Fan Mail: Tell Wendy how you're saying yes to yourself!Kathryn Morea spent 29 years married before a divorce in her early 50s left her rebuilding an identity she hadn't touched in decades. She'd only ever known herself as half of a marriage, so figuring out who she was on her own, in her 50s, meant starting from a blank page most people don't expect to face at that age. Now in her 60s, she coaches midlife women through what she calls the glow-up: reclaiming body confidence, dating, and desirability instead of assuming that season of life is over. They explore:Why she believes so many women unknowingly operate from scarcity around dating and love, and what changed when she started seeing real abundance insteadThe specific mindset shift that made her stop apologizing for her body on dates, and why she thinks the apology itself sends the wrong messageWhat it took to separate her worth from a story she'd been telling herself for years about what was still available to her at this ageKathryn's story isn't about pretending midlife is easy. It's about refusing to accept the version of it she'd been handed by default. She spent years rebuilding from the ground up, and what she's built instead isn't a consolation prize for what she lost. It's a life she actively likes better.Connect with Kathryn:Instagram: instagram.com/kathrynunleashedBook your free call with Katheryn: calendly.com/kathryn-morea/one-on-one-call________________________________________________________________________________________Connect with Wendy:LinkedinInstagram: @wendy.harropFacebook: Phineas Wright HouseWebsite: Phineas Wright House PWH Farm StaysPWH Curated Experience and TravelInterested in being a guest on the show? Testing before getting physical is non-negotiable for me — ProDx Health makes it easy. First PASS-certified at-home STI kit, herpes testing included. 15% off: http://prodxhealth.com/discount/tabooIn this episode of Taboo To Truth, I tackle the question I hear from men over 50 more than any other: what do women actually want? Instead of another list of app hacks and texting rules, I go underneath the practical questions to the emotional ones that actually determine whether you build a real relationship or just rack up more first dates. I break down why men are re-entering dating with an outdated playbook, what women over 50 consistently tell me they're looking for, and I give eight concrete tips — from healing before you date to knowing the difference between chemistry and compatibility. I close with the reframe that matters most: dating after 50 isn't about finding the right person, it's about becoming the kind of partner who can build the relationship you actually want.In This Episode:0:00 ProDX Health (STI Testing)1:45 What Women Over 50 Actually Want2:19 The Real Questions Men Are Asking3:15 You're Not Picking Up Where You Left Off4:02 Why Neither Side Is Being Honest4:45 What Women Over 50 Really Say They Want4:58 Tip #1: Heal Before You Date5:32 Tip #2: Build a Life You Genuinely Enjoy6:18 Tip #3: Fix Your Finances First6:52 Tip #4: Get Curious, Ask Better Questions7:27 Tip #5: Be Authentic From Day One8:13 Tip #6: Put Real Effort Into Your Profile8:44 Tip #7: Stop Looking for "The One"9:12 Tip #8: Chemistry vs. Compatibility9:46 The Real Question You Should Be Asking10:30 Final Thoughts & Share This EpisodeWant a deeper look? Straight from the Source's Mouth: Frank Talk about Sex and Dating
A five hour date, nonstop texting, plans for coffee, then total silence. That's not a one-off story anymore, it's a snapshot of modern online dating, especially if you're dating over 50 and trying to make sense of the swipe-first culture. We sit down with Cathy Berra, author of “These Stories Are True, I Shit You Not,” to talk about what really happens when an older woman jumps into dating apps. Cathy shares how her friends helped her create her first profile, how the most ridiculous situations kept stacking up, and why those moments became a humor-filled book and a surprisingly big TikTok presence. Along the way, we unpack the bigger patterns. The conversation takes a serious turn with romance scams and catfishing. Cathy breaks down the scammer scripts that target older women, why people fall for them, and the red flags that can protect you on dating apps and platforms like WhatsApp. We also get into profile language, mixed signals around modern gender roles, age-gap dating expectations, and how social media has shrunk attention spans and weakened real face-to-face conversation skills. If you've ever thought, “Is it just me?” you're going to feel seen, and you'll probably laugh, too. When Maggie Jones's marriage collapsed after 23 years, she was devastated and overwhelmed. She was in her 50s, with two jobs, two teenage daughters and one dog. She didn't consider dating. She had no time, no emotional energy. But then a year passed. One daughter was off at college, the other increasingly independent. After several more months went by, she started to feel a sliver of curiosity about what kind of men were out there and how it would feel to date again. That meant online dating — the default mode not just for the young but also for people Ms. Jones's age. Her only exposure had been watching her oldest daughter, home from college one summer, as she sat on her bed rapidly swiping through guy after guy — spending no more than a second or two on each.Ms. Jones tells her story of online dating in later adulthood, and what she learned. In a much requested episode, I approach the landscape of dating after 50. After accepting the fact that everyone in this demographic has been wounded in some way, we can consider the challenge (and opportunity) of dating in this phase of life, namely: needlessness. Most people in this demographic aren't looking for marriage or kids or lifestyle. They don't need much from a prospective partner: just a genuine emotional connection. And I discuss how this is both good news and bad news. About Joe Devito: Whether taking on relationships, his Italian-American family, or current events, Joe DeVito's dead-on timing, unexpected twists and sheer flights of lunacy make him a favorite at clubs and colleges across the USA, and at the top venues in New York City. With all that is going on in the world right now I was second guessing whether doing an episode on dating and all the comedic aspects of the process is somehow disrespectful or tone deaf. However, as I thought about it a bit more, I remembered that we can feel sad, we can feel scared, and we can feel joy and still laugh. So, this episode is what the title says! My first Golden Bachelor review with some of my thoughts and observations. Then, I have an update for you on a few of the experiences I have had thus far in the dating pond, and the frogs in said pond who I absolutely did not kiss! If you could use a fun distraction, I hope you'll join me! And if you know someone who would enjoy this, or any episode, please share!

Hello and welcome to Loving Later Life! I am Nancy Lang Gibbs your host, and this month I'm sharing some of my crazy ass dates and relationships. Last week was one of the more intense sagas, so this week, instead of the super soapy saga I was going to share, (I'll save it for another time) I thought I'd share one that had some very funny moments before it became scary. After that, I have some one-liners from dates and almost dates that were so awful and absurd I had to write them down. Then a quick story of one that was actually a fix-up that turned sour, and lastly, to close out the episode and the month on a more positive note, I share about a couple of the good guys, even though they didn't work out. And I want to say again, I'm sharing these because we all have stories and there are numerous benefits of sharing our stories for the storyteller and the listener. In fact, I invite you to please record a voice memo, or write a story of yours and send it to me so I can share it. And if you'd like to be a guest on LLL, let me know so we can discuss that possibility.
