Seine neue Single «Rockin' C.A.» stammt aus seinem aktuellen Album «Between Shadows and Light».

Today I talked to Barbara Nickless about The Drowning Game (Thomas and Mercer, 2025). Two sisters are heirs to a company that builds yachts for the super wealthy, and both are excited about a commission that will introduce them to the huge Asian market. Shortly after arriving in Singapore, Nadia learns that her sister, Cass has plummeted from a 40th floor balcony. Numb with grief, Nadia takes over Cass's job of finishing a yacht for a high-level Chinese scientist whose work is important to the repressive Chinese government. In gripping prose, Nickless delves into yacht design, espionage, the world of high-stakes yachting, and China's repressive regime. Figuring out why Cass died could tear the company apart and might get Nadia killed in this suspenseful intrigue-filled novel about family history, loyalty, and secrets. Barbara Nickless is the Wall Street Journal and Amazon Charts bestselling author of Play of Shadows, Dark of Night, and At First Light in the Dr. Evan Wilding series, as well as the Sydney Rose Parnell series, which includes Blood on the Tracks, a Suspense Magazine Best of 2016 selection and winner of the Colorado Book Award and the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence; Dead Stop, winner of the Colorado Book Award and nominee for the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence; Ambush; and Gone to Darkness. In addition to her career as a technical writer and instructional designer, Barbara worked as a raptor rehabilitator, piano teacher and performer, and a sword fighter. She served as the Director of Education for the country's largest public astronomical observatory. It was all great fun. But then a wildfire burned down her family's home. For Barbara, losing everything also meant she had everything to gain. Her essays and short stories have appeared in Writer's Digest and on Criminal Element, among other markets. She lives in Colorado, where she loves to cave, snowshoe, hike, and drink single malt Scotch―usually not at the same time. Connect with her at www.barbaranickless.com. At first light by Barbara Nickless Website: https://gobookmart.com Buy Now: https://amzn.to/3JlMJwD Ritual murder. Archaic clues. A visionary killer. In this heart-stopping novel by the Wall Street Journal and Amazon Charts bestselling author of the Sydney Rose Parnell series, words can kill. On the muddy banks of the Calumet River, a body has been found posed next to a series of mysterious glyphs and bearing wounds from a ritualistic slaying. Chicago detective Addie Bisset knows only one man who can decipher the message left by the killer: her friend Dr. Evan Wilding. A brilliant forensic semiotician, Evan decodes the etchings as Viking Age runes. They suggest either human sacrifice or righteous punishment. But to what god? And for what sins? Only one thing is clear from the disturbing runic riddles: there are more victims to come. As Evan races to determine the identity of the Viking Poet, he and Addie uncover the killer's most terrifying secret yet: the motive. This startling discovery puts Evan's life in mortal danger, and verse by ancient verse, time is running out. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/gobookmart-review/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/gobookmart-review/support

On this week's Sheer Isolation we're joined by actor, stage performer and writer, Flo Espeut-Nickless. Her one-woman show, Destiny, is a semi-autobiographical take of growing up on a Chippenham council estate. She created the show to dispel the stereotype that everyone in Wiltshire is wealthy and well spoken. She's now in talks to adapt Destiny for TV, while also rehearsing for a festive play, Miracle on 34 Seymour Street, which you can see in Trowbridge over Christmas. We play a track from Gavin Osborn; previous Sheer Isolation guest and is working with Flo on her next project. Our other tune is from Wells duo, The Portraits, who spotted that a High Street chain's Christmas ad uses a melody very similar to something they created last year. In news, Kieran talks about a band member from Oasis playing in Wiltshire, and Jon covers the latest news to revitalise Swindon's Oasis Centre. This episode was created by Kieran Moore in Trowbridge and Jon Ponting in Cricklade.

We'll be celebrating the Chinese New Year with LAURIE and MARK NICKLESS. They assert that the Chinese visited Cahokia, the Mississippi Valley and explored the Great Lakes. Where is the evidence? They will be discussing the artwork found upstream from St. Louis, which was documented in a painting by Henry Lewis in the mid 19th Century, and in Laurie's translation of the recently discovered Mao Deng's journals of a 15th Century Chinese voyage around the world. Laurie spent the last 15 years translating the concluding 15 chapters of this journal, and it this fascinating book is entitled "To the Gates of Fengtu." The Chinese descriptions of Fengtu seem to parallel what we know of Cahokia. Please tune in for this riveting information.
