In which The Curmudgeons mix bewilderment with disdain in discussing the stench-filled star run of The Killers, the Vegas band by way of Utah who have aped a band or two -- or 50 -- you may know and love for nearly 20 years. We hold our noses and analyze a seven-album catalog that finds so-earnest-it-hurts bandleader Brandon Flowers travel a road from revering Duran Duran to capturing the spirit (he thinks anyway) of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska. We're here to shield you from the pain, man. Credit is due to Steven Hyden of Uproxx, whose August 12, 2021, interview with Brandon Flowers is referred to heavily for our amusement here. During this Christmas week, we've been looking at the prophecy in Isaiah 9:6, and this song pulls directly from it. The Killers é talvez a banda indie mais conhecida do mundo e uma das mais influentes dos anos 2000. Tem clássicos como Mr. Brightside, Somebody Told Me, When You Were Young, Bones e Human. Infelizmente o disco de 2017, Wonderful Wonderful, não trouxe as melhores composições da banda, que agora volta com um álbum mais interessante e com letras extremamente íntimas. This what it sounds like when you use a podcast to hang out with your friend who's been away for three weeks. We talk about everything except this album, including some hot takes on the Civil War (to be clear, I do know that Nevada fought for the Union), same sex marriage, and Incubus. Comedian Sam Bowden tries valiantly to educate host Ryan Sim about the history of the greatest third-tier American rock band, The Killers, but we mostly just get weird about anything and everything else. Highest Fallout Boy ratio of any episode so far.
The Killers put out a new album last Friday called "Wonderful Wonderful." It's not very good. In my review for Uproxx.com, I tried to make sense of the band's career, ultimately suggesting that the Killers sound like a band on its last legs. Is that a fair assessment, or was I off the mark? I decided to call up friend of the pod and long-time Killers fan Larry Fitzmaurice, an editor at "Vice," to help me go over the band's career. Did the Killers truly peak early with "Mr. Brightside," or is there more to this band's legacy? We also attempted to answer the eternal question: Are the Killers good, terrible, or good because they're terrible? Support from: SeatGeek, ZipRecruiter, Blue Apron

Tim Andrews does every voice to bring you the classic Christmas film in under ten minutes.
It's the Who's He? Podcast Christmas Special! And as the lads have run out of TV Christmas Specials to review (at least until The Feast Of Steven is recovered), they turn to Big Finish for help with a listen to Flip Flop featuring the 7th Doctor and Mel in a Christmas set story. It's the lads first Mel Bush audio story, so how will they find Mel now in this rather unique take on a time travel story, toned down or just as shrill as before? And just how festive is this story, does it reach the heights of an Andy Williams Christmas spectacular or as festive as a Seaside Special hosted by Peter Powell (ask your parents)? And in the news this week, Class confirmed for a late night slot, Toby Whithouse confirmed for writing duties on series 10 and in Omega's Tat Corner it's time piece tat! And finally, it just leaves us to say a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our listeners. Thanks for sticking with us!
Hi everyone, Alex with the Show Notes for Travel First Episode 13...or for the superstitious traveler, 12B. In this episode, we take you to wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen (as the song by Danny Kaye goes) in Denmark. Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital, sits on the coastal islands of Zealand and Amager, linked to Malmo in southern Sweden by the Öresund Bridge. Indre By, the central district, contains 18th-century, rococo Frederiksstaden, home to the royal family’s Amalienborg Palace. The city's center also has the Christiansborg parliament building and the Renaissance Rosenborg Castle, which has a museum of royal artifacts and a popular garden. (google) A beautiful city that we recommend every one visits at least once. Cigar of the Week - Camacho Diploma Corojo 11/18 – The Ultra Premium lines from Camacho are competing well with other big name cigars, and this 11/18 size in the Diploma Corojo line has got it all going on! Deep, rich, full flavors from authentic Corojo tobacco grown on Camacho farms in Honduras, a unique shape that really highlights those flavors and an elegant packaging presentation all position this cigar for success. The all corojo tobaccos are Quinto Corte, or from the fifth priming, meaning they are the top most leaves on the plants and picked last so they receive the most exposure to the elements for maximum flavor. The figuardo shape goes from 48 to 54 and back to 48 ring gauge in a 6” length, but not quite what we think of as the traditonal perfecto style - more of a subtle graduation of the cigar's curves. They come in varnished pyramid shaped boxes of 21 cigars. Paul Bush of Flatbed Cigar Company joins us for discussion of his cigars and the cigar business. Whats My Band - Dale smokes Bob's #111 Alec Bradley Occidental Reserve Natural Jeff Fisher wins a Palio Cutter. Matt Carbaugh wins a one year subscription to European Cigar Cult Journal. On the Dark Side - Marca - Romeo y Julieta, Frontmark - Churchills, Vitola - Julieta No. 2, Box code MAS April 08, 178 mm (7.2") x 47 ring gauge - This size is the same as last week's Bolivar Coronas Gigantes, however, RyJ is credited with developing this size and that's why the factory name for this vitola is Julieta No. 2. The reason for all the confusion today, is that they developed this size in honor of the famed British statesman Sir Winston Churchill - you'll note the "s" at the end of the word in the frontmark. Romeo y Julieta is an old brand, dating from 1875. Widely known as a full flavored marca, RyJ still makes a large number of vitolas and has various packaging presentations. It is one of the most widely recognized and appreciated marcas within the Habanos S.A. line of brands. Listener email supports Bob's opinion of Spanish Cedar.
