Send us a textA super important topic on the Menu today! We're talking Urinary Incontinence. Approximately 30-50% of women over the age of 50 experience some form of urinary incontinence, a condition that tends to become more prevalent with age. Our guest, Dr. Briana Walton, aka - the "Vagina Whisperer" brings the facts on this condition. This podcast provides crucial information and can help all, whether you are experiencing this or someone you know - your mother, grandmother, favorite auntie, or whomever. Do kegels still help at our age? And did you know that there are apps to help you locate the nearest bathrooms on-the-go? 'So glad you're here! *************BIO: Briana Walton MD. I have been a specialist in Female Medicine and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery for nearly 20 years. One thing I have learned, being on the giving and receiving end of medicine, is that we are continually changing. I chose this specialty because I enjoyed the spectrum of care provided over a woman's life time. And as I have seen my patients change and have changed myself, it has given me an appreciation for the mind, heart, and soul of a woman. As life evolves; having a baby, going through a divorce or surviving menopause, we begin to make choices about our care and appearance that we would never have considered in the past. Some of these choices are emotional and based on fear or concern about our medical health. However, many decisions we make are due to the natural phenomena that occur in a woman's body. These events push us to consider creating a new version of ourselves to address our intimate wellness. I would be happy and honored to help you ask critical questions, and begin to explore areas where you may not have had the courage to speak up. I have learned that women are hard on themselves and don't take time to take care of ourselves because we are always caring for others. I want to give women an opportunity to address their needs and their desires. At the Center for Feminine Wellness and Surgery, we will take the time to discover what's right for you and how to move forward in your renewal process. She is an active professional musician and enjoys performing on her violin, playing the piano, and singing at church and other churches and venues around the Central Florida area. Rechel is now married to Chuma Nganga Matee, who is from Kenya in East Africa. Rechel visited Kenya for the first time back in 2010. On that first trip, she began a project called: “The Parkway Kawelu Project.” This project allowed her to work with her students here in the U.S. and join Kawelu Primary School in Kenya. The schools worked together to raise money and help Kawelu, an underserved school in Kenya, to refurbish their school and make it more suitable for students. That program continues today but has gone through a metamorphosis. Rechel travels to Kenya every few years and takes members of the community, or students from her Youth Orchestra over to Kenya to service projects like planting trees and doing performances for several schools. Through the project, Rechel led a fundraiser to raise money to purchase English and Kiswahili books for school libraries at Yikisemei Primary School and Kawelu Primary School. When they were married, Chuma, as with custom, gave Rechel a Kenyan name. That name is Kyeni, (Chain-ee) which means “Light.” Outside of work, Rechel goes by her pseudonym: Kyeni Matee, in her new book, which you can order from most book-sellers, including Amazon.Facebook: @kyenimateeInstagram: @kyenimateeYouTube: Kyeni Matee / Support the Show.www.linkedin.com/in/marqueetacurtishaynes www.agelessglamourgirls.com https://www.youtube.com/@agelessglamourgirls Instagram and Facebook: @agelessglamourgirlsFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/agelessglamourgirlsPrivate (AGG) FB Group: The Ageless Café: https://www.facebook.com/groups/theagelesscafeTikTok: @agelessglamourgirlsPodcast Producers: Purple Tulip Media, LLC and WEG Media Group, LLC

One of my fondest memories of my childhood was watching the movie, Cinderella. I adored her gown and couldn't wait to someday wear my own. Like many young women, I wore my first fancy dress to my high school prom. I was lucky because my mother, who was a seamstress, made my beautiful dress. This is prom season, and young women everywhere are choosing dresses and other outfits to strut on their special night. Thanks to a savvy and kind woman, a retired investment banker turned substitute teacher, turned community leader – many high-schoolers in Newark, New Jersey, and surrounding areas are getting their dresses for FREE! Their Fairy Godmother and our guest today on the Ageless Glamour Girls Podcast is Jacqueline E. Barnes, a Community Health Worker. Tomorrow, Saturday, May 4th is the big giveaway, where some 300-plus dresses, along with shoes and other goodies are up for grabs! Jacqueline shares with us how she makes the magic happen. Many of us are rediscovering our talents and/or working well into the "traditional" retirement age, and we're doing it with vigor and purpose. Some of the co-authors of the Amazon best selling anthology, "Ageless Glamour Girls: Reflections on Aging," are among that group . It happens to the most vulnerable among us – we're talking elder abuse, which unfortunately, is on the rise - rates worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic and our aging population. Abuse can occur in facilities and at home. It does not discriminate. What is elder abuse? What are the signs, and why is it happening? And you might be surprised to learn who's abusing older people the most. We should all be concerned. June is National Elder Abuse Awareness Month. But it's a subject matter that needs to be discussed and monitored throughout the year, perhaps daily. And that's where the National Council on Aging, and its advocacy work comes in. For insight into this serious issue, we spoke to Genevieve Waterman, Director of Economic & Financial Security, at the National Council on Aging. ‘She shares so much great information! To learn more about elder abuse and what's being done to fight it, visit the NCOA's website: https://ncoa.org. ‘Want to give a shout-out to all the dedicated and compassionate caregivers! One might call this a Podcast Detour. Instead of our usual discussion aimed at helping women 50+ navigate this beautiful, inspirational, but sometimes challenging journey, we turn to men for enlightenment, with a keen eye on Fatherhood. We went into our archives for this show. This episode first aired last year, on Father's Day, and it most definitely bears repeating. Fatherhood, which involves nurturing, guiding, and providing for the well-being of one's offspring, both emotionally and materially, can be one of the most transformative and rewarding experiences of a man's life. I give you exhibit-A: this podcast. Take a listen to these fantastic men speaking from the heart and sharing their thoughts on being a father. And a special shout-out to the men who humored me, by participating in this AGG Podcast. THANK YOU!!!Note: I was blessed to have such a wonderful father in my life. This is dedicated to you, Daddy.
