Kevin Knieriem, President of Strategic GTM at Clari, wrote, "The sales forecasting process is so much more than just calling a number. It represents the entire operating rhythm of the whole company."On today's episode, we're going deep into forecasting, specifically how Operators can contribute to the forecasting motion at their companies. And to do that, I'm bringing in two people who I know understand the ins and outs of forecasting because I built it alongside them: Paul Shea and Chris Lowry. Paul and Chris were the architects of our Operations team's forecasting model that regularly forecasted within 5% of actual results. In our conversation, we talk about the crawl-walk-run approach you can follow to building your own model at your company, the tough conversations between Sales and Ops when your forecasts are different, and ultimately, whether all of this work is actually worth it.Like this episode? Years ago, a hot new book by one of my favorite columnists came out. I was leaving to speak at a conference taking place on a cruise ship (still my fav speaking engagement to date) but I couldn't wait to dig in. So I contacted the author to see if it was possible to have an advanced copy shipped to the hotel and he made me a deal: he'd send me a PDF if I promised to buy a copy once it was available to the public. Done. I still have that PDF, covered with notes, underlines, asterisks and underlines. It didn't hurt that his subject aligned closely w/ my PhD work, but the way he so effectively merged research grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go, even when that resulted in reading it on the beach during one of the cruise ship stops. Today we'll dig into the curiously elastic limits of human performance with the writer whose work continues to shape the course of how we're applying science here in the real world of endurance pursuits. Welcome to latest episode of the Catalyst 360 Podcast. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was forced to give in to a series of demands from detractors to win the support necessary to win the Speaker's gavel after a week of failed ballots. While most GOP lawmakers are downplaying the significance of McCarthy's concessions, the changes — which are designed to empower rank-and-file members at the expense of his own leadership authority — are also raising concerns that they could cripple the governing functions of the lower chamber. ONCE IN A VERY BLUE MOON by Debra LowryBrianna Nelson was born under a “Blue Moon”. Her psychic grandmother, Lilly, predicted that Brianna would “Walk under the Blue Moon” which would prove to be a difficult path. And Lilly was right. Brianna was raised by Mel, her alcoholic father, who could be nice when sober but mean and unpredictable when drinking! Brianna's life was dysfunctional; often she didn't have food to eat, and she was embarrassed to bring any friends home in case her father was on one of his ‘rants'. She did the best she could to survive a life without a mother and without help, a life where she often had to be the parent, buy the food and clean the house! Her Grandmother Lilly did what she could but was constrained by a promise she had made to Brianna's mother, Ivy. But thankfully, Brianna had a protector, Bobby Coleman, a boy who lived across the street who was a few years older than her. Bobby became her guide, her best friend and eventually, her love interest! She also had a faithful, kind friend, Rosie, who stands by her through the joys and the heartaches of her life.Brianna faces many challenges as she grows up, some very difficult and unexpected. But she manages to survive them and grows stronger and more determined to achieve her goals. Her biggest dream is to one day have her own antique business, following in the footsteps of Lilly. Lilly teaches her everything she knows, taking Brianna to auctions and showing her the value of each item she buys.In a climatic, frightening nightmare of a day, Brianna and Bobby are faced with the most horrible incident possible. They pull together to combat the most evil forces imaginable. Brianna will surprise you, impress you and make you laugh! She is an unforgettable woman who is someone you'd like to know!Debra Lowry loved to read from a very early age. She read all of the "Nancy Drew Mysteries,'' as well as just about any book she could get her hands on! She grew up in Davenport, Iowa. She attended The University of Iowa, where she majored in journalism and she was the homecoming queen. She later moved to Miami, Florida and worked on the Miami Herald Newspaper for two years. In 2008 Debra wrote a column for the 'Pineapple Post Newspaper' in Jensen Beach, Florida. She did a lot of human interest stories, interviews with local people and some investigative articles. She was a single mother for many years and raised an outstanding son, Chris Lowry, who went on to join the Army and went to Iraq three times during the years of 2003-2009. It was very harrowing for her and her son but fortunately he came home safely, and is now the father of three delightful children, two girls, ages 4 and 6, and a boy, age 8. Chris is an excellent, devoted father who now lives in Phoenix, Arizona.Debra has suffered with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for many years but has learned to live with and around it. Writing is one of the most important joys and therapies for her. Debra moved to Pt. St. Lucie, Florida and has lived there for 13 years. She loves animals and has several "rescue" animals living at her home! This was Debra's second novel to be republished with Global Summit House!https://www.amazon.com/-/es/Debra-Lowry-ebook/dp/B084P8V1LT/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_es_US=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&dchild=1&keywords=debra+lowry&qid=1616707481&sr=8-1https://www.debralowrycin.com/about-the-authorhttp://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/glsuho710.mp3

Most of us who lived through the back half of the 20th Century forgot about infections. We had vaccines for the terrible diseases of childhood and antibiotics for the scary diseases of adulthood. When we caught an infection, it was usually a cold. Certainly, AIDS sent shock waves of grief through many communities, but then antiretroviral medications converted it from a death sentence to a chronic condition. In general, we feared the things that killed most of us: heart disease, cancer and dementia. But how times change. The COVID pandemic has taught us that our human world is inextricably linked to the world of pathogens. Indeed, just as our civilization requires that we interact successfully with each other, so does it demand that we find intelligent ways forward in our relationship with the microbial world.Few scientists are better positioned to discuss ways to optimize our relationships with the microbial world than Christopher A. Lowry, PhD, Associate Professor of Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado Boulder. Dr. Lowry is famous for his work investigating how bacterial species we co-evolved with effect the brain in ways that promote an antidepressant effect. Building on this work, he has published widely on ways to optimize health and well-being by re-establishing more ancient and appropriate connections with the bacterial worlds within and without us.Join us as Dr. Lowry brings this expertise into a practical discussion of how our relationships with the microbial world can be harnessed to promote well-being.Featuring:Dr. Christopher A. We also talk to Jill Litt, a CU Boulder environmental health researcher, who’s traveled the world and found that getting your hands dirty is good for your neighborhood, too. And we join community gardener John Day on a tour of his plot. Lt. Col. Bill Sultenfuss is a retired United States Marine and retired public educator.  When I moved to Boerne in 1996, living on Park Place created great opportunities to make friends such as, Chris Lowry, Brad Henson, and Matt Beaman, which led to a highly rational fear of the scary old guy who usually screamed at us, "Get out of my yard!", while dropping passes by the tree he had planted in our South Endzone (AKA the start of his yard).  Coach Sultenfuss coached track, football, and taught numerous classes at Boerne High.  He was our world geography teacher in 9th grade and while his style may have seemed crass to some, he typically offered a harsh dose of reality to each of our individual deficiencies.  The style he used, one might say, has become obsolete in our over-sensitized country, which is a shame, because it was often a great motivator to be laughed at for failing math.  With three older brothers, I definitely understood what his angle was and was so fortunate to have been taught by Coach Sultenfuss.  I later passed math.   --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/erik-thormaehlen/support

Chris Lowry of Burns Insurance Group joins Michelle Moore and chats about insurance as it pertains to investors. First, Chris notes that flood insurance is changing. Because of the changing climate, proximity to water, any water, can be a threat. Flood insurance may be required and that impacts your bottom line. Second, if you have a significant volume of properties, consider swapping out your individual policies for a blanket policy that will give you a better rate.  Third, do NOT assume that vandalism is covered in your insurance policy. You have to ask for it. Finally, Chris reminds us that a builder or contractor working on your property should be required to have a certificate of insurance.

Children raised in a rural environment, surrounded by animals and bacteria-laden dust, grow up to have more stress-resilient immune systems and might be at lower risk of mental illness than pet-free city dwellers, according to new research. The study adds to mounting evidence supporting the "hygiene hypothesis," which theorizes that overly sterile environments can breed health problems, says co-author Christopher Lowry, a professor of integrative physiology at CU Boulder.

Dr. Chris Lowry explores his cutting-edge research on the interplay between the diversity of microbiome in the gut, and mental and physical health. He is currently researching an injectable form of M. vaccae, which can act as an inflammatory reducing agent in the body, in turn, reducing symptoms in conditions such as PTSD. He points out how living in overly-sterilized nations reduces our exposure to “old friends” and what this means for the future of our health. Due to a decrease in exposure to a diversity of microbiome found in soil, plants, and animals, people’s overall physical and mental health are compromised. Often, medicine addresses illness in a reactive manner without treating the underlying condition. Psychiatric symptoms are no different. One place that is often overlooked is the gut and its interplay with the mind. Dr. Lowry is going to explore this interplay, as well as offer some tips on how to address this issue in a simple manner. Dr. Christopher A. Lowry, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Integrative Physiology and Center for Neuroscience at the University of Colorado Boulder, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Center for Neuroscience at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC), a Principal Investigator in the Department of Veterans Affairs Eastern Colorado Health Care System, VA Rocky Mountain Mental Illness Research, Education, & Clinical Center (MIRECC), and director of the Behavioral Neuroendocrinology Laboratory at CU Boulder. He is Co-Director, with Dr. Lisa Brenner, of the Military and Veteran Microbiome Consortium for Research and Education (MVM-CoRE). Dr. Lowry’s research program focuses on understanding stress-related physiology and behavior with an emphasis on the role of the microbiome-gut-brain axis in stress resilience, health and disease. In this episode you’ll learn:M. Vaccae discovery in treating diseasesInjecting M.Vaccae to suppress stress-related outcomes related to psychiatric disordersAlpha diversity in the microbiome of the gut and the health of an individualWhat factors increase diversity of the microbiome in the gutHow sterilization of our environment can lead to mental health and physical illnessInjecting bacteria to treat depression, anxiety and PTSD Visit www.higherpractice.com/podcast to get the show notes for this episode and to learn more about how to get CE credits for Dr. Chris Lowry’s interview in the Higher Practice Institute.
