The Bamboos, Power Without GreedChristone "Kingfish" Ingram, 662Deb Ryder, I'm Coming HomeJoyann Parker, Come on Baby (Take Me Dancing)Joanna Connor, Trouble TroubleMaggie Rose, You Got TodayRosedale Junction, Chasin' the Devil BluesThe Hungry Williams, Get Your HatSteve Cropper, Fire It UpYola, Great DivideValerie June, Call Me A FoolJohn Paul Keith, The Sun's Gonna Shine AgainCharley Crockett, I Need Your LovePaul Stanley's Soul Station, I, Oh I

Deb Ryder's life is in itself a history of the Blues and R and B in Los Angeles. Her father was the owner of a blues club and Deb walked and talked and kicked off the band for the likes of Big Joe Turner as well as other luminaries in the Blues and R and B. We discuss her new album Memphis at Midnight as well as other topics on Blues and Music!!!!
Ghost Hounds, Half My FaultBonnie Raitt, Green LightsLos Lobos, Every Boy, Every GirlThe Nils, That's AlrightBrinsley Schwarz, Storm In The HillsBrinsley Schwarz, He takes your breath awayBishop Gunn, Nothing To LoseAriel Posen, Did You See It ComingNathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, SurvivorCruzados, Long Black CarDeb Ryder, Just Be CarefulDeb Ryder, I'm Coming HomeDirty Honey, The WireChris Stapleton, Nothing Else Matter Visita nuestro Facebook y déjanos tus peticiones, comentarios, canciones...O escríbenos un email aquí.

Making a Scene Presents an Interview with Deb RyderShe began singing at the age of five joining her Dad, crooner Al Swanson on stage at several popular venues and churches in the Chicago area. Deb's musical career began in her early teens when her mother moved the family to California and along with her stepfather, opened the renowned Rock and Blues club the Topanga Corral. There she opened for and performed with such legends as Etta James, Big Joe Turner, Taj Mahal and Canned Heat, all regulars at the club. These artists mentored Ryder, and it was then that her vision of herself as a singer, songwriter and performer began to take shape. Neighbor Bob Hite of Canned Heat took Deb under his wing and carefully selected records from his vast collection to school her in blues music. Miss Etta James who regularly stayed at the house, took time working with Ryder on her vocals and song writing telling her one day “You got it, now you're singing and writing the blues!” These affirmations from her mentors set Deb firmly on her musical path.
Legs has a chat with Deb Ryder to see what she's been up to for the past couple of years.

All Couch Kids this show… Dave Keller starts us off with his new album Right Back Atcha, the followup to his BMA Nominated Soul Changes. For this one, Dave brought in his guys, recorded it in Vermont and produced it himself. Can’t wait to find out what Dave has been up to since his last visit and to talk about the recording of this album. Sugar Ray Norcia will be coming by to talk about the last 5 years since he sat on The Couch. He and The Sugartones have a new album out entitled Seeing Is Believing and we’ll talk about that while we check out some tunes. Justin Johnson returns to The Couch to talk about his latest release If Walls Could Talk album set. The album, behind the scenes DVD and included booklet are the next step in the evolution of this talented songwriter, singer and guitarist. Always a great talk with Justin. Finally Deb Ryder returns to talk about her new release, Grit Grease & Tears. This third album contains 13 original songs. It is a testament to the amount this stirring vocalist. Deb and I will talk about her world and what is next for her.

SHOW # 269 - Live, Uncut & Uncensored Conversations With "Musicians You Should Know" All about the women tonight! Eliza Neals is from Detroit and her new album is Breaking and Entering, a collection of rocking blues numbers. I'll speak with Eliza and explore her history and the road that led to this new album and music. Regina Bonelli comes to The Couch from Kool Breeze who suggested I check out the music from this Brooklyn, NY native. Her debut album is entitled Open Up The Door and the original songs all tell the story of this woman's journey to becoming the "reigning queen of NYC Blues" as she was dubbed by Big City Rhythm & Blues Magazine. Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar released their full-length album, The Nightingale, back in February and it has caught the attention of many a Blues, Soul and Gospel fan since then. Out of Canada, Martin's skill on acoustic and resonator guitars are evident throughout and the vocals of Delta Sugar add another level to the band's sound. I'll speak with Samantha about her life and music. Couch Kid Deb Ryder returns to talk about her new release Let It Rain. The album is loaded with stellar musicians contributing to the sound that is unique to this fine vocalist. All 11 songs are originals and they prove that Deb's skills as a songwriter continue to grow as she does.

This edition of The Roadhouse is two-thirds full of artists who do things by themselves - truly independent self-released blues. Deb Ryder, Michigan Curve, Sean Chambers, Snarky Dave & The Prickly Bluesmen, and Little Miss Higgins & the Winnipeg Five lead the way with music they're released on their own. Along with some well-known blues names, these artists defintely make the 454th Roadhouse another hour of the finest blues you've never heard.
