I met my guest today in Club Med Playa Blanca in 1997 when he was a G.M. and I was a Landsports G.O. It is because of this podcast that he reached out to me roughly 25 years later. He said that meeting me and the Rock Climbing G.O. in Playa Blanca, Claude Gagnon, inspired him to apply to Club Med. His first season was in Club Med Ixtapa in May of 1997 as an Archery G.O., with “Toutoune” as the CDV and “Godo” as the Chief of Sports. From Montreal and now living in Alberta, please help me welcome to the show, Rich Reichman!! Rich only did one season in Club Med and explains why at the end of the interview. Luckily for us, he has a very vivid memory of that first season! Rich is kind enough to share a lot of stories with us. Knowing there was not a weight room in Ixtapa, Rich brought two 70-pound detachable dumbbells in his suitcase!! I love this story so much that I asked Rich to not spare any details!! Other stories are Rich getting an archery injury early on in his season (but not what you're thinking), a nerve-wracking sports demonstration set to the tune of Bryan Adams' Everything I Do (I Do It For You), to an animation prank gone awry, to a Fire and Water show wardrobe malfunction, to hanging out with Blair Underwood, Rich has got some stories! For the last 14 years, Rich has been a Unit Manager in the ER, ICU, CCU, Medicine, and Operating Room and is currently in Endoscopy and we talk a little about that. Blair the nurse in Ixtapa was partly Rich's inspiration for becoming a nurse himself and we delve into that as well. We talk about the 3 things he misses the most about Club Med and his favorite Crazy Sign. If you were a 90s G.O., then this episode is for you! Please enjoy this interview with Rich! **My First Season podcast has always been ad-free and free to listen to and is available on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Samsung Podcasts, Podbean App, Spotify, Amazon Music/Audible, TuneIn + Alexa, iHeartRadio, PlayerFM, Pandora and Listen Notes. Matt talks about popular classic rock love songs to play on your wedding day - as a first dance, during the ceremony, as a slow dance song, or to accent a moment like cutting the wedding cake. Important Links View the complete list of classic rock love songs. See all Wedding Songs Podcast episodes Podcast Transcript All right let's talk about Classic Rock love songs. These are Classic Rock songs from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Before that time I would consider being oldies and newer then that would be more modern, and as time progresses you could say that the 2000s could be considered classic but only time will give that presence. On our website, MyWeddingSongs.com I do have a list of 60 top Classic Rock songs that you can check out by searching for Classic Rock songs on the website. While you are there make sure you sign up for our monthly newsletter of all the new wedding songs released in the previous month, plus what is trending. That way you get an idea of what songs are popular that maybe you have forgotten about for a little while. Now, of course, I am not going to be covering all 60 songs because that would really bore you to death, but let's go ahead and get started with the first song by U2 and “All I Want Is You”. U2 is one of the greatest bands of all time from Ireland. This song has the lyrics…But all the promises we make, From the cradle to the grave, When all I want is you. Kind of a lovey-dovey song that you can have. Another legendary Classic Rock band is Led Zepplin with their song “All My Love”. I think that a lot of people forget about this song. Lyrics include…His is the force that lies within, Ours is the fire, all the warmth we can find, He is a feather in the wind, All of my love. There are quite a few Bon Jovi songs that I could have selected, but I preferred the song “Always” released in 1994 on their album Cross Road, with the lyrics…‘Til the heavens burst and the words don't rhyme, And I know when I die, you'll be on my mind, And I'll love you, always. From the Hair Band era we have Styx with “Babe” in 1979, and also “Can't Fight This Feeling” by REO Speedwagon in 1984 was a very popular love song. Lyrics included…I've forgotten what I started fighting for, It's time to bring this ship into the shore, And throw away the oars, forever. A very popular love song that was covered by Brian McKnight, and many other artists, is “Crazy Love” by Van Morrison in 1970, with the lyrics…Take away my trouble, take away my grief, Take away my heartache, in the night like a thief, She gives me love, love, love, love, crazy love. You know, everybody thinks of “Every Breath You Take” by The Police, but that is really like a stalking song so not a very good wedding song. Instead, you may consider “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” with the lyrics…I resolved to call her up, A thousand times a day, And ask her if she'll marry me. This song is a mid-tempo song so it is one you can have during the dancing part, even during the cocktail hour or just to keep the mood up. “Every Rose Has It's Thorn” by Poison in 1988 with the lyrics…Just like every night has its dawn, Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song, Every rose has its thorn. The next two songs are very popular first dance songs. One of my best friends had it at his wedding. It is “Everything I Do I Do It For You” by Brian Adams, and “Faithfully” by Journey with those famous lyrics…And lovin' a music man, Ain't always what it's supposed to be, Oh girl you stand by me, I'm forever yours, faithfully. Another very popular love song, released in 1989, is “Have I Told You Lately” by Van Morrison. It was covered by Rod Stewart and include the lyrics…Have I told you lately that I love you, Have I told you there's no one else above you, You fill my heart with gladness. Motley Crue's song “Home Sweet Home” released in 1985 is a great love ballad. Lyrics include…Long and winding road, I'm on my way, I'm on my way, Home sweet home.

The most 90's movies-dedicated merry men are back with a look at 1991's Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.  Jordan's still got a lot of angry arrows in his quiver for Kevin Costner, but at least he's got the incredible Alan Rickman, Christian Slater, Morgan Freeman, and literally every other cast member to tide him over. Meanwhile, when Nic isn't defending Costner's honor, he's listening with great sorrow at the pain he caused Jordan by assigning him 2018's Robin Hood as punishment for last episode's trivia loss. But what hath Nic wrought?! In an attempt to ensure he doesn't lose at trivia again, Jordan unleashes an unfathomable force to fight in his stead: The Sheriff...of Filmshakeingham! Sue Lawley's castaway this week is the leader of the Conservative Party, Michael Howard. He was raised in an orthodox Jewish family in Llanelli, South Wales, where his parents ran ladies' fashion shops. In the Labour-supporting, rugby-playing valleys, the teenage Michael preferred football and his leanings were towards the Conservatives. He propelled himself to Peterhouse College, Cambridge, and was part of the Cambridge mafia that included Kenneth Clarke, Leon Brittan, Norman Lamont and Norman Fowler. But while his contemporaries all entered parliament within a few years of graduating, Michael Howard's journey to Westminster took considerably longer. He first stood as a Conservative candidate in 1966 when he was just 24 years old. He tried again, unsuccessfully, in 1970, but it was not until 1983 - after putting his name forward for dozens of safe seats - that he was chosen as the party's candidate for Folkestone and Hythe and secured a seat in the House of Commons. He says that by the time he was successful, he wondered whether he was too old to make his mark there. But he rose quickly through the ministerial ranks and had secured a place in cabinet before he was 50. He was John Major's Home Secretary for four years - a controversial period that culminated in his former deputy, Ann Widdecombe, saying there was 'something of the night' in his personality. When he stood to be leader of the party in 1997 he came fifth out of five candidates. But eight months ago he was elected, unopposed, the new leader of the party. He told Sue Lawley: 'I was astonished. It was not something I ever thought would happen and if we'd been sitting here a year ago and you'd told me that I'd be sitting here today as leader of the Conservative Party, I have said that you were prone to fantasies'.[Taken from the original programme material for this archive edition of Desert Island Discs]Favourite track: (Everything I Do) I Do It For You by Bryan Adams Book: The Years of Lyndon Johnson by Robert Caro Luxury: A hot shower and some soap
