Peter Rauhofer (April 29, 1965 - May 7, 2013) was an Austrian-American House producer, remixer and DJ. Peter was born in Wien (Vienna) and mainly lived in New York City. Peter first got his start as an A&R man for GIG Records. Since his first recording under his well known alias, Club 69, Peter had come to be one of the most in-demand remixers of the late 90's/2000's.Club 69 was one of the most popular alias of Peter Rauhofer in the 1990's. At first, Rauhofer used different aliases to release his music. 'Unique' (1991) was first released under the names Danube Dance (a name he took from a compilation project of the same name released on GiG Records), Unique (16) and Saxmachine. These projects all featured the vocals of Kim Cooper. In 1992, a remix of 'Unique' and the single 'Let Me Be Your Underwear' began to be played in Europe and in North America. Both tracks became instant club hits. He was famous for a variety of his remixes including Cher's "Believe" and a number of Madonna's songs including "Nothing Really Matters", "American Life", "Nothing Fails", "Nobody Knows Me", "Get Together", "Impressive Instant" and "4 Minutes", as well as her collaboration with Britney Spears, "Me Against the Music" and various collaborations with Janet Jackson ("Throb" and "Just A Little While" to name a few). He has also provided remixes for Kylie Minogue, Whitney Houston, Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Yoko Ono, Pink, Tori Amos, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Book Of Love, Soft Cell, Duran Duran and Mariah Carey, among others. He was also behind the tribal house record label Star 69 and was a frequent producer of the label's releases. His style shifted from a house/tribal vibe to a more tribal/progressive feel with his later mixes. There wasn't a time in the late 1990s when one would go to a US club to hear many of his mixes playing through the speakers. Peter has also recorded material under the aliases, Saxmachine, Danube Dance, House Heroes and Size Queen. Peter once worked with Victor Calderone for The Collaboration project and once with the Pet Shop Boys for The Collaboration project. His remix credits are many and include: Depeche Mode, Madonna, Seal, Funky Green Dogs, Kylie Minogue, etc.Rauhofer spun throughout the United States. He was the former resident DJ at the weekly gay dance night held at the Roxy in New York, which closed its doors in 2007. Rauhofer was formerly the resident DJ of the gay dance party called "Work". His party was held weekly at the Stereo nightclub in New York until March 3, 2008 when the City invoked eminent domain and acquired the building. "Work" was a monthly event, despite lacking a permanent venue.Rauhofer was mostly known for spinning tribal house and continued to play many gay circuit party events, and was scheduled to play the ultimate events (White Party Palm Springs and One Mighty Weekend's Magic Journeys at Arabian Nights) prior to his falling ill in February 2013. The Collaboration was a dance music project created by Rauhofer. Rauhofer's first release as The Collaboration was "Do It Properly", a 1999 track produced with Victor Calderone, featuring Deborah Cooper on vocals. The Collaboration moniker was then used by Rauhofer on "Break 4 Love", a number one Hot Dance Music/Club Play hit featuring Pet Shop Boys.Peter Rauhofer (Club 69) won the Grammy Award in 2000 for Best Remixer of the Year for his remix of Cher's "Believe".On April 17, 2013, it was made public that Rauhofer was diagnosed with a brain tumor. A message was posted on his Facebook page by his friend and manager, Angelo Russo, informing friends and fans of the situation. On May 7, 2013, Peter Rauhofer passed away.HEAR THIS! https://www.mixcloud.com/horatioofficial/horatio-preents-ibizaholic-radioshow-episode-52-special-guest-mix-oscar-g/ Save the best for last. I have the honour and privilege to have as guest star in my radioshow the LEGENDARY DJ AND PRODUCER , MR"DARK BEATS" himself, OSCAR G . If you were to get out a map and track the history of house music – with endless lines sprouting from New York, Chicago and Detroit to points all over the world – you'd have to make a big, red circle around Miami, Florida, and start drawing. Miami was never ground zero to a full-fledged subcultural movement. But it is where Oscar Gaetan, better known as Oscar G, has lived every day of his life. And that fact alone makes it a hub on the global underground. An award-winning songwriter, producer, and DJ, Oscar is one of dance music's brightest and most enduring stars. As part of seminal production teams Liberty City, Murk, and Funky Green Dogs, he boasts hits – Billboard chart-toppers as well as underground smashes – in every decade, every trend, and every market. “Some Lovin',” “Fired Up,” and “Dark Beat” are more than just tracks: They are moments, shared by clubbers worldwide. They're the kind of moments Oscar still creates at Space Miami, his hometown superclub, where he's been a resident DJ for a staggering eight years – coming full circle after a globetrotting career. Oscar and longtime friend and production partner Ralph Falcon grew up in a Miami enlivened by the fresh spirit of hip-hop. “Break dancing, graffiti and the music that went along with it: That's really what got me into DJ-ing in the first place,” he says. By the age of 12, he was already spinning at school dances. Oscar and Ralph started working together at the end of high school, blending the sounds of their youth with the beginnings of house, like Ten City and Blaze; and the darker Euro bands of the time, like Depeche Mode and New Order. “We were always big on doing our own sound, with our own feeling and vibe in every aspect of it; from the way we mixed things to the sounds we chose,” says Oscar. “I remember being obsessed with that for years, and then people started to listen.” The early years bore some of the work for which they're still best known, like often imitated, never duplicated vocals “Some Lovin',” “If You Really Love Someone,” and “Reach For Me” (Tribal). Upon their release in 1993, the pair became instant superstars. “Europe kind of grabbed us,” says Oscar, so they spent a good amount of time touring overseas, eventually visiting every major and minor outpost of the global dance scene, including Zouk Singapore, Ministry Of Sound London, and Stereo Montreal. “Fired Up!” (Twisted), their biggest hit ever, followed in 1996. It topped the Billboard Dance chart, and even cracked the Top 100, peaking at No. 80. They would go on to remix countless major pop artists, from Madonna to Cher to Donna Summer; and appear on mainstream outlets like MTV and Top Of The Pops. The boys also cut two complete Funky Green Dogs albums for major label MCA, “Star” (1999) and “Super California” (2001). But their own measures of success were still decidedly underground: “Once Junior Vasquez played our records at Sound Factory [in New York], we felt like we could retire, and at that point we were like 20,” says Oscar. In March 2000, Space opened in downtown Miami with Oscar as the Saturday night resident, just as the world was paying its annual visit for Winter Music Conference. The club – with its cavernous main room, pummeling German sound system and nitrogen blasts – was the talk of dance world, and the legend of Oscar's residency began to grow. The year 2003 was a big one. Oscar released the “Live @ Space” (Star 69) compilation, and won the Club World Award for “Best Resident DJ” (which he won again in 2007). Murk set a new Billboard Dance chart record, with five No. 1's in a single year: Four singles from their self-titled artist album on Tommy Boy Records, and “Dark Beat” (Twisted), tribal house's first real vocal anthem, which found its way from dance floors onto mainstream radio. “We came up with ‘Dark Beat' in about 15 minutes. Whenever things come that quickly, you know there's something to them,” says Oscar. “But we didn't think radio or anthem; we were thinking more like, ‘Oh man, Danny Tenaglia's gonna be all over this!'” In 2006, Oscar became one of Pacha New York's only non-NY-based monthly residents, strengthening his bond with his home-away-from-home, and its rich dance history. He released a second installment in the Space series in 2007, starting new relationships with Nervous Records in the U.S. and CR2 in the U.K. CR2 also snapped up the Murk catalog, and commissioned new remixes of the classic tracks, including Paul Woolford's takes on “If You Really Love Someone” and “Reach For Me.” And in 2008, after nearly two decades making music, Oscar released out his first solo album, “Innov8” (Nervous). Last year Oscar released a mixed CD “Beats” on Nervous Records and working with his Murk partner Ralph Falcon produced one of the undergrounds anthem of 2012 – Amame – which was released worldwide on Defected. He and Ralph also re-activated the seminal label Murk Records. Even though his passion for music creation is undeniable, it's in his DJ booth where Oscar feels most at home. “On the music side, I've felt pretty energized lately, because the changes in the industry really enable you to be a lot more experimental and take more chances,” he says. “But DJ-ing to me always comes first: I really believe in it as an art form. Having a residency like Space, with a regular crowd, it's the ultimate.”

True House Stories Podcast with special guests by Lenny Fontana
TRUE HOUSE STORIES W/ FRANKIE FONCETT # 046 - PART 2 Frankie Foncett shares about how he is becoming a tastemaker in London. Record promoters would bring Frankie their new stack's because of his power as the DJ/Selector and being able to sell records at a high rate in the shop. He discovers the Danny Rampling Shoom party and as the drug culture is beginning in the clubs and House Music is starting to be the music of the clubs. Frankie also was involved as an A&R man for Black Market Records and he talks about how he passed on Frankie Knuckles production of "Tears. He makes his way from the sound system culture and begins to work with Norman Jaye at High On Hope. Frankie now becomes nicknamed Frankie Black Market. He works with Astoria Promoter Nicky Holloway. Paul Oakenfold asks Frankie to stand in for him at the Spectrum as he visits New York. Frankie style is part New York and Chicago with a UK twist and he is gigging all over London and is becoming quite popular. It lends him to become a producer and sought out remixer working on artists such Lisa Stansfield and so many that went on to become multi-platinum sales. Ministry of Sound awards a residency to Frankie and he makes another story at one of the greatest clubs in the world and changed the sound of his night towards the sound coming from Mood 2 Swing, Funky Green Dogs, Daft Punk, and enjoys a residency for 3 years. As with every good thing he decides to take a break and leaves the industry and starts a new career in the Fashion Industry. Even in fashion the passion is there to succeed and has done very well. He is now finding his way back as the DJ and is soughed out now as one of the Golden DJS of the greatest dance era, house music.
It's always a sigh of relief when I finish one of these epic anthologies and I'm happy with the final product. Volume four of the Ultimate 90's House Classics showcases the splintering of the genre and how more progressive versions of House Music were suddenly taking over dance floors. Club 69 (a.k.a. Peter Rauhofer) who was generally a sexy house music production geared toward gay audiences, changed musical directions quite rapidly. Eventually, the productions became more progressive and frenetic, which would drive peak hour crowds into a tizzy. Club 69 hit it big with remixes for Funky Green Dogs "Fired Up" and Kevin Aviance "Din Da Da" amongst many others during this period. At the same time, Tony Moran, Junior Vasquez, Victor Calderone, Ralphi Rosario and Hex Hector were beefing up their sound while making it more palatable to a mainstream audience giving the genre and even further reach. This is not to say the House Music in its purest form wasn't still king as evidenced by the multitude of #1 club songs included in this final set. But, this new sound was embarking on something much bigger that would eventually takeover not only the charts but dance floors in the coming years. Everyone found their place or shall I say true calling as a DJ and no longer were these guys just a DJ, two turntables and a microphone (thank you Beck). They were stars in their own right that could pack a venue. Perhaps the biggest contributor to their stardom was none other than Clive Davis of Arista records. He saw not just in terms of financial but the need to expand his diva roster's reach into the world of dance and by extension their popularity. After all, where would Deborah Cox be today if it weren't for him pushing her in both angles of R&B and Dance extending her visibility across boundaries. While Party Favorz enjoys all the various genres and tribute sets I put out from Trash Disco, 80's Dance, Eurodance and Trance — I have the most affinity with House Music and its various iterations. The Ultimate 90's House Classics series is dear to my heart. While this series is far from the last word on House Music (as there's just way too much to be included even if the artists and songs deserve it) — it's likely the closest you'll ever find in a comprehensive history of the genre. We still have two more years to go with 1998 - 1999, which are bound to bring back some fond memories for many of you. I'm not certain as to when I'll be dropping those but likely sometime in the summer or no later than early fall. I still have the Ultimate Trance series I've been teasing that I want to get out by the end of the year as well. Until then...ENJOY! As an added bonus, I've thrown in some newer tracks that are just now gaining momentum and will likely soon be everywhere. Ariana Grande is the clearcut winner for the most hits with "Thank U, Next" carrying over from last year along with "7 Rings," and "Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored." One of the most striking trends I'm seeing is the classic-pop remakes. While sampling past hits have been a staple of artists going back to the 90's, remaking full tracks has not. In this set we have a total of 5 remakes that include: "Self Control" by Kendra Erika (originally a Top 3 hit for Laura Branigan in 1984), Hilary Roberts "Back To Life" (originally a #1 hit for Soul II Soul featuring Caron Wheeler in 1989), "Fired Up" by Jade Starling (originally a #1 dance club hit for Funky Green Dogs in 1996), "The Rhythm of the Night" by Sean Finn & Corona (originally a #11 pop hit and #1 dance club hit for Corona in 1993 who re-sung the vocals for this release), "I've Been Thinking About You" by Klaas and Londonbeat (originally a #1 pop and dance club hit for Londonbeat in 1989 who re-sung the vocals for this release), "Bittersweet Symphony" by Gamper & Dadoni featuring Emily Roberts (originally a #1 pop and alternative hit in 1997), and "Jump" by Van Halen and Armin Van Buuren (originally a #1 pop and rock hit in 1984). The one that did not make the cut is "You Gotta Be" by Bombs Away featuring Reigan, which was originally a #5 hit for Des'ree in 1995 but didn't quite capture the essence of the original. This is quite a grab bag of influences artists are delving into as they represent a wide variety of genres. At the end of the day, a great song is still a great song. I realize this set has been a long time coming but it's finally here and there is enough to fuel your parties through July before I start dropping some new dance club on you. I'm currently wrapping up the annual installment of Beach House and will start working on the next Underground House set shortly. As you can see, there's plenty in the works. Until the next time...ENJOY! Album: Catch-Up 2019 Genre: House, Future House, EDM Year: 2019 Total Time: 03:44:34 1. Ariana Grande - 7 Rings (Division 4 & Matt Consola Remix) 2. Every long time record collector probably has a hard time parting with vinyl, even if taste changes over time. But it’s a good idea to skim through discarded stuff before bringing it to charity; you might end up making an exclusive mix with records you’ve just rediscovered! Which is exactly what jack of all trades Perseus Traxx aka Nigel Rogers has done for our LUVCAST series. Needless to say we’re delighted! Tracklist: 01. Ebony Ice - "Never Walk Alone (Bop Beats)" 02. Tyree - "Videocrash (Crash Mix)" 03. Daryl Pandy - "Tossin' & Turnin' (U Got Me Dub)" 04. Benji Candelario presents Serious Intention - "You Don't Know (Benji Knows)" 05. Reese Project - "Colour Of Love (Deep Reese Mix)" 06. Timedwellers - "untitled - B1" 07. Purveyors Of Fine Funk - "Space Pimps From Planet X" 08. Merrick Brown - "Stealth Crime" 09. Funky Green Dogs - "Fired Up (Dt'sstwilo Mix)" 10. Inner City - "Your Love (Serial Diva Paris Is Burning Club Mix)" 11. Nu-Era - "Last Dayz" 12. The 4th Wave - "Attention Please" https://www.facebook.com/perseus.traxx https://soundcloud.com/perseus-traxx
One of my own mixes for episode #55 of the Meet the Locals Podcast. It's been forever since I've recorded a studio mix, and since I'm heading out on a road trip this weekend, I wanted some of my new stuff to listen to on the road. This all vinyl mix features mostly new cuts not available on digital from artists including Ada Kaleh, Traumer, Varhat, Janeret, Joey Anderson, Adam Strömstedt, Octo Octa, Lowris, Molly, Hostom, Dixia Sirong, The Black Pony Orchestra, Patrice Scott, The Funky Green Dogs from Outer Space and Terrence Parker, taking you on a two hour journey through a range of vibes. You may find some tracks challenging and inaccessible at first, but stick with it and you will be rewarded :) You can catch me with Katrina Mir and DJ Ramirez on the DC House Grooves show on DJ Jus-Ed's Underground Quality Radio, every two weeks on Saturday nights at 10pm. Check the UQ Radio page for the full schedule: http://bit.ly/UQSchedule.
On this week’s episode of Release Yourself Roger Sanchez plays new music from Arno Stolz, Luca Debonaire & Leandro Da Silva, Cevin Fisher, Sante, Prok & Fitch & Green Velvet, Nic Fanciulli and many more. Here’s bunch of tunes I purchased on Beatport and then mixed immediately last night.A friend, Eva, sent me a clip of Funky Green Dogs’ classic ‘Reach For Me’ via WhatsApp. I went to play it only realised I didn’t have it... So, off to Beatport, where, of course, I was distracted by new releases too.Part two of the story is much more mundane. We were supposed to be hosting a Christmas party for 70 people last night but had to cancel the day before because I did my back in. Typical. Stuck at home feeling grouchy, Eva’s intervention and a little music shopping inspired me to reach for the headphones. This session is the result, mixed live in one take, with ‘Reach For Me’ at the heart of it. I only made one small edit to shorten Rhythm Masters’ take on ‘Been A Long Time’ - their version being a bit too dark compared to the other grooves on offer here. Everything else is disco and funky house with a few remixes of familiar faves thrown in the shopping bag for good measure. Enjoy!Jefferson Jam - Azourious House & Disco 1 Anabel Englund - London Headache (Purple Disco Machine Remix)2 Will The Funkboss - Tomorrow's Music (Original Mix)3 Loose Change - Straight From The Heart (Joey Negro Straight To The Groove Mix)4 Dino Lenny, Doorly - The Magic Room (Luke Solomon's 'Live Forever' Remix)5 Oliver Dollar - Go Down (Original Mix)6 MD X-Spress, Simion - God Made Me Feel It (Claptone Edit)7 Mighty Dub Katz - Just Another Groove (Boris Dlugosch Remix)8 Funky Green Dogs From Outer Space - Reach For Me (Long Ass Mix)9 Timmy P - How's Music (Original Mix)10 Groove Motion - Try It (Original Mix)11 Rhyze - Just How Sweet Is Your Love (Walker & Royce Touch)12 The Fog - Been A Long Time (Rhythm Masters Main Mix)13 Moloko - Sing It Back (Mousse T.'s Feel Love Mix)Mixed live 3rd Dec 2016, Chaptered + minor edit on The Fog 4th Dec 2016 171.8 MB | AAC | 320 kbps | 1'14'49The track list also appears in the ‘Lyrics’ tab of the track info.Use the iTunes ‘Chapters’ menu to jump between tracks in the mix.I don’t know anything about the ‘Jefferson’ brand of cassette tapes. The basic design makes me think they’re at the discount end of the audio spectrum, but the retro font and 70s vibe seems fitting for this session.

I had the honor of DJ'ing and coordinating music online for Out Magazine's 20th anniversary celebration, which took place on October 9th, 2012 at the W Hotel in Hollywood and the experience was an absolute blast. For anyone who wasn't able to attend, I am posting my live set right here on podomatic. This first half, which took place before the night's speeches, covers the music that defined our LGBT lives from Out's inaugural year, 1992, all the way through 2001. This was a great era for music and I had a blast listening back at the music from these years. This playlist isn't completely chronological, but I think it does a great job of generally capturing the sound of that 10-year period. For more, check out my musical picks from each year on Out Magazine's special 20th anniversary section, HERE: http://www.out.com/out-exclusives/out-20 The playlist, below: "Moving On Up" (Rui Tome 2012 Private Mix), M People"Ain't No Need To Hide" (Deep Dish Mix), Sandy B"Where Love Lives" (12" Classic Mix), Alison Limerick"The Lover That You Are" (Classic Club Mix), Pulse feat. September Podcast: Ibiza: Part 1 and 2: ".......Yesterday’s gone, lost in the past try to hang on but it’s fading fast covered in love, covered in you can’t say no to the things you do. I love the feeling that you're giving me it’s making me better, I can’t disagree Nowhere to run nowhere to hide when you shine on me...." I've just returned from a week in Ibiza. This mix features some of the big tunes my friends and I heard while we partying in clubs including Matinee, Bora Bora, Space, La Troya and Pacha as well music being played at friends' pool parties (Josh & Raff), Car Stereos (Asier) and i-pods (...mine). For added authenticity, the mix starts and ends with the sound of an East Jet Jumbo landing - a familiar sound to anyone who has partied at Space, Bora Bora or DC:10. Includes a couple of exclusive mixes you won't hear anywhere else right now - namely the remix of Kelly Rowland's new single 'Work' which i did with my production partner, and good friend, Max Sanna (..which of course, would have been huge out there if anyone had it yet :-). And the much in demand Soulcast remix of Amy Winehouse's 'Rehab'. Close your eyes and you could almost be there....well almost. Big up to all my friends who came with me and all the new friends I made while I was there, who all helped make this year so special. Extra special shout to the nurses at Ibiza's A&E.... Thanks to everyone who has downloaded my previous podcasts and special thanks to those who messaged me and left comments on the i-tunes podcast page. Much appreciated. This mix clocks in at over 2 hours, far too long for a single cd. I'll edit this down into 2 separate mixes (parts 1&2) and upload them as well. Enjoy, Steve PS: I had such a good time in Ibiza I'm going back for closing parties. Ibiza's calling, listen, can't you hear it?! See you there :-) "Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosh..." We have finally reached the end of 2002…yippee! I think going forward, I'll split the annual editions up. For instance, when I get around to 2003, I'll post the first three mixes one week, and the remaining volumes an alternate week about a month later. Personally, I think posting everything all at once is a little too much, not to mention the time it takes to put it all together. Regardless, I won't be doing 2003 anytime soon. Instead, I'll probably do something like another 90s edition, but that won't be until July or so. In the meantime, I'm serving up the remainder of all that was good in 2002. I do want to make one little side note that the classic “At Night” by Shakedown didn't make the cut because I couldn't work it in. I wanted to mention it, so as not to think I had forgotten. In fact, back in the day, I had made what I like to call the “orgasmic mix” of this song. I always thought it needed a little something and the female moans starting in the middle to the end just seemed appropriate for the song. I put this out on the net and the next thing I know it's was put to vinyl as a White Label release. It kinda made me feel proud that people were diggin it, so one little pat on the back for me. Once again, I've managed to pack in some monster tracks from the year. We have the alternate Moony track by DB Boulevard “Point of View.” The Lange mix was a big ole trance number that I preferred over the more subdued house version of the original. Then who could forget the big room tribal of “Dark Beat” by Oscar G. and Ralph Falcon? Massive is what this song was and the Guisseppe D ‘Hands in the Air Anthem' was just that…a full out anthem. Other big monsters were Mary J. Blige's “No More Drama” which by all accounts was about the drama, Kevin Aviance's “Alive” and the smoldering “You Got Me (Burnin' Up) by Funky Green Dogs. Aside from you mainstream re-works by Daniel Bedingfield, Laura Pausini, Anastacia and Paulina Rubio we have some seriously addictive dark underground house by Cassius and Puretone. “The Sound of Violence” was definitely dark and sinister while “Addicted to Bass” was just pure fun. With it's diversity in all things electronic, I believe 2002 was an outstanding year for club music. Memories is what these mixes are made of and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did making them. I'm going to be taking a few days off to re-charge my batteries. I had held up the release of the BPM edition because there wasn't much worth putting together, even a month ago. I can honestly say, that's all changed. I've got a folder chalk full of new promos begging to be heard. I'll try to go through them sometime this weekend. My goal is to keep it down to no more than three mixes, so in order to make the cut, the song has to really hit me by the third note or it ends up in the recycle bin. I'm going to relax a bit before heading out to the gym. Rick and I will be going to see Star Trek later this afternoon. I can hardly wait! Two weeks later we get Terminator. I guess I'm showing you guys my inner geek, but I love sci-fi and am particularly excited to see how they've moved a 40-year-old franchise forward. I hope everyone has a great weekend and I'll be back sometime next week with the next BPM edition. Until then…enjoy!
