How do we find black holes? And how can we tell whether it's a small black hole “eating” really fast or a large black hole that's eating very slowly? To find out, Dr. Charles Liu and co-host Allen Liu welcome astrophysicist Dr. Vivienne Baldassare, a professor of astronomy and physics at Washington State University. As always, though, we start off with the day's joyfully cool cosmic thing, the recently published composite photo of the X-ray Binary System in nearby starburst galaxy NGC_4214. Vivienne explains how X-ray Binaries, which are relatively rare, are created by a stellar mass black hole or a neutron star being fed by a star. Chuck and Vivienne discuss the differences between using the new James Webb Space Telescope and “old tech” like the Hubble Space Telescope and the Chandra X-ray Observatory, and how she uses Chandra to find black holes. Professor Baldassare explains how she uses x-ray observations, optical spectroscopy, and variability data to find intermediate-mass black holes, which she is one of the first astronomers to find. You'll hear about the differences between stellar mass black holes, supermassive black holes, and the intermediate-mass back holes that fit somewhere between. Then it's time for our first student question, from Lorenzo, who asks, “Are stars only found in galaxies, and if not, where else?” Vivienne explains that most stars are found in galaxies, but they can also be found in globular clusters. There are also hyper-velocity stars, which can be found in the halo of our galaxy on their way to escape our galaxy entirely. A discussion of the Chandra X-ray Observatory, which spends about 80% of its time outside the Van Allen belts, turns into a discussion about all the manmade objects orbiting the Earth, including Chandra, Hubble, satellites... and lots of space junk, too. We've currently got about 8,000 satellites orbiting Earth – a surprising amount of which are SpaceX Starlink satellites, with more “satellite constellations” planned by SpaceX and others. You'll find out about the risk of chain-reaction debris collisions due to solar storms and other disruptive events, Kessler Syndrome, the environmental consequences of mostly-aluminum satellites burning up in our atmosphere, and the first fine every levied for space junk, against Dish Network. For our next student question, Adrian wants to know how tiny black holes can swallow super giant stars? Vivienne explains how tidal disruption, when the gravity on one side of an object is greater than on the other side, can pull a star apart in months or even weeks! Finally, Vivienne talks about being an ultra-marathon runner and a trail runner, hiking with her dog, and the importance of being able to go out to wild spaces in nature. Chuck gets here to share a favorite hiking memory – a 7-day, long distance solo hike around Mt. Blanc after presenting her work at a conference in France. A non-interacting Galactic black hole candidate in a binary system with a main-sequence star by Sukanya Chakrabarti et al. on Tuesday 11 October We describe the discovery of a solar neighborhood ($d=474$~pc) binary system consisting of a main-sequence sunlike star and a massive non-interacting black hole candidate. We selected this system from the textit{Gaia} DR3 binary catalog based on its high mass ratio and location close to the main sequence. The spectral energy distribution (SED) of the visible star is well described by a single stellar model, indicating that no contribution from another luminous source is needed to fit the observed photometry. We derive stellar parameters from a high S/N Magellan/MIKE spectrum, classifying the star as a main-sequence star with $T_{rm eff} = 5972~rm K$, $log{g} = 4.54$, and $M = 0.91$~msun. The spectrum also shows no indication of a second luminous component. We have measured radial velocities of this system with the Automated Planet Finder, Magellan, and Keck over the past three months, which we use to determine the spectroscopic orbit of the binary. We show that the velocity data are consistent with the textit{Gaia} astrometric orbit and provide independent evidence for a massive dark companion. From a combined fit of the astrometric and spectroscopic data, we derive a companion mass of $11.9^{+2.0}_{-1.6}$msun. We conclude that this binary system harbors a massive black hole on an eccentric $(e =0.45 pm 0.02)$, long-period ($185.4 pm 0.1$ d) orbit. The main-sequence star that orbits this black hole is moderately metal-poor ($mbox{[Fe/H]} = -0.30$), on a Galactic orbit similar to thin disk stars. Our conclusions are independent of cite{ElBadry2022Disc}, who recently reported the discovery of the same system, and find a marginally lower companion mass than we do here. arXiv: http://arxiv.org/abs/http://arxiv.org/abs/2210.05003v1

Fundamental parameters for dEB SB2 binary system J064726 39+223431 6 A new challenge for stellar evolution models by Mikhail Kovalev et al. on Monday 26 September We present a study of eclipsing binary J064726.39+223431.6 using spectra from the LAMOST-MRS and TESS photometry. We use full-spectrum fitting to derive radial velocities and spectral parameters: ${T_{rm eff}}_{A,B}=6177,,5820$ K, $v sin{i}_{A,B}=59,,50~kms$ and ${rm [Fe/H]}_{A,B}=-0.19$ dex. The orbital solution and light curve analysis suggest that it is a close pair of fast rotating stars on circular orbit. We measure their masses to be $M_{A,B}=1.307pm0.007,, 1.129pm0.005,M_odot$ and their radii to be $R_{A,B}=1.405pm0.052,, 1.219pm0.060,R_odot$ resulting in surface gravities of $log{g}_{A,B}=4.259pm0.033,,4.319pm0.042$ (cgs). Theoretical models cannot match all of these properties, predicting significantly higher ${T_{rm eff}}$ for a given metallicity. Derived age of the system 1.56 Gyr indicates that both components are younger than Sun. J064726.39+223431.6 is a good candidate for high-resolution spectroscopic analyses. arXiv: http://arxiv.org/abs/http://arxiv.org/abs/2209.12548v1

Did you know I taught the binary system of numbers to my son when he was maybe 9 years old. Not only that - at the time he could go back and forth between the binary and decimal system for small numbers.  The twist is that my son has Down Syndrome, is Autistic and non-speaking. But I wouldn't classify him as a genius. Over years I have worked on and refined a process that I call Non-Linear Education - that I have used to help my son overcome barriers - both imposed by society and sometimes by his multiple diagnoses.  In this podcast, I talk you through the 7 steps involved in teaching complex math (or science) to your child with Autism or Down Syndrome or other disability.  Download / Print the 7 steps at www.functionalnutritionforkids.com/binary If you have enjoyed this podcast, I would love it if you could leave a review wherever you are listening!

The binary system of the spinning-top Be star Achernar

The binary system of the spinning-top Be star Achernar by P. Kervella et al. on Sunday 18 September Achernar, the closest and brightest classical Be star, presents rotational flattening, gravity darkening, occasional emission lines due to a gaseous disk, and an extended polar wind. It is also a member of a close binary system with an early A-type dwarf companion. We aim to determine the orbital parameters of the Achernar system and to estimate the physical properties of the components. We monitored the relative position of Achernar B using a broad range of high angular resolution instruments of the VLT/VLTI (VISIR, NACO, SPHERE, AMBER, PIONIER, GRAVITY, and MATISSE) over a period of 13 years (2006-2019). These astrometric observations are complemented with a series of more than 700 optical spectra for the period from 2003 to 2016. We determine that Achernar B orbits the Be star on a seven-year period, eccentric orbit (e = 0.7255 +/- 0.0014) which brings the two stars within 2 au at periastron. The mass of the Be star is found to be mA = 6.0 +/- 0.6 Msun for a secondary mass of mB = 2.0 +/- 0.1 Msun. We find a good agreement of the parameters of Achernar A with the evolutionary model of a critically rotating star of 6.4 Msun at an age of 63 million years. We also identify a resolved comoving low-mass star, which leads us to propose that Achernar is a member of the Tucana-Horologium moving group. Achernar A is presently in a short-lived phase of its evolution following the turn-off, during which its geometrical flattening ratio is the most extreme. Considering the orbital parameters, no significant interaction occurred between the two components, demonstrating that Be stars may form through a direct, single-star evolution path without mass transfer. Since component A will enter the instability strip in a few hundred thousand years, Achernar appears to be a promising progenitor of the Cepheid binary systems. arXiv: http://arxiv.org/abs/http://arxiv.org/abs/2209.07537v1

Accretion and extinction variations in the low-mass pre-main sequence binary system WX Cha by Eleonora Fiorellino et al. on Monday 12 September Light curves of young star systems show photometric variability due to different kinematic, and physical processes. One of the main contributors to the photometric variability is the changing mass accretion rate, which regulates the interplay between the forming young star and the protoplanetary disk. We collected high-resolution spectroscopy in eight different epochs, as well as ground-based and space-borne multi-epoch optical and infrared photometry of WX Cha, an M0 binary system, with an almost edge-on disk (i = 87degrees) in the Chamaeleon I star-forming region. Spectroscopic observations cover 72 days, the ground-based optical monitoring covers 42 days while space-borne TESS photometry extends for 56 days. The multi-wavelength light curves exhibit quasi-periodic variability of 0.35 - 0.53 mag in the near-infrared, and of 1.3 mag in g band. We studied the variability of selected emission lines that trace the accretion, computed the accretion luminosity and the mass accretion rate using empirical relations and obtained values of the accretion luminosity between 1.6 and 3.2 Lsun and mass accretion rate between 3.31x10{-7} Msun/yr and 7.76x10^{-7} Msun/yr. Our results show that WX Cha is accreting at a rate larger than what is typical for T Tauri stars in the same star-forming region with the same stellar parameters. We theorize that this is due to the higher disk mass of WX Cha than what is usual for stars with similar stellar mass, and to the binary nature of the system. Daily changes in the accretion luminosity and in the extinction can explain the photometric variability. arXiv: http://arxiv.org/abs/http://arxiv.org/abs/2209.04304v1

KIC 6951642: confirmed Kepler γ Doradus- δ Scuti star with intermediate to fast rotation in a possible single-lined binary system by A. Samadi-Ghadim et al. on Monday 12 September KIC 6951642 has been reported as a candidate hybrid pulsator of type-$gamma$ Doradus-$delta$ Scuti from observations of the first quarters of the Kepler mission. We aim to investigate the pulsating nature of KIC 6951642 and to search for the signature of rotation and/or activity in the light curves. We performed an iterative frequency search of both Fourier spectra, and searched for regular patterns in them. We applied spectrum synthesis to determine the atmospheric stellar parameters. Since KIC 6951642 was reported to belong to a spectroscopic binary system, we fitted the time delays derived from the light curves with the radial velocities obtained from published as well as new spectra in an attempt to improve the quality of the first orbit. Follow-up spectroscopy showed that KIC 6951642 is a fast-rotating F0-type star in a possible single-lined binary with a period of $sim$4.8 yr. In the low-frequency regime, we identified the frequencies of 0.721 d$^{-1}$ as well as of 0.0087 d$^{-1}$. We attribute the first frequency to stellar rotation and the second one to stellar activity with a cycle. We also detected $g$ modes, with the strongest mode located at 2.238 d$^{-1}$, as well as three asymmetric multiplets (with a mean spacing of 0.675$pm$0.044 d$^{-1}$). In the high-frequency regime, we detected frequencies of type-$delta$ Scuti, with the strongest mode located at 13.96 d$^{-1}$, as well as seven asymmetric multiplets (with a mean spacing of 0.665$pm$0.084 d$^{-1}$). We subsequently identified a few more frequencies that appear to be combinations of a $g$ or $p$ mode and one of the higher cited frequencies not due to pulsations. We propose that KIC 6951642 accommodates for a fast-rotating $gamma$ Dor-$delta$ Sct hybrid star with various rotationally split multiplets of $g$ and $p$ modes and that it also displays a cycle lasting years of (possible) stellar activity. arXiv: http://arxiv.org/abs/http://arxiv.org/abs/2209.04651v1

OGLE-2019-BLG-1470LABc: Another Microlensing Giant Planet in a Binary System? by Renkun Kuang et al. on Wednesday 07 September We report the discovery and analysis of a candidate triple-lens single-source (3L1S) microlensing event, OGLE-2019-BLG-1470. This event was first classified as a normal binary-lens single-source (2L1S) event, but a careful 2L1S modelling showed that it needs an additional lens or source to fit the observed data. It is found that the 3L1S model provides the best fit, but the binary-lens binary-source (2L2S) model is only disfavoured by $Deltachi^2 simeq 18$. All of the feasible models include a planet with planet-to-host mass-ratios $10^{-3} lesssim q lesssim 10^{-2}$. A Bayesian analysis based on a Galactic model indicates that the planet is super-Jovian, and the projected host-planet separation is about 3 $mathrm{au}$. Specifically, for the best-fit 3L1S model, the two stars have masses of $M_1=0.57^{+0.43}_{-0.32}M_{odot}$, and $M_2=0.18^{+0.15}_{-0.10}M_{odot}$, with projected separation of $1.3^{+0.5}_{-0.5}$ $mathrm{au}$, and the planetary mass is $M_3=2.2^{+1.8}_{-1.3}M_{rm{Jupiter}}$. For the 2L2S model, the masses of the host star and the planet are $0.55^{+0.44}_{-0.31}M_{odot}$ and $4.6^{+3.7}_{-2.6}M_{rm{Jupiter}}$, respectively. By investigating the properties of all known microlensing planets in binary systems, we find that all planets in binary systems published by the KMTNet survey are located inside the resonant caustics range with $q gtrsim 2 times 10^{-3}$, indicating the incompleteness of the KMTNet sample for planets in binary systems. Thus, planets in binary systems cannot be included in the current study of the KMTNet mass-ratio function, and a systematic search for planetary anomalies in KMTNet microlensing light curves of binary systems is needed. arXiv: http://arxiv.org/abs/http://arxiv.org/abs/2204.05606v2

x86 Systems x86 is a generic name that is used to refer to all Intel processors that were released after the original 8086 or 8088 variant of Intel processors. The variants like 80286, 80386, 80486 so on.. were named using the convention x86, where the 80 is implicit, and x can be replaced with a number conveniently. These are backward compatible systems. 8086 or 8088 are the various names that are used to Identify the microprocessors of Intel that were released in the 1970s. Registers used in the early x86 systems A Register is a tiny memory holding electronic device that is used by the processor to either store instructions, data or address. These are fundamental units that are used when executing a computer instruction to perform a task. x86 systems ranged from 8-bit, 16-bit and then 32bit. What do these bits refer to? They are the highest number of bits in a single register that exists in the system. Maximum memory limit When we say 32-bit, the number will contain 32 digits with each of them being either 0 or 1. The number system used here is Binary System ( power 2 ). Hence, the maximum possible value here will be 2³², which is 42,94,967,295. These are the maximum number of memory locations that a 32-bit register can access. We can only attach that memory device which the register can completely make use of. Thus, a 32-bit register can cater a maximum of 4GB of RAM. This is because, if each memory location that the register points to can hold 1 byte of data, then 42,94,967,295 bytes = 4.29 G. Although this is theoretical, the actual RAM that can be used will be less than around 3.5G, because of certain parts of the register being used to store other types of data. x64 Systems For the systems that evolved to use 64-bit registers, they initially named it x86–64, but since this sounds longer, the naming was changed to x64 systems. x64 is a generic name that is used to refer to all Intel processors that are 64-bit processors. The x64 systems as mentioned above contains registers that are even capable of storing 64bits in a single register. Theoretical Maximum memory limit When we say 64-bit, the number will contain 64 digits with each of them being either 0 or 1. The number system used here will be Binary system just like the 32-bit family. Hence, the maximum possible value here will be 2⁶⁴. Thus each 64-bit register can cater a maximum of around 18 Quintillion bytes of memory. ( One Quintillion is 10¹⁸ ). Therefore it will be able to handle the usual RAM that we come across everyday effortlessly, including enterprise production servers. Processing power of x64 systems x64 systems come with configurations like dual core, quad core, octa core and so on, which depicts the number of processors that work simultaneously in an integrated circuit. This enables the Operating system to perform tasks parallely. While dual-core has two cores than one single core, every task that it does need not be twice as fast as a single core machine. This is because, even the operating systems and programs that is using the processors should be able to perform parallely using multi processors. Roadrunners is a series that is aimed at delivering concepts as precise as possible. Here, a roadrunner is referred to a person who does things super fast & efficient. Are you a roadrunner? https://medium.com/@tharunshiv/x86-vs-x64-systems-for-roadrunners-18de2d488020

The original podcast post is here: https://pixelatedgeek.com/2020/06/binary-system-podcast-223-wtnv-169-whittler/ This week we're recapping a Night Vale episode full of wood carving and excellent horoscopes, but first we wanted to mention the week's events. What can you say about the past week? It sucked, obviously. A man was murdered by the police, and since nobody wanted to listen when someone took a knee, now things are much, much louder. Binary System is on the side of the protesters (and we believe the looting is the fault of instigators who have no loyalty to the Black Lives Matter movement) and supports the end of systematic racism in this country. (Head to this post to see ways you can help.) But if you're looking to mentally escape from **gestures wildly and emphatically at everything** we also talk about Lore Olympus, The Shining, comfort TV, and conspiracy theories that are more fun than scary. This week's outro is a clip from Black Love by The Easton Ellises. (Yes the title's a little on the nose for this week, but we liked the song, and the sentiment stands.) https://freemusicarchive.org/music/The_Easton_Ellises/Black_Love/03_the_easton_ellises_-_black_love__instrumental

On today's episode, Chris digs deep into the concept of a multi-party political system, where representation is more focused on bringing ideas and being results oriented, and where the choices are beyond just A or B. He argues that the binary system of our R's and D's has essentially failed in that there is no position other than opposition, and compromise is seen as weakness. It's no longer enough to say either party has a 'big tent'- there has been such an expansion of our ideological spectrum in recent years that our society is ripe for a multitude of parties with the potential to  build coalitions to move the ball forward. Any ball.A NY Times opinion piece by Lee Drutman also gets Chris thinking about ways to make this happen: Drutman's idea centers around six parties, and how they'd represent broader, more diverse districts through passage of The Fair Representation Act.And another thing: When can kids under 12 get the vaccine??

Two years ago we had a conversation with Hannah about our go-to movies, and last year we talked about The Cell and As Above So Below, so this year we're talking about The Thing from Another World (the 1951 version), Crimson Peak, The Wicker Man (the 1973 version), Angel Heart, 28 Days Later, Paranormal Activity, and Pitch Black. And then we went off on a ton of tangents as we listed movies that aren't great but have parts you should fast forward to (Prophesy for Christopher Walken, and Amityville Horror for Ryan Reynolds' abs), debated on whether or not having vampires in it makes it horror, wondered whether or not Christopher Eccleston has really and truly made his peace with Doctor Who, and briefly touch on Carnival Row (pretty!) and Jessica Jones season three (...darnit...) This week's outro music is Synthwave E by TeknoAxe. https://youtu.be/RBxnYXGNNAk The article where Cara Delevingne explains why she uses an Irish accent in Carnival Row is here. (Short version: it made sense to her, especially since so much about fairies comes from Irish folklore. Correction #2: that moment long after you watch something when you realize a plot point didn't make sense is called Fridge Logic, not a Fridge Moment. The original podcast post is here: https://pixelatedgeek.com/2019/01/binary-system-podcast-161-bumblebee-and-other-transformers-topics/ It sure doesn't happen very often: both the East and West Coast branches of Binary System actually saw a movie before it left the theaters. But it was a Transformers movie, and the reviews were great, so how could they NOT go see it? Spoilers ahoy! Listen in as they break down everything they loved (and a couple teeny tiny things they didn't) about Bumblebee. After that they segued into...more Transformers stuff, including the Transformers The Movie mini-documentary that Kathryn recommends, IDW's Transformers: Historia, and, you know, all the other IDW Transformers books that they loved. This week's outro music is a clip from the Bumblebee score by Dario Marianelli which, seriously, if it's one thing we loved about the Michael Bay movies it was the score by Steve Jablonsky, but Marianelli did a hell of a job with the music in Bumblebee. https://www.amazon.com/Bumblebee-Motion-Picture-Score-Marianelli/dp/B07L46D6VY The mini-documentary Kathryn mentioned is called Really That Good - Transformers: The Movie (1986), and it takes a very in-depth look at how something that was basically a series of toy commercials leading to a ninety-minute toy commercial ended up being so meaningful to an entire generation of children. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9iab0z6Kyg The Youtuber who talks about The Male Gaze and how it applies to the Michael Bay Transformers movie franchise is Lindsay Ellis https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCG1h-Wqjtwz7uUANw6gazRw, and her whole Transformers Film Studies series is really, really good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRXI__Wixas&list=PLJGOq3JclTH8J73o2Z4VMaSYZDNG3xeZ7 Correction: We referred to the main character in Michael Bay's first Transformers movie as Spike. The original podcast post is here: https://pixelatedgeek.com/2019/02/binary-system-podcast-164-websites-that-help-you-watch-movies/ Technically this podcast is about websites that help you watch movies, but aside from the RunPee app (and what a glorious invention that is) it's mostly about sites that can give you a heads up about triggers in movies. Here at Binary System we've never been sure what to think of trigger warnings, but we're fascinated by websites that categorize movies by every potentially traumatizing thing you can think of: snakes, bugs, car crashes, clowns, damaged teeth; you name it, there's a site that can tell you if a movie has it. So this week we're going over some of our favorite finds (including the RunPee app, which counts if you think being super uncomfortable for the last twenty minutes of a movie is traumatic, which we do.) This week's outro music is a clip from W-ITEM GLITCH by Kanji Kinetic. (Fair warning: the song goes RIGHT off the rails after the clip we used, but we liked the beginning.) http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Kanji_Kinetic/Saishiken_EP/02_W-ITEM_GLITCH Correction the first: Elizabeth called doesthedogdie.com “crowdfunded.” She meant “crowdsourced.” Correction the second: Elizabeth would also like to apologize to Jesse Williams for forgetting he was in Cabin in the Woods. Then there's the Night Vale Bonus Episode "The Tragic Story of Louie Blasko," which we don't recap so much as point excitedly at the computer yelling "You guys you GUYS you need to listen to this!" Seriously. Right now. It's only ten minutes. Go on, it's okay, we'll wait. We also go on a tangent about China Mieville's The City and The City, and how there may be a BBC adaptation and what a mind-f*#k that will be, and about Twin Peaks' version of The Weather, and how Cillian Murphy can nail a dead-eyed stare, but with more sexy.

The original podcast post is here: https://pixelatedgeek.com/2017/07/binary-system-podcast-88-the-alice-isnt-dead-catch-up-episode-part-2/ This week Binary System recaps two episodes of Alice Isn't Dead in record time and that's it! We're all caught up with podcasts! And in one week San Diego Comic-Con takes over our lives and we're going to get totally behind again. Enjoy the moment while it lasts... Of course while trying to do a recap we go off on tangents about people who mine wikipedia for the best stuff, and about what a modern day oracle would look like (they probably wouldn't be wearing greek robes in a cave, most likely a hoodie in an abandoned van) and about why you can't eat the oranges on the ASU campus. Correction the first - more like an addendum really: turns out the sour oranges on the ASU campus (which have traditionally been used as a "oh you should totally eat one of those" prank on freshmen) are now being used as part of their "Campus Harvest" program, and can be made into marmalade, vinaigrettes, and drinks! Find more about that awesomeness here. https://asunow.asu.edu/20170131-sun-devil-life-asu-sour-orange-harvest-time Correction the second - Elizabeth said Leland had mentioned a Killian Murphy with a K. This of course is completely wrong. Leland had mentioned a talented actor named Killian Scott but Elizabeth tacked the “Murphy” onto the end because words just drop out of her mouth without her brain being aware, happens all the time.

(Or, if you're not celebrating Thanksgiving, happy Thursday.) Want to kill some time while the turkey's baking? Need to while away the minutes in the car? Want to get away from the holiday cheer with some good old fashioned negativity? We're here to help! Presenting the first-ever Binary System Crapfest! In an attempt to keep all our complaints and judgeyness contained in one place (...which totally will not work...) we're ranting about as many things as we can cram into a half hour, and no more than two minutes per rant. What makes our list of things we hate? Listen in to find out! With one caveat: No. Politics. The intro and outro music this week is by Birdstriking: "Hate Me? You Did!" which seemed appropriate.

Nobody can quite agree on which one is the absolute best or worst (you'd think we could all agree on westerns and space golf) but we're pretty sure which one will win.

We geek out over the artists we got to meet, give a breakdown on our first attempts at Doctor Who cosplay, and talk about the awesomeness that is the Big Apple. Oh hey, you know how we keep saying "New York Comic Con is almost as big as San Diego Comic-Con?" Turns out, it's bigger. WAY bigger. San Diego Comic-Con clocks in at 130,000+, but bleedingcool reports NYCC set a record with over 180,000. No WONDER Saturday was so crazy!

Absolutely nothing! Seriously, are you surprised? After 50 episodes if you think we've got a game plan we'd like to talk to you about this section of prime real estate in the Everglades, lovely spot, we'll just need your credit card number... Seriously though, we tackled this episode with all the randomness we could put behind it, and jumped from Penny Dreadful to Stranger Things, Mr. Robot, the Foreigner Series, Game of Thrones, the Craft Sequence, Neil Gaiman, Chuck Palahniuk, prom night, Civil War 2, time travel, the Thessaliad, Sins of the Wreckers, Transformers that break, and being surprisingly girly about it. Don't judge. Kathryn's review of Neil Gaiman's How to Talk to Girls at Parties is here. The Craft Sequence Books are by Max Gladstone and you should probably be reading them. The tumblr artist Kathryn mentioned is Linda Marie Anson. The Soundwave Evolution figure review is live, complete with video, you can check it out here. Jada's Sherlock panel recap is here, Drew's latest rebirth post is here, and the photos from Nerd Con 2016 are here! (If you know where we can rent one, please leave a message in the comments. We will worship you if we get one.) So instead, we have a quick talk about how San Diego Comic-Con starts up in one week, some Convention tips, what we've got planned, what we hope to see, and how many Welcome To Night Vale cosplay photos we want to take. The Welcome to Night Vale crew must have known that we're all busy getting ready for San Diego Comic-Con, because the Bonus Episode we recap this week was maybe eight minutes long. Nine minutes, tops. To use up some more time, the twins talked about their plans for SDCC 2015. Oh, and Kathryn finally watched the first season of The Walking Dead. (Kathryn's note: Because when I jump on a bandwagon I...wait until the bandwagon's been idling at the curb for about five years. And then I sneak onboard. Like a ninja.) Elizabeth's note: Super bonus content for this episode: the Binary System drinking game! One drink every time you hear a siren on Elizabeth's track. And a teeny sip any time you hear any other kind of traffic noise. (Please be careful with this one: apparently every frick-fracking car in San Diego's post-Fourth-Of-July traffic was rerouted past Starbase Wallace this week and we do not want you to get alcohol poisoning.)
