This talk shed light on the relationship between artists and management, uncovering how the two work together. What do managers look for in an emerging artist? How do they build a career strategy for the artists they represent? How do they protect the best interest of their artists? This talk presented vital information for artists considering working with a manager and how to develop their career in the music industry.Bekah Molony is the head of D07 Artists, a Dublin based artist management, bookings and live event agency that represents and works with some of Ireland's most exciting talent. With an undergrad in Event Management, a Masters in Emerging Media and as a Keychange alumni, Bekah's successful music industry career also includes programming exciting projects for brands and sharing knowledge as an industry speaker as she continues to create opportunities for the current and future creatives of Ireland. With over 15 years of experience working in the music industry, Conor Cusack has held a variety of roles across the independent sectors in Dublin, Berlin, and London. He brings his experience in music retail, recorded music, live, event production, product management, charity, and arts consultancy to his long standing career as an artist manager. Conor has managed artists professionally for over 10 years, both independently and as part of London based management firm ie:music. In 2023, he set up his own business, No Bother, a boutique Artist Management & Music Consultancy business. No Bother was set up to oversee the careers of a small number of highly progressive, and forward-thinking artists (Morgana, Saint Sister) and work closely with a small number of consultancy clients to help them achieve their creative and commercial goals. In his spare time he makes techno and plays in an Indie band called DIVIL.Gavin Elsted is an artist manager, label owner and DJ from Newbridge. In Ep. 162 of Earned, CreatorIQ CMO Brit Starr sits down with Emily Hare, Global Influencer Lead and Anna O'Mahony, Global Lead, Content and Innovation at Publicis. To start, we dive into the transformative landscape of creator marketing and influencer strategies. As we chart the course for 2025, marked by significant agency consolidations and acquisitions, Anna and Emily reveal the pivotal role of creators in redefining brand strategies. The duo highlights the necessity of establishing a "center of excellence" in content creation, merging storytelling with journalism to craft narratives that resonate on both global and local scales. We explore the fusion of technology and creativity and examine how agencies are transitioning into comprehensive technology partners, emphasizing a content-focused approach in influencer marketing. Switching gears, Emily and Anna underscore the importance of understanding audience dynamics and maintaining brand consistency while engaging localized influencers. To close the show, the duo also offers insights into the evolving nature of creator partnerships, stressing fair pricing, long-term relationships, and the significance of dynamic playbooks that adapt to market shifts. In this episode, you'll learn: The role of creator marketing is shifting, and brands are rethinking how they collaborate. While influencers can do it all, the real question is where they create the most impact.  Agencies are evolving alongside brands, integrating influencer marketing more deeply into media strategies. The industry is seeing more consolidation, technology adoption, and a shift toward content-first approaches—where the value lies in the work itself, not just the creator's following. Standardizing creator compensation remains a challenge, but brands are getting smarter. With better benchmarks and long-term partnerships, companies are moving toward sustainable, mutually beneficial collaborations. This non-deterministic nature enables creativity but also raises issues with reliability and accuracy. Educators should keep this in mind when having students interact with AI-driven tools in the learning experience.Immersive technology like XR and AI is on the verge of delivering "holodeck"-like experiences. The combination of AI and XR tools can create real-time, interactive simulations for collaboration and learning. These systems could allow users to explore environments from historical settings to molecular structures. Imagine how immersive learning can become with this technology! Thanks to AI, modeling and scenario planning are becoming democratized, empowering organizations to anticipate diverse futures. When you think about a political campaign ad or marketing, your mind probably doesn't go straight to TikTok and Instagram. Most of the U.S. population grew up with an onslaught of television or radio ads during election season. But social media has brought a new dimension to reaching voters. And for the first time, it seems that campaigns are doing it well. The Kamala Harris campaign account known as Kamala HQ has 3.4 million followers and more than 75 million likes across all of their videos on TikTok. By comparison, Team Trump, the Trump campaign TikTok account has 210,000 followers and nearly 200,000 likes, though Trump does have more than 7 million followers on Truth Social. To understand how social media is playing a new role in reaching voters, MPR News reached out to April Eichmeier, an assistant professor of Emerging Media at the University of St. Thomas who is an expert on political messaging.

Artists across disciplines have harnessed generative AI as mind-extenders, expanding the possibilities of their work, and unleashing new ways to see the world. But as bots get more adept at human-like thought, writers, actors, and others protest in lawsuits and on picket lines, asking: What's left for artists? Should tech companies be allowed to use existing art to train AI engines? Who gets credit—and paid—for AI-assisted creative work? What do we lose when machine brains take over aspects of our creativity, once a defining feature of humanity? And, tantalizingly, what do we gain? Political scientists have argued that Donald Trump exacerbated long-simmering changes in polarization, populism, and other aspects of politics. In their book News After Trump: Journalism's Crisis of Relevance in a Changed Media Culture (Oxford University Press, 2021), Matt Carlson, Seth C. Lewis, and Sue Robinson, argue that Trump's candidacy and presidency did the same in journalism. The question now is, how do news organizations move forward and continue to deliver informational value to the public at a time when they're just one of many information sources people see? Taking an expansive view of the contemporary media and political environment during the Trump years, News After Trump portrays a media culture in transition. As journalism's very relevance comes to be increasingly questioned, the authors focus on how different actors — from Trump to small-town newspaper editors — use their cultural power to define journalism, assess its value, and question what the news should look like. This conversation is especially important as news organizations continue to grapple with their role in standing up for democratic norms and values. Matt Carlson is associate professor at the Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Minnesota.  Seth C. Lewis is founding holder of the Shirley Papé Chair in Emerging Media in the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon.
