The truth about turning 40? It's a f*cking glow-up. Confidence starts feeling as natural as breathing—until society tries to drag us off our pretty pink cloud. But guess what? We're not having it. In this unfiltered, hilarious, and wildly empowering episode, bestselling author and no-BS truth-teller Cara Alwill sits down with PR powerhouse Gwen Wunderlich to spill the real tea on life after 40. We're talking sex, perimenopause, making (and keeping) money, and stepping into your full power as a woman in business—all with zero apologies. If you're ready to own this era of your life like the main character you are, hit play. Because this is the conversation every woman over 40 needs to hear.
Pop the champagne, babe—this episode is straight-up delicious. I'm sitting down with my longtime friend, The Champagne Diet queen, and author of nearly ten books, Cara Alwill, for a conversation that's as juicy as it is inspiring. Cara and I go way back, and in this episode, we're reminiscing about our parallel journeys—breaking free from relationships that dimmed our sparkle, finding our voices in business, and navigating the highs and WTFs of dating. She shares the story of how she walked away from a life that felt too small, started her blog in 2008, and eventually became the powerhouse coach and creator she is today. We talk about staying alive in the artistry of our business without chasing the standards of success, the courage it takes to stay true to who you're becoming (instead of clinging to who you were), and why fear isn't the enemy—it's just part of the ride. If you've ever felt like your online presence is a tightrope walk between authenticity and expectation, this episode is basically your permission slip to drop the act and just be you. And because no convo with Cara would be complete without some love talk, she gives me the inside scoop on her upcoming book—a post-divorce dating memoir filled with all the lessons, laughter, and holy-sh*t moments that come with learning to love again (yourself included). So pour something bubbly, get cozy, and let's dive in. Just like my Success Coach & friend Cara @thechampagnediet says in this quote, “Choose yourself and watch the world start choosing you too.” The same holds true for your life and money desires…. In the 13+ years that I've been creating, re-imagining, and refining my brand, The Champagne Diet, I've witnessed many "experts" and coaches offer different approaches to business building. Some I've agreed with, and some have been downright damaging. One of the more popular approaches is finding your niche. And while I am not totally against niches, I don't think they are for everyone. If you've found something super specific and it's working for you and your audience - that's wonderful! I just know I could not do the exact same thing for the past 13 years, and almost every single one of my business clients has come to me feeling suffocated by the idea that she has to choose some specialized segment of her market and never veer off course. In today's episode, I'm sharing my thoughts on why the "niche" is dead and how we can begin to look at our brands from a completely different, more creative, empowered perspective. I'm popping in with a quick announcement to invite you to my FREE mini masterclass/champagne happy hour! RSVP here I don't think I knew over 13 years ago that I was building a brand when I started The Champagne Diet blog. I was simply expressing myself to the world, sharing the things that I loved (like my passion for champagne, Chanel, and the celebration of life), and bringing others along with me as I created something fun and unique. Now I bet when you have a glass of champagne, you can't not think of me ;) In my now nearly decade and a half of doing what I do, I have become passionate about personal branding and the mindset needed to create a memorable one that has a massive impact and brings in massive income. That's why I'm so thrilled for tomorrow's FREE mini masterclass where I'll be sharing a sneak peek of my brand new course ICONIC. To be honest, this course began as a personal branding course, but has evolved into SO much more. If you're an entrepreneur (at any level) who is ready to: Gain total clarity on your brand vision so you no longer feel overwhelmed, blocked, or stuck. Cultivate the confidence to raise your prices, ask for the sale, and share your offerings and products with passion and certainty. Raise your vibration and establish new beliefs around what is possible for you. Truly know your worth, what you bring to the table, and develop the discernment to know what serves you and what does not in your life and your business. Then you cannot miss this FREE event on Tuesday, 10/5 at 4 PM ET. RSVP here and you will receive an email with the private link for the event :) If you miss the live event, we'll send you a link with the replay!

She is a New York City-based creative entrepreneur who encourages women to live their most effervescent lives, celebrates themselves every day, and make their happiness a priority. In this episode, Cara and I discuss some of the ways women can show up for themselves, how to learn from past experiences, and how to give yourself time to daydream. She also reminds us to ask, “What is the best-case scenario?” instead of, “What if I fail?” Last, she shares her perspective on failure: specifically, that failure is a possibility, but why you should do it anyway. In this episode you’ll hear: Why choosing yourself is so important (9:00) How Cara actually got to the point of ‘choosing herself’ (10:00) Why women have the capacity to give themselves a permission slip and don’t need to seek approval from others (14:00) Spending as much time with yourself is the best way to get the answer you need (18:00) Viewing rejection as redirection - it’s an opportunity to look at yourself and ask, “How am I going to handle this?” (20:00) Speak kindly to yourself and think optimistically about your dreams (29:25) Cara Alwill Leyba is a New York City-based creative entrepreneur who encourages women to live their most effervescent lives, celebrate themselves every day, and make their happiness a priority. I'm SO excited to be collaborating again with my good friend, mentor, and inspiration in so many ways, Cara Alwill Leyba from The Champagne Diet. Cara is a female empowerment coach, blogger, podcast host, and self-published author of 9 books, including the best seller Girl Code. Today, on 11/11, and eleven years since she first started this journey with The Champagne Diet blog, she is releasing her 9th book, Girl on Fire: How to choose yourself, burn the rule book, and blaze your own trail in life and business. I love Cara and her book because unlike a lot of other coaches out there who will tell you they know the best way to do things, Cara inspires you to find YOUR way, to blaze YOUR unique trail and find what lights YOUR fire. She is also extremely relatable, in the sense that she struggled with her weight for years, had deep self-esteem issues, dated guys that were wrong for her, and settled for less. In this episode, we'll teach you how to identify what self-limiting beliefs you have that are holding you back from expanding into the badass woman that you are. You'll also learn how to "style your mind" to love yourself fully and celebrate your life every day in every moment, not just the "champagne for special occasions" moments. Cara also gives us some actionable tips about how to get out of the comparison game we often find ourselves in on social media, and shares with us what advice she wish she could have told herself years ago about dating and relationships. Charelle and Verity have decided to discuss their relationships with alcohol and how this has evolved over the last decade. Verity discusses her history of being a typical Northern girl and being able to 'knock them back' and having to assess her relationship since her mid-twenties. She also touches on how she dated a Muslim guy and questioned if she could give up alcohol for love. Charelle come from a family that don't drink and she doesn't drink at Christmas! She was alcohol-free for the first year of Uni; much to the confusion of everyone around her. Now the enjoyer of a glass of wine, she discusses how saturated the theatre world (the sector she works in) is saturated with alcohol. Do you drink when you eat? Do you drink on your own? Would you happily go on a date without drinking? We discuss how acceptable alcohol is within British culture and there is more of a stigma being a teetotaller than being drunk! Verity explains how her drinking habits were different in India - both in Delhi and the dry town of Rishikesh - and we highlight how easy London makes it to knock the pints back! Why do you drink? Habit? To forget? Confidence? Stress? Social? Pure enjoyment? Let us know! Born and raised in Brooklyn, Cara worked for several years in corporate at MTV, but felt stuck knowing she really wanted to be a writer. She founded her blog, The Champagne Diet, and eventually self-published her first book, Girl Code. Since then she’s published several other books and her newest book, Like She Owns the Place releases July 10 (see Resources to get your copy and buy one for a friend, too!). Cara shares vulnerably and is super transparent about the unglamorous side of business. She does this in an effort to show other women what it really looks like when things fall apart and how we can shift our perspectives, find the good and remember who we were before things fell apart. This is such an empowering, feel-good episode and I can’t wait for you to enjoy it…perhaps with a glass of champagne (not if you’re driving!). ;-) -- Questions Asked in This Episode: Can you tell us a little bit about what you’re doing right now and what sparked that passion?
