To call Piper Laurie an underrated genre icon would not be entirely correct. She was an award winning actress who grabbed the spotlight in pretty much everything she was in. It is not until looking at her entire career that her contributions can be truly appreciated. We also revisit the idea of a Halloween television show and talk about the future of the V/H/S franchise.True crime stories have real life horror naturally built into them. The Man in the White Van decides to lean into horror tropes and gives an almost slasher feel. It is a good idea in theory, but the execution makes for one of the worst things we have seen this year. From confusing editing to an ending that fails to work on any level, we go over everything it did wrong while trying to find something good about it.At the other end of the spectrum is Last Stop Larrimah. For obvious reasons, there are not a lot of lighthearted true crime documentaries. This HBO documentary looks at the mysterious disappearance of a man living in the Australian outback. He lives in a small town of eleven people, and everyone is a suspect. The film is able to mix humorous moments into its dark story without ever taking away from the gravity of the case. It is a bit of fresh storytelling that injects life into the genre. The already interesting case is made even more engaging thanks to the way in which everything unfolds. It is easily one of the better things we have seen this year.Adventures in Movies! is a part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. Also alles einigermaßen skurril, hier in Larrimah. Welcome back Ford Explorers! This week the Colonel and Caleb are talking about the tiny Australian town of Larrimah. Larrimah is a tiny blip on the map, hosting only 12 residents, no one under the age of 50; a sort-of retirement home at the end of the world. The dozen or so characters that make up the town are the stuff of local legend, all revolving around the local watering hole and crocodile zoo, the Pink Panther. Well, on December 16th of 2017, one of the most outspoken member of this little community, Paddy Moriarty, went missing without a sight along with his dog Kellie. In a town with only 11 suspects, the case today is less a "Whodunnit" and more of a " Which one of y'all did it?". Like, share and subscribe y'all! At dusk on the 16th of December 2017, 10% of the population of Larrimah, Australia disappeared. But this is not a story of alien abductions, or a supernatural force at work. This is the tale of Paddy Moriarty and his dog Kellie, up and disappearing, without a trace from the little town of Larrimah, population 11.Do you want to hear a story?

In December 2017, Larrimah local Paddy Moriarty left his favourite pub and embarked on the two minute ride home, with his kelpie Kellie sitting beside him on his quad bike. And then, he disappeared into thin air. Along with Kellie. Larrimah is a small town in the Northern Territory located 431 kilometers from Darwin and the nearest grocery store is 90 kilometres away. This tiny town only has a population of 10 people, so when Paddy disappeared it was big news. In this episode Jessie speaks with journalist Kylie Stevenson. Kylie was the co-host of the Walkley award winning podcast Lost in Larrimah, alongside Caroline Graham. Ever since Paddy went missing, Kylie has had a personal and professional interest in the case, having met Paddy by chance a year earlier. Kicking off with the case of missing Larrimah man Paddy Moriarty. Another mystery of Australia's famous stretch of road , The Stuart Highway. In a town of 11 people you would think it would be difficult to just up and vanish, but that is exactly what happened to Mr. Paddy Moriarty. Mr. Moriarty was from the Australian town of Larrimah, and the town happenings were a little crazy to say the least.Help Coach get a new mic by going to www.patreon.com/mysteriousbrews and becoming a patron of the show. From UFOs to serial killers, ancient sites, mysterious creatures and even ghosts – these are the strange and Scary Mysteries of the month for September2018. 5. Liu Yongbiao Chinese crime writer Liu Yongbiao wrote novels that detailed grisly murders. Prior to his arrest he revealed in interviews that he started working on a follow-up to his hit book, The Guilty Secret. This follow-up was to be a suspense thriller - a detective drama about a gorgeous female author that has evaded capture after committing several murders. It was to be titled The Beautiful Writer Who Killed and liu admitted he had hopes that eventually it would be turned into a movie. His first book was such a hit it became the inspiration for a 50-episode Chinese television series. But his new book was going to be his masterpiece. 4. Dead Cats in Washington You’ve heard of serial killers but what about a serial cat killer? Well now you have because it appears, there’s one in Washington State where Cats are turning up dead one by one. Since February, about 12 felines have been found gruesomely and violently killed. 3. Mysterious Australian Disappearance The small town of Larrimah, Australia is embroiled in a mystery. With an official population of just 12, Larrimah is a nearly forgotten town. It’s tiny and run down, and It’s next door neighbor is the 3,000 km-long Stuart Highway, famous for missing person’s cases and disappearances. This was the same highway where British backpacker, Pater Falconio disappeared decades ago. Right now, only travelers or those with business wander into Larrimah, And when they do, there are only two spots of interest to see: The Pink Panther Hotel and Fran’s Tea House. 2. Criss Crossed Ex On July 24, 2011, police found the torso and lower leg of a female floating around Oyster Creek in Richmond, Texas. When divers were sent in to scour the lake, they then found more of the female’s dismembered remains. These remains were later identified as belonging to 27-year old, Laura Ackerson. A mother of two, it was unclear how she was killed, but autopsy reports showed she may have been asphyxiated and suffered some form of blunt force trauma to the neck. 1. Jaws Films Hidden Secret For decades, the identity of a woman nicknamed, “The Lady in the Dunes” has haunted detectives and sleuths everywhere. Found on July 26, 1974 in the Race Point Dunes of Provincetown, Massachusetts, the unidentified remains of a woman were found by a teenager walking her dog. The body was just yards away from the road and badly decomposed because of prolonged exposure to the heat and the outdoors. It’s believed it may have laid undiscovered for close to two weeks.

Along with a lively debate over the seminal work of a-ha, we concoct a strategy to get the guys to Larrimah, Australia, sing the praises (sorta) of Billy Joel, and address the appropriate way to discuss suicide and mental health issues in a public forum. In SOTS news, the Tens are apparently voting against Andrew, which kind of makes us happy because we are bad people. Plus, Mike’s pulling a Reverse Belichick, Hillary had a Marcia Brady experience at the ballpark, and Ann practically died at yoga.
