Vanessa Hope, award-winning filmmaker, journalist, and director of the acclaimed documentary Invisible Nation, for a timely and thought-provoking conversation about democracy, authoritarianism, Taiwan, China, and the future of freedom around the world. Vanessa recently published a powerful and deeply personal essay: "Four Generations, Three Chinas, One Taiwan: My Family's War Story and the Boomerang of Authoritarianism" In it, she traces an extraordinary journey spanning four generations—from her grandfather's secret World War II rescue missions in China, to her own work documenting Taiwan's democratic transformation, to the growing global challenge posed by authoritarianism in the 21st century. Our discussion explores: • Taiwan's remarkable democratic journey • Lessons from World War II and the struggle for freedom • The rise of authoritarianism around the world • The role of storytelling, film, and citizen engagement in defending democracy • What ordinary people can do to build a more peaceful, democratic future Vanessa's documentary Invisible Nation has helped bring international attention to Taiwan's vibrant democracy and the challenges it faces today. She recently screened the film at the U.S. Capitol with bi-partisan impact! She continues to be a leading voice in global conversations about democracy, human rights, and citizen empowerment. Among others in her film she interviews Audrey Tang, Taiwan's former digital minister who has proven that we can, with the right interactive tools, bring people together across the seemingly impossible divisions.

Roger Abbiss is the founder of Occupy Earth, a global grassroots movement to establish a World Federation. He discovered The World Federalist Movement (WFM) while researching a political-thriller screenplay and is now a board member of WFM-Canada. Alarmed by the multiple existential risks that we face and the inability of our current systems and institutions to adequately address them, he is working urgently to develop a better way to run our world -- and ways to give the wider public a vision of the kind of world we humans can create! Roger says that the majority of people across the planet agree that something needs to be done -- the problem is with the architecture of the global political system. Even leaders who would want to address the issues can't do so without a global system change. We need to drive that change. "When the people lead, the leaders will follow." A lifelong entrepreneur, he has created enterprises ranging from telecom to food service. Believing that business could, and should be a force for good, Roger increasingly focused his business enterprises on social and environmental concerns. He is co-founder of MRKTBOX, a business that connects consumers to small organic farms via grocery, produce, and coffee delivery.

Join Kieran Devlin, UC Today host, in conversation with Bill Dellara, Chief Product Officer at VOSS, as they explore the emerging concept of digital workplace automation fabric and its transformative impact on enterprise IT operations. In this insightful discussion, Bill shares how organizations like BT, Telefonica, and Lloyds Banking Group are breaking free from manual, script-based processes that have historically plagued UC and collaboration management.Bill Dellara explains why this domain has remained stubbornly resistant to automation—despite widespread success in other IT areas—and how specialized platforms are finally bridging the gap between automation expectations and reality.Key Discussion Points:The Complexity Challenge: Learn why traditional automation approaches fail in UC environments, where even simple user onboarding can involve 30+ API calls, 3,500+ voice settings, and coordination across siloed teams managing voice, messaging, and meeting rooms separately.Four Pillars Integration: Discover how connecting automation, monitoring, analytics, and AI as unified pillars—rather than separate tools—enables closed-loop self-healing scenarios that can automatically detect issues, adjust configurations, and escalate when needed without human intervention.Real-World Transformation: Hear how a major enterprise reduced user onboarding from 5-10 days to under one hour while dramatically improving new user experience and eliminating configuration errors—all through integrating ServiceNow with VOSS's orchestrated workflows.Next Steps: Assess your current automation maturity by mapping how many business processes truly integrate your UC and collaboration platforms versus relying on manual ticket handoffs. Evaluate whether your approach can scale to support strategic business agility or remains limited to tactical efficiency improvements within the UC domain.

The era of 3G is ending. For many industrial businesses, smart infrastructure systems, remote device management, and IoT connectivity rely on networks that are now being phased out globally. The question isn't if—but when your operations could be disrupted. In this episode of Tech Transformed, Trisha Pillay speaks with Jana Vidis, Business Development Manager at IFB, about the worldwide 3G sunset, what it means for enterprises, and how proactive planning can prevent costly disruptions. They explore the reasons behind the transition to 4G and 5G, the impact on various industries, and the strategies organisations can implement to assess their reliance on legacy devices. Why the 3G Sunset Matters3G networks have powered connectivity for decades, offering wide coverage and reliability. But as global operators move to 4G and 5G, maintaining 3G is no longer sustainable. Carriers are discontinuing services, and support is dwindling, leaving legacy devices vulnerable to:Operational downtimeInconsistent performanceIncreased security risksJana emphasises:“Have a good understanding of what devices you have. Work with IT partners to prepare for future changes. Plan your transition and act before disruption hits.”Jana also stressed the importance of understanding current technology deployments, planning for transitions, and future-proofing investments to avoid disruptions. The conversation highlights the need for proactive measures in adapting to technological advancements and ensuring operational continuity.A Global TimelineThe transition is already well underway across multiple regions:North America: AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile 3G networks discontinued in February 2022; Canada's shutdown begins in early 2025.Europe: Most countries, including the UK, Germany, Hungary, and Greece, will complete shutdowns by the end of 2025.Asia: Japan phased out 3G in 2022, Singapore in July 2024, and India plans completion by the end of 2025.Africa: South Africa started in July 2025; other countries are slowing the transition.South America: Providers like Telefonica, Entel, and Claro completed shutdowns in 2022–2023.Middle East: Oman started shutting down in July 2024; Zain Bahrain in Q4 2022; Kuwait, Iran, and Jordan are following.Industrial devices still using 3G must transition now to avoid operational disruption. From smart infrastructure to remote IoT systems, legacy devices left unaddressed can cause downtime, inconsistent performance, and increased security risks.Takeaways3G networks are being phased out to enable 4G and 5G development.Businesses must assess their reliance on 3G devices before shutdowns.Legacy devices can
We cover post-quantum cryptography (PQC) regularly on this show, focusing on the new math-based ciphers that will secure the Internet as quantum computing becomes more powerful. But what about physics-based encryption or quantum key distribution (QKD)? Is that still a thing? We examine how exploiting the laws of quantum physics can securely exchange encryption keys over a fiber and explore the benefits of the newer continuous-variable QKD. CVQKD leverages off-the-shelf telecom components for affordability, integrates with existing data networks, achieves higher key-generation rates, and reaches distances of up to 100 kilometers without requiring dark fibers. Real-world demos include securely linking hospitals in Madrid for remote consultations via Telefonica's network, and there could be a future where QKD devices are integrated into our home routers, democratizing quantum security. Here's the complete description with show notes for Libsyn: IoT Reality Check: Fresh Insights from the Latest Benchmarking Report - Matt Hatton from Transforma Insights Breaks Down What's Really Working In this episode of TechBurst Talks, I sit down with Matt Hatton, founding partner at Transforma Insights, to dive deep into his latest IoT peer benchmark report covering 27 MNOs and MVNOs worldwide. Matt brings over 15 years of industry experience, having founded Machina Research (sold to Gartner in 2016) before launching Transforma Insights. We explore the most surprising findings from his fresh research, including the rise of SGP 32 for eSIM localization, how AI is finally being used for IoT-specific operations rather than just generic business functions, and why many connectivity providers are diversifying into adjacent markets like fixed wireless access. Matt breaks down the persistent challenges around network fragmentation, explains why IoT growth remains steady rather than explosive, and shares his outlook for 2026. US equity futures were steady Thursday, Asian equity markets ended mixed and European markets opened mostly lower. Markets continued to digest the Trump–Xi meeting outcome, where the US agreed to lower tariffs on China to 47% in exchange for resumed soybean purchases and a one-year pause on rare earth curbs, as well as cracking down on fentanyl precursors. In addition, the US and South Korea finalized a trade deal involving $350B in South Korean investment for tariff relief. Monetary policy was another focus as the Fed delivered a 25 bp rate cut but signaled caution about further easing, with Chair Powell stressing that a December cut is “far from” certain. Meanwhile, the ECB is expected to keep policy unchanged, while the BoJ held rates steady with two dissenters again voting for a hike.Companies Mentioned: Warner Bros., Liberty Global, Telefonica, OpenAI

Scarlett Lewis founded the nonprofit Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement in honor of her son, Jesse, who was murdered during the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in December 2012.Shortly after his death, Scarlett decided to be part of the solution to the issues that we're seeing in our society — that also caused the tragedy — and turned it into an opportunity to build a culture of love, resilience, forgiveness, and connection in our communities at a time when it is needed the most.Scarlett became a Character Social-Emotional Development Advocate to help children manage their emotions, feel connected, and have healthy, meaningful relationships. She created the Choose Love For Schools program, a no cost, comprehensive, lifespan, next generation character and social emotional development (CSED) program that teaches children how to thoughtfully respond with love in any situation by using the Choose Love Formula (Courage + Gratitude + Forgiveness + Compassion-in-Action), and offer ways for children to handle adversity, have courageous conversations, and to respond with love.Because the world needs so much healing, Choose Love also offers programs beyond the classroom through additional free programs, programs for the home, communities, athletics, and the workplace, as well as multiple extension programs. The Choose Love programs have been accessed in all 50 states and in 120 countries, reaching 3 million children.chooselovemovement.org See the video and ask questions of future guests at: theworldismycountry.com/club Music by: „World Citizen“ Jahcoustix feat. What happens when a founder treats AI like hiring Albert Einstein—brilliant, but useless without a clear brief? In this vivid conversation on The Proven Entrepreneur Show, host Don Williams reconnects with long‑time friend Rodolfo Salazar from San Salvador, El Salvador, and together they chart a journey that begins with surf breaks near Surf City, detours through global boardrooms, and lands on a playbook any growth‑minded leader can use today. You'll step into Rodolfo's world as he moves from early entrepreneurship to executive roles at Sprint, Telefónica, Microsoft, and Dell, then into the contact‑center universe with a major BPO that ultimately ties to Convergys—an experience that reveals how large‑scale service operations can transform a country's economy. When a values test at the top levels forces a hard choice, Rodolfo chooses character over comfort, exits the corporate ladder, and returns to building. That decision sets the stage for IdeaWorks, then a post‑pandemic rebirth as Q‑DOX (spelled Q‑U‑D‑O‑X)—a growth company designed for a world where change arrives faster than most leaders' planning cycles.Across the episode, Don and Rodolfo unwind a deeply practical theme: identity‑first AI. AI, Rodolfo insists, is not your identity; it's your instrument. He illustrates this with a memorable story: if you ask “Einstein” to bring you pupusas from Galerías del Escalón and give him no context (what a pupusa is, where the mall is, which route to take on Waze), you'll get clever nonsense instead of useful action. Leaders, he argues, must supply context, constraints, and clarity—precisely the same foundations they owe their teams. That mindset folds into a broader operating model: stop buying isolated tactics and start assembling a growth ecosystem that compounds—website and messaging, content engine, analytics, automation, and AI co‑pilots working in one feedback loop. Rodolfo is candid about the scars too: the time he tried to scale offices across multiple Central American countries at once. The “cookie‑cutter” expansion failed because every market carried different partners, people, and variables. The fix was counterintuitive but powerful—centralize what must be controlled, open commercial presence thoughtfully, and scale only what the system can sustain. If you lead a company—owner, founder, or top‑management—this episode will feel like a field guide. You'll hear how to bake a DNA of change into your culture so the brand evolves deliberately, not reactively. You'll come away with a leadership stance that AI can't replace: clarity in communication, empathy for customers and teams, and creativity born from trial and error. You'll also hear how E‑E‑A‑T‑style credibility—first‑hand experience, proof, and transparency—earns trust with customers and, increasingly, with the systems that surface your content. Along the way, Don and Rodolfo name‑check the places and forces that shaped the journey—El Salvador, Latin America, cross‑border work from the U.S. to Singapore, and the contact‑center industry's outsized role in lifting entire job markets—while weaving in cultural details that make the story human.Come for the origin story, stay for the operating system. If you've wondered how to harness AI without losing who you are—or how to build a growth marketing engine that keeps learning—this conversation delivers a rare blend of philosophy, playbook, and humility. Press play, and let two seasoned operators show you how identity guides strategy, strategy guides prompts, and prompts guide results.Entities & Mentions:Host: Don WilliamsGuest: Rodolfo SalazarCompanies: iDigital Studios, QDOX, Microsoft, Dell, Telefonica, Sprint

Eight Billionaires possess as much wealth as half the world's population. Dr. Shann Turnbull, who was selected by Garry Davis as his World Economics Commissioner, has a plan to cure the world's gross inequality. Shann has proved how tax incentives can radically reduce inequality, so all voters obtain locally controlled eternal well-being dividends. Twice he has used tax incentives to raise millions of dollars from hundreds of investors in 15-year leases that funded publicly traded corporations. Twice he has also created corporations with locally elected boards to introduce “Polycentric” self-governance described by Elinor Ostrom in her 2009 Nobel Prize acceptance speech. Both innovations could win voter support from both sides of politics. In 1976, the ultra-right stockbrokers' journal in Australia published a review by Socialist Deputy Prime Minister of Australia of Shann's 1975 book Democratising the Wealth of Nations. The United Nations published a summary of his book. This led to Shann being invited to explain stakeholder privatization in Prague in 1991/2 and Beijing in 1992. He authored Australian Parliamentary reports on Aboriginal self-determination in 1977/8. His 2001 PhD from Macquarie University created a methodology to establish the science of governance of any specie and introduced to social scientists the self-governing concept of Tensegrity. He is a prolific author on using the self-governing practices of biota to purify, share and sustain localized capitalism. Guyana is defined by its dense rainforest. Culturally connected to the Caribbean region, it has become a richer country due to its oil production and GDP per capita. But it has high levels of poverty. Especially in the rural areas. One person with an understanding of connectivity from his years in the satellite and telecommunications industries decided to go back home to tackle this fundamental issue, which is central to ICF's purpose. Born in one of the poorest regions of Guyana, executive Andre L. Jones started WANSAT Networks to provide connectivity and development to the rural areas where he grew up. The story is a great one. Inspiring. How he approached the project is instructive to any rural district seeking to go on a journey toward Intelligent Community status. Andre L. Jones co-founded WANSAT Networks, Inc. to provide connectivity to underserved and unserved areas in his birth country of Guyana. Born in one of the poorest regions of the nation, he witnessed firsthand the challenges that rural communities faced due to their isolation. When oil was discovered in Guyana, for example, the nation experienced rapid economic expansion, but the benefits did not reach many rural areas. Andre turned the years of expertise in the satellite communications industry he had developed as a successful businessman in the United States toward the problem, securing vital partnerships with leading companies operating in the region like Intelsat, Viasat and Telefonica. Through these partnerships, WANSAT was able to deliver connectivity to remote regions unreached by fiber and terrestrial networks, providing those isolated communities with access to essential services and communication options. WANSAT has installed satellite terminals in remote communities throughout Guyana, allowing previously unconnected citizens to access the government's telemedicine program, including remote consultations and general healthcare access. This connection is a lifeline for remote villages, providing timely diagnoses and medical advice that were previously out of reach. WANSAT connectivity also facilitates distance learning, enabling rural students to participate for the first time in programs such as the government's GOAL initiative. Students in remote areas now have access to educational resources and opportunities that were once unimaginable, leveling the playing field and fostering a brighter future for these communities. Guyana's gold mining industry has been another major beneficiary of WANSAT connectivity. Miners, who often face prolonged isolation from their families, now benefit from satellite internet that keeps them connected to their loved ones. This connectivity not only enhances social cohesion, but also improves workplace safety and personal security, mitigating the extreme hardships that come with long separations. To ensure that WANSAT's connectivity offerings continue to benefit communities throughout Guyana, Andre has established training programs to equip local youth and former defense personnel with the knowledge of how to install and maintain satellite systems. He actively collaborated with Guyana's largest telecom provider, GTT (now One Communications), to ensure sustainable development and increased regional participation in the nation's rapid economic growth. For Andre, WANSAT is not simply about technology, but about ensuring that no one is left behind in Guyana's economic transformation.
This week we released AI from the punishment cupboard in which we've been keeping it in order to win the approval of author, marketing super-brain and AI believer Paul Dervan. As the Head of Brand Marketing at Miro, Paul has been busy bolstering his reputation as one of the industry's smartiest pant-wearers when it comes to marketing effectiveness.
