Today's service was presented in a different kind of format. As Jonathan delves into the “Cabin Fever” that the prophet Elijah experienced, he separates it into 3 sections followed by an opportunity to respond in song (which for copyright reasons we won't be including in this podcast, but feel free to seek out these songs) Something is being formed in Elijah as he goes through seasons of extreme isolation, extreme dependence and extreme obedience. Songs from today include: “Here” (elevation worship) “Sparrows” (Bethel music) “So will I - 100 billion x (hillsong music) “Egypt” (Bethel music)

Jonathan Parnell, SVP of product development, and Zach Parnell, CEO of Industrial Training International (ITI), talk with us on innovation within training, specifically in regards to crane and rigging training using Virtual Reality (VR). ITI was founded in 1986 and is one of Inc5000 fastest growing companies in 2020. They were awarded the Liberty Mutual Safety Innovation Award in construction for their VR Construction Hazard ID platform. They regularly collaborate with some of the largest players in the construction space including Bechtel and Kiewit, among others. Whether or not you or your company has a need for training within the crane and rigging space, the discussion on the utilization of VR in the workplace setting is going to be of benefit. As Jonathan and Zack mention within this episode, there are pro’s and con’s to using VR for training but when done right, the pros far outweigh the cons. While compliance is paramount, employers are not looking at just checking a box. They are looking for their employees to be competent at what they are doing. Ensuring that the skills are in place is necessary before putting workers on a job site. A multiple-choice test is not going to give workers the skills they need. Topics addressed in this episode: VR used for training within the industrial workplace Why skill training outweighs compliance training Ability to remotely train with skills-building using VR The pitfalls with using VR Consider the problem first instead of the initiative What other aspects to consider when thinking about implementing VR for training Links: https://www.iti.com/ Jonathan Parnell: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathan-parnell/ Zack Parnell: https://www.linkedin.com/in/zackparnell/

Why People Pay for Fitness When They Could Get it For Free (Online Trainer Show #49) The idea of paying for fitness is a new phenomenon. But fitness has always been free, so why would people pay for it? In this episode, the team talks about the opportunities in the global health and fitness industry, as well as how knowing your audience and why focusing on a niche market makes all the difference to succeed in a decentralized and democratized market. In This Episode: The HUGE potential for the health and fitness industry [23:57] Jonathan explains the “Long Tail Effect” [27:01] How to solve the mystery of why people spend money [30:03] The core psychological element missing from typical fitness programs [33:36] How to know you’re training with somebody who truly understands you [34:53] Carolina and Amber shares how they resonate with their tribe [38:34] Why you should focus on a niche market [44:29] “You need to solve this mystery of why people spend money, and this kinda’ opens up your mind to the power of YOU, to what makes you different.” - Jonathan Goodman Why Pay for Training Sure, there are a lot of free training programs, especially for people with internet access. So why pay for training? People are willing to pay for a business that can answer YES to the question, “Is this made for me?” It’s About Your Audience Your job is not to impress your peers. It’s only about your audience. People want to be sure you’re someone who understands their unique needs, inner dialogues, what they’re going through, and all of the pressures they have so they can trust you. Focus on a Niche Market How do you rise above a democratized and decentralized market? As Jonathan said, “Whenever power shifts back to consumers, quality is going to beat quantity.” You will be more effective if you’re not distracted by the masses. Jonathan Holcomb, CHIA, Corporate Director Revenue Strategy & Distribution for Storey Hotel Management Group joins me from San Francisco, California during my day of recording at Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe | Houston. Storey is mostly boutiques, with a motor inn, & 255-room property opening in April. Key takeaways: Closed all hotels April 1 wtih one re-opening the middle of April. The first opened property is further along than the rest with higher occupancy and more of a rate draw. As Jonathan reviews his STR comp set, he’s seeing this property outperforming most. Data Jonathan is reviewing what he calls ‘micro event’ data: data from OTAs, conversations with fellow Revenue Managers, impact from wildfires. November and December have never been great months but looking at drive markets and packaging live music events with a room product and food and beverage credit. No sales staff left but partnering with a PR company while doing some marketing on their own. Partnering with entertainers who have a strong following who promote their event along with the room packages. Advice for hoteliers? Revenue manage everything.
We are in the midst of a teen mental health crisis. Since 2011, the rate of U.S. hospitalizations for preteen girls who have self-harmed is up 189 percent, and with older teen girls, it’s up 62 percent. Tragically, the numbers on suicides are similar — 151 percent higher for preteen girls, and 70 percent higher for older teen girls. NYU social psychologist Jonathan Haidt has spent the last few years trying to figure out why, working with fellow psychologist Jean Twenge, and he believes social media is to blame. Jonathan and Jean found that the mental health data show a stark contrast between Generation Z and Millennials, unlike any demographic divide researchers have seen since World War II, and the division tracks with a sharp rise in social media use. As Jonathan explains in this interview, disentangling correlation and causation is a persistent research challenge, and the debate on this topic is still in full swing. But as TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and the next big thing fine-tune the manipulative and addictive features that pull teens in, we cannot afford to ignore this problem while we sit back and wait for conclusive results. When it comes to children, our standards need to be higher, and our burden of proof lower.

A few days ahead of the game’s 24th anniversary, comedian Mark Watson joins us to remember one of England’s most iconic victories on today’s episode of the Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard. As Jonathan frantically scrambled from a university exam to catch the game, Terry Venables’ England side prepared for a crucial game in Group A of Euro 96. After the infamous night out in Hong Kong ahead of the tournament, then the disappointing 1-1 draw with Switzerland in the opening game, a win was crucial for the hosts. Mark, Jonathan and Marcus revel in their heady memories of a glorious summer of football – perhaps best encapsulated by Paul Gascoigne’s moment of genius as he nonchalantly flicks the ball over Colin Hendry’s head and smashes it home. As Jonathan says, "You've never heard a better concept album based on a minor prophet." Are there any regrets? Have you ever made any bad decisions in your life that you wished you could do a "do-over"? Do you wish that you can find freedom from the past, past burdens or even past "curses" from your family? As Jonathan nears the end of his Deuteronomy series, in this chapter, he compares Moses' blessing to the 12 tribes vs Jacob's blessings and how being in God's covenant there is freedom and new life. Enjoy!
What are the common mistakes that you need to avoid when filing your Social Security disability claim and appealing a denial. What do you need to watch out for at your disability hearing? In this episode, I interview Chicago Social Security disability lawyer Jonathan Pearson. Jonathan lives and works in Chicago, where he represents disability claimants in Chicago, Evanston, Lake Forest, Orland Park, Schaumburg, and Downers Grove. He represents claimants at all stages of the disability application process and he shares his extensive knowledge about disability law on his website and blog.In our conversation Jonathan and I discuss some of the common problems that derail even the most deserving SSDI and SSI claims. You greatly improve your chances at winning disability benefits if you speak Social Security's language and you understand that every word you write or speak in pursuit of disability benefits is important. As Jonathan notes in our discussion you should never assume SSA understands what you are trying to say unless you offer a detailed explanation. I hope you enjoy hearing from Jonathan Pearson as much as I did and invite you to rate this podcast and let me know what you think and what you would like from future episodes.=============== FREE SURVIVAL KIT ================Don't know where to begin? We’re all on a health journey. We don’t travel alone in this! Join us as we learn more about our founder, Jonathan Hunsaker! He’s openly sharing about his childhood and how he came to start Organixx. Jonathan shares inspiration and motivation by sharing his struggles and successes along his health journey. Jonathan’s one big takeaway for you is to take it one thing at a time, and if you fall off the wagon, don’t wait until January 1st to get back on it, don’t wait until your birthday to get back on it, don’t wait until Monday to get back on it. Just get back on it now, right? Everybody does that. It’s like “Alright, well, it’s Wednesday. You know what? I’m going to start my new diet on Monday.” Well, what do we do? We eat like crap all the way through Sunday night, and then Monday morning, we decide to start our new diet. Well, Wednesday, we fall off our diet, and it’s like “You know what? I’m going to try again Monday.” But then we eat like crap until Monday. And the problem is, is we think that we’re going to go restrict ourselves, so we’re going to start doing this thing that we’re no longer—that’s going to keep us from being able to enjoy all this other fun stuff, and so, we gorge. And during this process of trying to start a new diet or a new way of eating, whatever you want to call it, we actually gain weight because we’re gorging for those three days before we start a new diet. Well, consider not waiting. Consider starting today, start right now. If you’re listening to a podcast, you want to make a decision to quit smoking, quit right now. Don’t wait until Monday, don’t wait until tomorrow. As Jonathan tells us, “I think that if you fall off the wagon, get right back on it. Only tackle one thing at a time. And over a year, over two years, over three years, you will develop healthy habits that will stick with you for the long-run. And if you fall off, like I did, you have a strong base to get back onto and continue on that journey.”

Paula Stone Williams knew from a young age that she was transgender. But as she became a parent and prominent evangelical pastor, she feared that coming out would mean losing everything. In this moving, deeply personal talk, Paula and her son Jonathan Williams share what Paula's transition meant for their family -- and reflect on their path to redemption. As Jonathan says: "I cannot ask my father to be anything other than her true self."
This is The Do It For Yourself Podcast. Each week I sit down with someone who is doing it for themselves and chasing a dream they just couldn’t suppress. This is often speakers, entrepreneurs, or athletes. They all share one thing in common, they are overcoming challenges and never giving up. Someone who is Doing It For Themselves is not selfish in their pursuit, they are simply chasing a dream or working towards a goal because it is something THEY want to do. They are not forging down a path because society or someone is telling them it’s what they should be doing. This week I have the opportunity to sit down with a VERY interesting guest that I never imagined would be on The Do It For Yourself Podcast. I am joined by Jonathan Pritchard who is a mentalist helping companies relate to their customers and sell their products. Jonathan's journey actually started in magic and not as a mentalist. He began doing magic as a kid and he absolutely loved it. Jonathan was constantly practicing tricks on his family and then his friends as he got older. As Jonathan got older, he was taught how to juggle. He began juggling with tennis balls and then worked his way up to pins through a summer camp that his parents had placed him in. Jonathan began to realize that the more he implemented from this mentor, the more success he began to have. Once in college, Jonathan wiggled his way into an amazing relationship with a local restaurant when he went to dinner one night. He realized that this local restaurant had a very long wait on the weekends and so he went to the manager and offered to entertain the guests as they waited for their tables. Jonathan worked out to trade off some of his work for dinner credits. He began meeting very high-level executives while they were waiting for their tables. Jonathan began booking gigs outside of the restaurant and it was a win-win situation for everyone involved. The restaurant was keeping customers entertained while they waited for their tables so they didn't leave, he was earning money and he was booking new gigs. Jonathan was in a very serious relationship after college and he was traveling around a lot during this time working for all of these companies. Even though on the outside it seemed like Jonathan had everything going on for him. It was, however, the exact opposite. He was in a relationship that was not good for him, but instead of confronting the issue, he took the easy way out and cheated on his wife thinking this would make it go away. In a way it did, but Jonathan realized he needed to gain some discipline in his life. He began doing kung-fu every day to gain this discipline. From building this structure, Jonathan began to get back on track and building his business back up. It gave him the ability to put things together and realize that he had something to share with the world. Jonathan has since built up an amazing resume of companies that he has worked with and helped connect with their customers on a higher level. I really hope that you enjoy this interview with Jonathan as much as I did! Jonathan's twitter Jonathan's Website Do It for Yourself Instagram Support the show here!
As Jonathan prepares to take up his new role with Aira next week, this is the last episode of The Blind Side Podcast that will be produced on a weekly basis. As circumstances allow and subjects arise of interest, you will still see the occasional episode being produced. After listener comments, we conclude our smart home series with Jonathan describing some of the technology he and Bonnie are using. Thank you so much for listening to these regular episodes over the last two-and-a-bit years.

As athletes, we all know if we exercise, we'll feel better and get stronger. When you start adding in focus and structure, I like to say that you are no longer just exercising: you are training. As a Professional Athlete myself, I've been through pretty much every scenario of trying different things in my training, I've been chronically overtrained, I've played with doing minimal training, and I'm always looking for the latest research and methods for improvement. Today's guests are two people I respect and continually follow for new information - they are the backbone behind the popular cycling trainer app: TrainerRoad. I've personally used TrainerRoad to get me through the winters and I even train for long stage races indoors using the dynamite combo of Trainer Road and the Wahoo Fitness KICKR Smart Trainer. This episode isn't about riding the trainer per se, it's about a lot of pitfalls and common questions that come up with any type of endurance sport. We have the Head Coach at Trainer Road, Chad Timmerman here today along with Jonathan Lee. Chad has devoted his life to researching the science behind cycling and testing ways to get faster on the bike with over a decade of experience. Jonathan Lee is Level II USA certified cycling coach and the host of the Ask a Cycling Coach podcast. His background is in motocross, but he is an avid and high level mountain bike racer as well. He is a good friend and also posts some really fun stuff on instagram. I love the Trainer Road Ask a Cycling Coach Podcast because Chad, Jonathan and also Nate Pearson (who started TrainerRoad) answer listener's questions each week. I also really enjoy their blog. I wish I could sit and geek out about training with guys all day, but we had to condense it down to just one hour. One hour where I took your questions from my facebook page and got some answers. If I had to pick some key takeways from today's conversation for you, it would be understanding the importance of recovery and what that actually looks like, trying to figure out your body so you can tell if you're starting to get overtrained, how much you actually need to train to get faster, how to balance training with a full life, the key to success at stage races, and more. As Jonathan said in the show, "Experience reigns supreme" so by trying new things and getting to know our own body and trends, we can be a more intuitive athlete. Listen Now Topics Discussed in the Podcast Does Foam Rolling Work? How to measure fatigue & heart rate variability What does a rest day look like? Identifying the razors edge of training vs overtraining Is riding inside the same as riding outside? the secret to success at a stage race how to manage expectations when you have a full life coming back from sickness how to pick a coach Links TrainerRoad Website TrainerRoad Podcast TrainerRoad Twitter Join! This week, the Bowery Capital team hosted Jonathon Ende, Founder & CEO at SeamlessDocs, to discuss “Public Sector SaaS: Selling Into Government.” SeamlessDocs' public sector SaaS platform helps government clients not only digitize their existing forms, but also process and track them. The company aims to be “the future of government forms,” bringing modern, intuitive user experience to the government-citizen interface. Though perhaps not the sexiest market, the opportunity is massive: US federal & state budgets alone exceed $10 Trillion. Unlike many software companies that sell into government today, SeamlessDocs is 100% focused on the public sector vertical. Jonathon, therefore, has embraced the idiosyncracies of selling into government, seeing them as potential moats rather than challenges to be avoided. Think how often you personally face agony over DMV appointments or jury summons. Attaching a service cost to all of those incidents, then multiplying by a 9-figure factor (applicable citizen-users) makes clear the scale & ubiquity of the problem SeamlessDocs is solving. And the buyers are there: efficient, paperless, user-friendly citizen interaction would mean billions in cost savings for under-resourced governments. Jonathon founded SeamlessDocs in 2011 alongside CTO Chaci Camejo. Today, SeamlessDocs employs over 40 FTEs, operating largely out of its New York City headquarters. Customers range from the State of New Jersey to the City of Los Angeles. Since founding, the business has raised ~$17MM in venture financing from Seed through a Series B approximately a year ago, from Motorola Solutions, Govtech Fund, and others. In today's episode, Jonathon will walk us through his framework for successful sales in public sector SaaS. Selling into government isn’t a simple prospect. As many horizontal players who have dipped their toes into government prospects know, budgets can be opaque, sales cycles can be long, and existing systems are often a nightmare. Jonathon and I discuss the realities of public sector SaaS sales today. In short, it may not be as bad as you think. That said, it takes a deep understanding of your customer universe, and Ideal Customer Profile within it, to build credibility early in these sales processes. As Jonathan details, there are absolutely buyer champions out there in government. Ensure your public sector SaaS solution (and sales team) is truly understands prospects’ issues, concerns and limitations, and you can activate them. We cover topics such as: sales strategies, lead qualification, sales team organization, sales team education, and other topics uniquely germane to public sector SaaS. Jonathon Ende is the Founder & CEO at SeamlessDocs, a role he has held since founding the business in 2011. Prior to SeamlessDocs, Jonathon was the co-founder of The Alley, a technology share space here in NYC. Jonathon served as CEO to two companies even earlier in his career, including LegalLogix, the first business he founded, back in 2010. Few modern, sales-oriented SaaS CEOs client (and prospect) bases are 100% government / public sector; Jonathon, however, is that rare find, making him a perfect guide to today's podcast topic. Happy listening!

Wall Street Unplugged - Your Best Source for Finance, Investing & Economics
Welcome back to another episode of Wall Street Unplugged! After a crazy week and the successful launch of my brand-new newsletter, Curzio Research Advisory… it’s time to get back to business. On this week’s show I’m jumping right back into my favorite sector, junior mining. Today I welcome back a guest that has made listeners a lot of money over the years… He is the co-founder & CEO of Gold Standard Ventures (NYSE: GSV), Jonathan Awde. The first time Jonathan was on the show, his exploration company, Gold Standard Ventures, was under 40 cents. Today, the company is over $2.00 per share. To start off the interview, Jonathan catches listeners up to date… breaking down their recent game-changing acquisitions. Including a 21,000 acre acquisition which increases their holdings at the south end of Nevada’s Carlin Trend by 66%. Gold Standard Ventures now holds the second largest contiguous land package on Nevada’s Carlin Trend. It’s known as one of the most “prolific” gold producing areas in the world. But this isn’t the best part. For such a small exploration company, Gold Standard Ventures has been building an extremely strong treasury. As Jonathan will explain in the interview, several significant investors have bought stake in the company since we’ve last talked. One corporate investor in particular is Goldcorp. They are the 3rd largest gold producer in the world. And they recently increased their stake in the company over 10%. This is a huge factor going forward. To add to the story… Jonathan gives listeners his 2017 outlook. As GSV plans to take on their biggest, most ambitious drilling program in the history of the company, Jonathan claims this is going to be their “biggest year” to date. So investors: If you felt you missed the boat last occasion… It’s time to take another look. At current levels, the stock looks attractive. Plus, the share price is coming off a 27% pullback from it’s highs. The company seems to be on the cusp of a rebound considering all the catalysts Jonathan unfolds in front of us today. PS – Don’t leave after my guest signs off. Educational Segments are back! On this episode I’m taking the Walt Disney company under the microscope. After Goldman Sach’s recent “buy” recommendation, I’m stepping in to pull apart the truth from all the noise.
As Jonathan says: "Viewey Real Estate is a boutique real estate agency founded by brothers Nicholas and Jonathan Viewey. Our passion is connecting people with property they love. What are you currently doing to share your story with your audience? We now know that people interact with a product or brand at least 5 times before they make a decision to buy. Think about the last time you made a significant purchase; you went Google, Facebook, email, free trial, and research before actually handing over that first dollar. So, why don't we provide the same opportunities for our future athletes to get to know us? Are we leaving money on the table by not consistently communicating with our audience? Jonathan Herrick, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer and Partner at Hatchback joins us this week to de-mystify the ways in which we communicate with our audience. One thing is certain - there is a lot of noise out there. How can we cut through it? As Jonathan outlines, we start by understanding our Core Values. Do you have a culture that "wow's" your members? I'm sure you do. What are you doing to share that story? Armed with a clear mission and Core Value, we must understand and respect our audience's values. How can we help them? How many times and in how many ways can we speak value into their lives before they ever hand over money? This is the heart of Branding - telling the story of your Core Values to the people that matter most to you. Engaging with your loyal fans to continually provide a meaningful customer journey.
The year is fast running out, but with the holiday season approaching Gary and Jonathan invited award-winning writers and critics Paul Kincaid and Adam Roberts to join them in the Gershwin Room to discuss a small sampling of the best science fiction and fantasy books of the year. They also discussed some of the most interesting and important trends in science fiction during 2015. What books are recommended? Well, you'll need to listen to the episode to get the full list, but there are a good handful of familiar books and few surprises that you may want to hunt down before the year is done. As Jonathan says towards the end of the episode, whether this is the final Coode Street recorded for 2015 (we do have several others recorded for you and there may be a special second best of the year episode) or not, we would like to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to listen to the podcast, for the feedback you've sent in throughout the year, and for your support of Coode Street. We'd also like to thank everyone who has made time to appear on the podcast during 2015. It's been a heck of a year.
As Jonathan attacked the Philistines, the Philistines melted away in all directions. The previously surrendered Israelites turned on the Philistines and those Israelites who fled in the hills attacked their flanks. Saul called for the high priest to inquire of God, but the answer was too long in coming, so he attacked the fleeing Philistines, who now, were fighting against themselves as well. As the Israelites attacked, Saul made a vow, 'cursed be anyone who eats today, until I get my vengeance upon my enemies.' In this episode, we see what happens to Saul's vengeance fast and its parallel in the Book of Judges.
I'm pleased to post Show #201, my interview with Jonathan Band of policybandwith.com. Jonathan has been at the center of many major technology policy issues, from the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), over the past 20 years. As Jonathan represents many clients as a lobbyist, I was excited to have him on the show to discuss the current lay of the land in Washington in IP policy. We had a wide ranging and candid discussion of the policy and politics of IP, both at the domestic and international levels. I hope that you enjoy this timely discussion! {Hearsay Culture is a talk show on KZSU-FM, Stanford, 90.1 FM, hosted by Center for Internet & Society Resident Fellow David S. Levine.
