Welcome to Episode 169 of Autism Parenting Secrets. This week, we're joined by Dr. Luis Garcia, a leading contributor to the field of biomagnetism. Biomagnetism helps to stabilize the body's PH and stimulates the immune system.Dr. Garcia has deep expertise in several alternative approaches as well as traditional Western medicine. But for him, nothing has been more effective than biomagnetism for improving the health and vitality of his patients. His practice now specializes in biomagnetism, and he teaches others (including parents like you) to do the same. The secret this week is…BIOMAGNETISM IS That PowerfulYou'll Discover:How Biomagnetism Works (5:47)Why Muscle Testing Reveals So Much (12:40)Why Restoring Blood Flow Is So Vital (15:58)How Our Environment Is Failing Our Kids (18:23)The Exact Way Biomagnetism Gets To The Root Cause (28:24)Applications for Allergies (36:00)How Magnets Reduce Inflammation (42:31)How Parents Can Be Trained In Biomagnetism (46:50) About Our Guest:Luis Garcia received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Boston College in 1997, where his genetic research landed him in an international scientific publication (Development, 1997). He received his medical degree from Universidad de la Sabana in Bogota, Colombia, in 2005 and served as Medical Director and Chief Science Officer of Salud Futura Clinic in Bogotá, Colombia, until June 2010. Dr. Garcia is licensed to practice medicine and surgery in Colombia, South America, where he was recognized as one of the leading Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) medical experts in areas that include cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, chronic fatigue, autoimmune disease, cancer, and other concerns associated with aging.Dr. Garcia was always unsettled about how conventional medicine treated symptoms rather than underlying causes. In search of a more effective healing modality, he explored Complementary and Alternative Medicine, learning from top experts around the world. At Salud Futura Clinic, Dr. Garcia worked with neurofeedback, neural therapy, ozone therapy, homotoxicology, neuro-linguistic programming, chelation therapy, DMSO therapy, and nutritional therapies—all alongside traditional Western medicine. Whereas he found some success with these modalities, he always felt that there was a better way.Continuing his exploration of CAM, in 2008, Dr. Garcia attended a seminar on Biomagnetic Pair Therapy by founder Dr. Isaac Goiz Duran. Dr. Garcia was amazed that a few simple magnets could foster such profound health. Whereas the ramifications for wellness throughout the world were awe-inspiring, Dr. Garcia approached biomagnetism with a healthy skepticism. He incorporated biomagnetism into his medical practice while rigorously testing the results with conventional diagnostics. After two years, it was evident that he achieved more fundamental health results in his patients with biomagnetism than with conventional means. Dr. Garcia had found the better way. He closed his medical practice in Colombia and returned to the United States to establish a practice devoted to biomagnetism. From the onset, Dr. Garcia envisioned biomagnetism as an innovation that would revolutionize the effectiveness of and access to quality healthcare around the world. Through personal development, personal research, clinical research, and education, Dr. Garcia has become a leading contributor to the field of biomagnetism.DrGarciaBiomagnetism.comReferences in The Episode:For Biomagentsim TrainingDr. Garcia on YouTubeDr. Garcia on InstagramDr. Garcia on FacebookAdditional Resources:Take The Quiz: What's YOUR Top Autism Parenting Blindspot? To learn more about Cass & Len, visit us at www.autismparentingsecrets.comBe sure to follow Cass & Len on InstagramIf you enjoyed this episode, share it with your friends.
Herbal medicine is the most common form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) used by patients with cancer, with increasing use following a cancer diagnosis. Additionally, a staggering 73.6% of women in the menopausal period are thought to be using Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). Since emerging new research and some exciting new studies are happening in this field, I wanted to revisit this important conversation about the use of herbal medicine. Our guest is Melinda McDougall, the vice president of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists. The main worry amongst women with a history of cancer who are dealing with the menopause is around contraindications that come with taking herbal medication. And rightly so, these powerful plants are not to be underestimated. In today's episode, we will discover:What is the real role of a medical herbalist? Is black cohosh safe for women with breast cancer? The real facts about plant oestrogens and why you might have to re-think what you know. Will red clover become a player in helping reduce cancer recurrence? Is a cup of herbal tea enough to ease symptoms? How could herbal medication help you stay on your long-term cancer treatment? Can herbal medication help with body and joint aches, low mood, hot flushes, poor sleep, and anxiety? Do you even need them? Is a lack of anti-depressants really the cause of our suffering and are they causing their own suffering in withdrawal? One in two who try to come off them have significant withdrawal symptoms, half of which are classified as severe. I interview John Read who is Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of East London. He has published several research papers on anti-depressant medication. John is Chair of the International Institute for Psychiatric Drug Withdrawal. We will also meet Luke Montagu, who became dependent on antidepressants and sleeping pills, had a horrific withdrawal and successfully sued his doctor. He then set up the Council for Evidence-based Psychiatry to campaign for change and provide support to others. I'll also be speaking with psychiatrist Dr Hyla Cass MD, previously Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, UCLA School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles and author of several books: Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) , on how she helps people get off anti-depressants using an optimum nutrition approach. Her book Supplement Your Prescription was the first to show how prescribed psychiatric drugs deplete nutrients and how to correct this. For more information about the connection between nutrition and depression visit the Depression and Mood topic section on my website.
In this weeks episode, you'll get a review of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) and hear about 5 areas in the world known as Blue Zones. You'll also hear a story about a dear friend who knew the power of nutrition for healing. Food is medicine. This is nothing new, especially to dietitians. Hippocrates said in 400 BC: "Let medicine be thy food and let food be thy medicine". The story I share in this episode proves that statement to be true. This story is truly inspiring. Related Report: Failure to Follow a Consult Process Resulting in Undocumented Patient Care at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center in OhioThe VA OIG conducted a healthcare inspection for 10 allegations related to the quality and management of patient care and the availability of resources within the Urgent Care Center at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center in Ohio. One allegation involved an urgent care provider sending a patient with a T12 vertebrae compression fracture to have chiropractic care at the Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) clinic. The patient returned a week later with a T12 burst fracture and rib fractures. The OIG found that an urgent care provider verbally referred a patient for pain management and not for chiropractic care. However, the OIG found that the urgent care provider did not enter a CAM consult until eight days after seeing the patient. Due to this delay, the chiropractor and clinical massage therapist failed to review the consult prior to seeing the patient. Additionally, the chiropractor and massage therapist could not link documentation to the consult and had no other process to complete the documentation resulting in the failure to document care provided within the medical record. The patient returned to the Urgent Care Center eight days later where a computerized tomography scan showed an acute burst fracture and acute rib fractures. Because of the lack of documentation and provider recall, the OIG could not conclusively determine the relationship between the actions taken by the chiropractor and clinical massage therapist and the patient's bone fractures. The OIG found the nine additional allegations to be unsupported and lacked merit. The OIG made two recommendations to the Facility Director related to education of providers, chiropractors, and clinical massage therapists on the use of consults and timely documentation, and conducting an internal review of the CAM program processes related to patient care, reviewing consults, scheduling appointments, checking-in patients, and documentation.
Many people with MS have used non-traditional products or therapies either along with their prescribed medical regimen, considered complementary, or instead of traditional medicine, known as alternative. Called Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), these products and therapies can include herbs, nutritional supplements, acupuncture, massage, diet, mindfulness, yoga, tai chi, and visits to naturopaths, homeopaths, and chiropractors. Join Dr. Heidi Maloni to discuss CAM and MS, including recommendations and things to consider when choosing CAM.
Western approaches to knowledge have been called into question due to the legacies of European colonialism and white supremacy and Western conceptions of reality and the universe have been transformed by the advent or relativity and quantum physics. These challenges have influenced not only Western science in general, but Western medicine in particular. The revealed limits of Western medicine have resulted in indigenous and Eastern alternatives, once dismissed and marginalized, being given new consideration. Consequently there has been a significant growth in the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). But with the increase in these practices as options, has also come questions related to ethics. My guest for this episode is Dr. Janette Engelbrecht. She is here to explain to us more fully about the nature of Traditional Chines Medicine and Complementary and Alternative Medicine, why she has chosen to be a practitioner of this medicines, why these options are growing in popularity, and to discuss with us some of the ethical issues related to practice of TCM and CAM. Dr. Janette Engelbrecht, LA.c., Dipl.OM, is proud to offer Chinese Medicine services with an integrative approach. Her focus is on helping others to embody a healthy lifestyle in an effort to keep dis-ease and imbalance at bay. The treatments she offers range from a symptomatic style for things like pain or allergies, to a systemic/holistic style for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of internal diseases. Janette graduated from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in May 2019 with dual Masters and Doctorate degrees. The lineage of Chinese medicine she studies is from a profoundly spiritual perspective rooted in Daoism, and it is from this Body-Mind-Spirit Daoist philosophy that Dr. Engelbrecht's treatment plans are informed. Dr. Engelbrecht has a strong background in Western cancer care and specializes in oncology. She has proven effectiveness in helping patients to manage the side and after effects of conventional cancer care including, but not limited to: pain, neuropathy, nausea and vomiting, insomnia, restlessness, anxiety, depression, agitation, dry mouth, etc. In addition to oncology and pain, Janette focuses on digestion, nutrition, stress, sleep, women's health & fertility, palliative care, and hospice care. Dr. Engelbrecht is currently practicing with the East Asheville Acupuncture & Wellness Boutique. You can learn more about her at eastacupuncturewb.com. The intro and outro music for this episode is from a clip of a song called 'Father Let Your Kingdom Come' which is found on The Porter's Gate Worship Project Work Songs album and is used by permission by The Porter's Gate Worship Project.
After medical training at the University of Southern California and the Los Angeles County General Hospital, Dr. Kirschner entered medical practice in the San Fernando Valley as a family physician. In 1961 there were very few doctors with his public health experience. This soon led to volunteering in various health related programs, such as the Regional Medical Disaster Program, the Red Cross Disaster and Blood program, the Home Health Association, Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice, several committees on biomedical issues, adviser to the California Health Law Revision Committee, Single Payer Health Care for All, Physicians for a National Health Plan, California Physicians Alliance and other health-related activities. He has also written numerous articles, letters and Op Ed pieces and appeared on radio, television and lectured on health care issues at many venues. Recently retired from medical practice, he continues to volunteer for many health oriented community programs. This book is a collection of essays by Dr. Kirschner, regarding some of the many unresolved health care, pharmaceutical and insurance issues that his patients have shared with him during his forty-seven years of family medical practice. In this book, "All Medicines are Poison!," Melvin H. Kirschner, MPH, MD, sets out to remove the fog of confusion that clouds the landscape patients are required to navigate in their search for health care today. This book describes the risks and benefits associated with the use of medicines, and explores the validity of other treatment modalities referred to as "Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). He discusses the numerous failings and backroom dealings in the pharmaceutical and insurance industries, and highlights possible solutions to many of these current concerns. Dr. Kirschner has had an extensive career in the healthcare field. He has championed patient's rights throughout his career. As one of the key physicians instrumental in the enactment of the first biomedical ethical guidelines in the world, he has always strived for close doctor/patient relationships where the patient's concerns always come first. - http://www.allmedicinesarepoison.com/ To listen to all our XZBN shows, with our compliments go to: https://www.spreaker.com/user/xzoneradiotv *** AND NOW *** The ‘X' Zone TV Channel on SimulTV - www.simultv.com The ‘X' Chronicles Newspaper - www.xchroniclesnewpaper.com

Dr. Amy, Doug and Eric introduce OPT2LIV's newest coach Nancy Schalk Connor, who is a yoga pioneer in the state of Indiana. Her passion for yoga has given her experience with running a yoga studio, certifying yoga students, and conducting research for our National Institutes of Health's Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) government agency. Her in depth research to find effective yoga modalities for patients with trauma has positioned her as a local expert on the topic. Nancy shares that we have learned so much about the brain over the last few years to include terms like neuroplasticity and neurogenesis that show us that the brain has the capacity to heal when the appropriate modalities of care are applied. Nancy shares that the modalities of yoga that she realizes offer the most success with patients are the ones that yogis were using 4,000 to 5,000 years ago and that modern science has the ability to objectively show their positive effects today. The OPT2LIV solution begins with the Breathe pillar, because it is an important part of how people will begin to live more consciously and from this consciousness the will to make the changes in their live's to live optimally. Countless people suffer from an illness that affects their lives every day. Desperate for even just a modicum of reprieve from their illness, they turn to platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to see if there’s anything out there that might help. And on these platforms, it often takes them no time at all to encounter a segment that has seen an unprecedented rise in popularity over the years: Alternative Medicine. These videos and posts are usually by people who themselves have been impacted by the same illness. And they claim that the alternative remedy that helped them carried far less risk, and was far more effective, than treatments offered by modern medicine. It sounds appealing, and even a safe way to treat their illness. But the problem is, most of the people promoting these alternatives are either not licensed doctors, or simply promoting an alternative that’s a product they sell and make money from. In this episode, we dive into the world of Alternative Medicine. We discover the factors that have helped contribute to the rise in popularity, discuss the risks associated with this practice, shed light on who owns many of the alternative medicine products that are marketed as “Anti-Big Pharma.” And finally, we discuss what various researchers have found about the effectiveness of alternative medicine, from everything from extreme cleansing and other similar approaches, right down to the most basic daily multivitamins. Show Topic: Cancer Does Not Define You! Co-Hosts: Judy Gaman, Walter Gaman, Mark Anderson Guest: Dr. Kevin Ryan Segment 1 Intro – 30 sec. If you or someone you love has had a cancer diagnosis, this show is for you. We have a special guest coming up later in the show. Dr. Kevin P. Ryan, MD, MBA, FACP is a cancer doctor, cancer survivor, radio talk show host and author of “When Tumor is the Rumor and Cancer is the Answer. In 2016, an estimated 1,685,210 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the United States The number of people living beyond a cancer diagnosis reached nearly 14.5 million in 2014 and is expected to rise to almost 19 million by 2024. Approximately 39.6% of men and women will be diagnosed with cancer at some point during their lifetimes (based on 2010-2012 data). National expenditures for cancer care in the United States totaled nearly $125 billion in 2010 and could reach $156 billion in 2020. Open discussion of patient interaction when the “C” word is used How has cancer diagnosis and treatment changed in the last 20 years MUSIC FOR DOC SHOCK (JIM) THAT MUSIC MEANS ITS TIME FOR DOC SHOC. A TIME WHEN WE FIND SOMETHING SHOCKING IN THE NEWS OR WE'RE SHOCKED IT MADE THE NEWS. New research on e-cigarettes is making the news. University of California, San Francisco looked at the danger to teens. While e-cigarettes were meant to be a way to wean adults off regular cigarettes, it appears to be a gateway for teens that leads to smoking and drug use. They found that teens can also become addicted to e-cigarettes, but that is not the worst of it. They looked at 104 teens with an average age of just over 16 years. 67 were e-cigarette users, 17 used e-cigarettes as well as traditional cigarettes, and 20 did not smoke or vape and were used as the controls. Teenagers who vaped had a three times higher concentration of toxic compounds in their bodies. In the case of teenagers who used both tobacco cigarettes and e-cigarettes, the concentration of toxic chemicals in the body was an additional three times higher than those who only vaped. It seems to have a compounding affect. It also turns out that some of these flavors, though FDA approved in their natural state become carcinogenic when they're heated. Read the study! What makes for new science? What happens to the evidentiary basis of the medical profession when patients demand treatments beyond the range of their conception of human biology? Are the criteria of the sciences amenable to healing practices that are touted for their focus on singularity, rather than uniformity? Colleen Derkatch‘s Bounding Biomedicine: Evidence and Rhetoric in the New Science of Alternative Medicine (University of Chicago Press, 2016) investigates how boundaries between traditional and novel are erected at the level of medical rhetoric. Derkatch analyzes both expert and popular literature on Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), an umbrella term designed to encompass homeopathy, meditation, naturopathy, and traditional Chinese medicine, among other things. Demand for alternative treatments by patients has produced an uncertain situation in which clinical frameworks are used for practices traditionally seen as being outside the realm of biomedicine. Through concerted engagement with different genres of medical communication, Derkatch's rhetorical cultural approach allows the reader to see the extent to which the boundaries of what counts as biomedicine or not rest on conceptions of evidence and categorization schemes promoted by allopathic medical professionals. With a keen eye turned to communication strategies and assumptions, Derkatch shows the subtle ways in which the norms of biomedicine are challenged and strengthened by attempts to reduce other treatments to processes that can be evaluated on the basis of standards of evidence and efficacy. This is the second of a pair of interviews on alternative medicine: for a historical consideration of naturopathy as an alternative to allopathic medicine, look out for my interview with Susan Cayleff on her book, Nature's Path.
