In today's solo episode, I share a personal journey into how blending traditional meditation with modern neurofeedback technology is transforming my approach to stress, focus, and decision-making. I kick things off by reminding you of my Lifetime Consultant offer available at beyondcmo.com—a resource I've developed to help entrepreneurs navigate the complex challenges of scaling their businesses. The JourneyI've been in the entrepreneurial game for decades, and I know firsthand how critical mental clarity and focus are when you're running a business. Recently, I decided to take my meditation practice to the next level since I've always believed that the mind is like a muscle that needs regular training. Why Meditation MattersMeditation isn't just about sitting quietly—it's a way to rewire your brain, reduce stress, and boost decision-making. Even a short, consistent daily practice (5–10 minutes) can lower cortisol levels, improve sleep quality, and strengthen the brain areas that help you stay sharp under pressure. The Sens.ai ExperimentI mentioned in a previous episode that Paola Telfer—who's been on the show before—introduced me to her company Sens.ai. Sens.ai provided me with a cutting-edge neurofeedback device that monitors brainwave activity and gives real-time feedback on my focus levels. How It WorksNeurofeedback: The headset alerts me when my mind starts to wander so I can refocus immediately.Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Training: It guides me through breathing exercises, helping sync my heart rate with my breath, a crucial tool for managing stress.Light Therapy: Using specific wavelengths of light, the device either boosts alertness or promotes relaxation. This part of the system fine-tunes my brain in a way that's similar to how athletes train their bodies. What I've Noticed So FarI'm integrating this device into my routine twice a day—once to kick off my morning and again to unwind at night. The real-time feedback is eye-opening. When the device signals that I'm drifting, it's like a little wake-up call to clear out that “monkey brain” and get back to center. While it's early days in my experiment, I'm already seeing signs of improved focus and better stress management. Consistency is key, and I plan to share more updates as I track my progress.Key Quote“If we can optimize our business with data-driven strategies, why not apply the same principles to our personal performance?” – A.J. LawrenceActionable Insights:Start Small: Dedicate 5–10 minutes daily to meditation and gradually build up.Use Feedback: Experiment with neurofeedback tools or meditation apps to track your progress.Build Consistency: Treat your meditation sessions like a non-negotiable business meeting.Experiment: Try different meditation techniques (mindfulness, focus, loving-kindness) to see what best suits your needs.Reflect: Journal your experiences to adjust your routine for better results.Connect with Sens.ai:Interested in the technology behind the device? Balancing business growth with family life has been a challenge for me for years. As a husband and father of three wonderful children, everything I do is with my family in mind. I've often found myself grinding, trying to scale, but feeling stuck in the day-to-day operations. When I heard Brian Keane, fitness entrepreneur and ultra-endurance athlete, talk about how scalable business models can automate growth, it really struck a chord. He talks about how automating repetitive tasks, delegating what doesn't need your personal attention, and setting up systems can free up time and energy - and that's the real win.About Brian KeaneBrian Keane, a fitness entrepreneur and the CEO of Brian Keane Fitness LLC, has built a thriving business by combining his passion for health with smart, scalable strategies. A former elementary school teacher, Brian transitioned into the fitness world in 2012, becoming a professional fitness model and setting up his own business. He has since become a 3-time bestselling author and the host of one of the top health podcasts globally. His journey includes incredible endurance feats, like running six back-to-back marathons through the Sahara Desert, 230km through the Arctic Circle, and finishing in the top 10 of the Jackpot 100-mile ultra marathon in 2020. Over the years, Brian has grown his business by offering high-ticket coaching, bestselling books, and evergreen online courses that run on autopilot. His approach has allowed him to create a lifestyle of freedom, where he focuses on his passions while the business grows.Key Insights:Optimize with data and feedback. Regularly review what's working by using tools like customer feedback, analytics, and automation metrics to continually improve and optimize business processes.Develop evergreen products. Create products or courses that you build once and sell repeatedly. Brian's evergreen fitness courses generate passive income with minimal ongoing work.Automate key processes. Identify repetitive tasks in your business like customer onboarding, email marketing, or payments, and use software to automate them. Tools like Zapier, automated emails, or CRMs can help you streamline these tasks efficiently.Focus on niche markets. Narrow your target audience to a specific niche where you can offer specialized products or services. This can help you stand out from competitors and better meet the unique needs of your audience.Build a strong personal brand. Invest time in building your personal brand through content creation, public speaking, and appearances. Establish yourself as an authority in your field, which will naturally attract more clients and opportunities.Brian's best advice for entrepreneurs:“Create a business you never want to retire from; longevity is the secret to wealth creation.”Connect with Brian Keane:InstagramFacebookYouTubeFollow Beyond 8 Figures:LinkedInXWebsite
Being adaptable isn't just a nice-to-have—it's essential for any entrepreneur who wants to see their business thrive for years to come. Flexibility in business helps you to navigate unexpected challenges, seize new opportunities, and pivot when necessary. My interview with Bakari Akil reminded me of just how important it is to build your business with that flexibility at the core, so that you can effectively address any changes in the market without having to reinvent your operations every single time. About Bakari AkilBakari Akil is an experienced entrepreneur and investor with a strong background in acquisitions and business development. As the Managing Director of Graves Hall Capital, Bakari has successfully led the acquisition of several companies, demonstrating a keen eye for identifying valuable opportunities. His approach to entrepreneurship is rooted in flexibility and adaptability, allowing him to navigate complex deals and build a diverse portfolio of businesses.Other than his work in acquisitions, Bakari loves sharing his knowledge and experiences in digital nomadism. He has traveled extensively while managing his ventures, proving that with the right strategy, business can be conducted from anywhere in the world. Key Insights:Diversify your investments. I've always believed in spreading your business interests across different industries. This way, if one area faces challenges, others can keep your overall business stable.teDelegate to experts. Hire experienced professionals to handle daily operations. This frees you up to focus on strategic decisions and big-picture growth instead of wasting your time on small tasks. Prioritize recurring revenue. Look for businesses with steady, recurring revenue. This ensures a reliable cash flow and helps your business stay resilient.Do your homework. Always visit and verify business operations in person before making any big decisions. This ensures you're getting exactly what you expect.Avoid depending on key individuals. Structure your business so that its success isn't tied to one person. This makes transitions smoother and reduces risk of making your operations stuck because someone isn't there. Bakari's best advice for entrepreneurs:"As an investor, it's important to be on location to see the business and evaluate it. [...] You really need to come there and make sure that the operations actually exist, that somebody's not selling you a business that actually is not there."Connect with Bakari Akil:LinkedInInstagramYouTubeFollow Beyond 8 Figures:LinkedInXWebsite

In this informative and introspective episode of Business Growth Talks, host Mark Hayward delves into the often-understated realities of entrepreneurship. Stripping away the glamorous exterior portrayed on social media, Mark offers a candid glimpse into the complexities and pressures faced by individuals at the helm of their ventures. As an entrepreneur of four years, Mark candidly discusses the frequently lonely journey of business ownership, the weight of responsibility that rests solely on decision-makers' shoulders, and the critical importance of properly managing employees and clients. He outlines the stark contrast between employee life and the relentless nature of entrepreneurship, emphasizing that success hinges on the crucial decisions made by an often-solitary figure at the top. Although entrepreneurship can yield greater flexibility and personal reward, Mark stresses the perpetual commitment required, highlighting this path isn't suitable for everyone.Key Takeaways:Entrepreneurship often presents a facade of glamour, while in reality, it is a challenging and sometimes lonely endeavour. The onus of decision-making rests with the entrepreneur, which can be both a blessing and a burden.Employee management is of utmost importance, as a happy and supported team will ensure customer satisfaction.Business ownership offers lifestyle flexibility and personal growth, but it also demands constant availability and attention. It's essential to recognize that entrepreneurship isn't the best path for everyone; some may thrive more as employees.Support the Show.Do you want to be a guest on multiple podcasts as a service go to:www.podcastintroduction.comFind more details about the podcast and my coaching business on:www.businessgrowthtalks.comDo you want to be a podcaster? Hi everyone! I want to fill you all in on why I took a 3 month break! Let's catch up !
We all strive to live our best lives. But how to make that possible? The answer is long-term planning for optimal health and peak performance, and Sam Tejada of Liquivida showed us how in this episode. Sam believes that gradual, consistent effort has the potential to result in big rewards, be it in terms of health or other areas of life. He emphasizes the importance of bringing your best both physically and mentally as an entrepreneur and shares his regimen for achieving mental clarity and a stronger sense of presence.About Sam Tejada:Sam Tejada is the founder of Liquivida—a brand dedicated to promoting holistic health and wellness. Being a health enthusiast himself, Sam passionately advocates for the benefits of proper nutrition and wellness practices to boost productivity, mental clarity, and overall life quality. His personalized approach to optimizing health has helped many individuals find balance and upgrade their overall performance.Sam is a longtime entrepreneur who started his first business at the early age of 19. As a retired firefighter and paramedic, he launched Rescue-101, an esteemed provider of lifesaving training courses. Given his background as an emergency medical professional, he understands well the value of staying fit, healthy, and productive as an entrepreneur and is on a mission to promote health and wellness. Driven by his vision, Sam is eager to venture into politics and secure a position in local government, with the ultimate goal of bringing about change in the fields of medicine and business.Key Insights:Embrace your struggles. The challenges in your life make who you are. They mold your character and shape your journey towards success. Remember, adversity often leads to perseverance and resilience. So, use these as opportunities to become stronger, wiser, and more resilient. (03:03)Balance entrepreneurship with health. As Sam points out, you need to respect and nurture your well-being as much as your work. Otherwise, the unchecked scales can tip and lead you away from your goals. You can strike a balance between your health and work through responsible long-term planning, leading to not just a successful business but a fulfilling life. (09:38)Stay consistent. Consistent efforts, even when they're small, can yield big results over time. This goes for both your business and personal health goals. Consistency may seem difficult to maintain, but start by committing to it and making it a habit. Try sticking to a routine, even if it's a simple morning ritual, until it becomes an inherent pattern. (16:00)Support your franchisees. If you are a franchisor, your relationship with your franchisees extends beyond business. Acting as a mentor, offering them the tools and support they need, can help them to thrive. Your franchisees' success is inherently linked to your own. (20:34)Practice what you preach. Living by this principle ensures integrity and credibility. Regularly check on the progress towards planned tasks while sticking to the values and standards you expect of others. Your actions speak louder than words, so make sure they align with the commitments and objectives you set out. (24:12)Sam's best advice for entrepreneurs:“If you don't define your personal definition of success, you're actually working towards absolutely nothing in life.” (34:27)Connect with Sam:LinkedInInstagramFacebookPersonal WebsiteResources Mentioned:LiquividaFollow Beyond 8 Figures:LinkedinTwitterWebsite

That's why it's important to learn to optimize sleep to set yourself up for success and improve your well-being. In this episode, Mollie Eastman (McGlocklin) sheds light on the forgotten skill set of sleep and how we can optimize sleep through technology and behavioral change.About Mollie Eastman (McGlocklin):Mollie Eastman (McGlocklin) is the creator of Sleep Is A Skill, a groundbreaking company that helps people sleep better through a unique blend of technology, accountability, and behavioral change. After struggling with insomnia herself for years, she decided to take matters into her own hands and create a place for learning the skill set of sleep. With a background in behavioral change from The Nonverbal Group and personal experience with overcoming sleep deprivation, Mollie is now on a mission to spread the skill set of Sleep through Circadian Biology. She also hosts her own podcast called The Sleep is a Skill, writes an educational sleep newsletter, Sleep Obsessions, and has a sleep course, Optimize Your Sleep.Episode highlights: Healing your relationship with sleep can do wonders for your entrepreneurial lifestyle. Not only can it make you more productive and focused, but it can also help improve your overall health. (06:20) Successful entrepreneurs are the best problem-solvers. They find a problem, and they become a solution. How do they do that? By staying laser-focused on their niche and fixing its most burning issues. (8:42) Digital tools are a great way to optimize sleep and outsource self-care, which is a win-win for busy entrepreneurs. For instance, Mollie suggests using the Oura ring as a good starting place for those looking to prioritize their sleep and improve their sleep quality because it tracks your sleep cycle and provides helpful data. (15:18) Your circadian rhythm dictates your wake-sleep cycle, but it also plays a vital role in your overall well-being and business performance. To stay on top of your game, it's important to learn to regulate your circadian rhythms by keeping a consistent sleep schedule, getting enough light exposure, and moving your body daily. (21:24) Exposure to morning sunlight can significantly improve your sleep quality, performance at work, and overall health. By getting at least 30 minutes of sun when you wake up, you can balance your circadian rhythm and kickstart your body's sleep-wake cycle, leading to positive changes in your sleep patterns. You also set yourself up for a productive day and peak performance. (25:17) Consistency is key to healthy sleep. Going to bed and waking at the same time every day can drastically improve your sleep, strengthen your body's immune system, and ultimately help you achieve maximum productivity and focus, that are so needed in business. (31:31) There are countless ways to optimize your sleep. From shifting your sleep-wake cycle to tracking your sleep, you can leverage different tools and try out different methods to make a huge impact on your sleep efficiency. And improved sleep means better mental capacity to grow your business and guide your decision-making. (45:11) Mollie's best advice for entrepreneurs:“[...] what we like to have people do is the bare minimum, create an anchoring system for the start of their day. [...] that allows your body over time, this will feel very uncomfy for the beginning, but over time you're in training your hormones to have proper cortisol pulse on the front half of the day.” (24:40) Connect with Mollie: Instagram LinkedIn Twitter Resources Mentioned: Oura Ring Sleep is a Skill Biostrap Muse Headband Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art by James Nestor Time Shifter App The Sleep Is A Skill Podcast Follow Beyond 8 Figures: Linkedin Twitter Website
