A staggering wave of superstar injuries has completely derailed fantasy baseball rosters, leaving managers scrambling for answers on the waiver wire. Corey Pieper breaks down a massive slate of breaking news, spectacular rookie pitching performances, costly duds, and the daily FanDuel Bet of the Day. The injury bug bit hard on Thursday night as fantasy royalty hit the shelf. Bobby Witt Jr. was forced to exit early with a right knee injury and is undergoing further medical testing, while Trea Turner left his ballgame after being struck by a pitch in the calf. Mike Trout lands on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. was knocked out early following a painful shot to the groin. Meanwhile, Adley Rutschman struggled through a hitless, two-strikeout performance after taking a throw directly to the head. On the mound, the Milwaukee Brewers suffer a crushing blow as breakout right-hander Quinn Priester is officially ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 season to undergo thoracic outlet decompression surgery. On the bright side, Wenceel Perez is managing a facial injury, Jose Soriano is expected to take the bump today after skipping his Thursday start with chest discomfort, and superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor is finally set to launch his minor league rehab assignment this Friday. Despite the medical chaos, a brilliant group of young arms took center stage. Gage Jump turned in a masterclass performance, firing seven brilliant innings of one-hit ball with seven strikeouts to completely shut down the Angels. Parker Messick flashed his best velocity of the season, racking up nine strikeouts over six innings of two-run ball against Milwaukee. Bryan Woo was absolutely flawless, spinning seven scoreless frames with nine strikeouts, matching a spectacular nine-strikeout duel against Shane Baz. Sean Burke excelled as a bulk follower behind opener Bryan Hudson, striking out eight over 7.1 brilliant innings against Ryan Weathers. Joe Ryan cruised through five scoreless frames, and Trey Yesavage battled veteran Sonny Gray in a gritty seven-inning showdown. Offensively, Juan Soto blasted two solo home runs, Wyatt Langford and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. both cleared the fence, and nearly the entire Kansas City starting lineup crossed the plate for a run, with only Nick Loftin missing out on the scoring barrage. On the negative side of the ledger, young arms hit a wall as Jack Leiter was shelled for six earned runs in just four innings, while Matthew Liberatore was lit up for seven runs in a brief 1.2-inning nightmare. High-profile bats completely frozen at the plate include Braden Montgomery falling below the .200 mark after a multi-strikeout collar, Jasson Dominguez and Brandon Marsh both punching out repeatedly, and Cal Raleigh enduring an ugly four-strikeout night to drop his average to .164, alongside quiet nights from Bo Bichette, Gunnar Henderson, Joc Pederson, and Brice Turang. Finally, we map out the weekend pitching landscape in our Pitching Planner, highlighting the upcoming returns of Mick Abel and Troy Melton, Jared Jones traveling into the thin air of Colorado, and a look at Shane Drohan. When the San Francisco Giants ended the 2025 season, they found themselves at exactly .500 in the ultra-competitive NL West. After acquiring All-Star Rafael Devers during the season and making a few additions in the offseason, there was hope that the Giants would be pushing for a postseason spot in 2026. That plan, however, has not yet taken off, and things are reportedly set to change by the Bay. On this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss reports that President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey is set to trade away key players before the August 3 trade deadline. The surprising move suggests that the Giants may not believe this is the year for them to compete and that a reset is necessary after falling to a disappointing 29-43 record to this point in the season. The question now is: Which players are going to be moved in potential trades? Later, Jake and Jordan dream up who they would like to see in the 2026 MLB Home Run Derby, set to take place in Philadelphia next month. While there are a few obvious choices—Kyle Schwarber and Ben Rice, most notably—the guys also hope that Mike Trout could have a special moment and compete in his first-ever Derby in front of a hometown crowd. They then discuss a few key players returning from injury, the Washington Nationals' surprising success and take a look at the current manager ejection standings. 1:40 – The Opener: Giants fire sale 26:13 – Dream Home Run Derby field 52:04 – Around the League: Key returning players 56:26 – Nationals are having success 1:01:36 – Manager ejection standings Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

Brayan Bello needs to fall in love with baseball again. So do we, actually. Hard to be in love with this Red Sox team. Jack and Ian discuss who should be the next GM of the Boston Red Sox. Hint, it's actually the podcasters. Kahnle is up, La Sorsa is signed. It's NBA Finals week, Game 2 is tonight, and the Shoot Around boys are doing exactly what they do on Fridays — talking about everything except the thing you'd expect them to talk about. They kick things off with a listener correction from Twitter — turns out the Coach of the Year who got fired before the award came in was Dwayne Casey, not Lloyd Pierce (Rob was close). From there it's a full dive into the hero-to-villain arc: OKC went from everyone's favorite upstart to the team everyone wanted to see lose, almost overnight. Rob points to the Kansas City Chiefs as the gold standard of that flip — and SGA's habit of spending time on the floor didn't exactly help Oklahoma City's cause this year. Then it's a two-part debate: who should retire and go to the broadcast desk, and who do you wish had kept playing? Russell Wilson heading to the CBS pregame show kicks things off, and the guys run through Draymond, Klay Thompson (Rob thinks he'd surprise people), Mike Trout, and Jameis Winston — who they both agree has a big bag waiting for him somewhere, whether it's Barstool or a network couch next to Shannon Sharpe and Gronk. On the comeback side — Serena Williams is returning to play doubles at the HSBC Championships, which gets them talking about who they'd most want to see suit back up. Rob's answer: Pete Sampras. Casual greatness, no ego, just stroll in and handle business. Brandon picks Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson — two guys who deserved so much better than what Detroit gave them. And then the closer — the hot mic segment that was teased all week on Tuesday's show. LSU pitcher Devin Shearer gets warned by the umps, ESPN gets told to turn the field mics down, ESPN does not turn the field mics down. And then there's the Nebraska-Oklahoma State softball game, where an unidentified voice — still a mystery — delivered what might be the most unexpected phrase ever broadcast live on ESPN. Rob and Brandon's debate about who exactly says "ball sack" at a softball game is genuinely one of the funnier bits they've done. In this episode: OKC's hero-to-villain arc — and the Kansas City Chiefs comparison SGA's foul-baiting and why fans turned on Oklahoma City Russell Wilson heads to CBS — who else should retire and hit the desk? Klay Thompson as a broadcast sleeper pick Jameis Winston's future: Barstool or network TV?
