What's the best way to usher in the New Year? On this week's episode, legendary voiceover artist Bill Ratner shares a true story from his early days in Radio: When his green card bride Claudine leaves him, he's alone during the Holidays in an empty double wide and his evening shift duties at KJOI (LA's easy listening music station). So when a fan requests something a bit more intimate than the Percy Faith Orchestra, why not make her happy? And on New Year's Eve, they produce their own live show together over the air waves, using the station's 50,000 watts of power to make the world a bit less lonely. And Dixie ends the year with the story you've been asking her for. #HappyNewYear Song: ‘Love's A Stranger' (Warhaus) New Year l Radio DJ l Drive by Fucking l Anonymous Sex | Music Request Line l Radio Antenna l 1970's l Lubrication l Harlequin Romance Novel l Top of Topanga Mobile Home Park l Double Wide l Vaseline l Instrumental Radio l Muzak l Muumuu | Terrycloth Bathtub Animals l FM Transmitter l Top of the Hour l Station ID l Honda Civic l Radio Console l Blinking LEDs I Percy Faith Orchestra l Middle Age l Smog l Order Up a Man l Microphone l Los Angeles l Happy New Year l Divorce l Radio Tower l Lawrence Welk l Green Card l Quell l Radio Station l Marriage l Swiss l London l LA l Radio Announcer l Chief Engineer l Sales Manager l About our Storyteller: Bill Ratner is one of Hollywood's premier voiceover artists and a published poet, essayist, and fiction writer. Be careful with that Erection; you'll put an Eye out, kid! Sexual Folklorist & Christmas Orphan Dixie De La Tour isn't traveling for the Holidays, so she offers to petsit and housesit for a friend (hint: there's a hidden agenda). Her hosts hit the road and the intrigue begins: Dix spends Christmas Eve interviewing 3 (4?) men to find the perfect casual sex candidate for this special occasion. Is there anything more exciting than hooking up with a stranger in a house that's not yours? There is: having anonymous sex - on a perpetual loop - as you savor a Classic Christmas Movie in a brand new way. But there's been a unexpected witness to her Yuletide gaiety. Will they rat her out and put an end to her decade-long holiday legacy? Have you ever let your tongue finish the dance that your ass began? Podcaster & Sex and Intimacy coach Leah Carey has never believed that great sex was something she deserved, but as she begins to seek out sensual, kinky live events in her local community, she meets a man who makes her feel safe enough to try new things. Together, they set a boundary and WOW, who knew it could be so hot to have someone tell you No when you begged for it? Growing up with an abusive father, she learned to be a VERY “good girl,” which translated into significant sexual repression as an adult. Always convinced that she was the problem – not pretty enough, smart enough, or sexually skilled enough - she dreamed of great sex but assumed she would never experience it. At age 43, life threw Leah an opportunity to challenge her old beliefs and finally move her beyond the mythology of the “Good Girl.” Listen to the Good Girls Talk About Sex podcast and learn more at www.LeahCarey.com Episode links: Needle Play Acupuncture: Needle Play Acupuncture was made by and for the Kink, Leather, and LGBTQIA+ communities. Today I chat with metamours JD and Lorena, as well as their common partner Aviva (a metamour is a partner's partner.) Even though Aviva and Lorena were dating first, JD has become Aviva's nesting partner. And today we chat about how even though that transition was a little difficult, Lorena was also very happy for Aviva and JD, someone she knew and really liked. We also chat about maintaining one's freedom while setting expectations and boundaries and about getting comfortable with the ebb and flow of relationship structures. I was left feeling warm from this conversation as I could really tell there is so much love and respect between the three of them. I hope that regardless of whether you are close with your metamours or not you can take them as an inspiration in your journey. Sara and I are talking about her experiences with polyamory and some of mine too! We cover coming out to family and friends as polyamorous, how polyamorous people might handle breakups of their partners, and how to deal with metamour relationships. Dr. Sara Sohn, DPT, PT, WCS is a highly accomplished and experienced pelvic floor physical therapist, sex counselor, and mentor for leaders working in taboo areas. Sara holds a strong belief that pleasure is a fundamental right and dedicates her efforts to mentoring health and wellness providers to become courageous leaders in sexual literacy. With over half a decade of experience as a leading pelvic health provider, Sara has dedicated herself to educating the community, speaking nationally, and preparing others to lead in areas that are often stigmatized or taboo. Additionally, she has a personal lifestyle of polyamory, long-term partnership with two partners, and enjoys solo backpacking and singing. A metamour not wanting to meet you is not always a sign of insecurity or jealousy but demanding to meet and be friends with a metamour might actually be about insecurity. That's what's on this week's episode of Non-Monogamy Help. Find the full audio transcription of this episode on my website. Music for this podcast has been provided by Chris Albery-Jones at albery-jones.com and the art was made by Dom Duong at domduong.com! Email nonmonogamyhelp@gmail.com with your question.
Not a trio you thought you'd see thrown together, but here we are! Today on Double Teamed, Cami & Niki discuss grief related to loss of pets and relationships, seeking friendship with metamours post poly breakups, and an interesting contraption we stumbled onto at a recent play party we attended. Und wie können wir uns als Partner:innen und Metamours gegenseitig dabei unterstützen, miteinander und mit Situationen besser klar zu kommen? Enjoy!
Today, Robin Beach from sexwithrobin.com talks metamours. She's a sex educator, radio host, former stripper, former dominatrix, and current mom. How do you relate to the partners of your partners? Is it like sibling rivalry? What does it mean if love is unlimited but time isn't? --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/intimate-interactions/message
Parallel polyamory If you don't want anything to do with your metamour(s), you may be more interested in parallel polyamory, which is on the opposite end of the spectrum from kitchen table polyamory. With parallel polyamory, “the metamours do not have any kind of relationship between one another,” says Zhana Vrangalova, PhD., a sex and relationship scientist who teaches an ethical non-monogamy course called Open Smarter. They don't have a romantic relationship, or even a friendship. Like parallel lines, their lives never intersect—hence the name of this style of polyamory. Parallel polyamory doesn't mean your partners keep their other relationships a secret. Whether you're practicing kitchen table or parallel polyamory, everyone is at least aware of all parties involved in the polycule (the group of people connected through romantic relationships). “However, [with parallel polyamory], there is no expectation that they would ever meet, hang out and be friends or even be friendly,” Vrangalova says. Garden party polyamory Some people prefer kitchen table polyamory because it can be challenging to keep your lives with each partner separate, Yau says. Even if you're able to do so, it can almost feel like you're living a double life. Let's say you live with your wife, and you also see your girlfriend three times a week. It's going to require a lot of advanced planning to make sure your partners never meet. And if your wife doesn't want to hear you talk about your girlfriend often, you might struggle to share how your day went if you spent it in your GF's company. That's why some poly people—even those nervous about meeting their partner's partner—attempt to have some type of amicable relationship with their metamour. If they can manage that, it's called garden party polyamory. Garden party poly is ideal for those who don't want to be friends with their metamour (thus aren't into kitchen table poly), but also recognize how challenging keeping two partners separate can be. Metamours who practice garden party polyamory might only see one another a few times a year at a birthday party, graduation, etc. No type of polyamory is superior, and each comes with its own unique set of challenges. But if you ask me, there is something heartwarming about kitchen table polyamory, and the idea of being one big, happy family that supports and loves each other. One of the best parts of being polyamorous is the poly community that you cultivate. And with parallel and garden party polyamory, you're not quite getting that “family” that you get with kitchen table poly. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support

Wondering what to do if your metamours aren't talking to each other? It was a hard 5 months while Marty and Kyle didn't communicate. However during that time, I (Megan) stayed in a relationship with both of them. We all had some major learning lessons around forgiveness, self-love, and empowered action that we share in this episode. The more we travel down this path, the more I believe we are quantumly entangled (listen for the story in the podcast). Thank you for joining us on this journey we call life! Dating can be a fun, connective adventure. Or you could be doing it during a pandemic. Robin Beatch is back today to talk about dating as a polyamorous person and how COVID has impacted her and her polycule. We share strategies on risk profiling and figuring out what you want, who in your life is most vulnerable, and what is a boundary for you. Robin also talks about her longest sexual dry spell. And just in case you don’t know, a polycule is a group of people who sleep with some of the same people. So if person A sleeps with B and C with person B sleeping with A and D and person C sleeping with A and E, the five of them would be in a polycule. This is just one configuration out of many. Some folks call this a line or a V configuration - the name doesn’t matter. The group of people who are connected in that they are all sleeping with the same people are a complex sort of polyamorous extended family. Metamours are the lovers of your lovers. Often they are not your lovers.
Thinking back over the years there have been many times where a new meta is entering the picture and all those insecurities pop up which then creates this "perfect" image in our head of who our meta is. "Oh they have a better job than I do so they must be better." "They are skinnier than I am therefore a better partner.". These thoughts of ours cause us to often times be intimidated by a new meta. Sometimes we are the intimidating one and don't even realize it. Is an affair the end of the road? Can a monogamous relationship transition into an open structure after a transgression is uncovered? What kind of a relationship can you expect if "the other" person is now your metamour? In this two-part episode, Effy and Jackie tell two stories of infidelity. One from the point of view of the cheater and the other cheated on. Both as painful as insightful, these stories attempt to unpack the multifaceted dynamics of affairs and explore what's available in the aftermath. Laura and Seva discuss the good, the bad, and the meh, as regards relationships with metamours. Mostly an interview of Seva and discussion of the past. The ladies largely agree that 80-90% of metamour relationships are good to "meh", and bad relationships are few and farther between, as well as often being initiated by partners or "partner problems, rather than meta problems." Small content warning: allusions to adult/sexual activity content, no explicit descriptions. If you're looking for encouragement that good metamour relationships, or at least better ones, are coming, skip the nine to ten minutes after the intro, that's Seva reliving her worst ever metamour relationship, which was definitely a partner problem, but she was new enough to not know that yet. Seva is largely anonymous on this show due to not being out at work but teaches in the poly and rope communities and helped build upline rope; you can find the link in her guest link below. As always, intro and outro music is provided by Vince Conaway (www.vinceconaway.com) Special Guest: Seva.

In addition to the main topic we also spend some time answering our first international listener inquiry as to why we endorse the terms ethical non-monogamy as the main community umbrella term as opposed to consensual non-monogamy.

If you are practicing non-monogamy, you likely have had to think about what kind of relationship you would like to have with your partner’s partner(s).Metamour is the term used to describe the partner of one’s partner. While you may not have a romantic or loving relationship with your metamour(s), they can play an important role in your life. Whether you want to build a strong friendship with your metamour(s) or just want to be sure that your needs do not get sidelined as a result of your metamour(s), navigating through this unique relationship is an important part of consensual non-monogamy. The first of my three metamours joined me for some cocktails and a chat for this Very Special Episode of Polyammering. She shares a bit about her religious upbringing and how her approach to the concept of polyamory shifted after she lost her faith. We also talk about the “incident” in which I participated in accidentally outing her to a family member, and learn how that all went down from her point of view.
