Today we're visiting the capital city of California, which just happens to be Sacramento for the uninformed, to chat with the award-winning entrepreneur, impact leader, and youth arts program creator, Tamaira Sandifer. And here's an impressive stat to get us underway. Tamaira, or Miss Tee as she's affectionately known, has mentored over 880,000 youths in school districts in underserved communities across America. She does this largely through her Studio T Arts & Entertainment company, where they instill real-life skills, hope, and a sense of belonging through groundbreaking programming and diverse educators who specialize in creating avenues for the development of trauma-informed youth and cutting-edge technologies. Tamaira has developed some of Hollywood's most sought-after young dancers, including the 2016 winner of So You Think You Can Dance, the 2018 World of Dance Stars, and members of the Jabbawockeez. Her graduates currently travel the world, performing with stars such as Justin Beiber, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Usher, Beyoncé and Ellen. Her students have gone on to work for the White House and be seen on stages of MTV Music Awards, Nick Choice Awards, BET Awards & more, as well as to defy the statistical odds. As a pioneering champion for pathways through the arts and business, Miss Tee has garnered recognition such as Forbes Cultural 50 Champion, Woman of the Year by California Legislative Women's Caucus, NAWBO Outstanding Woman Leader, and Hub Magazine's Exceptional Women of Color. Tamaira is also the founder of California's Day of Dance, a board member of Californians for the Arts, a member of the City of Sacramento's Race and Cultural Equity Task Force, and Chair of Americans for the Arts Art Education Council. Wow, that's a list and a half, and as you'll hear during our conversation, Tamaira lives to serve. As a community and a business leader, she's adamant that this approach ensures you are constantly performing and delivering to your best ability, even when you're experiencing those tough moments yourself Visit our website for the full transcript, guest links, and episode notes - Coaching 4 Companies

Special Treat for Valentine's Day! Empowering Ourselves & the World with Self Love with Mary McManus  Mary McManus, motivational speaker, critically acclaimed author and poet, 2009 Boston Marathon finisher, and polio and trauma survivor has a remarkable story of resilience, healing, hope and possibilities. She is celebrating 15 years of healing after the diagnosis of Post-Polio Syndrome, a progressive neuromuscular disease! Mary contracted paralytic polio in one of the last polio epidemics in the United States. She endured years of abuse at the hands of family members from the age of 8 until 17 when her father ended his life. She managed to become High School Valedictorian and was elected to Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit Honor Society when she received her MSW from Boston College. At the age of 53 years old, her life came to a screeching halt. She was at the height of her award-winning career as a social worker at the Boston VA Outpatient Clinic having received awards from the Blinded Veterans Association, the Ex-POW's, Employee of the Month and Social Worker of the Year. She was diagnosed with Post-Polio Syndrome, a progressive neuromuscular disease and was told to prepare to spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair. She was three years shy of being eligible for retirement. Mary refused to take the diagnosis sitting down. Her pen became her divining rod for healing harnessing the power of the mind/body connection through poetry. She embarked on a journey that took her from taking a leap of faith, leaving behind her career as a VA social worker, to the finish line of the 2009 Boston Marathon, and many adventures as a woman transformed through the sport of running. Out of the rubble of her past, Mary dug deep to discover the treasure of who she was always meant to be. Her Spirit shines with brilliant resilience as she conquered every challenge going the distance on the roads and in her life. Mary speaks to the power of forgiveness, gratitude, love, hope and optimism when confronting life's challenges. Mary is the author of the critically acclaimed, “Hope is a Garden: Poems and Essays From the 2020 Pandemic”, “Into the Light: Emerging From the 2020 Pandemic,” “Feel the Heal: An Anthology of Poems to Heal Your Life,” and her Trilogy of Transformation that chronicles her health and wellness journey. One of the most compelling aspects of Yvonne is centered around this question...What do you want to be remembered for? This shifted her philosophy and she shares this with her clients to better understand what their why is and what they want to be remembered for.Yvonne shares how productivity will have to be viewed from a new set of lenses in that employees today must be offered more unique and compelling incentives, otherwise, they will choose to leave, work from home, and or become entrepreneurs. People should consider getting a side hustle because you can't depend on a corporation as they have in the past. In fact. Yvonne states, that the side hustle has become the hustle itself because people are choosing to become entrepreneurs.Get Yvonne's free productivity mini-course it will change the way you look at productivity in your life. https://bit.ly/3brKbAtWhen it comes to women business strategists, Yvonne focuses her clients on accelerating their productivity and profits which consists of accessing what the entrepreneur already has and then figuring out how to use it. For example, when working with women entrepreneurs, Yvonne looks at whether the client is making enough sales calls, marketing, sales, and the message.Yvonne states, that women are the energy the world needs today, they care about people, are talented, and are what the world needs today. Delegation is also an important aspect for women leaders, delegating duties to the right person is one of the keys to a business's success. Reach out to Yvonne McCoy by scheduling a free consultation with her to see how she can help you and or your organization at this link: https://bit.ly/3xSeRTaRate and review episode 242 with Yvonne McCoy on Apple Podcasts, please provide a 5-star rating. Welcome to episode 36 of the Yay for Business Podcast! In episode 8 ("I have ADHD"), I shared my story about my ADHD. I talked about what it was like getting diagnosed and what I have learned about myself since embracing my diagnosis. If you haven't listened to that episode, click here to check it out. After that episode was released, I received the most genuine and heartfelt feedback from other women who shared their own stories about being diagnosed with ADHD and not even realizing they had it. Which totally resonates with me!In today's episode, I'm talking with Denise Duffield Thomas, a successful entrepreneur and the creator of Money Bootcamp, about her journey with ADHD. As a child, no one ever suspected Denise had ADHD because she always had her nose in a book, performed excellently in school, and behaved well. But looking back, there were definitely signs. Since Denise has been diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, she has developed practices that help her stay organized, focus on her strengths, and not get bored. Denise also shares how she maintains her focus in her business and her busy personal life.In today's episode, we're specifically covering:How Denise became aware of her ADHDThe benefits of being diagnosed with ADHD and understanding the way you thinkThe simplicity of having an ADHD brain and the choices we makeThe stigma and negative views of ADHDIncorporating certain constraints in your lifeOutsourcing and making incremental upgradesHaving ADHD and how that affects your business modelHow to channel your creativityHow to layer in external accountabilityResources mentioned:Facebook Group: @Rebel ProductivityEpisode  26: Money MindsetBook: Lucky Bitch: A Guide for Exceptional Women to Create Outrageous Success, Denise Duffield ThomasBook: Get Rich, Lucky Bitch: Release Your Money Blocks and Live a First-Class Life, Denise Duffield ThomasBook: Chillpreneur: The New Rules for Creating Success, Freedom, and Abundance on Your Terms, Denise Duffield Thomas Connect with Denise:Website: www.denisedt.comInstagram: @DenisedtPodcast: Chill & Prosper PodcastConnect with Courtney Chaal:Instagram: courtneychaalWebsite: https://courtneychaal.comFacebook group: Get More Clients ClubEmail: courtney@rulebreakersclub.com

The Business Side of Music

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 15, 2021 40:23

We chat with entrepreneurs, radio/podcast hosts, mentors, music industry executives, Candy O'Terry, and Jacy Valeras, the creators and hosts of the series “Country Music Success Stories.” During our discussion, we talk about everything from the glass ceiling for women being much higher than it is for men in the music business (It's an unspoken rule that in radio, you're not supposed to play to female artists back to back, but it's okay to play male artists in that manner), what is “Star Power” (and what it takes to have and keep it going). The lessons they've learned from interviewing some of the Country Music biggest legends and to keep that success story going, you have to keep on pushing. Candy O'Terry has been the voice coming out of Boston Mass radio for 25 years on Magic 106.7. It was a long journey from secretary to co-hosting morning drive, where she learned so much along the way. There were so many highlights during that journey, but the two that mattered most to her were hearing her own songs on the radio and creating the weekly Exceptional Women show. Interviewing women is what she loves to do and has continued that with the launch of the weekly podcast series: The Story Behind Her Success. So far, more than 700 women have shared their stories with Candy, and she's not stopping there. Jacy Dawn Valeras was only 13 when she started writing songs and singing at local events in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. By the time she was 19, Jacy had her own band and a crazy performing schedule, opening for such country music legends like Reba and Willie and playing on stages like Madison Square Garden, the iconic Bluebird Café the Texas Troubadour Theatre. When vocal issues caused her to press pause on her career as a singer, Jacy knew she had to create a new chapter in her life, so she took her talent as a performer and matched it with her love of social media marketing, graphic design, and content creation, and Platinum Circle Media was born.  www.countrymusicsuccessstories.com www.jacydawnvaleras.com The Business Side of Music ™ © 2021 Beyond the Music Co-Produced and Hosted (by the guy who has a face for podcasting): Bob Bender  Co-Producer, Creator, and Technical Advisor (the man behind the curtain): Tom Sabella Director of Video and Continuity (the brains of the entire operation): Deborah Halle Editor (the “ums' and “aahs' removal guy who makes us sound good): Mark Sabella Marketing and Social Media: Kaitlin Fritts Talent Acquisition and Scheduling (the one who keeps us on track) Tammy Kowalski All Around Problem Solver and keeper of the key to the vault: Connie Ribas Recorded at: The Bunker in Franklin, TN (except during the Covid 19 pandemic, then it's pretty much done VIA Skype or over the phone, with the exception for those fearless enough to come to Bob Bender's living room… and there are a few).
