Home with Dean Sharp Hour 2 (08/08) - At the top of the second hour, our first caller’s wife bought inexpensive bathroom fixtures like faucets from Amazon, and after several years they have calcium and mineral deposits building up on them. What is the best way to clean these items? Our next caller is repainting her window sills, and needs to know if it’s better to use oil-based paint or a latex paint? Dean’s final caller had a bad, noncompliant repair job done to his cantilevered balcony and is wondering how best to redress that bad repair job.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Have you ever felt a strange sensation that seemed like a rubber band squeezing your Achilles tendon, shin, or foot? It may not be pain… But it might be one of the earliest warning signs that you're about to make a running injury worse. In this episode of the Doc On The Run Podcast, Dr. Christopher Segler introduces what he calls the "Rubber Band Sign"—a subtle sensation reported by runners with Achilles tendon injuries, tibial stress fractures, and metatarsal stress fractures that may signal increasing stress before significant pain develops. In this episode, you'll learn: • What the "Rubber Band Sign" feels like • Why runners describe it before pain develops • How it may relate to Achilles tendinosis and stress fractures • Why swelling around injured tissue may create this sensation • What to do if you notice it during your return to running • Why paying attention early may help you avoid a bigger setback The goal isn't simply recognizing another symptom. The goal is recognizing an early warning sign before your injury gets worse.

Our dogs regularly encounter and experience stressors, be it in their daily lives or when they are training or trialing in Scent Work. The number and type of stressor the dog must contend with at any one time will inform whether they can rise to the occasion or crumble under the pressure. Visualize a watermelon and wrapping a single rubber band around it. A stressor has been applied, but the watermelon is no worse for wear. However, if we then wrap hundreds or even thousands of rubber bands around that very same watermelon, the pressure has exponentially increased. There is a high possibility that the watermelon will dramatically explode due to the pressure being applied. In this episode, we dive deeper into this analogy and highlight the importance of identifying the unique rubber bands that exist for their individual dog. How can we accomplish this? By truly viewing our training and trialing scenarios from the dog's perspective. After listening to this episode, make a list of your dog's rubber bands and create a training plan to address each. We want our dogs to experience a stressor and then recover, not succumb to it! Speaker: Dianna L. “Today, we welcome a guitarist whose story feels almost too legendary to be real. Michael Hampton — the young phenom who walked into the Parliament‑Funkadelic galaxy at just seventeen and instantly became part of its gravitational pull. A Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, a torchbearer of the Mothership, and the man behind some of the most transcendent guitar moments in funk history. From the cosmic chaos of the P‑Funk stage to the spiritual electricity of his ‘Maggot Brain' performances, Hampton has always played like he's channeling something bigger — something ancient, futuristic, and deeply human all at once.Today, we dive into the journey of a quiet giant whose guitar has spoken louder than words for nearly five decades. Send us Fan MailPeanut butter whiskey gets the first roast, and somehow that turns into a full-on ranking of athletes and teams we just cannot stand. We build a Mount Rushmore of sports hate, from old NBA villains to college programs that ruined our peace, and we keep it real about why fandom sticks to your ribs. If you like sports talk that feels like the group chat, this one hits. Then we pivot into a relationship question that sounds simple until you picture it happening to you: what if you get married in private and tell nobody, but a friend “accidentally” congratulates your mom in public? We talk trust, boundaries, and how fast news travels now, especially when celebrity culture is built on leaks. That leads into the Zendaya and Tom Holland rumor mill and what it means when someone close to you lets the secret slip. Music lovers get fed too. We run a Trey Songz vs Joe mini Verzuz and argue every round, because R&B classics hit different depending on where you were in life when you first heard them. After that, we jump into entertainment news: Jack Harlow's Monica album, his “I got blacker” comment, and how context disappears once a clip hits social media. We close with hip hop drama around 50 Cent on Instagram, the Papoose and Claressa Shields situation, and a “hot thoughts” detour into the Epstein files and the wildest names we can imagine. This week, Hackaday's Elliot Williams and Kristina Panos met up over assorted beverages to bring you the latest news, mystery sound results show, and of course, a big bunch of hacks from the previous seven days or so. In the news, we've launched a brand-new contest! Yes, the Green-Powered Challenge is underway, and we need your entry to truly make it a contest. You have until April 24th to enter, so show us what you can do with power you scrounge up from the environment around you! On What's That Sound, Kristina was leaning toward some kind of distant typing sounds, but [Conrad] knew it was our own Tom Nardi's steam heat radiator pinging away. After that, it's on to the hacks and such, beginning with an exploration of all the gross security vulnerabilities in a cheap WiFi extender, and we take a look inside a little black and white pay television like you'd find in a Greyhound station in the 80s and 90s. We also discuss the idea of mixing custom spray paint colors on the fly, a pen clip that never bends out of shape, and running video through a guitar effects pedal. Finally, we discuss climate engineering with disintegrating satellites, and the curse of everything device. Check out the links on Hackaday if you want to follow along, and as always, tell us what you think about this episode in the comments!

Some Leonard Bernstein flavor, how to say it in less, and Mid-Fi. "Kevin Basko found himself making a living out of rock music in an Almost Famous-like way: Foxygen's Jonathan Rado texted him while Basko was on his way to the career fair at the Berklee College of Music. Under his own moniker Rubber Band Gun, Basko has been releasing music prolifically since 2013 with the intention of creating fully-realized concept albums, which he works on at his home studio called Historic New Jersey. He's also produced, engineered, or played on releases by Jackie Cohen, The Lemon Twigs, Jake Elijah, and more." Shut your sass hole, buddy. From our sass holes we bequeath denying god's light from the Frontier, showing off our new clothes to everyone in the world, learning more about Alex's Dad's Son's Sister Girlfriend, failing to show love in action, doing weird shit with butter and rubber bands, foreshadowing Nash via doomerism, continuing the denture saga, discussing tortoise turds, telling the same stories over and over, forgetting everything, and receiving the gift of anime. Bootsy Collins is, perhaps, the funkiest man of all time. Over the course of his nearly six decade career, Collins has given up the funk in the iconic Parliament Funkadelic, helmed Bootsy's Rubber Band, and lended his slaparific talents to songs from everybody from James Brown to Dee-Lite to Fatboy Slim. His new album, aptly titled Album of the Year #1 Funkateer, is on the way, so in celebration of his illustrious career, we invited Bootsy Collins – aka Casper the Funky Ghost – onto Switched on Pop to reminisce on some of his greatest hits.
