Congressman Garret Graves, representing Louisiana's 6th District, joins Local Leaders: The Podcast host Jim Chapman in an insightful rare longform interview.Chapman goes in depth with the U.S. Congressman for nearly an hour starting with his decision to run for office in 2014, including the challenges Congressman Graves faced in the runoff battle against former Governor Edwin Edwards. The focus then shifts to the flood of 2016 that devestated much of Congressman Graves 6th district.Graves goes into detail on the fight for funding, the fight to hold FEMA accountable for their “lackluster” response and the urgent need for proactive measures such as infrastructure improvements and disaster relief projects. Congressman Graves unwavering commitment to advocating for aid and resources for rebuilding efforts underscores the power of dedicated leadership in times of adversity. Chapman points out Graves' tireless efforts in securing funding for critical projects like the Comite Diversion project and highlights his dedication to Louisiana's 6th district. Congressman Graves, in his fifth term as Congressman, has played a primary role in securing funding and other resources for projects throughout Louisiana's 6th district, especially in Livingston Parish, where Graves efforts assisted in bringing ROTC to Denham Springs High School, broadband access to underserved areas of the parish and a state of the art STEM center to Denham Springs. Built on the former site of Southside Elementary, which sustained heavy damage in the flood of 2016. Chapman and the Congressman discuss the impact these programs have had especially as it relates to the younger generation in the parish.Congressman Graves discusses current projects where funding is already on the way, including a capital region program designed to assist in battling the Fentynal epidemic, crawfish farmers assistance programs as well the complete funding of the Comite Diversion project and discussed plans of flood prevention projects already in planning such as a 3rd outlet for the Amite River.Graves expresses his frustration with the Duplication of Benefits battle in Washington and his commitment to see that the issues with disaster relief get resolved through common sense legislation and hard work. This unique look at Garret Graves provides the viewer and/or listener with an insight that is rare in the current political landscape both locally and nationally, but with the transparency that Congressman Graves has always given his constituents through his Facebook Live sessions and his “Grub with Garret" lunches, you may have come to expect it from him. Timestamps: 2:07 Congressional District Coverage2:47 Starting the Congressional Career4:59 Winning the Race Against Edwin Edwards6:14 Fifth Consecutive Term in Congress9:02 Personal Story of the 2016 Flood11:52 Impact of a Congressional Message12:33 Addressing FEMA's Response19:07 Recognition of Community Support23:58 Acknowledgment of Proactive Disaster Funding25:29 Preparing for Floods Before They Hit26:43 Advancing Proactive Flood Prevention Projects30:11 Overcoming Obstacles for ROTC Program31:39 Impact of ROTC on Youth Development31:49 Battling the Fentanyl Crisis 34:03The Graves-Carter Disaster Relief Fix35:34 Challenges in Disaster Relief Funding38:26 Addressing Inequities in Disaster Relief42:03 Supporting Crawfish Farmers Amid Challenges42:28 Congressman's Fun Facts43:23 Congressman's Favorite Part of Service45:27 Urging for Thoughtful Voting ConsiderationsYou can stay up to date with what Congressman Graves is doing for Louisiana's 6th district by:Congressman Garret Graves on the web: https://garretgraves.house.govTo take part in and view his Facebook Live events:  https://www.facebook.com/CongressmanGarretGravesLocal Leaders is Produced by Envision Podcast Productions

Welcome Back! Thank you so much for joining us! I am so excited to share with you my conversation I had with former LEO turned botanical freedom fighter, Jon Griggs! Jon is a kratom consumer and advocate. He's been working in law enforcement since he's been 21 years old. He worked in a variety of capacities such as: corrections officer, police officer, gang task force officer and investigator. Jon was subsequently fired for whistleblowing from his task force position in St. Louis Missouri! He blew the whistle on officers smuggling heroin to sell to inmates in drug treatment program and other blatant corruption. He won a 3 year lawsuit for wrongful termination against the State of Missouri. Jon has been instrumental in facilitating the ongoing investigation into the in-custody murder of Marshall Price. The Arkansas State Police and Greene County Prosecutor announced they will not be charging anybody in the in-custody death of Marshall Price. They will be closing the case. The official story goes like this. No exaggeration: Marshall Price died from a consensual toilet paper and socks, two hit, punch for punch boxing match that nobody eyewitnesses Marshall agreeing to or participating in with 5'11 Odell Lewis - Marshall died three days later, later in the day that he sustained a gruesome head injury on his bunk from a slip and fall in his cell. All other injuries were abdominal injuries sustained weeks before Marshall entered the jail. Keep in mind injuries not so bad he didn't mention it to his closest family and friends, including who he's closest, his sister Sheena who is an RNA, but so bad enough to go around telling inmates of he previous injuries. Jon continues to help facilitate many other ongoing investigations like the ongoing crony capitalism going on in Gonzalez Louisiana, Ascension Parish, Livingston Parish, The Life House Treatment and Smith Tank & Steel and how this all connects to Louisiana many local and state kratom criminalization attempts. If you would like to be involved in the local donations in any manner, or if you would like to be a guest or sponsor of the show please contact us at kratomguyshow@gmail.com or call/ text (617) 917-5242 Enjoy the show! In many ways, this book is about how to recover from the addictions all of us wrestle with. Substance addiction is the clearest example of the spiritual poverty in our culture today, but gambling, pornography, spending, and unhealthy eating also erode our spiritual awareness of God's grace. Ultimately, we're all addicted, or attached to caustic habits of thought and action that distance us by degrees from the God who created us for happiness.
