BONUS EPISODE from THE BOUTIQUE FITNESS MARKETING PODCAST(be sure to subscribe to it to hear me on an upcoming episode)Question for you… Is your business a brand? What is a fitness brand, anyway?Do you have your answer? So what do you think? Is your studio a brand?I'll answer it for you. Yes. Your fitness studio business is a brand … because all businesses are brands! Yes, it was a trick question! What is a Fitness Brand?Your business is the organization and people that deliver your services. Your day-to-day ops, sales process, teachers, class flow, desk team, and more. Your brand is how customers perceive your business, which means it's a little trickier to nail down. It's less tangible but is SO important.People ARE talking about your business, or at least have a quiet opinion about it. And the reality is that if you don't define your studio's brand, other people will do it for you. So, once know the answer to the question of what is a fitness brand, the next question is, what are you doing to take control of how your brand is perceived? My guess is you're doing a lot of things already. You're making efforts to offer a consistently excellent class experience. You care if your studio is dirty or if your front desk staff is rude. But let's be real. Every business is (or should be) doing those things. That's the absolute low bar for brand respect. This is where it gets fun…When you go a little bit deeper into what your brand is, it CAN be the most powerful marketing tool in your tool belt. It can inform where you market, how you spend your marketing budget, and, in time, it can even gain you brand recognition that will have people searching your studio out by name. That kind of brand love comes with some pretty great perks: customer loyalty, word-of-mouth referrals, and the willingness to pay more, to name a few.So, if you're like a lot of my clients when we start working together, and you think “colors and a logo” are the core of your branding, then this is an exercise for youBOUTIQUE FITNESS MARKETING EPISODE SHOW NOTESCHOOSE YOUR PODCAST PROVIDER AND FOLLOW BOUTIQUE FITNESS MARKETING PODCASTPIXALITY DESIGN WEBSITEBOOK A FREE STRATEGY SESSION WITH MEwww.YogaBizCamp.com Instagram @yogabizchampMichael's software resources

People treat you differently when you have muscles. You know what I mean?""And I was able to put on about 25 to 30 pounds of lean mass over the next 12 to 18 months just by working out and taking protein and some creatine. And through that transformation, 1, I got to see how people started looking at me differently, which was nice.""The only way to do it is to take small steps every single day. I had the same problem when it came to going to the gym. I tried to do everything all at once and I hit it so hard and yeah. You get burned out really quick because you're trying to gain everything within a week or 2, not reality.""It's not if they're going to win, it's when we're going to win. And that's a cool spot to be in anything in my opinion.""As long as every day you're getting up with the intention to be better, eventually you're going to that wall down and on the other side of that is the success, are the goals that you're trying to reach, are the things that you're trying to get to, but a lot of people you know, same with social media. It's like, you start. And it's like, this is hard. Or you're not seeing the results. Same exact thing. Like, you're not seeing the results right away. Then people pull back and they say, well, fuck, it didn't work for me. But how the hell do you expect it to work if you're not going to, you know, consistently do it every day?""If you can give something 60 to 90 days of real work, that's really going to give you the first inclination of like, okay, is this moving me towards where I want to go?""What I really am passionate about is coaching people, specifically coaches and business owners, on what are the successful behaviors that you need to get these different things that you want in your life. Some of them are business related, some of them are personally related, but it will always be fitness. That introduced me to that whole realm and that.""It's not only the consistency. It's what you want to be, you want to have a certain amount of time that we're allotted in a day. Right? People say you have 24 hours, but you do need to sleep. Sleep is really important. It is.""What do you really want? And that's something that we never ask ourselves. And then when we do, we distract ourselves and go out. Let me go flip the channel. Let me think about something else. I don't really want to actually think about what I really want because then that's going to expose the work that I need to do or the work that I haven't been doing.""You have to ask yourself what you want more. Do you want to get towards the end of your life and look back and say, Fuck. You know what? I had so many other plans and I didn't pull the trigger and you have that heavy regret for never pulling the trigger.""What if all that failure or learning opportunities we're being built and specifically designed to groom you, to be ready to become the type of person to handle and receive the things that you truly want. What if that is why it's happening in your struggling and you're smashing your face. And then you start looking at going, I'm being groomed right now. It's painful. It's it hurts like hell, but I'm being smoothed in my.""It's not only forgiving myself for shit because Quite frankly, but I'm also to blame for a lot of the shit that I went through in my life. I made terrible choices when I was a kid, which put me in the predictions that I was in. Yes, the people that had power over me at that time, you know, made decisions that put me in a bad spot, but it was my decisions ultimately that led me to where I ended up.""Listen, at the end of the day, whatever you don't have in your life, you only have 1 finger to point. I mean, you know, and that's honestly, like, all the lessons I've learned over the last 4 or 5 years of working on myself is that I spent a lot of time blaming others for the reason why I didn't have what I wanted.""It's like enough. What happened? Oh, that's great. I feel really bad for you. I don't give a shit. It's you. Like you, like, here's the mirror. I'm going to put it right in front of you. Look. The person looking back at you is the reason why you don't have what you want.""Most people want both. Aviron, which makes a connected rowing machine that starts at about $1,800, is taking a more sustainable growth approach than counterparts like Peloton. The company launched a couple of years before the pandemic hit. The focus was on bootstrapping and slowly building a business via B-to-B sales from wholesalers that would sell to hotels and other large businesses. But then the pandemic hit and the company had to switch its business model. While it did lose money during the first half of 2020, Aviron was able to completely transform itself into a DTC fitness brand -- and has been seeing growth ever since. Founder and CEO Andy Hoang joined the Modern Retail Podcast this week and spoke about Aviron's transformation as a fitness brand. One of the ways Aviron was really able to hit its stride was by joining Y Combinator in 2021. Up until then, the company had been mostly bootstrapped. That wasn't by choice, but because Hoang had yet to find an investor to take the leap. But, according to Hoang, the industry cachet the accelerator program provides really paves the way for future investments. "As soon as we got into Y Combinator, a lot of those same investors who said no to us and didn't give us more than five or 10 minutes of their time were asking us: Hey, can we really participate in this round?" Hoang said. Thanks to this funding the company has been able to grow. It now has about 60 employees. And while demand for fitness has cooled of late, the company has not had to make any big cuts or layoffs. Hoang credits this to his focus on making sure sustainability was in front of growth. This is in contrast to some other players he's been watching. "I love Peloton as a brand, I think they've done great things," Hoang said. "I don't understand how they hired so many people in such a short period of time." But even with the industry cooldown, Hoang is still very bullish on the future. "There's going to be a lot of consolidation, and there's going to be a lot of companies that just won't make it because they don't have the right fundamentals," Hoang said. "So it's exciting to me, because if we do make it through this period -- which I think will be a challenging period -- the companies that come out of this period are going to be really strong."

In 2011, I suffered a severe injury. I tore a pectoral muscle while bench pressing. I was shocked and angry at myself. Why, 7 years after college sports, was I lifting heavy weights? Now, as an instructor pilot in the Navy, I couldn't fly, I couldn't workout, and I had a painful surgery and long recovery ahead. I was consumed with sadness and self-loathing. Leading up to this incident, I was a skeptic. I'd roll my eyes at stories of silver linings and turning lemons to lemonade. Sure, there might be some good outcomes from a 'positive mental attitude,' but not in most cases. My first reaction was to dwell on my misery and irresponsibility. But I had an entrepreneurial itch. Was this the best opportunity to take a shot at creating something with energy, inspiration, and purpose? During my Naval career, jumping rope became my favorite fitness tool. It was portable for all my traveling and always a fun challenge compared to boring cardio routines. Even better - I discovered weighted ropes. An amazing workout I didn't know existed. The ones I used broke due to terrible designs, but a seed was planted. What about a Cross-training jump rope? Amazing quality with ropes that can be swapped to provide an awesome variety of jump rope fitness experiences ... 'Crossrope.' I didn't have any business or fitness industry experience. Just a library card and determination. Many founders are touted as visionaries who saw the future and took bold action. I laugh because my experience has been the opposite. I began fearful of failure, but now Crossrope has far eclipsed what I could have imagined. That is a testament to the incredible team we've built that brings energy, talent, and purpose. Crossrope is definitely a different way to find joy in getting healthy and staying fit. Though there are many influences shaping our culture, but I love our core value of striving for continuous improvement. We bring enthusiastic efforts to employee experience, customer experience, and product development, synthesizing internal innovative ideas with customer feedback. It's been incredible to see the life-changing experience shares of our customers, the successes of our team, and momentum of Crossrope. I'm filled with gratitude every day and excited for the path we're on. If the idea of striving to become world-class at what you do in support of a mission to bring joy, confidence, and inspiration through jump rope fitness sounds interesting, take a look at our job openings or shoot me a note. We're excited to continue building an amazing team! ProjectME with Tiffany Carter – Entrepreneurship & Millionaire Mindset
This may be hard to hear but it has to be said. A basic coach and friend will tell you what you want to hear, a real coach and friend will tell you what you need to hear, and risk pissing you TF off. You've been half-assing your business while convincing yourself that you're really workin' it. Just because your busy doesn't mean you're getting down to business. My brain can be crazy manipulative, convincing me that I'm too tired, that I need to wait, that the circumstances aren't right, that I'll do it tomorrow… Truth is, if we want what we say we want, we prioritize it and find a way do what we need to do today, not tomorrow. What if I told you that if you prioritized your business and went ALL IN on it for the next 6 months, you would for sure be making 2x what you're earning now by the end of 2022? How would you show up for it differently than you are currently? My guess is you would invest significantly more time, energy, and money given you know the return on investment is GUARANTEED. The trick here is to operate as through your success is inevitable and the Universe will match that abundant energy and conviction >>> magnetizing it even further! This is exactly how I get my A-S-S into gear when I'm toe-dippin' on something I desire. To prove that this works to your resistant critical brain, I've invited Tanci Maree on the podcast today. She quit her beloved job as a teacher and basketball coach to create what is now a dance fitness brand taking over the nation and social media >> Turn Up™ with Tanci. Tanci started everything from scratch, didn't fully know what she was doing, had many set backs, and yet kept SHOWING TF UP. Now she has a flourishing brand with a community in the hundreds of thousands, all because she chose to show up knowing it would pay off in the end. MEET MY GUEST TANCI: Tanci took her love for dance fitness and is turning it into an empire that helps women turn up and show up for themselves.
