Andrew Walworth, RCP White House correspondent Phil Wegmann and Unherd Washington correspondent Emily Jashinsky discuss the spate of new books being released on the Biden presidency, all of which recount efforts to hide Biden's cognitive decline from the public. They also talk about the beginning of the Senate's marathon debate over the budget resolution, and whether politicial pressure from constituents will lead any additional GOP members of Congress to break ranks with President Trump over tariffs. Next, Andrew talks to former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who chaired the President's 2017 Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis. Christie explains why he thinks it's essential that Medicaid continue to provide access to treatment for opioid addiction, and gives his views on the Trump Administration's accomplishments to date. And lastly, Carl Cannon talks to Columbia University Professor of Linguistics - John McWhorter about his new book, "Pronoun Trouble: The Story of Us in Seven Little Words".

It's Tuesday, December 17h, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Nigerian pastor killed by Muslim extremist On December 6th, another Christian pastor was killed in Nigeria, Africa -- this time in Jalingo, a town in the Taraba State.  A Christian woman was also killed around the same time. Residents report at least a hundred killings in the area since the beginning of the year — as far as those that have been reported. The murders are conducted by Muslim extremists. The top 10 most dangerous nations in the world, according to their murder rates per 100,000 people, are El Salvador, Jamaica, Lesotho, Honduras, Belize, Venezuela, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, South Africa, St. Kitts, and Nigeria. Pray for Christians ministering in these areas today.  Swiss gov't removed 16-year-old girl from parents over trans issue SWISS FATHER: “They've put aside 16 years of absolute commitment to our child and have taken away our child based on the lie that a person can be born in their own body. The story is truly a nightmare.” This Swiss father, along with his wife, featured in that YouTube clip, have lost their daughter by court order. Their crime?  They refused to allow her to try to change her God-given gender.   After appealing to Switzerland's Supreme Court with support from Alliance Defending Freedom, the couple lost the battle. The court ruled that the father and mother must “endorse [the child's] gender transition and enable their child's legal ‘sex change' or face the possibility of criminal charges.” Brazilian currency lost 20% of value The Brazilian real has lost 20% of its value against the U.S. dollar since the election of the socialist, Lula da Silva, in October 2022. Turkey and Mexico's currencies also weakened in 2024. And the American dollar weakened in reference to most other major currencies this year. Canada's Justin Trudeau on brink of resigning Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a leftist, is on the brink of resigning as his liberal government crumbles around him, reports Canadian Television News.  Trudeau, age 52, is “considering his options as leader,” sources have told the broadcaster, while his Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland quit. Freeland quit on Monday after clashing with Trudeau on issues including how to handle possible U.S. tariffs, dealing a huge blow to an already unpopular government. In a stinging resignation letter, Freeland dismissed Trudeau's push for increased spending as a political gimmick that could hurt Ottawa's ability to deal with the 25 percent import tariffs U.S. President-elect Donald Trump says he will impose. The resignation by Freeland, age 56, who also served as deputy prime minister, is one of the biggest crises Trudeau has faced since taking power in November 2015.  It also leaves him without a key ally when he is on track to lose the next election to Pierre Poilievre, the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. U.S. 30-year-fixed mortgage rate almost 7% The U.S. 30-year-fixed mortgage rate is scraping 7%, up from 6.2% back in October.  WolfStreet.com estimates that the sale of 4.02 million existing homes this year  is the lowest number since 1995.  Two by Twos cult involved in child abuse A New York Post article addresses an anti-Trinitarian cult called “The Way” or “The Two by Twos” — being investigated by the FBI and other law enforcement organizations for extensive child abuse. An on-line resource called AdvocatesForTheruth.com alleges over 2,000 abuse cases, pointing to 910 unique abusers - 40% of whom were workers.  The cult was formed in 1897 by a Scottish cleric by the name of William Irvine. Mormon cult child abuse Also, as of December 10th of this year,  91 civil lawsuits have been filed in California courts alleging child sexual abuse against Mormon leadership and congregants. The cases involve 20 bishops, 20 elders, 8 missionaries, and 5 high priests, among others.  There are 977 Mormon wards in the Golden State. Keep in mind the cautionary note from Jeremiah 17:9.  “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it?” Texas Attorney General sues over Abortion Kill Pill The State of Texas -- under the auspices of Attorney General Ken Paxton -- is suing a New York doctor for administering an abortion pill by telehealth to a Texas resident.   This represents one of the first challenges to the shield laws put up by pro-abortion states for doctors who aid in the killing of babies in pro-life states. In response,  New York Attorney General Letitia James issued this statement.  She sad, “Abortion is, and will continue to be, legal and protected in New York. As other states move to attack those who provide or obtain abortion care, New York is proud to be a safe haven for abortion access.” What are these strange drones in the sky? Strange drone sightings have spread from New Jersey into Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Connecticut and Ohio.   World Net Daily suggests that the drones are operated by the CIA in order to detect a dirty bomb. And former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has called for “state police to be able to have the authority to bring those drones down,” and for the Biden administration to tell the nation “what they are doing.”  Appearing on ABC's This Week on Sunday, Christie said this. CHRISTIE: “I've lived in New Jersey my whole life. This is the first time that I've noticed drones over my house. The Biden administration and state authorities have to be more vocal and let people know exactly what they're doing. “They hear about drones being deployed in Ukraine all the time as weapons, and U.S. deploying drones as weapons at times. So, you can see why people are concerned. It's a lack of communication from the government at the federal and state level that's at fault here.” Planned Parenthood killing 20% more babies now Planned Parenthood is killing more babies than ever — a 20% increase over the last 10 years. The business ended the lives of 392,715 babies in the 2022-2023 fiscal year. That's up from 327,166 dead babies ten years earlier. Over the past ten years, Planned Parenthood killed a total of 3.8 million babies, and has taken in a whopping $6.5 billion in taxpayer funding.   Taxpayers provided $700 million to the abortion business during the 2022-2023 fiscal year,  reports LiveAction.org. We pray Psalm 9:19-20 today: “Arise, O Lord, Do not let man prevail; Let the nations be judged in Your sight. Put them in fear, O Lord, that the nations may know themselves to be but men.” Jordan Peterson moving to America And finally, psychologist and media personality Jordan Peterson is moving to the United States for what he describes as a rise of “totalitarianism” in Canada. Peterson referred to rising taxes and a new bill introduced into the Canadian parliament, Bill C-63.  The Canadian Civil Liberties Association has pointed out that the new bill includes the potential of “life imprisonment for any crime or federal offense, if found to be motivated by hate” … to include “spray-painting racist words on a wall.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, December 17th, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (02/28/2024): 3:05pm- On Wednesday, during a speech from the Senate floor, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced that he would be stepping down from his leadership position at the end of the term in November. Though, he does not plan to resign from the Senate. McConnell, now 82-years-old, has served in the U.S. Senate for nearly 40-years and has been the leader of the Senate Republican Conference since 2007. You can read more here: https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/4494536-mcconnell-to-step-down-as-senate-gop-leader/ 3:15pm- According to reports from both The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, during a White House meeting on Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) joined Democrat leadership—President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries—in pressing Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) to vote on a bill that would send tens-of-billions of dollars of foreign aid to Ukraine. The bill, which passed in the Senate, has stalled in the House of Representatives. 3:40pm- On Tuesday, Michigan held its Republican and Democrat primaries. Donald Trump defeated Nikki Haley 68% to 27%. Meanwhile President Joe Biden won 81% of the vote—though, “uncommitted” received a shocking 101,000 votes, or 13% of the Democrat electorate. According to estimates, “uncommitted” earned enough support to be awarded 2 delegates. Perhaps most alarming for Democrats, “uncommitted”—which beat Biden in Dearborn and Hamtramck, both of which have large Arab American populations—also performed well in East Lansing and Ann Arbor, two college towns. Is Biden struggling to appeal to young voters? And what could that mean for Biden in a general election? 4:05pm- On Wednesday, President Joe Biden had his annual physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center—though, he received no cognitive test. During her White House press briefing, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre insisted that Biden “passes a cognitive test everyday” as president. You can read more here: https://www.wsj.com/politics/president-biden-gets-annual-physical-amid-concerns-about-age-76a608c9?mod=hp_lead_pos3 4:15pm- While appearing on CNN with Erin Burnett, former Obama Administration Advisor Van Jones reacted to the idea that Robert Kennedy Jr. might be able to win traditionally Democrat voters in swing states who may be unhappy with President Joe Biden's policies. Jones noted that Kennedy is “on track to be in enough states to cost Joe Biden the presidency.” 4:30pm- David Kappos—Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office under Barack Obama (2009-2013)—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss a Biden Administration proposal that would reinterpret the Bayh-Dole Act which deals with the development of intellectual property arising from research funded by the federal government—with ownership of the invention/patent being granted to the entity responsible for actually conducting the research. Rather than alter the bill through the legislative process, President Joe Biden may act unilaterally via executive order. And under Biden's proposed alteration to the Bayh-Dole Act's framework, he would weaken patent ownership—hobbling technological, medical, and scientific innovation done at universities, for example, in the process. A letter to Biden, signed by Kappos and other former government officials, states: “We believe the adoption of the Draft Framework would destabilize our nation's entire technology transfer system which is central to U.S. innovation, and we thus implore you to withdraw the framework in its entirety.” 4:50pm- After a seven-hour deposition, Hunter Biden and his attorney Abbe Lowell emerged from an office building on Capitol Hill. Lowell briefly spoke with members of the press and claimed that Republican members of Congress were unable to produce any evidence that Hunter Biden, or the Biden family, ever engaged in corrupt business practices. 5:00pm- Regina Egea—President of the Garden State Initiative (GSI) & served as Chief of Staff to former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss Governor Phil Murphy's proposal that New Jersey adopt a corporate tax rate of 11.5%, which would be the highest in the entire country. How would this new proposed exorbitant tax impact job creation throughout the state? 5:20pm- Jess Bravin of The Wall Street Journal writes: “The Supreme Court agreed to consider whether Donald Trump must stand trial on charges he plotted to overturn the 2020 election, after lower courts rejected his claim that he is entitled to absolute immunity because he was president at the time. The court's move means it will have final say on an issue the judiciary never confronted before Trump. But it also means the former president has bought himself at least another couple of months before any trial, which had been scheduled to start in early March before the immunity battle scuttled those plans.” You find more on this developing story here: https://www.wsj.com/us-news/law/supreme-court-to-say-if-donald-trump-must-stand-trial-in-2020-election-conspiracy-case-1b7f4e3f 5:40pm- Phil Kerpen—President of American Commitment—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's announcement that he will be stepping down at the end of the term in November. Decisions by two courts blessing a search warrant into Trump's Twitter account “have flipped the presumption” that presidential communications should be privileged, Judge Neomi Rao of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit wrote Tuesday.” Ryan Binkley shocks the world in Iowa caucus! Wait. Who? No one has ever heard of him, but Binkley somehow won more votes than former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie combined. In an editorial featured in The Wall Street Journal, Tal Fortgang writes: “The anti-Israel demonstrators who have blocked traffic in major cities across the country know that their victims are decent people. There is little risk that the drivers who can't get to their jobs, families and other obligations will run them over because those drivers are careful to avoid harming others and breaking the law—even as they face down people who flagrantly do both… Those who reacted to Hamas's Oct. 7 attack by doubling down on calls for Israel's elimination emulate Hamas by inflicting suffering on innocent people to achieve their political ends, albeit at a much smaller scale. Seeing their own cause as absolutely righteous, they are blind to the cruelty of their own actions and prey upon those too decent to respond with deterrent force. They think they are engaging in civil disobedience, the tactic that exposed the injustice of racial segregation. But they aren't trying to draw attention to the wrongness of the laws they are breaking; they are trying to draw attention to an unrelated political issue. These demonstrators would more accurately be called civil terrorists.” You can read the full editorial here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/blocking-the-road-is-a-hamas-like-strategem-anti-israel-protesters-099787f0?mod=opinion_lead_pos7 Did a half-naked man randomly just walk through Dick Morris' living room during a Newsmax appearance?

Ramaswamy finished fourth with roughly 8% of the vote and is now endorsing Republican frontrunner Donald Trump. 3:40pm- After learning he finished a distant second to Donald Trump in Monday's Iowa caucus, Ron DeSantis told a crowd of supporters that “we've got our ticket punched out of Iowa”—calling the result a success as rivals “spent almost $50 million attacking” him and his campaign. 4:05pm- During his Iowa caucus victory speech, Donald Trump joked: “I want to congratulate Ron [DeSantis] and Nikki [Haley] for having a good time” in Iowa. However, MSNBC did not air his speech—host Rachel Maddow explained that the decision was “not out of spite” but because the television station didn't want to broadcast “untrue things.” In the same broadcast, Joy Reid accused white Christians in Iowa of supporting Trump because they believe everyone aside from “white, conservative Christians” are “fraudulent” Americans. She also accused Ron DeSantis of destroying Florida's K-12 education system—however, a quick fact check indicates it's actually ranked #1 in country. 4:20pm- Despite finishing behind former President Donald and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the Iowa caucus, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley claimed that the Republican presidential nomination is now a “two-person race” between herself and Trump. According to Real Clear Politics polling averages, Trump leads Haley 44% to 29% in New Hampshire and 52% to 22% in her home state of South Carolina. 4:30pm- On a recent episode of The Journal podcast, New Hampshire voters revealed that they are changing their party affiliation from Democrat to Republican prior to the state's January 23rd primary. Because they can't vote for their preferred candidate—Joe Biden—as he won't appear on the ballot following a Democrat National Committee feud with the state over scheduling dates, many Democrat voters are now registering as Republicans in order to vote against Donald Trump, supporting rival candidates like Nikki Haley. Democrats have seemingly destroyed their own New Hampshire primary, are they impacting the Republican primary as well? 4:40pm- The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board writes: “The Supreme Court has been trying to restore the proper constitutional balance of power, and its next opportunity comes Wednesday when it hears two cases challenging its own landmark Chevron doctrine (Loper Bright Enterprises, Inc., v. Raimondo and Relentless, Inc. v. Dept. of Commerce). In 1984 in Chevron v. NRDC, the Justices ruled that courts should defer to administrative agencies' interpretation of laws when the statutory text is silent or ambiguous. In practice this has become a license for Congress to write vague laws that delegate legislative power to administrative agencies. Over the last 40 years the federal register of regulations has grown by tens of thousands of pages. Wednesday's cases are textbook examples of how regulators invoke Chevron to expand their power and impose enormous burdens on Americans. Family-owned herring fisheries and vessel operators are challenging an obscure Commerce rule that requires New England fisheries to pay for on-board monitors.” You can read the full editorial here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-case-for-the-supreme-court-to-overturn-chevron-deference-e7f762b4?mod=opinion_lead_pos2 5:05pm- On Monday night, former president Donald Trump won the Iowa caucus with 51% of his party's vote—with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis earning 21%, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley at 19%, and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy finishing fourth with 8%. Media outlets called Trump the winner roughly 30-minutes after the caucus began and before some votes were cast. Despite finishing behind former President Donald and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the Iowa caucus, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley claimed that the Republican presidential nomination is now a “two-person race” between herself and Trump. According to Real Clear Politics polling averages, Trump leads Haley 44% to 29% in New Hampshire and 52% to 22% in her home state of South Carolina. With Trump seemingly well on his way towards winning the Republican nomination, despite Haley's claims to the contrary, who might the former president select to be his Vice President? 5:10pm- On Monday Night Football, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Philadelphia Eagles 32 to 9. The Eagles finished their season losing six of their final seven games. Will head coach Nick Sirianni be fired? According to reports, Eagles All-Pro Center—and future Hall of Famer—Jason Kelce is expected to retire. 5:30pm- In The New York Times podcast Matter of Opinion, hosts Michelle Cottle, Ross Douthat, and Carlos Lozada discussed the possibility that if Donald Trump wins the 2024 presidential election, he might run again in 2028—wrongfully claiming he was constitutionally permitted to serve again because his presidential terms weren't consecutive. 5:40pm- While speaking with CNBC, Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that Ukraine needs an additional $50 billion in aid. He also emphasized that “this is not a forever war.” 5:50pm- Vivian Salama of The Wall Street Journal reports: “The Biden administration plans to put the Houthi rebel group back on its list of foreign terrorist organizations, days after the U.S. launched strikes on its facilities in Yemen in retaliation for months of attacks against commercial vessels in the Red Sea.” You can read more here: https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/u-s-to-put-houthis-back-on-terrorist-list-596a974a# 5:55pm- Following the release of Monday's Iowa caucus results, Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy announced he was suspending his campaign. Ramaswamy finished fourth with roughly 8% of the vote and is now endorsing Republican frontrunner Donald Trump. 6:05pm- Suzanne Monyak of Bloomberg Law writes: “Conservative appellate judges, including three appointed by Donald Trump, decried what they view as an unprecedented search of the former president's social media records as part of the special counsel's election interference investigation. Decisions by two courts blessing a search warrant into Trump's Twitter account “have flipped the presumption” that presidential communications should be privileged, Judge Neomi Rao of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit wrote Tuesday.” 6:10pm-Ryan Binkley shocks the world in Iowa caucus! Wait. Who? No one has ever heard of him, but Binkley somehow won more votes than former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie combined. 6:20pm- In an editorial featured in The Wall Street Journal, Tal Fortgang writes: “The anti-Israel demonstrators who have blocked traffic in major cities across the country know that their victims are decent people. These demonstrators would more accurately be called civil terrorists.” You can read the full editorial here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/blocking-the-road-is-a-hamas-like-strategem-anti-israel-protesters-099787f0?mod=opinion_lead_pos7 6:40pm- Did a half-naked man randomly just walk through Dick Morris' living room during a Newsmax appearance?

The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1: On Wednesday night during a campaign appearance in Windham, NH, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie announced he is suspending his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination. A recently released University of New Hampshire/CNN poll indicates Haley is trailing former President Donald Trump by only seven-points in the New Hampshire Republican presidential primary—39% to 32%. Interestingly, Christie is garnering 12% support. Could Christie's absence put Haley over the top in NH? Just prior to announcing the suspension of his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination, Chris Christie was caught on a hot microphone saying that Nikki Haley is going to be “smoked” in the upcoming Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary. Does this make endorsing Haley, as many presumed he would, impossible now? On Thursday, Donald Trump's team delivered its closing arguments in a civil fraud trial in which New York Attorney General Letitia James alleges that the former president inflated the value of assets controlled by the Trump Organization in past financial statements. If Trump loses the case, he could face up to $370 million in fines and penalties as well as being permanently prohibited from doing business in the state of New York. Notably, in 2018, while campaigning to become Attorney General, James vowed to “sue” Trump—providing evidence to the defense's argument that this civil suit is entirely political.   Jonah E. Bromwich, Ben Protess, and Kate Christobek of The New York Times write: “Donald J. Trump on Thursday delivered abrupt remarks in his own defense on the final day of his civil fraud trial in Manhattan, attacking the New York attorney general, who brought the case, insulting the judge to his face and declaring himself ‘an innocent man.'Mr. Trump's remarks…lasted only minutes, during which he impugned the attorney general, Letitia James, a Democrat, saying she ‘hates Trump and uses Trump to get elected.' He also took aim at the judge, Arthur F. Engoron, remarking, ‘You have your own agenda, I certainly understand that.' He added, as the judge stared stonily at him, ‘You can't listen for more than one minute.' Justice Engoron instructed the former president's lawyer to ‘control your client.' But Mr. Trump continued until the lunch break, at which point he stopped as suddenly as he had started. The episode ushered in a dramatic conclusion to a monthslong trial that has enraged the former president and threatens his family business.” You can read more here: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/01/11/nyregion/trump-fraud-trial

Professor Yoo explains that if Trump's immunity defense is found invalid, we'll have “presidents always worried about what their successors will do to them…which is what we see in banana republics” and could potentially impact the decision-making process of the nation's Commander in Chief. He points out the prosecution of Trump is particularly disturbing given the fact that the Biden Administration's Department of Justice is targeting a major party candidate actively challenging President Joe Biden in an election. 4:50pm- On Thursday, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) announced that tomorrow he is planning to formally endorse a Republican primary candidate for president. She continues: “More than $1 billion worth of shoulder-fired missiles, kamikaze drones and night-vision goggles that the United States has sent to Ukraine have not been properly tracked by American officials…concerns that they could be stolen or smuggled at a time when Congress is debating whether to send more military aid to Kyiv.” You can read Jakes' full report here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/11/world/europe/us-military-aid-ukraine.html 5:15pm- During Thursday's White House press briefing, Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs John Kirby was asked to answer for the Pentagon's report that an estimated $1 billion worth of weapons sent to Ukraine could not be accounted for—Kirby said he the Biden Administration would attempt to improve accountability. 5:30pm- Rich has his new, fancy pizza oven installed at his home. Matt wonders if Rich has ever cooked Ellio's frozen pizza in it… 5:45pm- On Wednesday night, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump participated in a town hall event on Fox News. At one point, hosts Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier asked Trump for his reaction to political rival Chris Christie dropping out of the race. Trump said the bigger story was Christie's “hot mic” moment where he insisted Nikki Haley would be “smoked” in the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary. 5:50pm- Following Chris Christie's decision to drop out of the Republican presidential primary, MSNBC's Symone Sanders said she “wouldn't be surprised” to see Christie at the DNC convention later this year. 6:05pm- On Wednesday night, Republican presidential candidates Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley participated in a debate on CNN hosted by Jake Tapper and Dana Bash. Simultaneously, former President—and Republican primary front runner—Donald Trump held a town hall hosted by Fox News. 6:10pm- Despite placing the bulk of his resources in Iowa, Governor Ron DeSantis trails former President Donald Trump by a whopping 36.4%, according to Real Clear Politics polling averages. Assuming he is unable to close that massive gap by Monday, January 15th—the day of the Iowa caucus—he'll likely drop out of the race. So, what would be next for DeSantis? Perhaps an endorsement of Trump and a 2028 presidential run?   6:20pm- On Thursday, Donald Trump's team delivered its closing arguments in a civil fraud trial in which New York Attorney General Letitia James alleges that the former president inflated the value of assets controlled by the Trump Organization in past financial statements. It's Friday, January 12th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Nigerian Muslim kidnappers keep pastors hostage despite getting ransom Two Nigerian pastors kidnapped along with others last month remain captive despite their denomination paying the ransom for their release, reports Morning Star News. Rev. Elkanah Ayuba and Rev. Simon Ezra, both of the United Methodist Church, were among at least 20 people kidnapped on December 19th from Yorro County in Taraba State.   On January 4th, Rev. Micah Dopa, president of the Southern Conference of the United Methodist Church, said, “As a Body of Christ, we mobilized and paid $12,264 for our members to be released, but the terrorists decided to release only the Muslim victims in their custody. It is clear that the terrorists' activities are a plot to erase Christians in the area.” Chris Christie dropped out Just days before the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie dropped out of the Republican presidential race on Wednesday at a townhall meeting, reports LifeNews. CHRISTIE: “My goal has never been to be just a voice against the hate and the division and the selfishness of what our party has become under Donald Trump. It's also been to win the nomination and defeat Joe Biden and restore our party and our country to a new place of hope and optimism in this country. “I've always said that there came a point in time in this race where I couldn't see a path to accomplishing that goal that I would get out. And it's clear to me tonight that there isn't a path for me to win the nomination which is why I'm suspending my campaign tonight for President United States.” 10 pro-life rescuers go to trial next week On Friday, March 5, 2021 at 8:30am, some faithful pro-life Christians sought to rescue pre-born babies from certain death at an abortion mill, innocuously named Carafem Health Center, in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. As they peacefully blocked the door to the baby-killing center, they prayed that God would convict the mothers who had scheduled the executions of the babies in their wombs to choose life instead. Because the pro-life rescuers refused to leave, the police arrested them, reported NewsChannel5 in Nashville. To its shame, Biden's Department of Justice indicted these 10 rescuers on October 5, 2022 on charges of violating the misguided Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act and a conspiracy to violate the so-called constitutional right to abortion in the pre-Dobbs era.  The trial, which could lead to astronomical fines and up to 11 years in federal prison, begins next Tuesday, January 16th. Coleman Boyd, one of the indicted pro-life rescuers, videotaped part of that March 5th, 2021 rescue. Listen. BOYD:  “I will follow You, Lord and obey you. You show me what you want me to do, and I'll follow You and obey. What I can tell you it doesn't mean is comfortable American Christian living while babies are being murdered, while souls are slipping into hell. That I know it doesn't mean. So, whatever He's calling you to, you've got to seek the Lord. You've got to cry out to God and you've got to have a heart that I'm going to obey. ‘Be imitators of God as dear children and walk in love, just as Christ also loved us.'” (Ephesians 5:1) Later, when Boyd saw a couple outside the Tennessee abortion mill coming towards him, he said this. BOYD: “Good morning, guys. Can I give you some literature? It's the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You know that Christ Jesus came to give life. He came to lay down His life for us. “I'm not sure why you're here at this building today, but if you're here for this abortion clinic, I plead with you today: Turn away from abortion, turn away from death, and turn to Jesus Christ. You know that Jesus laid down His life so that you can have life. Please talk with us.” As The Federalist recently declared, “If peacefully protesting abortion is criminal, but firebombing pregnancy centers is not, there is no rule of law.” Indeed, Peter Breen, an attorney with the Thomas More Society, who is representing Paul Vaughn, one of the ten pro-life rescuers, appeared on Fox News Channel with Tucker Carlson and cited the rich American tradition of civil disobedience dating back to Martin Luther King, Jr. BREEN: “Those who were arrested were leaning on the tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King. He himself was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi. I mean, this is the great tradition of American civil disobedience. And it's not the sort of thing that you turn into a 10-year felony. We believe we have very strong defenses and hope to beat these charges at trial.” Please consider attending a prayer rally on Tuesday January 16th at 7:30a.m. right before their trial begins. The rally will be located at the Federal Court House, 801 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37203. In a promotional email for the prayer rally, André De Toit, wrote, “We are living in a time where injustice rules, immorality is being celebrated openly, and truth is being perverted. Meanwhile, the Christian Church has grown cold and apathetic towards what God has called her to be.” Anti-Israel protestors derail San Antonio, Texas City Council meeting Yesterday, a group of about 20 anti-Israel protesters temporarily derailed the San Antonio, Texas City Council meeting just minutes into its first meeting of 2024 as they demanded a cease-fire, reports the San Antonio Express-News. Listen. ANTI-ISRAEL GROUP: “Ceasefire now. Ceasefire now. Ceasefire now. Ceasefire now. Free, free Palestine. Free, free Palestine.” Then, their chanting became personal as they accused San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, who is Jewish, of genocide. ANTI-ISRAEL GROUP: “Ron, Ron. You can't hide. We charge you with genocide." LEADER: “Ron, Ron. You can't hide.” ANTI-ISRAEL GROUP: “We charge you with genocide. Hey, hey. Ho, ho. The occupation has got to go. Hey, hey. Ho, ho. The occupation has got to go.” One of the anti-Israel protestors revealed to KENS-5 TV their motivation behind shutting down the City Council meeting. MAZATL CIHUATL: “The main message to the city today is that we are going to make your life highly disruptive, highly inconvenient, until you acquiesce to our demands to sever your relationships with Israel and to immediately call for a permanent ceasefire.” After the meeting, Mayor Nirenberg told reporters, “We all want an end to the violence in the Middle East. We all want a just and lasting peace. The City Council is in no position to advance that.” This week, San Francisco made headlines when it became the largest city in the United States to call for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, following Seattle, Detroit, and Atlanta.  Denver and Minneapolis are considering similar calls. 53% of U.S. pastors want to quit And finally, as American pastors have grown increasingly discontent with their profession, 53% have seriously considered leaving pastoral ministry since 2020, according to a new study from the Hartford Institute for Religion Research. In 2021, only 37% of pastors thought about leaving the ministry.  Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Friday, January 12th in the year of our Lord 2024. It's Tuesday, November 7th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus.  (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson 2023 Persecutors of the Year report just released International Christian Concern has published their 2023 Persecutors of the Year report. The worst nations are Nigeria, North Korea, India, Iran, China, Pakistan, Eritrea, Algeria, Indonesia, and Azerbaijan.  Jeff King, the ICC president, noted that he is especially concerned about India. He said that, “Mass violence in Chhattisgarh and Manipur in late 2022 and 2023 supply chilling examples of what the future could hold for India's Christian population if radical Hindu nationalism is not checked.” Mr. King further noted that, “there are an estimated 200 to 300 million Christians who suffer persecution worldwide. I've served this targeted group for more than two decades and still wonder why there is no widespread outcry or outrage on their behalf." Nepal's earthquakes killed 200 people Nepal was hit by two earthquakes, both registering 5.6 on the Richter scale, reports the Associated Press. About 4,000 homes were damaged, and over 200 people were killed, according to our contacts in Nepal. The earthquakes centered around Jajarkot, about 250 miles Northeast of Kathmandu.  Israel-Hamas War has led to death toll of 11,400 people The death toll in the Israel-Hamas War initiated by Hamas, the Muslim terrorist group, on October 7th has reached 11,400—of which 10,000 have been Palestinians. That's about five times the number killed in the 2014 conflict. And it's about the same number of people killed in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War as well as the same number who died in the The Yom Kippur War of 1973. The Yom Kippur War involved the Arab states of Egypt, Syria, Morocco, and Iraq against Israel. The two-week conflict ended with Israel returning the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt.  Trump skips third GOP presidential debate Wednesday, Nov. 8 The next debate in the contest for the 2024 Presidential Republican nomination is scheduled for tomorrow night in Miami, Florida, reports ABC News. The candidates scheduled to appear include New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott. Former President Donald Trump is skipping out on this third debate.  Trump still holds a commanding lead in most polls. Rasmussen has him ahead of DeSantis by 38 points, and ahead of Haley by 41 points. The Harris/X poll has the former president ahead of DeSantis by 50 points.  Iowa Governor endorsed Ron DeSantis for President This just in, as of yesterday. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for the Republican presidential nomination, reports the Des Moines Register. It's a key boost for the DeSantis campaign as the Iowa primaries approach this January. Reynolds, who had been a Trump ally when he held the White House, said she appreciates the former president's accomplishments, but believes it's time to move on. She said, “I don't think he can win.” DeSantis has also recently suggested Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds as a possible vice presidential pick.   Ohio Governor Mike DeWine: Vote “No!” on pro-abortion Issue 1 Concerning the Ohio initiative, Issue 1, which would enable a constitutional amendment to institutionalize the “right to abortion” in the state—Ohio Republican Governor Mike DeWine and his wife, Fran, have taken to social media to oppose the measure in this upcoming election today.   MIKE:  “Everywhere we go, voters tell us they're confused about issue one. So, Fran and I have carefully studied it.” FRAN: “Issue 1 would allow an abortion at any time during a pregnancy and it would deny parents the right to be involved when their daughter is making the most important decision of her life.” MIKE: “I know Ohioans are divided on the issue of abortion, but whether you're pro-life or pro-choice, Issue 1 is just not right for Ohio.” FRAN: “Issue 1 just goes too far.” Michael W. Smith: Ohioans should vote “No!” on pro-abortion Issue 1 And Contemporary Christian Music artist Michael W. Smith tweeted on X, urging a “No!” vote on the referendum. SMITH: "If this passes, it would not be good. It would change what is now the Heartbeat rule [protecting unborn babies after 6 weeks] and allow up to full-term abortion as the new rule of law. This is serious, everybody, and we all know this is a spiritual battle. But I know by prayer and by casting your vote, you can do your part in the battle for your state and for your people." This critical referendum vote in Ohio takes place today. Ohioans will also vote on the legalization of the recreational use of marijuana, reports The Columbus Dispatch.  The prophet Jeremiah speaks to Ohio and Americans today in Jeremiah 18:11-12. “Thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now, every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.' And they said, ‘That is hopeless! So, we will walk according to our own plans, and we will, every one, obey the dictates of his evil heart.'” Conservative talk host released part of Nashville shooter's manifesto A media source released the manifesto of the Nashville murderer who killed six people at Covenant Presbyterian School on March 27th of this year. Louder with Crowder has released some of the Manifesto. Stephen Crowder identifies a woke-form of racial hatred as the motive for the crime.    The murderer, Audrey Hale, a woman pretending to be a man, was especially incensed by what she called “white privilege” and “white people in general” in her ramblings. Crowder blames public schools for encouraging students “to believe white people are inherently evil.” But Jesus said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, and murders.” (Mark 7:20) Job sectors where jobs are down and up And finally, want to know the sectors where employment has slipped in the United States? According to The Wolf Street report, the information technology sector lost 130,000 jobs this year. Manufacturing has lost 30,000 jobs. By contrast, the arts, entertainment, and recreation sector has gained 150,000 jobs. Jobs in the federal government increased by 80,000. And state governments and public schools added 200,000 jobs.  Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Election Day, Tuesday, November 7th in the year of our Lord 2023. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. In 2016, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was one of 17 Republicans in a crowded field trying to beat Donald Trump. We know how that movie ended. One of the hard won lessons of that primary, especially among Republicans, was that it was foolish not to unite right away behind the strongest candidate. If they had done that, perhaps Trump wouldn't have been the nominee and then the president. Yet here we are in 2023 and we seem to be watching the same movie play out in real time, with 13 Republican candidates trying, once again, to outperform Trump in a crowded field. One of those people, once again, is Chris Christie. But this time, he insists, he can write a new ending. Christie not only believes that he could win the nomination, but he believes he can win it by going toe to toe with Trump. Christie's brand is the brash, straight-talking Jersey guy, and he's more than living up to his reputation. He's been absolutely brutal in his attacks on the former president, calling Trump a “lonely, self-consumed, self-serving mirror hog,” a “petulant child,” a “bitter, angry man,” and “the cheapest S.O.B I've ever met.” This, as one would expect, has made him a liberal darling of sorts. At the same time, a lot of people think, too little, too late. For a long time, Christie was very much a Trump cheerleader. After Christie dropped out of the 2016 race, he was the first establishment Republican—and the first of any of the Republican governors or senators—to endorse Donald Trump, which a lot of people say helped launch Trump to the nomination. During Trump's presidency, Christie said things about Trump like, “he's not only a strong leader, but a caring, genuine and decent person” and “when he makes a promise, he keeps it.” On today's show, I ask Governor Christie to explain himself. I ask him why he supported Trump in 2016 and again in 2020 and what finally led him to break ranks. I also ask him about whether this kind of rejection of Trump can resonate with a Republican base who doesn't seem to have moved on from Trump or Trumpism. And last, I ask him why he wants to be president of the United States in the first place.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
