitting #1 and making them immediate superstars. Over the course of their career they played Glastonbury, T in the Park, the V Festival, and they supported Oasis at their legendary Knebworth shows. Singer Crispian Mills is the grandson of the Academy Award Winning actor Sir John Mills and the son of director Roy Boulting and actress Hayley Mills, who you might remember from the 1961 film The Parent Trap. Mills got into ancient Sanskrit texts as a young man and carried their wisdom into his adulthood. He also got into psych music as well as The Doors. He's played with X-Ray Spex and appeared on the Prodigy's The Fat Of The Land album and when Kula Shaker were on hiatus, he played in a band called The Jeevas. Also, he's a writer and director; he wrote and helmed the Simon Pegg film A Fantastic Fear Of Everything and has other projects in the works. With Kula Shaker he's put out six marvelous albums, including K, Pilgrim's Progress, 1st Congregational Church of Eternal Love and Hugs and their brand new one, Natural Magick. A riveting return to form, Natural Magick finds the original Kula Shaker lineup reunited and the results are stunning--this album is an energetic blast of psych pop redolent with rich hooks, textured instrumentation and melodies galore. Hoy repasamos su historia. 🏵️ 🙏Espacio patrocinado por: CARMEN VENTURA, NORBERTO BLANQUER, JORDI, ROSA RIVAS, INFESTOS, 61 GARAGE, MR.KAFFE, ISRAEL, TOLO SENT, ANXO, RAUL SANCHEZ, VICTORGB, EDUARDO MAYORDONO, BARON72, EDUARDO VAQUERIZO, LIP, ALEJANDRO GOMEZ, DANI RM, JOCIO, AYTIRO SAKI, MARCOS, PABLO ARABIA, CARLOS CONSEGLIERI, JEKY LOSABE, CESMUNSAL, LARUBIAPRODUCCIONES, RUBIO CARBÓN, PILAR DÍEZ, ALFONSO MOYA, JON LÓPEZ, FERNANDO MASERO, RODRIGO GUADIÁN, DOMINGO SANTABÁRBARA, JOSE MIGUEL, ALEXANDER CASTAÑEDA, ANTO78, JULMORGON, JUANMI, MIGUEL BLANCO, JUAN CARLOS ACERO, GIULIA GOVERNI, PERE PASQUAL, SPINDA RECORDS, FRANC PUERTO y varios oyentes anónimos. ¡¡GRACIAS!! Welcome to episode #21 of the XS Noise Music Podcast with Mark Millar. On This weeks show Mark Millar is joined by Kula Shaker front-man Crispian Mills to talk about the 20th anniversary reissue of their debut album "K" and the forthcoming live shows. Following the release of their latest album K 2.0 earlier this year, Kula Shaker have announced a 20th Anniversary Edition of their debut album ‘K' for release on BMG on 28th October 2016. With a blend of 60s rocking, Britpop and Indian mysticism, ‘K' was born from the influences of George Harrison, The Grateful Dead, The Kinks, Deep Purple and the Doors. The album combined an onslaught of volume, overdriven guitars, and catchy melodies resulting in an album that remains an excellent blast of colourful neo-psychedelia. It produced four classic hit singles ‘Grateful When You're Dead', ‘Tattva', ‘Hey Dude' and ‘Govinda' which still receive regular airplay today. The band will be playing the album in its entirety at the dates alongside songs from their following four albums. The release is a celebration of a stunning debut (which stormed to No.1 on its release – the fastest selling debut of the year – and went on to sell over two million copies worldwide) – but also reminds us of a great British band who, on their reformation have continued to excite and inspire fans all over the world. Far from gazing at the past, their confidence and continued success means they can commemorate this fantastic part of their history whilst forging ahead with new and innovative music and plans. This weeks featured track is from The Sailmakers

Pegg tells us a little bit about Star Trek 2, The World's End and Nick Frost's dance moves, while Weide delivers an Allen impersonation that'll knock your socks off. Elsewhere, we've got plenty of movie news and reviews for you to enjoy, not to mention the podcast debut of the one and only Ian Freer.
