Send us a textIn this live episode of 2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates, Drew and Rob dive into the latest updates surrounding the New York Giants after a tough Week 1. The episode kicks off with the duo discussing the harsh reception Daniel Jones faced from fans as he left the stadium, with many booing and heckling him. Drew and Rob debate whether this level of frustration is justified, and they agree that while Jones may not be the quarterback the team needs, the blame should fall more on GM Joe Schoen for not bringing in legitimate competition. They explore how fans, despite wanting to move on from Jones, must accept that he remains QB1—at least for now—taking first-team snaps at practice this week. Could this be his last chance to prove himself? The guys also break down the latest injury news coming from Head Coach Brian Daboll. Several key players, including cornerback Nick McCloud and wide receiver Darius Slayton, are dealing with injuries, adding to the Giants' woes. McCloud's knee injury puts him in a “day to day” or possibly “week to week situation, while Slayton enters concussion protocol. Kick returner Gunner Olszewski re-aggravated his groin and is out for weeks, and linebacker Carter Coughlin's pectoral injury will keep him sidelined for months. Drew and Rob lament the growing injury list, especially with linebacker Micah McFadden and offensive tackle Evan Neal already out for Week 1.On the positive side, the Giants have signed return specialist Ihmir Smith-Marsette. The 25-year-old from Newark, NJ, was one of PFF's second-team All-Pro returners last year, and the guys are hopeful that he'll bring a spark to special teams. They discuss his background with the Vikings, Bears, Chiefs, and Panthers and how he might fit into the Giants' plans moving forward.Another hot topic is Isaiah Simmons, who shockingly didn't play a single snap in the Giants' opener. Coach Daboll explained that Dane Belton got the nod instead, but Drew and Rob can't help but wonder what role Simmons will have moving forward, especially considering the team's defensive struggles.Next, the conversation turns to defensive star Dexter Lawrence, who made headlines by addressing the fans' booing. Lawrence made it clear that while he understands fans want to see their team win, he doesn't respect the booing. Drew and Rob break down Lawrence's comments and discuss whether the fans have crossed a line or if their frustration is understandable given the Giants' lackluster performance.Drew and Rob also review the biggest games from around the NFL in Week 1. They highlight several key matchups, including the Vikings' embarrassing loss to the Giants, the Packers' close call against the Eagles, and Baker Mayfield's standout performance in the Buccaneers' win over the Commanders. They also touch on upsets like the Patriots taking down the Bengals, as well as the struggles of rookie QB Caleb Williams in his debut for the Bears. To wrap up, the hosts review their Week 1 predictions, going over where they went right and where they missed the mark. The show ends with a look ahead to Week 2 and what Giants fans can expect in their upcoming matchup.#Support the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reported that Eluemenor left the field gingerly, accompanied by head trainer Ronnie Barnes, and was diagnosed with bruised ribs. Head Coach Brian Daboll assured that it was "nothing serious," noting, "Anybody Dex hits, you get sore from that." Eluemenor, who participated in the walkthrough portion of practice, commented on the hit, saying, "It's like getting hit by a truck," but emphasized his resilience, having never missed a day of training camp in his eight-year career. In the second day of training camp, Daniel Jones showed promising form, completing 9 of 13 passes, including a deep throw to Jalin Hyatt and a touchdown pass to Malik Nabers, although Nabers dropped another potential touchdown. This marked the second day Nabers dropped a pass, despite his otherwise strong performance. Nabers also made a notable over-the-shoulder catch in the end zone during one-on-one drills against Deonte Banks. Banks expressed enjoyment in competing against Nabers, citing their similar playing styles and the friendly competition.Other notable performances included Dennis Houston, who excelled in one-on-one drills, catching three passes and drawing a pass interference penalty on Darnay Holmes. Isaiah Hodgins caught a touchdown from Drew Lock, and Tyree Jackson caught a touchdown pass from Tommy DeVito after an extended scramble. Rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. received some first-team reps but fumbled after being hit by Brian Burns. Azeez Ojulari had a standout day, recording what would have been three sacks against second and third-team competition. Isaiah McKenzie, Gunner Olszewski, Darius Slayton, Wan'Dale Robinson, and Ayir Asante all participated in punt return drills.Michael Strahan Listed as a Top 25 NFL Player from the 21st CenturyMichael Strahan was named one of the top 25 NFL players of the 21st century by ESPN. Strahan, a Hall of Famer inducted in 2014, was a seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro in the 2000s. He was the 2001 Defensive Player of the Year, recording 22.5 sacks that season, a record he shares with T.J. Watt. Strahan's career, highlighted by a Super Bowl victory in his final season, significantly boosted his post-football career as a TV analyst and host. He noted that winning the Super Bowl made a substantial difference in his life.Malik Nabers Named to the All-Preseason Rookie Team by CBS SportsMalik Nabers was named to CBS Sports' All-Preseason Rookie Team by Chris Trapasso, who praised Nabers as his WR1 in the 2024 class. Trapasso acknowledged concerns about Daniel Jones' ability to fuel a great rookie season for a receiver but highlighted Nabers' talent, speed, and YAC ability, which provide a solid foundation at the receiver spot. Notably, Giants rookie Tyler Nubin did not make the list or receive honorable mention.Giants Top 100 Players: 80-71Giants Top 100 Players: 70-61#giants #nygiants #giants100Support the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Wesigned CB Tre Herndon III, also known as Willie Herndon, but called "Tre" since he is the third in his family with that name. Herndon, who stands at 5'11" and weighs 190 lbs, is 28 years old. He was brought in for a workout with the team before securing a contract. An undrafted free agent out of Vanderbilt, Herndon initially signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018. In the 2024 season, Herndon played 16 games, starting 4, and recorded 46 tackles, 9 pass deflections, 1 forced fumble, 1 tackle for loss, and 3 quarterback hits, earning a 70.8 PFF grade. Over his six-year career, all with the Jaguars, he played in 83 games, starting 34. Herndon completed his initial three-year contract with the Jaguars and then signed three consecutive one-year contracts with the team. Giants Mini CampMini camp saw several players sidelined due to injuries. Right tackle Evan Neal (ankle), cornerback Aaron Robinson (knee), and wide receiver/kick returner Gunner Olszewski, injured early in OTAs, missed practice. Tight end Daniel Bellinger did not participate in team periods but insisted he is not injured. Quarterback Daniel Jones didn't take part in the 11-on-11 series out of precaution following his ACL injury last season. Additional injuries during practice included Darius Slayton, Bryce Ford-Wheaton, and Chase Cota.During Monday's drills, Daniel Jones received most of the reps at quarterback with the skill players. Offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo focused on combo blocks to build chemistry within the group, working with both tackles and tight ends, while assistant O-line coach James Ferentz worked with guards and centers on moving in-sync during zone runs and combo blocking.Evan Neal rode the exercise bike during practice, with head coach Brian Daboll stating that Neal would not practice until training camp next month. Daboll mentioned they've “backed off” Neal, who underwent ankle surgery in early January. It remains unknown if he has suffered a setback.Chase Cota suffered a fractured collarbone and was carted off the field during mini camp. Recovery time typically ranges from 6 to 12 weeks. Six weeks would put him at the start of training camp, while 12 weeks would put him at the start of the regular season. This injury could make it an uphill battle for Cota, a fringe player, to make the roster.Bryce Ford-Wheaton has a shoulder sprain. Recovery time for a grade 1 sprain is a few weeks, but a grade 2 sprain can take several months. He is also recovering from last season's ACL injury. If it's a grade 1 sprain, he should be ready for training camp, but if the injury lingers, it could hinder his chances of making the roster.Giants Workout Updates- OL Kellen Diesch: The 6'7", 300 lbs, 26-year-old offensive lineman, undrafted out of Arizona in 2022, has yet to play a regular season NFL game despite stints with the Dolphins, Bears, Steelers, and Browns.- TE Noah Togiai: An undrafted free agent from Oregon State in 2020, Togiai has played 4 NFL games but has yet to record a reception. He has spent most of his career on practice squads with the Colts and Eagles.- TE Geor'quarius Spivey: The 6'5", 240 lbs tight end had an inconsistent college career due to injuries and eligibility issues but showed potential during his time at Mississippi State and TCU.Support the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Kicker: Graham GanoGraham Gano, at 37 years old and standing 6'2” and 202 lbs, enters the 2024 season following a difficult previous year marked by a left knee injury. Originally an undrafted free agent from Florida State, Gano went 11/17 on field goals and 8/8 on extra points last season. He also had 28 kickoffs with an 82.1% touchback rate. His performance in his last game was notably poor, likely exacerbated by his injury. Gano has been participating in OTAs, but questions remain about his full recovery. Can he return to his usual form? At his age, how much longer can the Giants rely on him?Punter: Jamie GillanJamie Gillan, 26 years old and 6'1” and 207 lbs, had 95 punts last season, averaging 46 yards per punt with a net average of 42 yards. While his yards per punt decreased slightly, his focus on location improved his net yardage and reduced his touchback percentage from 12.2% to 4.2%. He also achieved a career-best 36.8% of punts within the 20-yard line, and return yards decreased from 347 in 2022 to 283 in 2023, despite an increase in the number of punts.Long Snapper: Casey KreiterCasey Kreiter, 33 years old and 6'1” and 250 lbs, has been with the Giants since 2020. An undrafted free agent from Iowa, Kreiter was a Pro Bowler in 2018 with Denver. The Giants have had no issues with his snapping, following the adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." However, there are considerations about how much longer he will continue playing.Punt Returner OptionsGunner Olszewski, with 24 returns averaging 11.7 yards per return and 1 touchdown last season, and Isaiah McKenzie, who averaged 8.9 yards per return with the Colts, are primary candidates. Tyrone Tracy Jr., Eric Gray, and Dante “Turbo” Miller are also in the mix, although their return stats are less impressive.Kickoff Returner OptionsIsaiah McKenzie leads with 6 returns averaging 25.3 yards per return last season. Gunner Olszewski, Tyrone Tracy Jr., Dante “Turbo” Miller, Jashaun Corbin, and Eric Gray provide additional depth, with Tracy Jr. showing promise with an average of 25.5 yards per return.Special Teams StarsMatthew Adams, Carter Coughlin, Darnay Holmes, Isaiah Simmons, and Nick McCloud are key players, contributing significantly with tackles and overall special teams play. Adams notably had 11 tackles, ranking 14th in the league, which is a considerable improvement over Cam Brown, who departed in the offseason.Do the Giants Need to Add to Their Special Teams Via Free Agency? Are the Special Teams Better in 2024 than 2023?Special teams should see significant improvement this year. A healthy Graham Gano alone is a huge benefit. The coordinator change, with Michael Ghobrial replacing Thomas McGaughey, should bring a fresh perspective and new strategies. McGaughey was not a bad coach, but his time had run its course, and Ghobrial's leadership is expected to revitalize the group.Giants 5th OTA Practice ReportNY Giants Waive Gary Brightwell & Sign DB Elijah RileyNY Giants Add Incentive Money to Darius Slayton's Contract??Darren Waller Releases a New Music Video!?!?Support the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. In this action-packed episode of "2 Giant Goofballs: A NY Giants Podcast," Drew and Rob dissect the latest blockbuster trades, signings, and rumors surrounding the New York Giants and the rest of the NFL.The big news of the day centers around the departures of two key Giants players. Saquon Barkley, the star running back, shockingly joins division rivals the Philadelphia Eagles on a lucrative 3-year deal worth $37.75 million, with the potential to max out at $46.75 million. Meanwhile, safety Xavier McKinney heads to the Green Bay Packers on a hefty 4-year contract worth $68 million, surpassing the transition tag value set by the Giants. The Giants made a resounding splash in the opening hours of NFL free agency, shifting the narrative from potential departures to bold acquisitions. General Manager Joe Schoen orchestrated a major move to bolster the pass rush, trading with the Panthers for edge rusher Brian Burns and promptly signing him to a lucrative five-year, $150 million contract. In exchange, the Giants relinquished a 2024 second-round pick (No. 39 overall) and a 2025 fifth-round pick. Despite this, they still retain one second-round pick and hold the No. 6 overall selection in the upcoming draft, positioning themselves strategically for further roster enhancements. The Giants also bolstered their offensive line by signing Jon Runyan Jr to a 3-year deal worth $30 million, with $17 million guaranteed. Additionally, they add versatility with the signing of G/T Jermaine Eluemunor to a 2-year, $14 million contract. In the backfield, the Giants add depth by signing running back Devin Singletary to a 3-year deal worth $16.5 million, with the potential to max out at $19.5 million. Additionally, rumors swirl about the Giants' interest in quarterback prospect JJ McCarthy, adding intrigue to their offseason plans. As the NFL announces compensatory picks, the Giants find themselves empty-handed in this department, setting the stage for further moves and maneuvers in the coming days and weeks.Join Drew and Rob as they break down all the latest developments and speculate on the implications for the Giants' roster and outlook for the upcoming season on "2 Giant Goofballs: A NY Giants Podcast."#nygiants #nfl #nflfreeagencySupport the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Welcome to another episode of "State of the Team" on our podcast, where we dive deep into the New York Giants' linebacker corps and special teams units.First up, let's analyze the linebackers. Bobby Okereke leads the charge with an impressive 149 tackles, 2 interceptions, 2.5 sacks, and a solid 78.2 PFF grade. Micah McFadden also contributes significantly with 101 tackles and a PFF grade of 65.6. However, Isaiah Simmons, while showing flashes of brilliance, has seen limited action, registering just 50 tackles and a PFF grade of 68.9 in only 33% of defensive snaps. Unfortunately, Jarrad Davis was sidelined for the entire season due to injury.Looking ahead, the Giants plan to retain the same linebacker group, with the exception of Cam Brown and Carter Coughlin, who primarily contribute on special teams.Shifting our focus to special teams, Graham Gano has been reliable, converting 11 out of 17 field goals and all extra points with an impressive 82.1% touchback rate. Randy Bullock and Mason Crosby also contribute to the kicking game, albeit with varying degrees of success.Jamie Gillan handles punting duties, averaging 46 yards per punt with a touchback rate of 4.2% and 36.8% of punts landing inside the 20-yard line. Gillan's performance has improved from the previous season, with a higher touchback rate and an additional 2.5 yards in net punting average. On the return game front, Gunner Olszewski stands out with 23 punt returns for 273 yards, averaging 11.9 yards per return and scoring a touchdown with a longest return of 94 yards. Parris Campbell and Eric Gray contribute to kickoff returns, providing solid field position for the Giants.Looking ahead, the Giants plan to maintain the same special teams crew, potentially exploring options for a different returner to enhance the team's effectiveness in the return game.Join us next time on "State of the Team" as we continue to dissect the New York Giants' roster and prepare for the upcoming season.#nygiant #giants #nflSupport the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith are back to talk all things Pittsburgh Steelers. The team parted ways with wide receiver/returner Gunner Olszewski to create a spot to activate wide receiver Diontae Johnson. After not being able to practice due to a heel issue, TJ Watt was a full participant on Friday and is good to go on Sunday. Pat Freiermuth on the other hand, went in the wrong direction with his hamstring injury and will now miss this game and could miss more than just this week. "Bleav in Steelers" host Mark Bergin shares his thoughts from the Pittsburgh Steelers' 17-10 win against the Baltimore Ravens. George Pickens was a matchup problem and scored the go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Rookie cornerback Joey Porter Jr. made a key interception late in the fourth quarter to aid the comeback. T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith caused pressure against Lamar Jackson off the edge. It included Highsmith's strip-sack fumble of Jackson, which Watt recovered. Jackson had several drops from receivers, including Mark Andrews, Nelson Agholor and Rashod Bateman. Bergin discusses the ongoing struggles of the Steelers' offense and the frustrations of Matt Canada as the offensive coordinator. Also, Gunner Olszewski fumbled a punt on a key play that almost led to the Steelers' loss. Bergin also discussed the play of running backs Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren. Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith run down the list of injuries the Pittsburgh Steelers have as they get ready for Sunday Night Football against the Las Vegas Raiders. Gunner Olszewski is set to miss the game after suffering a concussion on Monday Night vs the Cleveland Browns. Meanwhile, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Damontae Kazee, Larry Ogunjobi and Darnell Washington are all good to go. The Steelers haven't been able to do what they want to do most which is run the football. Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren have found very little success behind Mason Cole, James Daniels, Isaac Seumalo, Dan Moore Jr. and Chuks Okorafor. What is the biggest reason for their issues? Is there a reason the team has gone away from using pre-snap motion and we aren't seeing much play-action? Hop in and let's go for another ride on the Steelers Afternoon Drive! Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo from the PG joined the show. Ray said Hakeem Butler was relatively highly thought of coming out of college, but didn't catch on in the pros. Ray went through the WRs that will make the team and if Butler will have a slot by the time it gets down to it. Ray think Gunner Olszewski could be the odd man out in that group. The guys asked Ray about Tanner Morgan and if he can be a real QB3 for the Steelers next year. What type of role will Connor Heyward play – Ray expects him to be an H-back type with a lot of fullback tendencies. Will Chandon Sullivan be the Steelers slot corner next season? Ray expects Nick Herbig to get a lot of opportunity to be the team's third edge rusher, but does see the versatility factor. Ray thinks DeMarvin Leal will see an increased role on the defensive front with the infiltration of Keeanu Benton, highlighting his run defense.
The Steelers added an XFL target today in the form of Hakeem Butler. He's a big target, but will he turn into a useful piece in the offense and a great NFL story? Poni said the Steelers only have better weapons than the Ravens in the AFC North. Do the Steelers have any top tier targets or something with that potential? The guys want George Pickens to become a true WR1 this year with Pat Freiermuth emerging as a top tier tight end. Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo from the PG joined the show. Chris Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast. The Pittsburgh Steelers won't have a proven third wide receiver option going into the 2023 offseason, but is that a huge concern? Free agent options like JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman could be available, but Chris Carter makes the case why a move like that won't be needed. Calvin Austin III's return from injury should provide the appropriate spark at wide receiver, and the team could bring back Steven Sims, Gunner Olszewski along with Anthony Miller for cheap prices and be just fine with Kenny Pickett. Then in the NFL Draft, while Omar Khan and Mike Tomlin look for offensive linemen, defensive linemen, linebackers and cornerbacks early, the NFL Draft could have plenty of sleepers in the later rounds that give the Steelers a chance at finding another wide receiver option on day 3; like Michigan State's Jayden Reed. Finally, a caller asks about the status of Pressley Harvin III and how the Steelers should address punter. If Mike was making the calls, he would go find a proven offensive coordinator so you can figure out if Kenny Pickett is the real deal with an established name. Mike wants the Steelers to truly get Kenny's input on who the team should have as offensive coordinator. Mike doesn't expect the Steelers to mold the game plan to favor George Pickens no matter what, but said he should still be a featured piece. He said Kenny is showing his natural leadership and getting more comfortable as the weeks go on.

Steelers insider Mike DeFabo from The Athletic joined the show. Mike gave an update on the Steelers injury report and said he isn't sold on Terrell Edmunds playing this week after being in the concussion protocol. He said we could see Cam Heyward under 100% on Sunday with a few different injuries. Chris asked about a few other injuries to Diontae Johnson and Mason Cole, but thinks they will be OK. Mike said he isn't sure if Gunner Olszewski is done as a Steeler, but he won't be the man returning punts on Sunday, and that Steven Sims will be the guy. Mike is pumped for chicken wings this weekend in Buffalo.
October 5, 2022 - Season 13, Episode 30 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers as they now start preparations to play the Buffalo Bills on the road on Sunday.Alex and I go over the announcement that rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett will be the team's new starter moving forward. We breakdown that decision and what head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday about the decision to make the change from veteran quarterback Mitch Trubisky. We quickly recap the play of Pickett on Sunday against the New York Jets.Tomlin had quite a bit to say on Tuesday during his weekly press conference, so Alex and I make sure to cover all the main talking points. We talk early-week injury report, the status of rookie wide receiver Calvin Austin III, wide receiver Gunner Olszewski being the doghouse and much, much more. Will the Steelers deal away any players by the November 1 deadline? Alex and I quickly address that question that several people seem to be asking right now. The Steelers also made a few practice squad moves on Tuesday that we recap.Alex and I then move forward by talking about the Steelers week 4 Sunday home loss to the Jets on the heels of us both watching the all-22 tape from that contest. We talk a lot about the collapse of the Steelers defense in the fourth quarter and how the injury to safety Terrell Edmunds played a roll in it. We also go over several other plays from that game.We mix in other Steelers talk throughout this episode that is not noted in this recap post, and then we close this show out by hitting the e-mail machine for several listener questions.
Kenny Pickett has officially been named QB1 and will make his first start against the Bills on Sunday. It is the start of a new era. Poni thinks it's a great time for Kenny to get named starter as he faces teams the Steelers are not expected to beat, which will lower the expectations. The guys are OK with how this Steelers season ends up because they have their direction for the future. The Steelers have a chance to build the roster of the future how they want with a QB on a rookie deal. Donny said Kenny is ready for this and he's not a stranger to adversity after going through struggles at the college level and having it pay off in the end. 93.7 The Fan Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn joined the show. Jeff did not have good news regarding injuries, including to players like Cam Heyward and Minkah Fitzpatrick among others. Chris asked if he feels like there will be anything different from the defense that faces Josh Allen and one of the best offenses in football on Sunday. Jeff talked about the energy that entered the stadium when Kenny Pickett took over on Sunday and what it means for the team going forward. Jeff said there very well could be a change to who is returning punts on Sunday, which could result in Gunner Olszewski being left inactive.

Locked On Steelers – Daily Podcast On The Pittsburgh Steelers
Chris Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast. The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their first game of the season 17-14 in a slow-paced defensive game against the New England Patriots. Mitch Trubisky struggled with only a single touchdown drive and his first interception of the season while not seeing the field and limiting the offense. Between him and Matt Canada, the pace of the Steelers offense doomed the team on top of Gunner Olszewski's fumble, Cameron Sutton's dropped interception, and the Steelers' run defense that faded late in the game.Key observations show that Najee Harris, Diontae Johnson, Pat Freiermuth, Chase Claypool and George Pickens were open throughout the game. But was the problem Trubisky, or Matt Canada? In addition, the Steelers were unable to get a sack against Mac Jones without T.J. Watt. But with Minkah Fitzpatrick's interception, was the defense a problem? Or was it good enough to win?And with the Cleveland Browns coming up Thursday, when will be the time for Kenny Pickett to start? Losses from the Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns lessened the blow, but the Steelers have to improve to win the AFC North.CALL INTO THE SHOW AT 412-223-6644 or if international, e-mail your audio message to LOSTEELERSTOPICBAG@GMAIL.COMFollow Chris Carter on Twitter: @CarterCritiques.Theme music is 'Soul Kick' by Ceddy P, and 'Too Easy' by Nerdboy. How close are we to seeing the Steelers benching Mitch Trubisky? With a short week ahead, his job is safe for this week. The following game is after a 10-day layoff. Would another bad performance call for Kenny Pickett in week four? Chris said he'd be OK with the Steelers going to Pickett right now even with the Thursday night game this week. Poni said he's not sure if he wants Pickett in there with such a conservative offensive scheme. Poni thinks in the long run a loss on Thursday might be more beneficial because it could show Mike Tomlin that he can't play offense this way in 2022. How responsible is Najee Harris for some of the early struggles? It's been easy for everyone to blame the offensive line, but Harris hasn't been perfect either. Chris doesn't have sympathy for the 1st round RB – he said Najee claimed to be healthy enough to play so go out and play. Gunner Olszewski also made a huge mistake, which looks even worse after his comments last week ahead of the game. The award-winning Josh Rowntree joined the show. He said there is definitely frustration in the Steelers locker room right now after another poor performance by the offense. The guys asked Josh about when the team goes no-huddle and he mentioned if the first play of that doesn't work, they will scrap it immediately. Josh said Mitch Trubisky is definitely frustrated, but the offense should give him the opportunity to use his mobility to move the ball down the field. The guys asked Josh if he thinks Trubisky feels Kenny Pickett breathing down his neck to take over at quarterback. Josh said Mitch would have to be really, really bad for a switch to be made.
93.7 The Fan Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn joined the show. With news of a recent injury, Jeff said get ready for Trent Scott on Sunday in Cincy in place of Chuks Okorafor, who has a back injury. Jeff doesn't expect the Steelers to make a move very soon to improve the offensive line. He said things have improved on the Diontae Johnson front and he practiced more today than yesterday. Gunner Olszewski could fill in if Johnson is out Sunday and play a lot of snaps in the slot. Jeff's Steelers season prediction: 9-8, make playoffs.

Steve Palazzolo from Pro Football Focus joined the show. Steve, to the shock of The PM Team, has the Chargers in the Super Bowl. Chris asked Steve if Bill Belichick was done at the top and if the Patriots will fail this season. Steve made the guys feel good about their Chargers pick. He expects the Chiefs to take a step back because of the Tyreek Hill absence. Steve's AFC North champ is the Bengals, but the Ravens are right behind them. He thinks the Steelers will exceed his expectations, however he can see the Steelers finishing last before they finish first. Steve said Mitch Trubisky is in the bottom five in terms of QBs starting this weekend, but he isn't dead last. Steve isn't a fan of cherry-picked stats and is excited to see Trubisky play this year. Steve's Steelers season prediction: 9-8.

Award-winning 93.7 The Fan reporter Josh Rowntree joined the show. He said Chris Oladokun got snaps today in scout team as the team prepares for Jacksonville on Saturday night. He said Mason Rudolph was the best QB of the day if he had to pick one, but the three main signal callers looked solid. Josh said Gunner Olszewski was the best of the receivers today, even ahead of George Pickens. He said Gunner will likely be a special team's guy, like he was in New England, but could still find his way into the offense. Without hesitation, Josh said Zach Gentry will see an increased role in the Matt Canada offense in the absence of Ben Roethlisberger. He said Connor Heyward could push for some playing time in that role too. Josh said it's hard to judge Devin Bush when the activities aren't live because he becomes a different player (in a worse way) when the pads go on. Josh talked about the hope of Minkah Fitzpatrick wearing the green dot and being the defensive play caller, but he thinks it will be Myles Jack. Josh reported Najee Harris won't play Saturday in Jacksonville, but said he could play in the preseason finale. Josh talked about Jaylen Warren carrying around a football in camp, but mentioned that's because the coaches seem to really like him. He gave the feeling that Rudolph was made aware Kenny Pickett passed him up at the end of this past weekend.

And can Pickens outdo top receivers in this draft class like Drake London, Treylon Burks, Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave and Jahan Dotson? Also, if Pickens beats out that competition, does he become the favorite for offensive rookie of the year? The gambling odds place him at +4000 which could maker for a massive payout if the Steelers succeed at rebuilding the offense and Pickens becomes a primary part of that. And who makes the bottom of the Steelers' wide receiver depth chart? Gunner Olszewski,. Myles Boykin and Anthony Miller are chief among the options.CALL INTO THE SHOW AT 412-223-6644 or if international, e-mail your audio message to LOSTEELERSTOPICBAG@GMAIL.COMFollow Chris Carter on Twitter: @CarterCritiques.Theme music is 'Soul Kick' by Ceddy P, and 'Too Easy' by Nerdboy. Locked On Patriots - Daily Podcast On The New England Patriots
The New England Patriots corps of wide receivers underwhelmed during the 2020 NFL season. While sub-par quarterback play and injuries played a role in that assessment, their performance on the field deserves a healthy slice of blame pie, as well. Joining host Mike D'Abate is former Boston Herald columnist John Sapochetti. The duo discuss the potential of receivers Jakobi Meyers, N'Keal Harry and Gunner Olszewski. They also prognosticate on whether Julian Edelman might have played his last game in a Patriots uniform.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
