The Marketing Mix: Thought-starters for B2B Business Leaders
If you're worried about how “search” is going to be impacted by AI…then you've clearly been paying attention! But beyond all the hype, what are the most likely outcomes in the next year or so. Should your SEO strategy be changing? Should your marketing investment be going in different places?Greg Brooks and his team at SearchTides spend their time thinking through these exact issues – based on data and their own experience. And on The Marketing Mix, Greg shares some of his thoughts on the changes that are already happening. And how marketers and business owners should be adapt. We start off by talking about foundational elements of SEO; consider the long term value of content marketing as a search strategy; and think through the overall marketing approach as search becomes smarter. Will the "Human Element" be the thing that makes the difference, and keeps you ahead of the game?Key Takeaways:Current SEO best practices - authority, relevance, and technical optimization - will continue to be the bedrock of search. But we need to consider an additional “human” layer to boost its value. If AI is driving the cost of producing content to zero, how do you add value? Expertise and Experience are the areas where human input can improve on AI generationGoogle's continued focus on 'helpfulness' should guide the strategy, rather than looking to AI-specific tactics and shortcuts. Neuralink has successfully implanted a wireless brain chip in a human, showing promising results in brain activity and recovery. The technology has potential applications in treating complex neurological conditions and controlling devices with the mind. Ethical concerns arise regarding animal testing and the potential for misuse of brain implants. The integration of AI and data sharing could enhance the capabilities of brain implants. Gary Marcus says there are lots of risks around Artificial Intelligence systems and we've moved so quickly, we need to slow down to understand where we are. No one truly understands these new technologies, what the limits are and how they should be used. Marcus is concerned about misinformation and foreign governments disrupting our elections with misinformation and no one able to tell the difference. We also don't have an answer to the Terminator scenario. What if the machines (A.I.) turn on us? Marcus doesn't think it's plausible but we have no proof that it won't happen. A.I. systems are very interesting. We don't control them, we don't understand them. We call them black boxes because we put in a lot of data and we're unsure what comes out, exactly what will happen. Technology leaders, including Gary, say we need to pause research and development to make these systems more trustworthy and reliable. A.I. governance regulation is not a Right/Left issue and we might see a surprising amount of unity on the issue of controlling A.I. We want our computers to do what we want them to do. We really don't have that yet. It's a nightmare science fiction story when the computer goes out of control. James Barrat A.I. Intelligence Live At 7pm P.S.T. Time Magazine named author, speaker, and filmmaker James Barrat one of 5 Very Smart People Who Think Artificial Intelligence Could Bring the Apocalypse due to his groundbreaking nonfiction book, Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era. Intelligence, Barrat contends, not strength or speed, is the superpower that enables humans to steer the future. Scientists around the world are developing machines whose intelligence grows exponentially, and will someday dwarf our own. Have we already plunged into an unwinnable intelligence race with the future of humanity at stake? Why have Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and Stephen Hawking raised the alarm about the dangers of artificial intelligence? It began with Our Final Invention (an Amazon #1 Bestseller and 2013 Huffington Post Definitive Tech Book) and Barrat's quest to engage the world in the most important conversation of our time.
In this conversation, Jacob and Scott talk about what it means to hold space for others – and yourself – in an honest way, and how doing so elicits not only more depth of connection but also a more authentic and heart-centered response. They also discuss the importance of owning our hypocrisy, as Scott shares a story about his own blatant hypocrisy related to podcast reviews and ratings. They take a deep dive into their understanding of the soul, and the importance of connecting to the ever-present peacefulness of that soul-centered place within yourself, while at the same time honoring your very human humanity. PODCAST #64 | AI - Ally or Foe: James Barrat Brett King hosts a throwback episode on AI with Chris Withers (former Europe Head of IBM Financial Services, Watson Group) and James Barrat, author of Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era
[YouTube Video Version: WATCH] It seems like the future doesn't need us, or at least, that's what we're being told these days. With the climate alarmism of the rising cult of Eco-extermists and the agitating nature of the technocrats, it's clear that we're in a position of both confusion and subversion. This, and the general frustration with politics sets the tone for this episode, but as it progresses, we delve deeper into our increasingly controlled reality - Can you blame the waking populous? These days, not only with the information that's coming out, but also combined with their deep implications and far reaching ramifications, people are justifiably upset. The failing infrastructures of our collective countries is beginning to show, and this will effect the quickly coming future. Many are uncertain for the very same provocateurs have provided false promises before, but will this stop progress? Humanity truly may be reaching a point which resembles critical mass. Not in population, but in perception, and it's this dangerous perception of our collective futures which hinders us from truly refining ourselves into what we need to be. Though our wills have been battered by these adversities, that shouldn't negate our efforts of a better tomorrow. Become An EXCLUSIVE Member Website Email Donate Store
Until now, human intelligence has had no rival. Can we coexist with beings whose intelligence dwarfs our own? And will they allow us to? In as little as a decade, AI could match and then surpass human intelligence. Corporations and government agencies are pouring billions into achieving AI's Holy Grail―human-level intelligence. Once AI has attained it, scientists argue, it will have survival drives much like our own. We may be forced to compete with a rival more cunning, more powerful, and more alien than we can imagine. Day one of ConnectiCon 2018 has come and gone in what felt like a blur of vendors, cosplayers, and food trucks. I'm sure we'll have plenty to say about it soon but for now we need to prepare for day two. Despite only having a few hours to enjoy the show yesterday it was a great opportunity to get my bearings and get a feel for the venue. Now today is going to be all about checking out the vendors, spending the money, and playing the games. Speaking of games: We have a nice treat for you and it's just about as hot-off-the-presses as pre-recorded media can be. Jake Given, co-founder and game designer of Lay Waste Games, is showing their latest creation in the tabletop demo area of ConnectiCon and we had the opportunity to chat with him once the doors closed for the day. Keen listeners may recall we've talked about Lay Waste's games at length in our previous two PAX East recaps with Dragoon being a show-stealer two years ago and Human Era catching our attention this past spring. You can check out their website or if you're super quick you can get down to ConnectiCon either today or tomorrow and meet Jake and his new game in person! Enjoy this week's episode and be on the lookout for our wrap-up in the near future. Until then, I have a lot of irresponsible financial decisions to make at ConnectiCon day 2! -Jr.
