Greetings from the 9th Circle of Hell! Every now ad then the Lord of WGT Patreon (you should join btw) picks a movie for us to watch and review. And so it came to pass that Lord Hans bestowed us with a choice between the 1997 HBO movie adaptation of Stephen King's The Night Flier, or The Dread Central production, Benny Loves You. As you can see, we decided on the former. Worry not friends, as we of course make sure to address our reasoning behind this critical decision on the episode. Once this this little series of King adaptations is wrapped up we get into the 1980 Ken Russell directed Paddy Chayefsky written psych/scifi horror freakout of ALTERED STATES before weighing in on Ryan Coogler's 2025 genre-mashup runaway hit, SINNERS. “He was wearing a big cloak he was. Red as a fire engine inside, black as a woodchuck's asshole outside. And when it spread out behind him, it looked like a goddamn bat's wing it did. After talking to these crazy people all day every single day, their stories can get to you. Creep in like some fucking cancer and pretty soon, all this starts making sense.” It's the Who Goes There Podcast Episode 433! Join our Patreon to support the show! As a patreon member you get the episodes early, bonus content, and access to our Discord. It also helps us keep doing it. We recently sent out a bunch of exclusive merch too. We're celebrating Halloween this year with a movie that is decidedly more trick than treat, but we invite you to come on the journey with us and decide for yourself! Benny Loves You is the bastard spawn of Child's Play and Toy Story, and while this film doesn't have a serious bone in its body, it is absolutely ruthless and irreverent when it comes to storytelling. The cast of highly unlikeable characters is somewhat balanced out by our adorable, if not slightly stabby, villain, and despite all the innocent blood spilt along the way, we couldn't help rooting for Benny, who just wanted to cuddle and play. Always remember, Benny loves you, and we do, too! Happy Halloween! Don't forget to rate and subscribe! In this episode, we wrap up our special block of episodes exploring the much-discussed and often maligned, but perhaps misunderstood, subgenre of "Elevated" Horror. The final film is David Robert Mitchell's 2018 feature Under the Silver Lake. A curious follow-up to his horror hit It Follows (2014), this neo-noir black comedy weaves a complicated tale following Sam as he struggles between fantastical conspiracy theories and reality while undergoing a personal quest to investigate the disappearance of his neighbor. The gang charts out the many references and celebrates the vibe of old Hollywood throughout the film. Michael dives deep into the silver lake becoming completely enamored with the film. Meanwhile, Jason finds himself less impressed with its particular merits giving some balanced criticism. But before that, Dustin breaks all the rules presenting a rapid-fire account of the many films he managed to check out while on vacation. And so much more! It’s the very 54th episode of Forsaken Cinema Podcast!!! This week, we discuss the new Shudder exclusive “Fried Barry” and all of its depraved, bizarro, psychedelic insanity. There’s lots of junkies, a chainsaw fight, epic tripping balls sequences, public floor shitting, and a whole lotta weird. Yes, obviously we were way into it. We also talk about one of Mel’s very favorite Universal Monster Movies, “The Wolf Man”, and how much of a loveable creep Lon Chaney is in it. This is a great little episode full of discussions about canes, how much Chuck hates old movie music, and Melissa’s deepest fear surfaces again. We hope you freaks dig it!!! ——— Also discussed: “House on Haunted Hill” 1959 “Fiend Without a Face” 1958 “Benny Loves You” 2021 “Come True” 2021 ——— If you dig the show, PLEASE! One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do. Luckily, even though SkeleTony is out this episode, Taylor won't have to do a number one as he enlists the services of Kevin Nesgoda to fill in the role of co-host. Taylor and Kevin tell you the coolest place to find a COVID-19 vaccine... as long as you live in Romania. In Real World Horror, Kevin talks about the Love Has Won cult from Colorado and the curious thing they did with their leader, Mother God. In Horror Business, the boys discuss Robert Egger's new film, Darren Lynn Bousman's plans for the Leprechaun franchise, and a head scratching reboot from a major studio. There's also a look at two sequels that neither of us ever expected. For our film reviews, we talk about Neil Marshall's alleged return to horror with the witch hunt era period piece The Reckoning. We also discuss the off-the-wall killer teddy bear film Benny Loves You. So kick back, grab a cold one, and enjoy another new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast.
