Lauren Ready is an Emmy award-winning storyteller, keynote speaker, and the Principal Storyteller of Forever Ready Productions. The Forever Ready team tells mission-driven stories for nonprofits and businesses so they can realize and harness their collective purpose and impact.Lauren Ready started her TV news career as a production assistant at 17. She then spent the next ten years as a video journalist as she moved across Iowa, Nebraska, and Memphis to cover national breaking news.Lauren's vision for storytelling is at the heart of every production at Forever Ready. It's this background in reporting — where production happens fast and complex human stories are at the center — that gives Forever Ready its unique creative edge. Lauren's specialty is taking moments of human experience and turning them into dynamic and compelling short videos. Since leaving her TV news career and starting Forever Ready Productions in 2016, her company has received the Small Business of the Year Award from the Memphis Business Journal. Lauren has also won 4 regional Emmys and in 2019, was named Memphis Business Journal's Top 40 Under 40. Key Takeaways:You already have stories. Take a look at the “ordinary” things you do in your everyday work and try to see if there is a story in it that's worth telling. Take the story beyond what you see in the headlines. Life continues beyond the snapshot so write about the follow-up or the continuation of the story. Give people a story that they don't expect. Be authentic. Show the reality of your work. Don't paint a perfect picture for the sake of your audience. Be optimistic and be empathic about the help that you're providing to your community, but show them the real imperfect parts of the story. Instead of thinking about showing something big that you do, zoom in on one person. It makes the kind of impact you give more digestible and easily understandable. “We're challenging folks to take the story beyond what you see in the headline.” “The story you should be telling in your nonprofit is right in front of you. It's a part of what you do every day, but it seems ordinary to us so you don't tell anybody about it.” “When we put in some of those imperfect moments, they feel real, they're truthful, they empower your client, they empower your team, and they show your supporters the real side of your work.” “Get rid of the scarcity mindset, don't do what you've always done in the past, and don't be afraid to tell an imperfect story.”- Lauren Ready Reach out to Lauren Ready at:Website: https://www.foreverreadyllc.com/ Be more confident, credible & convincing to your board & supporters without feeling rejected, ineffective, or pushy. We often hear about the toll divorce takes on our emotions, but it’s also a financially costly exercise, and one we need to be prepared for ahead of time. Thinking about life after divorce is tough while we’re in the thick of it, but we have to remember that this is the start of a new chapter. We have to start making financial decisions our future selves will benefit from. What do those decisions look like, and how can we get better at making them? How to look at the marital home from a more financially savvy perspective: It’s tough walking away from a marital home because we associate so many memories with them. Fara Captain is the owner of Captain & Co Real Estate and was probably one of my first close friends in real estate 5 years or so ago. I would imagine a ton of people have said similar things about her before because she’s very intentional about going out of her way to make people feel like they belong and investing deeply into people. On top of being my friend though, she’s a killer realtor who launched Captain & Co just a couple of years ago and is already a finalist for the Memphis Business Journal’s Executive of the Year. Nick Lee is someone that’s much newer in my life and someone that if I’m being honest, I wasn’t fully sure what his day to day looked like before our chat. He is owner of Advanced Appraisal Services and before I really knew much about what he actually did, I knew his reputation was that he was phenomenal at his job. I know many agents have experienced his work but very few knew the man behind it so I was excited to get to peel back the curtain a little bit in our conversation today. To connect with Fara, you can email her at captain@captainandco.realestate , call her cell at 901-500-8034, or just schedule time on her calendar at her website which is www.captainandco.realestate . “On a whim I helped some friends produce a movie, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, that led to me co-founding a production company. We produced six feature films – and that's what led to me seeking out Indie Memphis, volunteering, eventually joining the board, and I got hooked. This was my favorite event. . . I feel so lucky to be director, because this was literally my most favorite thing in Memphis.” That's Indie Memphis Executive Director Ryan Watt, talking his time about ten years ago when he first started getting involved with the festival that the Memphis Business Journal described as an annual blockbuster. Join host Mark Fleischer as he talks with Ryan Watt about his history with this spectacular festival and previews 2019's Indie Memphis Film Festival.
