Welcome to Empower Your Menopause, the podcast where we bust myths, share strategies, and empower women to thrive in this next phase of life. It's James and Juli here, and today we're diving into a topic that has affected all of us at one point or another.Ever felt like you're either crushing life or totally failing at it — no middle ground? Like, if you don't have time for a 60-minute workout, why bother moving at all? Or you had one cookie and it ‘ruined' your diet, so you might as well call it a cheat week? Sound familiar? Welcome to the All-or-Nothing Club — population: way too many of us. But here's the good news—you can escape it, and it starts with something we call PMA. Thats's not Positive Mental Attitude, it's Positive Messy Action.PMA is all about ditching perfection and embracing tiny, imperfect steps forward — because spoiler alert: motivation doesn't come first, action does. And those baby steps? They're where the magic happens. So, settle in for this episode of Empower Your Menopause, where we'll unpack why all-or-nothing thinking gets you nowhere at this phase in your life, how to embrace progress over perfection, and why messy action beats no action every time. Have you ever found yourself trapped in the cycle of perfectionism, unable to move forward because you fear not being good enough? If so, you're not alone. In today's episode, Kristin explores the concept of perfection paralysis through the lens of a student's journey from a coaching call within the Academy. She fell into the trap of believing the story, "I don't know what I'm doing." Sound familiar? Listen as Kristen provides invaluable guidance on how to shift out of a perfection paralysis mindset. Let's look at a few highlights: It's okay not to have all the answers. The key lies in a commitment to continuous learning and growth. Perfectionism, Kristen pointed out, often leads to feelings of overwhelm, resulting in a state of paralysis. Confidence is built through taking action. When we put pressure on ourselves to be perfect, we only end up freezing in fear. We don't have to prove ourselves or perform for others. When we remove that expectation, we can show up authentically and attract the right opportunities. So, if you've ever felt stuck in the pursuit of perfection, know that you're not alone. Take inspiration from this story and remember: it's okay not to have all the answers. Embrace imperfection, take action, and trust in your ability to figure it out as you go along. That's where true growth and success lie. Did you hear? The Rise Up Summit, happening 4/19-20 in Denver, CO, is the room you need to be in. Doing everything perfectly may seem a recipe for success. While it's true perfectionists can be rewarded for their flawless performances and may even think their desire to never make a mistake is what makes them more efficient at their job, the obsession for perfect may indeed stand in the way of success. And yes there are occasions where you want perfect, ie a brain surgeon or airplane pilot. But more often than not perfectionism is actually harming your business and stopping you reach the levels of success you could be, if you learnt that good enough is in fact that GOOD ENOUGH! First of all, thank you so much for listening to (at least some) of season 1! Launching this podcast has been a huge labor of love + dream of mine for years now. I appreciate each and every one of you who tuned in, shared, liked, commented, and subscribed! Truly, it means the world. Today's episode: leaving your job is a very scary thing- but so is resigning yourself to staying stuck, stunted, and miserable in a job that isn't treating you the way you should be treated or no longer aligns with who you are. I recently left my job of nearly 15 years and it was terrifying. There are several reasons I stayed for as long as I did, but a few of the reasons I stayed too long were because I didn't think I was good/smart/capable enough to get a better job anywhere else (imposter! syndrome!) and I was also dealing with this lingering gratitude for an organization who gave me a real job out of college during a recession. I unpack that and measure it against the perfection paralysis theory, aka the feeling that keeps you stuck wherever you are because you aren't yet perfect at the thing you want to try. Whether it's leaving a job, running a marathon, or starting your own business, the fear of "oh, I could never do that" and "But I'm not good at x or y" keeps us playing small. In this episode: Imposter syndrome as it relates to staying at a job too long because you're terrified no one else will hire you The constant feeling of "being discovered" that you're not smart/good/capable enough re: career Perfection paralysis and how it keeps us from doing things/making moves Stepping through the perfection paralysis and finding yourself in a career you enjoy at an organization that values you How perfection paralysis can negatively impact not only our own personal happiness but our abilities to be good friends, allies, etc. Follow The Adults Podcast + Ashley: IG: @theadultspodcast | @ashrockchalk Twitter: @ashley_white theadultspodcast.com | lestylorouge.com

Perfection paralysis tends to visit some of us more than others, but it's probably something that we can all relate to. It's that nagging feeling you have when you're working on something productive, but you know you should be working on that task you've been putting off. Or delaying a task because you don't think you'll be able to execute it well enough – you just need a few more hours of research and then you'll get started. It's avoiding tackling the work at hand, and reasoning with yourself as to why you shouldn't work on it yet. Perfection paralysis is avoiding tasks, even though you know you should be making progress on them. Maybe you're worried about what would happen if you fail. Or perhaps you have negative emotions around the person or thing you'll need to work on to complete the task. Maybe you're concerned about what would happen if you succeed. No matter the reason, perfection paralysis can have a negative effect on our lives and cause us to delay, avoid, and procrastinate. So what do we do about it? We look deeper into why and how we are experiencing perfection paralysis. After all, delay, avoidance, and procrastination are rarely ever about lack of time, but rather your feelings and emotions about the task at hand. What You'll LearnFirst, the usual suspects when dealing with procrastination, including fear of judgment, anxiety around imperfection, imposter syndrome, and how to deal with each of them How delay and avoidance are symptoms of the real reasons we experience perfection paralysis – our emotions How I struggled with perfection paralysis and imposter syndrome, and how I overcame it. Learn to tackle perfection paralysis head-on, so you can finish that task that is taking up too much headspace and achieve your goals Lastly, My big why for starting this podcast, and how your big why can help you succeed in moving past perfection paralysis, too. Overall, while perfection paralysis may tend to visit some of us more than others, it's probably a feeling we can all relate to. By leaning on your support systems, doing enough research to feel confident (but not too much that it becomes its own delay tactic), knowing that it's okay to fail, and just starting, you can overcome those fears of judgment, anxiety about not achieving perfection, and make progress towards your big dreams and goals. After all, if you let perfection paralysis keep you stagnant, you'll never know what you could have accomplished. My Invitation To YouWhat is the one thing that you've been procrastinating, avoiding, etc.? Challenge yourself to think about what it is that that means to you. What are you anxious about? If you feel so inclined, DM me your thoughts over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/so_hows_therapy_podcast/ (@so_hows_therapy_podcast), or send me a quick note at info@cohesivetherapynyc.com. In this episode we talk about the paralyzation of perfection.Perfection paralysis: It’s the immobilizing fear of failing and something us perfectionists know well. It can wreck our psyche and prevent us from forward movement because we’re so scared the results won’t wow that we’re unable to even begin. 1. Prioritize your energy. In the throes of perfection paralysis, we often lack perspective.Take a global look at your list—and your life. What matters most? Make it perfect. For the rest, let DONE be good enough.Separate your ‘task’ to MUST do, NEED to do, and WANT to do.2. Let just one thing be good enough.Problem is, for perfectionists, letting "done" be "good enough" is tough. Yes, you understand that perfection is an impossible standard, but that usually doesn’t stop you from seeking it. Here’s our challenge: Today, can you press pause on that unwinnable game and let just one thing be less than perfect?Perhaps it means grabbing a salad for dinner instead of making that organic meal you had planned. (Your kids will survive. Promise.) Or it could mean hitting your bed tonight before the house is tidied. (You’re probably the only one who will even notice.)What one thing in your life can be good enough today?3. Take the next best step.We often get overwhelmed with what am I going to cook/meal planning, grocery shopping, then having to cook everything that we don’t do anything… some people order groceries but get overwhelmed with cooking so they let it all go to waste and order out. 4. Don’t give yourself a start date or an end date. JUST START. Imperfect action is better than no action. When you take the pressure off of the outcome or an end date, you start to notice it is easier to adhere. This has to become your new normal.Download our metabolic blueprint hereClick HERE to learn more about our Metabolic Prehab™️ program!Connect with us:Website lsn.fitInstagram @lsn.coach@lizromannutrition @beccachilcz_nutritionEmail: liz@lsn.fit or becca@lsn.fitAffiliate partners:1stPhorm - Digestive Enzymes, Greens, Protein (Fruit D Loop is one of our favorites!)Magic Spoon - use coupon code 'LSN'Top Notch Nutrition - Sleep, Hydrate (Orange Mango is our favorite!)Built Bar - use coupon code 'LSN'

The Number One Reason Why You aren’t Taking Consistent Action on your Goals, and How to Change it. Isn’t it the worst feeling when you tell yourself or even another person that you are finally going to start X or you are going to finally finish Y this week, then days pass and you still haven’t done jack?!!!! You know you need to do X and Y if you want what you say you want in your life, yet you feel stuck, unmotivated, and a boat load of shame around it. Most people make a task out to be so big in our minds that we believe it will require a lot of work, time and energy to complete it perfectly. You don’t even want to begin this “huge task” unless you are in the perfect mood and the starts are aligned. First problem here is the belief that it has to be perfect for you to reap the rewards. This perfection belief causes, as I call it, Perfection Paralysis. A dream-robbing condition, which prevents you from even starting, because the self-Imposed expectations are so high. That internal pressure sucks the life out of your mental and physical energy. Perfect doesn’t make money if you if it prevents you from showing up & creating. People don’t buy from you because you stuff is perfect, they buy from you because they trust you can help them. In fact, perfect often repels people, as we all know nothing is perfect. I’m discussing this in detail inside the episode, and explaining exactly how to get out of Perfection Paralysis. There is a cure!!! Welcome to ProjectME the Podcast with your host Tiffany Carter, who takes the mystery out of making BIG money. A former NBC and CBS TV journalist, turned multi-millionaire entrepreneur, teaching you all things wealth, health, worth, and business. Do you suffer from Perfection Paralysis? Are you your own worst enemy to getting what you want from life? Do you think everything must be "perfect" or your efforts are not worth the time to try something new? Perfection paralysis is a trick your mind plays on you in an attempt to keep you safe. Whenever you are about to put a piece of yourself into the world (say by starting a new business or asking someone out on a date) you form an idea of it in your mind first. All too often we allow our need to be perfect (to avoid criticism from others) cause us to perform beneath our true potential or even cripple our progress in life. A human being can achieve things that are regarded as impossible, but only if they allow themselves to. Only if they get out of their own way and be who they really are. I say screw what others think, you be you, you do you and let yourself go full out. That's the only way that you will experience freedom and live the life you deserve. This is all related to your racing and your life. Just do it.
What have you been through and not just survived yet thrived through and want to share with the world because you know someone else can learn from your experience? So what's stopping you? In my experience, meeting hundreds of women around the world is many women suffer from the idea of needing everything to be perfect before putting themselves out there. There is the fear of criticism from others, not being taken seriously or feeling foolish. Life is about growing through each season and chapter in your life not just going through it. It's time to release Perfection Paralysis and thrive! Blog post www.cherierickard.com/blog Share this show so someone else can release the pressure of the world to be perfect.
