An album pin is a lapel pin with artwork inspired by a specific album or song from an album. It could be the actual album artwork or it could be inspired by a specific track on the album. The best album pins stand out on their own. They appeal to more than just your fans. It is simple, bold, and visually engaging. However, what truly makes it an “album pin” is that the purchaser also gets a digital album with their pin. I have an entire blog on my website with details including templates for you to make your own album pin jacket.
Clare FM's Derrick Lynch Speaking With Eimear Considine On Spanish Point LGFA Semi Final
John Burke and the team at the Armada Hotel are no doubt on a high, after their big success at The Irish Times Business Awards. The Spanish Point hotel was chosen as the Local Business of the Year at the 7th edition of the awards. It's a real feather in their cap. To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey was joined by Armada Hotel General Manager, Frank Minogue. Photo (C): Hedrick Sulaiman Getty Images Via Canva
How would you like to take part in Squid Game...but without the physical violence? Miltown LGFA, along with St. Joseph's Miltown Malbay GAA Club and St. Joseph's Secondary School Spanish Point, have joined forces to create an offshoot of the popular Netflix TV show, where hundreds of cash-strapped contestants accept an invitation to compete in children's games for a tempting prize, but the stakes are deadly. While Quid Game in Miltown Malbay may not contain such deadly stakes, it promises to be a test of skill, patience, wits, and endurance. The aim of Quid Game is to raise funds for the development of a new training pitch. To learn more about it, Alan Morrissey was joined by chairperson of Miltown GAA, Francis Lynch, and principal of St Joseph's Secondary School in Spanish Point, Paul Reidy. It's hoped legacy water disruptions in a bustling West Clare town will finally be coming to an end this Summer. Uisce Eireann has confirmed it will be replacing 6km of defective 50-year-old mains on the Coore water scheme which also serves the surrounding areas of Mullagh, Quilty, Spanish Point and Annagh. The works will commence in March and are expected to be complete by mid June. Quilty Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Shannon says it's crucial for the region's tourism product.
On Monday's Morning Focus, we heard all about the difficulties faced by people around Clare who are having to get by without power, due to the outages caused by Storm Eowyn. Thankfully, we also heard from the Armada Hotel in Spanish Point and St. Joseph's Secondary School in Tulla, who have opened their doors to allow people to eat hot food, wash themselves and charge their phones. Others have come up with rather clever approaches to dealing with the power outages such as using their cars as a power source. To find out more about this, Alan Morrissey was joined by Kildysart resident, Paraic O'Sullivan. Photo (c): pattia from PattPaulStudio via Canva

I attached a screenshot so people know what the icon looks like. (It may also be on IOS, but I'm not sure.) Shel O'Toole emailed: "Hi Marc, I usually listen to your show when I'm working from home but podcast # 681 Lady of the House I saved for my drive back home from a visit to my sister. Listening to the music brought memories of my father who played numerous instruments, solo and with others. The banjo was my favourite (which Is probably why I play banjo), followed by the accordion, he had both button and piano accordions, and the fiddle. He also played harmonica, piano and even the gum leaf (definitely an Australian thing). I took my father's violin which I had restored recently so my sister could see it for herself. It was in a terrible state when it came to me but its voice is restored and it's very pleasant. Now the challenge of learning to play. I look forward to the podcast every week, so thanks Marc for all you do and for the magic you create in weaving together the music of Ireland and the music influenced by Ireland and the stories of the people who are touched by the force of the Celts. Warm regards"

However just within the last few weeks it has completely disappeared! It will not even come up on a search, which is crazy because your music CDs do. How odd. Did you get some sort of notification from Amazon Prime Music that your podcast was no longer going to be available? I will have to figure out a new way to listen to it and I will! I just enjoyed the convenience as I am not able to stream music much at work (bandwidth) but Amazon Prime Music seemed to always work. There's good news though, your Celtic Christmas podcasts are still available on Amazon Prime! Love it always, any time of the year. " Patrick Rieger emailed some photos: "Hi Marc, My family and I have been busy the past month with a stop at our favorite pub and two renaissance festivals, so I'll be sending a few emails about the incredible musicians we enjoyed. On August 24, we went to Mullaney's Harp & Fiddle to see John McCann and Hamish, and an hour after they started everyone, including John and Hamish, got a surprise: the third member of the Corned Beef and Curry Band dropped in, Bob Banerjee. Bob is the most incredible fiddle player I have ever seen, and he has an endless number of bad jokes. He is the curry in the band's name, having been born in India. So for a few hours, this great band was back together. Irish musician Mark Guiser was in the audience that night, and was invited onto the stage for a few songs. Two wedding parties then dropped in for some post - reception fun. The energy, excitement and fun hadn't been that high at the Harp in a long time, and my wife and I only left because our son needed to get to bed. In one photo is The Corned Beef & Curry Band, from left to right, John McCann, Bob Banerjee, and Hamish, In the other, Mark Guiser and Bob. They were playing Hallelujah with Mark singing."

It's claimed the people of Miltown have been "sold a disaster" due to persistent water outages affecting homes and businesses in the region. It's after a burst main led to supply disruptions in the Coore, Quilty, Mullagh,Miltown Malbay, Spanish Point and Cooraclare areas for the second time in the space of a month. The West Clare Municipal District has since requested a meeting with Senior Management in Uisce Eireann and Clare's Oireachtas members with a view to securing capital funding to upgrade the 50-year-old pipeline serving the network. Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Shane Talty says the situation is completely unacceptable.

That's when our Declaration of Independence was ratified by the Second Continental Congress establishing the United States of America as an independent country. The fight against tyranny is never complete. That was the lesson of January 6th in our country when a failed former president tried to usurp control of our country. Fortunately, he was defeated by law - abiding, just Americans. The threat is still here. So this week, we're celebrating Independence Day with Celtic music. The Celts also know what it means to be oppressed by tyrants. We have a whole slew of songs on the topic. Today, we're gonna share a small sampling of songs of independence and freedom by Celtic musicians. It's also officially Plastic Free July. You can help break free from the single - use plastic problem by refusing them in the month of July so we can have cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities. An urgent meeting between Clare County Council and Uisce Éireann is being sought to ensure the county's tourism-dependent regions can enjoy adequate water supply going forward. Following supply interruptions in West Clare due to a burst main on the Old Doolough supply on Sunday, Uisce Éireann has confirmed supply has been returned to customers in Miltown Malbay, Spanish Point, Quilty, Mullagh, Coore, Creegh, Cooraclare, Cahermurphy and surrounding area. With fears having been expressed that outages could be experienced during the upcoming Willie Clancy Week, the water utility has claimed there are no planned outages in the area from July 6th to 14th. Cathaoirleach of the West Clare Municipal District and Doonbeg Fianna Fáil Councillor Rita McInerney says she believes engagement is needed with Uisce Éireann to ensure they appreciate the importance of reliable water supply in West Clare.
Design Bank, a popup creative space in Miltown Malbay opened over the weekend and will run until the latter end of this month. To find out more about it, Alan Morrissey spoke with the organiser, Aoife O'Malley, the Chairman of North Clare Communities Group, Tom Barrett and Kevin Keane, a potter based in Spanish Point.
Clare's newly-appointed Seasonal Dog Warden says she'll strive to make the county's beaches safe spaces for all this summer. The local authority has bolstered its beach patrols for the summer bathing season in order to combat issues such as dog fouling and dog attacks. Clare FM's Seán Lyons reports. ===== With the summer bathing season now well underway, Clare County Council has vowed to take a dogged approach to beach safety. From May 15th up to September 15th, a host of beaches across the county are monitored for dog control. The monitored areas are Ballyalla Lake, Ballycuggeran, Killaloe, Bishopsquarter, Brew's Bridge, Cappagh, Carrigaholt, Doolin, Fanore, Kilkee, Lahinch, Mountshannon, Querrin Pier, Quilty, Seafield, Spanish Point, Trá Leathan, White Strand Doonbeg and White Strand Miltown Malbay. To facillitate these patrols, Annette Kenny has been appointed as Seasonal Dog Warden for the county. She says her role isn't to prevent people from enjoying the summer months with their canine companions but to ensure everyone feels safe and secure when visiting the county's waterways. [CLIP] Beach bye-laws restrict dogs from being on beaches from 11am to 6pm throughout the bathing season. Long-serving Clare County Dog Warden Frankie Coote insists this is necessary as violent incidents have taken place in the past. He says stern consequences will face those who fail to rein in their pets.
A very special evening is in store later in Spanish Point. Uisce Eireann is being urged to prioritise the enhancement of water and wastewater infrastructure in Miltown Malbay following renewed supply disruptions this weekend. It's after a burst main led to outages in the Coore, Mullagh, Miltown Malbay and Spanish Point areas yesterday afternoon; leaving bars, restaurants and public toilets without water during a peak visitor period. In a statement to Clare FM, Uisce Eireann says crews were immediately deployed to carry out repairs and that supply is now returning to all impacted customers. Clare Independent TD and MEP Elect Michael McNamara says the repeated occurrence is unacceptable.
Spanish Point will be the location for what is being described as a “series of special immersive, sensory & bilingual experiences by the sea” this coming weekend. In response, the West Clare Municipal District has now announced that the toilets will be maintained and kept open for weekends throughout the season. Corofin Fianna Fáil Councillor Joe Killeen says the move will ensure visitors are not inconvenienced.
The Taoiseach has claimed that an announcement on sewerage schemes for Cooraclare and Broadford should be made by the end of the year. Last April, Clare County Council put both villages forward as part of a €50m pilot scheme aiming to provide wastewater treatment services in unsewered settlements. Each local authority was only allowed to submit two applications, meaning areas such as Carrigaholt, Spanish Point and Doolin missed out. Speaking in the Dáil in response to Scariff Independent TD Michael McNamara, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says he's hopeful that the successful projects as well as a second funding round will soon be confirmed.

“I've never felt so free,” says Kerry about her time in Ireland recently, which is what we're talking about for one more episode in a series, Kerry's travel series, before we move along to Brian's upcoming vacation. This week on Outlook we're wrapping up co-host Kerry's Ireland stories with a show full of audio clips she collected on her travels. From the waves at Spanish Point to kick off the show, to water lapping by the seaside to end it - with sounds of the ocean, a sheep farm, and the train (please mind the gap) and rain, a common enough Irish sound. Plus, she's included a blurb of her mapping out one of the hotel rooms and hotel layout when finding breakfast with the tour group. Kerry loves her soundscapes (where photos do no good to capture memories for you when traveling blind) and so this one's sprinkled with them throughout, along with a discussion on mental mapping and maps and accessibility when traveling, both independently and interdependently. So before Brian's off on his own UK adventure in September, join Outlook and take an audio tour of the trip right along with Kerry.

Communities in North & West Clare are being called upon to engage with the county council on draft parking bye-laws proposed for prominent visitor attractions in the region. The planned bye-laws would see minimum parking charges of €2 for a three hour stay introduced at Spanish Point, White Strand-Miltown-Malbay, Kilkee, Fanore, Lahinch and Doolin. Disabled drivers and residents living in close proximity to the designated areas will be able to avail of permits, while the public will have up to August 22nd to submit their observations to Clare County Council. Ennistymon Fianna Fáil Councillor, Shane Talty says it is vital locals take the opportunity to put their concerns forward.
The Housing Minister has suggested multiple unsewered communities in Clare could receive funding for wastewater infrastructure. A €50 million pilot scheme was launched in April 2022 to provide water treatment facilities to rural communities across Ireland that are currently without these vital services. It is understood that over 20 applications have been received by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, with Carrigaholt, Doolin, Spanish Point, Broadford and Cooraclare all understood to have applied. In response to a parliamentary question from Meelick-based Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe, Minister Darragh O'Brien says while he can't confirm when the projects will be commenced, it is possible multiple developments could be approved within the same county.
Fresh calls are being made for the expedited development of Wastewater infrastructure in vulnerable communities in Clare. Red flags have been erected at White Strand - Miltown Malbay & Spanish Point following the identification of high levels of bacteria in bathing samples at both locations. Spanish Point is among the areas in the county not served by any treatment plant, while Uisce Eireann's plans to upgrade the facility at Miltown Malbay won't see investment until at least 2025. Ennistymon based Fianna Fáíl Councillor, Shane Talty believes repetitive beach closures have the potential to cause reputational damage.
Business owners and tourists are expressing deep disappointment, after a do-not-swim notice put in place at a west Clare beach has led to a "noticeable drop-off" in footfall locally. Clare County Council has erected red flags at Spanish Point & White Strand Miltown Malbay, on the advice of the HSE, following the detection of high levels of bacteria in bathing samples at both locations.

The Minister for Public Expenditure has committed to increasing finances available for towns and villages in Clare without access to wastewater infrastructure. The government announced a €50 million pilot plan last April to establish essential sewage treatment facilities in unswered communities nationwide. However, the cost of works required for vibrant tourist settlements in Clare such as Doolin, Spanish Point ,Miltown Malbay & Carrigaholt are mooted to surpass the entire national fund. Responding to a query from Scariff-based Independent TD Michael McNamara, Minister Pascal Donohoe assured the scheme would be reconsidered.
On Tuesday's Morning Focus, Alan was joined by John Burke who is the Owner and CEO of the Armada Hotel in Spanish Point. John discussed his delight at the Armada Hotel achieving B Corp Certification, becoming the first hotel in the country to hold the global accolade for it's commitment to positively impacting people and the planet. He outlined the level of work required in achieving B Corp Certification while highlighting the goals of the Armada hotel. John hopes the efforts made within the Armada hotel and the local community will inspire others to do the same across Ireland.
The Taoiseach inists Uisce Eireann are analysing all feasible options to provide suitable wastewater infrastructure to communities in West Clare. Spanish Point, Doolin & Carraigaholt are among the tourist hotspots without such services, while the utility formerly known as Irish Water pleaded guilty to five counts of breaking environmental laws in connection with wastewater contamination in Miltown Malbay last year. However Clare Indpendent TD has raised the possibility of the Seafield treatment plant in Quilty taking on the additional workload as the site is currently operating at just 51% of its capacity. Responding to the Scariff Deputy, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says a strategic investment is underway to determine the best approach going forward.
On Thursday's Morning Focus, Alan took a trip to Spanish Point to meet up with June Curtin for her 63rd and final dip in the ocean in aid of The Midwest Simon Community. Many US communities have been impacted by their local icons. These icons work hard in their own professions but in reality elevate the entire community towards greater prosperity while molding the local culture though their philanthopy, leadership and vision. Today I am very pleased to welcome Michael Klauber of https://bestfood.com/ (Michael's on East). I'd wager if a vote were ever taken for the title of Mr. Sarasota, Michael would win hands-down. For over 40 years, Michael and partner Phil Mancini have owned and operated the iconic Michael's on East restaurant. But what most people don't know is Michael also owns an event and catering business that serves https://www.michaelsoneastcatering.com/ (Spanish Point) and https://bestfood.com/restaurant/selby-house-cafe (Selby Gardens). He has an outstanding wine store that was recently awarded Best of Excellence in Wine Spectator Magazine. He is a Founding Member of Sarasota-Manatee Originals. an organization dedicated to promoting and sustaining the local independent area restaurants in order to promote local culture and local flavors. Plus he leads international wine tours to far-away places like South Africa. And if that wasn't enough for a lifetime of work, starting in 2013 Michael was the catalyst for the redesign for the Sarasota waterfront know as: https://bayparkconservancy.thebaysarasota.org/ (The Bayfront Park Conservancy). Today, we'll learn from Michael …. How his upbringing and early training helped him launch the famous Michael's on East in 1987 …. Where his drive and creativity comes from …. How he led his team through the pandemic …. How the Bayfront Park idea started …. And much, much more. I'm so glad you joined us today and as always it is my hope that you will listen, learn and connect!
