When circumstances change because others make a decision and we can't control it, anger is the first thing we do. It's the knee jerk reaction. It's inevitable! We will feel anger at some point today, this week or this month. So why avoid it or resist it? On this episode I want to offer you a new way of viewing this very powerful emotion, by recycling it for good instead. I believe anger can be a powerful tool to help us take care of ourselves. With anger you can:Speak up for yourself when a boundary has been crossed. Redirect that same energy to move and get sh** done you normally wouldn't do. Use the energy to stand up for yourself or others Anger is just energy, that when contained, it can be like fire and light the way for SELF EMPOWERMENT! In today's episode, I share the secret to self-love and how it involves allowing your darkest emotions to show you the truth about who you really are. I talk about the importance of embracing shame, guilt, regret, and anger, and how learning to feel these vibrations in our bodies can lead to healing and self-love. Join me as we dive into where these emotions come from and imagine what they might say to us if they had a voice. By facing these dreaded emotions, we are provided with an opportunity to heal our inner child, let go of negative thought patterns, and increase self-trust and self-love. We also explore how self-love and self-care mean feeling all of our emotions, including the negative and dark ones, because without our shadows, we can not stand in our own light. We discuss the importance of emotional connection in relationships. We explore how vulnerability and expressing our feelings, both beautiful and challenging, can help deepen the emotional bond with our spouse. However, we also acknowledge the vulnerability hangover that can follow and discuss strategies for embracing this vulnerability. Finally, we share three ways to support ourselves during the inevitable times when emotions are high and strong. We dive into the power of self-compassion, mindfulness, and grounding techniques, as well as healthy coping strategies such as exercise, journaling, music, and nature. We also emphasize the value of seeking professional support for emotional challenges, as working with qualified professionals in coaching or therapy can provide a loving and safe space for healing. Tune in to this episode to learn more about the secret to self-love, emotional connection in relationships, and strategies for supporting yourself during difficult times. Jess Rad is the founder of ‘The WomenHood', which connects women on the issues that matter to help them navigate womanhood. Her mission is to empower women with the knowledge, mindset and toolkit to make positive changes in their lives. This episode really opened our eyes to the unspoken aspects of womanhood: miscarriage and premature menopause. How have we gone this long? It's like a weird Fight Club mentality - you can't talk about the trauma - you just have to be with it and allow it to beat you up. Well, NO MORE says Jess Rad! She has bravely opened up the conversation through her own experiences. She asks to be heard and not told how to feel. And lets us know how to speak to people who have gone through similar life events. The episode is also informative from a medical perspective. She bust myths around HRT, what the 34 (yes, 34) side effects of menopause are (spoiler, not just hot flashes!), that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, they are painful, traumatic and, invariably, unsupported by medical staff. This episode is a heavy subject with a lightness of touch that makes it accessible and human.
