People lie, cheat, steal and even kill for a variety of reasons, one of which is to go motor racing, a particularly expensive and egotistical sport. This intriguing book, the result of years of research, encompasses not just those who have been ‘driven to crime' in order to pay for their sport but also characters within motor racing who have been involved in wrongdoing, sometimes through no fault of their own. Over 60 true stories cover webs of deceit and numerous crimes including drug trafficking, corruption, embezzlement, robbery, fraud, murder and money laundering. The author investigates misdemeanours at all levels, from drivers, designers and mechanics to team owners, entrants and sponsors. This book will appeal not only to motor racing enthusiasts and cognoscenti on both sides of the Atlantic but also to anyone who enjoys reading about crime.

Chaos reigns on the battlefield of Agincourt, where Pistol encounters a French soldier and spares his life in exchange for his money, thanks to the assistance of the bilingual Boy who has trailed him from England. Fortune eventually turns against France, and Dauphin, Orleans, Bourbon and Constable mourn their fate. Henry learns of the death of the Duke of York, who led the vanguard against the French army, as Fluellen and Gower lament the slaughter of the children who were left to guard their luggage, including the Boy who had accompanied Pistol. Henry is enraged by their senseless deaths, vowing to finish the fight without mercy. Finally, Montjoy arrives to give word of France's surrender. As he celebrates with Fluellen, Henry spots Williams, the soldier he'd quarreled with while visiting his troops incognito the night before. Henry summons Williams and reveals himself as the adversary he vowed to fight. Williams is contrite, but Henry rewards his pluck and valor with a glove full of coins. At last, the tally of the dead is brought to the King, and together he and his nobles marvel at their lopsided victory. Outside the French village of Corbie, Gower and Fluellen meet a fiery Pistol, who asks Fluellen to beg leniency from Exeter on behalf of Bardolph, who has been sentenced to death for stealing from a church. Fluellen refuses and Pistol storms off, enraged. King Henry arrives to learn that the English have kept control of a strategically valuable bridge. He also learns of the death of his old friend Bardolph, and promises that all such offenders will get the same punishment. Soon after, a French Ambassador, Montjoy, arrives to deliver a warning to King Henry from the King of France: Turn back now or die. Henry responds that he will march on, and if they try to stop him, he'll soak the ground with French blood. Later that night, in the French camp outside Agincourt, Constable, Bourbon and Orleans tease the Dauphin about his love for his horse, and joke about him after he leaves. A messenger arrives to tell them the English are lurking very near their tents, but they shrug off the threat, confident of their strength and numbers. Only Bourbon expresses any sense of foreboding. The Chorus describes Henry visiting his soldiers at their tents and lookouts, boosting their morale. A look inside the Process of Lake Arts Project and how they build bridges through bereavement ™, filmed on location at The Visionary during their residency, Summer 2022, interview hosted by Bernadette Winters Bell,LMSW PLLC. Annually, Lake Arts Project (2013 - present) brings together community groups and arts educators to workshop, cleanse, share, and then create. Collaborators include Feast of Crispian, a non-profit organization that brings professional actors and veterans together to strengthen the emotional resources they need to overcome trauma and reintegration issues. Lake Arts Project also works with high school art students, including THE ALLIANCE SCHOOL OF MILWAUKEE, a year-round school and a safe place for students regardless of sexuality, identity, appearance, ability, or beliefs. The St. Crispin's Day speech from Henry V By William Shakespeare King Henry V: What's he that wishes so? My cousin Westmoreland? No, my fair cousin: If we are mark'd to die, we are enow To do our country loss; and if to live, The fewer men, the greater share of honour. God's will! I pray thee, wish not one man more. By Jove, I am not covetous for gold, Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost; It yearns me not if men my garments wear; Such outward things dwell not in my desires: But if it be a sin to covet honour, I am the most offending soul alive. No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England: God's peace! I would not lose so great an honour As one man more, methinks, would share from me For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more! Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host, That he which hath no stomach to this fight, Let him depart; his passport shall be made And crowns for convoy put into his purse: We would not die in that man's company That fears his fellowship to die with us. This day is called the feast of Crispian: He that outlives this day, and comes safe home, Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named, And rouse him at the name of Crispian. He that shall live this day, and see old age, Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours, And say ‘To-morrow is Saint Crispian:' Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars. And say ‘These wounds I had on Crispin's day.' Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages What feats he did that day: then shall our names. Familiar in his mouth as household words Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter, Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester, Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd. This story shall the good man teach his son; And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by, From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remember'd; We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition: And gentlemen in England now a-bed Shall think themselves accursed they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day. Henry V, Act 3 Scene 1. Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more; Or close the wall up with our English dead. In peace there's nothing so becomes a man As modest stillness and humility: But when the blast of war blows in our ears, Then imitate the action of the tiger; Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage; Then lend the eye a terrible aspect; Let pry through the portage of the head Like the brass cannon; let the brow o'erwhelm it As fearfully as doth a galled rock O'erhang and jutty his confounded base, Swill'd with the wild and wasteful ocean. Now set the teeth and stretch the nostril wide, Hold hard the breath and bend up every spirit To his full height. On, on, you noblest English. Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof! Fathers that, like so many Alexanders, Have in these parts from morn till even fought And sheathed their swords for lack of argument: Dishonour not your mothers; now attest That those whom you call'd fathers did beget you. Be copy now to men of grosser blood, And teach them how to war. And you, good yeoman, Whose limbs were made in England, show us here The mettle of your pasture; let us swear That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not; For there is none of you so mean and base, That hath not noble lustre in your eyes. I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips, Straining upon the start. The game's afoot: Follow your spirit, and upon this charge Cry ‘God for Harry, England, and Saint George!' In its most far-reaching measures to stop the spread of coronavirus, Italy is slowing industrial production nationwide, while the hardest-hit region of Lombardy banned any outdoor exercise not on personal property and set distance limits on dog-walking.Franco Locatelli, president of Italy's Higher Health Council, said Sunday that with the new stringent measures announced this weekend, Italy had exhausted all the possible ways it could to limit personal and professional contact. That came as Italy announced that the increase in both infections and deaths had showed the first sign of narrowing in the previous 24 hours."Let's continue to keep social distance,'' Locatelli said. ''Let's adopt these measures, let's manage our behaviour and ... certainly we will get the results we are hoping for.''For most people, the new coronavirus causes only mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever or coughing. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia. More than 95,000 people have recovered, mostly in China. After a week of complaining that too many people were still out and about in Lombardy, authorities in the hardest-hit region with nearly half of Italy's cases and two-thirds of deaths issued the clearest measures yet to close loopholes being leveraged circumvent bans on movement. As of Sunday, the maximum radius for dog walking was set at 200 meters, and all outdoor sport that cannot be practiced at home was banned — not because sports posed a threat, but because people were abusing the freedom of movement.Authorities in Lombardy also raised fines for violators to 5,000 euros ($5,345).The Lombardy moves came just ahead of new measures announced by Premier Giuseppe Conte to slow industrial production in eurozone's third-largest economy and a major exporter to only sectors deemed crucial. The government on Sunday was still drawing up a list for the slowdown, set to take effect early in the week.Locatelli urged anyone whose job would be idled by the new measures to not travel to their hometowns, or risk spreading contagion. He also called on the more than 23,700 Italians with the virus and who were isolated at home to steer clear of family members as outlined by the health ministry, to keep the virus in check.Italy first moved to prevent the virus from arriving in the country by signing an order Jan. 31 shutting down flights to and from China. A day earlier, authorities confirmed that a pair of tourists from Wuhan had tested positive in Rome. Both have since recovered. But it wasn't until Feb. 21 that the first case of locally transmitted COVID-19 was confirmed, in the town of Codogno, southeast of Milan. The town and 10 others, with a total population of 50,000, were immediately isolated. The government on Feb. 22 created the first red zones in the 11 Lombardy towns and the town of Vo' Eugeneo near Padova, with soldiers setting up cordons around the area and residents permitted to leave their homes only for essential activities like shopping. Industrial production was stopped, with rare exception. The next day, Feb. 23, the governors of Lombardy and neighbouring Veneto, where Padua is located, shut down museums, cinemas and theatres. But stores remained open as did restaurants and, until 6 p.m. bars. The closures emptied city centres but appeared to have less impact inhibiting activity in neighbourhoods, suburbs or small towns. Fitness routines moved from closed gyms to outdoor parks. The last two days of Carnival in Venice were cancelled, emptying the city of tourists. Schools and universities were closed in much of the north.By the end of that week, the one-meter distance rule was set for shops and restaurants -- but that was not universally observed. Early the next week, people over 75 years of age were advised to stay at home. Schools were closed until March 15 in all of Italy -- later extended until April 3. Non-urgent court trials were...

I understand why historical reasons lead us to look to scientists, journalists, educators, and legislators for leadership, but they don't know how to lead. They may excel at their crafts, but sharing research however accurate, or stirring controversy, spreading facts and figures, and chasing votes rarely inspire people to change their behavior.I've long looked to Mandela, King, and Gandhi as role models. I'm increasingly looking at leaders who inspire people to act against challenges when they would otherwise feel hopeless, futile, defeated, and complacent.Henry V's speech to the outnumbered British in Agincourt, as Shakespeare recounted, stands the test of time. Now that the science is overwhelming---look at nearly any beach in the world to see we're losing to plastic as just one example---we need motivation and inspiration to act more than more science.I draw on Henry V's sentiment and apply it to our situation. Here's the text:KING HENRY VWhat's he that wishes so?My cousin Westmoreland? No, my fair cousin:If we are mark'd to die, we are enoughTo do our country loss; and if to live,The fewer men, the greater share of honour.God's will! November 7 is October 25 on the Old Julian Calendar, the calendar observed by the Christian Church in Europe up to the 16th Century. On October 25 is celebrated, among many others, the memory of Sts. Crispian and Crispinian, two brothers who were missionaries in Gaul and martyrs under Diocletian's 3rd Century persecutions. What makes this day famous is the battle of Agincourt in France between French and English armies. The English were greatly outnumbered, but were roused to victory by their sovreign King Henry V's encouraging speech. The speech is lost to history, but this story inspired William Shakespeare when he wrote his play Henry V in 1600. His rendition is truly inspiring and has given us an inspiring motto for groups of men doing great things everywhere: Band of Brothers. I missed the occasion to mark this date on the New Calendar last month. Thankfully I was able to meet up with Caleb Wilson, good friend and true brother for breakfast and share this inspiring story and pivotal moment with him. I am also pleased to share it with you via this podcast. Please enjoy. I got this idea from Stephen Mansfield from his GreatMan Podcast: http://greatman.tv/2018/10/23/on-st-crispins-day/ Read more about the back story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Crispin's_Day_Speech#Text

Crispian was born and raised in Wichita, KS (with a year spent in Iowa under the care of a guardian when her mother died when she was 15). She currently lives in Olathe, KS, with her husband, Matt and their dog, Khloe. After high school, she attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS on an academic scholarship and earned both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Social Work. She remained in Lawrence for five years while she began her career in social work, first in Topeka, KS and later in the Kansas City Area, where she moved in 2008. Crispian was a child welfare social worker, primarily in reunification and family preservation, for more than 10 years. Just over four years ago, she began working in Hospice care, where she remains at this time. Crispian is an avid disc golfer and into fitness, recently meditation and yoga, craft beer, her dog, movies with her husband and cooking when she can. At the age of 12 she lost her older sister, Shira, to a car accident; was present when her mother died at the hands of her father in a drunken, domestic violence shooting 28 months later; was a victim of a violent sexual and physical assault 17 months after that; and lost her father a month after she got married. Having shared an office space with Crispian Fielke over the last couple of years, we've seen first hand how he and his team have built a city small bar scene. Crispian is co-owner of Clever Little Tailor, one of Adelaide's top bars which regularly gains recognition in the national press and is sought after by local punters like myself, along with slightly bigger names, such as Mick Jagger. He's also co-owner of the iconic Pink Moon Saloon, a bar that has cleaned up national and international awards, including Gourmet Traveller Bar of the Year .. AND .. he's set to open the ambitious Port Admiral Hotel, a pub that had been derelict for many years in Port Adelaide. For Crispian, this life is about much more than business, it is deeply personal. His passion for hospitality started in his home town of Loxton, is tied to his love for people and local footy culture, and evolved as he built a career in fine dining locally and internationally. It was one conversation with his mate, Josh Baker, that changed everything. Tune in and enjoy the dulcet tones of Crispian Fielke. Rooster Radio is hosted by Andrew Montesi and James Begley.
