Happy Friday, Happy Kick Point Day. With the leaderboard at the PGA Championship looking more like a Sunday at the 3M Open than one of professional golf's premier weekends, hopefully, we can act as an area of respite from the less-than-exciting leaderboard in Charlotte. First up this week, Joe's got something he needs to get off his chest- why is there such little consensus in golf equipment? Where one fitter might tell you swing weight is the most important aspect of a club fitting, another might tell you it's swing weight. Why is there no standardisation in measuring shaft torque? Or in shaft flex? Why, after all these years, is the so much disagreement in the equipment industry? We try our hardest to figure out why and offer a solution.... The Cool Board see rope caps, 7-woods and animal headcovers in the limelight - where will these three pieces of golf paraphernalia find their way onto the board? Finally, we're off to the kitchen to investigate the tools of Chef Min Woo Lee. A Callaway ambassador, Min Woo has some of the most tour-exclusive equipment Callaway has to offer, as well as potentially the grippiest grips that have ever gripped! Send us a Text Message. Is the traditional way we categorize hearing loss outdated? Join us in this eye-opening episode of the Hearing Matters podcast, where we welcome Dr. Christina Roup and Dr. Douglas Beck to challenge the status quo. We'll explore why the conventional categories from normal to profound hearing loss might be arbitrary, proposing 15 dBHL as a more accurate upper limit for normal hearing. You'll gain insights into the real struggles faced by those labeled with "mild" hearing loss, particularly in noisy environments, and discover why measuring speech recognition in noise could be a game-changer for assessing hearing capabilities.Understanding a patient's hearing struggles goes beyond mere numbers on a chart. In this episode, we emphasize the importance of including a primary communication partner during audiological evaluations to capture a fuller picture of the patient's daily challenges. We also critique current hearing screening standards, advocating for a lower threshold and considering ambient noise factors. Learn why comprehensive audiometric evaluations are vital for all age groups and why traditional screenings often fall short, leading to low follow-up rates and misinterpretations.Discover the hidden depths of auditory processing with our discussion on extended high-frequency hearing tests, especially crucial for individuals exposed to loud noises like veterans and firefighters. These tests can uncover issues such as speech-in-noise difficulties and tinnitus that standard tests might miss. We delve into treatment strategies for extended high-frequency hearing loss, including the use of FM systems and low gain amplification. Finally, we explore the complexities of fitting hearing aids for those with normal to near-normal hearing thresholds, stressing the need for personalized fittings and the broader implications for maintaining high standards in hearing aid customization. Tune in and rethink what you know about hearing loss and auditory health. While we know all hearing aids amplify sounds to help you hear them, Starkey Genesis AI uses cutting-edge technology designed to help you understand them, too.Using innovative Neuro Sound Technology, Genesis AI mimics how a healthy auditory system hears. The Audible Contrast Threshold (ACT™) test is the quickest method to accurately measure a person's ability to hear in noisy environments. Developed by the Interacoustics Research Unit, ACT™ uses a non-linguistic, contrasting stimulus to provide a personalized testing experience. The results offer objective data that directly guides hearing aid fitting by predicting aided speech-in-noise performance. In this session, originally part of the 2024 Future of Hearing Healthcare conference, Dr. Ashley Hughes will explain the research behind the ACT™ test, demonstrate how to perform it, and interpret the results. Additionally, she will discuss how these results can inform hearing aid recommendations and setting adjustments. For the full experience, we highly recommend watching the video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/E3iGJ7JBTHw For those interested, a Q&A on the ACT™ test can be viewed here: https://hearinghealthmatters.org/hear-in-private-practice/2023/audible-contrast-threshold-test-audiology/ Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for the latest episodes each week, and follow This Week in Hearing on LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter): https://www.linkedin.com/company/this-week-in-hearing/ https://twitter.com/WeekinHearing

Fittings - costume fittings are a regular part of an actor's life... Every episode, and usually every scene, requires multiple options of wardrobe for the director, producers, and the actor themselves to choose from, so actors are regularly brought in to try on new costumes. Headshot - a printed photo showcasing an actor's appearance; usually printed on 8.5x11 letter photo paper and sent to casting agencies and casting directors to promote an actor for casting considerations. Basecamp PA - this Production Assistant oversees the day to day life at "basecamp" on a film set, which usually means they notify actors at their trailers when they are needed on set, or at the hair and makeup trailer before going to set... Basecamp PA's also track all times for actors and stunt performers, which are then reported back to the Production Office (and SAG) the next day.
