Z A day that may reshape the global order began with a series of coordinated moves that culminated in Donald Trump's 90-minute call with Vladimir Putin. Here's what unfolded, and why it matters. The Timeline At 11:00 AM ET, Tulsi Gabbard, known for her Kremlin ties, was appointed Director of National Intelligence. At noon, America executed a prisoner swap, releasing Alexander Vinnick - a key architect of Russia's 2016 interference campaign - in exchange for former teacher Mark Fogel. Twenty-six minutes later, Trump and Putin began their first call of Trump's second term. The Putin Call The 90-minute conversation revealed a dramatic shift in America's position. Trump and Putin discussed what they called a "peace plan" for Ukraine - notably without Ukraine's President Zelenskyy present. The call covered Middle East peace and artificial intelligence, treating Russia as an ally rather than an adversary. It ended with mutual invitations: Trump to Moscow, Putin to Washington. The Crypto Scheme Exposed While diplomatic drama unfolded, new details emerged about Trump's meme coin launch. Analysis reveals: Over 800,000 investors lost a combined $2 billion Just 31 early trading wallets collected $680 million in profits The Trump family netted $102 million in trading fees alone Early traders bought at $0.23, saw the price surge to $75.60 The timing is crucial: these tokens were launched just before Trump took office. The pattern mirrors classic pump-and-dump operations that regulators have long warned about. The Bigger Picture Today's events represent more than isolated incidents. They reveal a systematic dismantling of American institutions and safeguards: Disbanding of the KleptoCapture Task Force that seized Russian oligarch assets Elimination of Foreign Interference Task Force Shutdown of election interference monitoring units Attacks on key intelligence agencies The combination of diplomatic realignment and financial manipulation points to a broader strategy. As one wallet linked to the crypto scheme made $111 million in just two days, questions arise about who really profited from these coordinated moves. What's Next? The implications of today's events will reverberate far beyond Washington. With cryptocurrency potentially becoming a cornerstone of future Treasury operations and America's traditional alliances in flux, the stakes couldn't be higher. Learn more about your ad choices. John also shares his thoughts on the Army today, how to fix recruiting, the Israeli pager war, and why we must never forget that a Special Operator's job is to close with and destroy the enemy.Watch, listen or read our conversation from a vehicle many of us spent too much time in. As part of Japan, Richard Barbieri soon became the thinking person's synthesist, famous for his rich and textural electronic backings that beautifully complemented the work of other band members to forge what is still a unique sound to this day. Disbanding at the height of their fame, Richard went on to work on a wide array of projects, some with fellow members of Japan, one of which introduced him to Steven Wilson. He joined Porcupine Tree in 1993 and, aside from Wilson, is their longest serving member to this day. After a twelve year hiatus, Porcupine Tree reconvened to write and record ‘Closure / Continuation', their 11th and, some would say, best album to date. Rob Puricelli managed to catch up with Richard during rehearsals for the first leg of their tour to support the album and began by asking him about his first exposure to, and experience of, electronic music.Chapters00:00 - Introduction01:16 - What was your first experience of electronic music?03:33 - The Non-Musician 06:44 - Synth Heroes 10:05 - Do the old synths still have a place in your work?12:37 - Sound Design and your go-to synth16:26 - Sampling19:36 - Using Reason25:37 - The live rig and touring with Porcupine Tree in 2022/2332:11 - Getting the band back together33:55 - Spatial Audio38:26 - The new album44:57 - Regurgitating the past46:30 - What gear excites you today?LINKS/CREDITS Music clips provided by Richard BarbieriRichard Barbieri's Artist Page - https://kscopemusic.com/artists/richard-barbieri/Porcupine Tree Website - https://porcupinetree.com Richard Barbieri BiogHailing from London, Richard joined Japan in 1975 and saw huge success around the world until the band split in 1982. He continued to work with David Sylvian, as well as Sylvian's brother, Steve Jansen on separate projects. He reunited with Sylvian, Jansen and bass player Mick Karn for the Rain Tree Crow project and continued to play with Steve & Mick as part of ‘JBK'. In the early 1990s, the three of them teamed up with Tim Bowness and Steven Wilson as part of No-Man and it was here that Barbieri and Wilson would begin their long musical association. Porcupine Tree had initially been a Wilson solo project but he recruited Richard in 1993 and over the next 17 years, became one of the shining lights of the neo-prog / pop scene, embracing a more heavy style as the years went on. Reuniting in 2021, they released the first Porcupine Tree album in 12 years with 2022's ‘Closure/ Continuation', a critically acclaimed return to form. Richard has a large body of solo work which he started to release in 2005 and still does to this day.Rob Puricelli BiogRob Puricelli is a Music Technologist and Instructional Designer who has a healthy obsession with classic synthesizers and their history. Underoath from Tampa, Florida have released 8 studio albums with their 9th coming early next year. Identifying as a Christian band for most of their career, they appealed to religious teens across America who were able to bring heavy music into their home because of the band's outwardly expressed faith. For the non-religious, Underoath were simply a really good band who happened to be Christian. Disbanding in 2013 amidst rising interpersonal tensions within the band, fatigue from touring, substance issues and conflicting values, they returned in 2016 and abandoned their Christian identity. Today we're talking about our favorite songs by the Manchester lads who went on to become the biggest rock stars in the world - that's right listeners, today we're talking about the bad boys of Britpop - it's OASIS! Famous for songs 'Wonderwall', 'Live Forever', 'Don't Look Back In Anger' and 'Cigarettes and Alcohol', the band started in 1991, when Noel Gallagher joined his brother Liam, Paul Bonehead Arthurs, (guitar), Paul McGuigan (bass guitar), and Tony McCarroll (drums). The band was called The Rain before Noel joined, but they swiftly changed the name to Oasis. With various lineup changes over the years, the Gallagher brothers remained the core members throughout. Signing to Alan McGee's Creation Records in '93, they put out what's been often labelled as one of the best debut albums ever - Definitely Maybe. Lined with hits like 'Live Forever', 'Supersonic' and 'Cigarettes and Alcohol', they become overnight rock'n'roll stars, with their chaotic antics filling front pages of the tabloids. Their second album took them to a whole other level. Replacing drummer Tony McCarroll with Alan White, they embarked on What's The Story (Morning Glory), which was released to much hype and expectation in 1995 at the peak of Britpop rivalry with Blur,. Although at first receiving negative reviews in the press, the album went on to become one of the highest selling albums of all time, and the biggest selling UK album of the '90s. Declaring themselves 'bigger than God', they then put out one of the most hyped albums in history, 'Be Here Now', which, despite it's lavish Rolls Royce in a mansion's pool album cover and initial critical acclaim, failed to live up to expectation. Disbanding in 2009, Oasis ended up releasing 7 studio albums, and remain one of the highest selling bands of all time, with eight UK number one singles, and eight UK number one albums, as well as three platinum albums in the US - not to mention a swag of awards including 6 Brits and 2 Grammys. Let's roll with it, don't look back in anger, and stock up on cigarettes and alochol, because its time to to discuss our favorite songs by Oasis.

Today we're talking about our favourite songs from one of our favourite bands, The White Stripes. Formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1997 by singer/ guitarist Jack White and drummer Meg White, the band emerged from a vibrant local scene and were soon taking their unique blues rock sound around the globe with a relentless touring schedule. Their first three albums won them a serious cult following– their third album White Blood Cells got a re-release in 2002, which coincided with the garage rock explosion that year, and they never looked back. They earned 3 Grammy's for Best Alternative Music Album over their career, with a catalogue that consists of six studio albums, a best of, two live albums, one EP, a concert film, a documentary, and 14 very cool music videos. The White Stripes stood out with their lo-fi recording and writing process, their blues rock influences, their fashion and design concepts with the red white and black theme across all albums, their genius music videos and their brilliant publicity ideas, such as the great mystery of if they were brother and sister as originally specified, or if they were actually ex-husband and wife. For the record, it was the latter, with Jack White originally being Jack Gillis the upholsterer before taking Meg's surname. Disbanding in 2011, they recently put out a Greatest Hits album via Jack White's label, Third Man Records, a name which goes all the way back to his first company, Third Man Upholstery. Let's talk about our favourite songs from The White Stripes.
