Join Brent and I as we catch up with him while he was on the road for the first Fiend Without A Face tour in 7 years. Brent talks about what the impetus was for hitting the road again with Fiend, how he booked the whole tour himself after running into some issues trying to get help. Brent also talks about how he's a lifer when it comes to gigging, how there will be more Fiend Without A Face music, as well as some new music from another project he's got in the works. We also get into a bit about one of our favorite bars, El Myr in Atlanta GA. Why it's a home bar for both of us and our love of their signature drink, "Grizz" and more in this quick chat. Throughout movie history, makeup artists have helped create new faces for the silver screen, whether they were just changing their look to creating a new monster never before seen. As the years progressed, what used to only be images we could dream of, these makeup artists help bring them to life, giving generations and generations both a sense of wonder, and nightmares! We decided to go through the cinematic history and discuss different monsters and makeup creations that have amazed and astonished us. And to help us, we figured why not have a guest that has been in the trenches for over three decades, Mr. Gino Crognale! So hit play, sit back and enjoy this trip down memory lane. In this final (honest) episode of our brains in jars season we look at a pair of movies featured chaotic cerebellums causing carnage! First from 1986 we have Canadian horror The Brain, and then from that golden age of sci-fi monster movies, the 1950s, we have the legendary Fiend Without a Face!
The Atomic age is upon Blood on the Tracks this month as all sorts of strange radiation-born monsters are invading the perfect utopia that was the 1950s *cough-cough*. Anyway, it was a great decade to be a sci-fi and horror fan, and it was a decade that produced a lot of great film scores. Lee curates a playlist that reflects some of the best examples of this fact, in his opinion. --Main Title from "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" (1953) --David Buttolph --Main Title & Fury of Godzilla from "Godzilla" (1954) --Akira Ifukube --Blasted Arachnid from "Tarantula" (1955) --Henry Mancini & Herman Stein --Suite from "Beginning of the End" (1957) --Albert Glasser --Orchestral Suite 8 from "The Amazing Colossal Man" (1957) --Albert Glasser --Main Title from "Attack of the Crab Monsters" (1957) --Ronald Stein --Homura Club - Background Music #1 from "The H-Man" (1958) --Masaru Satoh --Main Titles & End Titles from "Fiend Without a Face" (1958) --Buxton Orr --Suite from "The Atomic Submarine" (1959) -- Alexander Laszlo Opening and closing music: Betrayal (Sorcerer Theme) from "Sorcerer" by Tangerine Dream, and My Name & The Departure from "Shanghai Joe" by Bruno Nicolai.

It’s the very 54th episode of Forsaken Cinema Podcast!!! This week, we discuss the new Shudder exclusive “Fried Barry” and all of its depraved, bizarro, psychedelic insanity. There’s lots of junkies, a chainsaw fight, epic tripping balls sequences, public floor shitting, and a whole lotta weird. Yes, obviously we were way into it. We also talk about one of Mel’s very favorite Universal Monster Movies, “The Wolf Man”, and how much of a loveable creep Lon Chaney is in it. This is a great little episode full of discussions about canes, how much Chuck hates old movie music, and Melissa’s deepest fear surfaces again. We hope you freaks dig it!!! ——— Also discussed: “House on Haunted Hill” 1959 “Fiend Without a Face” 1958 “Benny Loves You” 2021 “Come True” 2021 ——— If you dig the show, PLEASE! Now THIS is what we’re talking about! It’s got it all! Fear of nuclear holocaust, fear of military experimentation...cows. Oh, you want more? Well, don’t worry: “Fiend Without A Face” also has invisible, psychokinetic, brain-eating, spinal-fluid-draining, BRAIN MONSTERS. It’s so 50’s sci-fi and so good AND made by British people? We love it, and came around to a double “buy” (our highest praise). Crank up those Canadian, experimental, radioactive waves and get into it! We kick off a boxset of late 50's scifi/horror this week with The First Man into Space. Monsters and Madmen is dedicated to films produced by Richard and Alex Gordon, who also produced Fiend Without a Face which we watched five years ago. Things kick off here with Robert Day's First Man into Space, the tale of an American test pilot who decides to jet into outer space and things do not go well on his return. Very spoopy!
