Kenya welcomes Shameek Cook, a versatile New York-based writer, author, and actor. The conversation begins with Shameek detailing his passionate journey into the world of film and screenwriting, a leap driven by his desire to embrace his true self. He shares the pivotal role of a supportive professor who recognized his gift for writing, and how his writing process continues to grow as he also blossoms as an actor. Shameek talks about the ways he has stayed busy during the strike, why we should view background acting as a mini film school, and the impactful story of Black Wall Street that he's excited to boldly share in the near future. Also Talked About: Shameek shares some great tools he uses for writing, including Movie Magic Screenwriter. Shameek loved his first experience on the set of Netflix's The Good Cop, which gave him that first taste of being close to the action. Being on set as much as possible can also provide the experience of a film-school-type education in a small amount of time without the burden of tuition. Shameek views background acting as more of an internship, shedding the stigma attached to it and embracing it as a learning opportunity for everything around acting, production, and general life on set. Learning to adapt your writing to cater to the audience is often something that happens best during the creation and filming process. Being on set has a transformative impact on Shameek, making him a better writer by enriching his storytelling skills and emotional depth. The industry's recent strike has affected Shameek, but he remains active and engaged, reflecting the resilience and adaptability of individuals in the field. While AI technologies continue to advance, Shameek and Kenya talk about the irreplaceable role of human emotion in storytelling and maintaining the heart element in the industry. Background acting gives you the opportunity to learn from the greats and fold them into your craft and style. Survey shows that consumer expectations for the fashion industry to treat workers fairly rank as high as expectations for environmental issues. Some results even show that consumers are willing to pay more for ethically produced clothing. That's why it's important to create ongoing visibility into wages throughout the supply chain; the same way, it's important to have visibility into products, materials, emissions, waste and more. We discussed the lives of Indian farmers and what challenges they face every day and how Farmizen is trying to fix those challenges. Key points: - remove short term incentives for the farmers and they will take care of the land (farmers working with Farmizen receive 4/5 times as much and it is predictable) - historically India had a very interesting natural farming practises, like Zero budget natural farming which Farmizen is bringing back with modern technology - when you reconnect consumers with farmers and the land, trust will build Tips from Shameek for investors who want to start investing in the Regenerative Agriculture space: - have a much longer investment horizon - both India and China are very interesting markets to look at from a regenerative agriculture point of view. Welcome to our Luke Cage Episode 1 Podcast. Our review of the first episode of season one of the brand new Marvel Netflix show Luke Cage entitled "Moment of Truth". We discuss our top 5 points in our Spoiler filled podcast all about the pilot episode. Make sure you sure you've watched the episode before listening to our podcast. Luke Cage Episode 1 Podcast "Moment of Truth" Spoiler filled Synopsis Written by Cheo Hodari Coker Directed by Paul McGuigan After the destruction and loss of his bar in Hell's Kitchen a penniless Luke Cage (Mike Colter) moves back to Harlem. He takes on two low-key jobs one at Pop's Barbers and the other as a kitchen hand in a local club as he tries to figure out what to do next and so as not to draw unnecessary attention to his powerful new abilities. However, Harlem is in flux as rival gang leaders Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes (Mahershala Ali) and Diamondback seek new partnerships and to influence the political campaign of Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard). As Luke is forced front of house at Cottonmouth's Club, Harlem's Paradise, he encounters Diamondback's enforcer, Shades (Theo Rossi), that brings back painful memories of his time in Seagate Prison. Meanwhile an important money exchange between the two gangs is crashed by Shameek (Jermel Howard) and Chico (Brian 'Sene' Marc), both known to Luke Cage. As retribution falls on Shameek and Cottonmouth attempts to recover his money, Detectives Misty Knight (Simone Missick) and Rafael Scarfe (Frank Whaley) investigate the series of killings linked to the failed money exchange and Luke Cage becomes increasingly embroiled in the Harlem scene as an unwilling defender. Congratulations to Frederik Tellerup our winner of our Summer of Strange prize pack including a Doctor Strange Funko Pop, baseball cap, the two prequel comics and digital code for even more Doctor Strange comics.
