When Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider dropped an F-bomb during a live post-game interview, the crowd cheered. Just days earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump used the same word on camera, when talking about Venezuela's leader. From politics to sports to pop culture, the F-word seems to be everywhere, In shows like Succession and The Bear, and even in everyday conversation. Some say it's a sign of authenticity and emotion. Others call it a decline in civility and respect. Our question: Do you judge someone who uses the F-word? How do you feel about more widespread acceptance of swearing?

Betrayal shakes our sense of safety and self-trust—and that lights up fear. In this conversation, fear researcher and author Dr. Mary Poffenroth breaks fear down into plain language and gives you practical, physiology-first tools to calm the brain in the moment. We cover how fear hijacks the amygdala (your alarm system), how to bring the prefrontal cortex (clear thinking) back online, and how to tell the difference between fictional fears (rumination, future-tripping) and non-fictional fears (real, in-the-moment cues). You'll leave with quick exercises you can do anywhere—no apps, no gear, no supplements. What we cover Why high-achievers and “head types” often research their feelings instead of feeling them—and how that becomes a hidden avoidance loop. How fear shows up after betrayal: fear of change, of the unknown, of failure and success, and the loss of control those trigger. The RAIN framework to move through fear step by step: Recognize, Assign, Identify, Navigate. Two fast neurohacks you can use anywhere: Pinch the Valley: massage the meaty point between thumb and index finger to stimulate the vagus nerve and down-shift arousal. Near & Far (convergence drill): track a finger/pen from arm's length to your nose and back to engage convergence and cue parasympathetic “rest & digest.” The nervous-system bus: only one driver at a time (sympathetic fight/flight vs. parasympathetic rest/digest) and how to switch drivers on purpose. Fictional vs. non-fictional fear (sometimes called “dirty vs. clean” in the literature): how to stop feeding rumination and respond to real-time signals. The two big “buckets” behind most fictional fears: “I'm not enough” and “I'm losing control.” How labeling one calms the spiral. Try-it-now tools (step-by-step) Pinch the Valley (vagus nerve reset) Make an “L” with one hand (thumb + index). With the other hand's thumb and index, massage the firm, meaty point where the thumb and index finger bones meet (below the web). 30–60 seconds per hand while breathing slowly. Expect a subtle down-shift in agitation; repeat as needed. Near & Far (convergence reset) Hold a finger or pen at arm's length; softly focus on it. Slowly bring it toward the bridge of your nose until it blurs/doubles, then return to arm's length. Repeat 5–8 times to help re-engage focus and cue parasympathetic tone. RAIN (micro-walkthrough) Recognize: Name the body cues (tight jaw, racing heart). Assign: “This is fear arousal.” (Not anger, not shame—fear.) Identify: Is this fictional (story/rumination) or non-fictional (real cue)? If fictional, which bucket: not enough or loss of control? Navigate: Pick one action (boundary, breath, call a friend, make the ask). Notable quotes “We spend so much time pretending fear doesn't exist—and that just drives it underground.” —Dr. Mary “When the amygdala is lit, the prefrontal cortex goes dim. Get your body safe first; the smart ideas return second.” “Healthy distractions—work, fitness, staying busy—can still be avoidance.” “Label it: fictional or non-fictional. Then choose a move.” —Dr. Mary “What we feed grows. Let's feed courage with small, repeatable actions.” Who this episode is for Anyone navigating betrayal who feels stuck between fear and next steps. Practitioners and leaders who need simple, teachable fear tools. High-performers who think their feelings and want body-based resets. Resources & guest links Dr. Mary Poffenroth — official site (book, speaking, downloads). Mary Poffenroth Brave New You (book) — science-backed strategies, tools, and neurohacks to live more courageously. RAIN Method & Neurohacking Downloads (infographic + mini-deck). Mary Poffenroth Resources Post Betrayal Syndrome Quiz: Learn if you have been impacted by a past betrayal. For the betrayed – Reclaim: Heal from your betrayal and take your life back. If this helped, share it with someone who's rebuilding after betrayal. Try one tool today (20–60 seconds), then repeat tomorrow. Small reps build big courage.

Caffeine's flowing, sarcasm's loaded, and we're diving headfirst into Fall — my second favorite F-word. Talking Halloween chaos, calling out bathroom bandits at the gym (yeah, that crime scene I saw this morning), and setting the record straight — ladies, you're not immune. I worked in bars for years... y'all can turn a restroom into a full-blown disaster movie faster than a drunk guy chasing karaoke glory. So buckle up, Be Raw Nation — it's another unfiltered ride through the madness. No notes, no mercy, just earned perspective and way too much honesty for a Wednesday.

Charisma Quotient: Build Confidence, Make Connections and Find Love
Have you ever looked back at a breakup and wondered: Did I really miss those red flags, or was I ignoring what I didn't want to see? Do your relationships seem to fall into similar patterns—leaving you with the same heartbreak, just with a new face? In Episode 407 of The Charisma Quotient, “The 6 Dirty “F” words and Identifying Red Flags in Relationships: Interview with Sarah Intelligator ” Kimmy sits down with acclaimed family law attorney and author Sarah Intelligator, who brings not just her legal expertise, but hard-won personal insight from her own journey through divorce and self-growth. Kimmy opens the episode by exploring the concept of red flags, explaining that most of us don't actually “miss” them—we simply learn to explain them away. As Sarah joins the conversation, she shares her own origin story, blending her professional work watching relationships crumble in and out of the courtroom with candid stories from her personal life—including marrying young and later working through her own divorce. Recognizing the emotional and financial devastation of separation, she felt inspired to help others avoid ending up in her office in the first place, leading her to author her book, "Live Laugh, Find True Love." The heart of the episode focuses on the “Dirty F Words” Sarah has identified as the most common fail factors she sees repeatedly in relationships heading for divorce. Together, Kimmy and Sarah break down how these patterns show up during the dating process and later in long-term relationships. They highlight the importance of truly knowing your own values, understanding how fear can keep you in the wrong relationships, and why having a solid foundation—built on respect, trust, communication, and teamwork—is essential for lasting partnership. You'll hear: The six “Dirty F Words” (a.k.a. fail factors) that show up in almost every relationship that ends in divorce—and how to notice them before it's too late The #1 mistake daters make: confusing chemistry for compatibility, and what fundamental values really mean How fear—of being alone, of change, of not being lovable—keeps you stuck, PLUS actionable steps to reclaim your confidence and decision-making Why trying to FIX your partner never works, and what actually does build healthy, lasting love If you're ready to stop blaming “bad luck” and instead take empowered, loving responsibility for your choices and your future relationships, hop on a private call with Kimmy to help you come up with ways to do that. Dive into the refreshing world of midlife fiction with bestselling UK novelist Jane Costello as she reveals the creative journey behind her latest romantic comedy, "It's Getting Hot in Here." With candor and humor, Jane shares how she's boldly reimagining the rom-com genre with a 47-year-old protagonist navigating perimenopause, teenage children, and unexpected romantic stirrings. After selling over a million copies of her debut novel and publishing 15 books across two decades, Jane offers a fascinating glimpse into her evolution as a writer. Her story begins not with childhood dreams of authorship, but during maternity leave with her first child, when she carved out precious writing time during nap sessions. For anyone who's ever doubted their creative potential, Jane's journey from uncertainty to international success proves that persistence transforms possibility into reality.Whether you're an aspiring writer seeking practical advice or a reader hungry for stories that reflect the richness of midlife experiences, this conversation delivers wisdom and warmth in equal measure. Jane demystifies the writing process with refreshing honesty, sometimes describing it as "like knitting with spaghetti," while celebrating how her latest book flowed with unexpected joy. Her advice to writers—begin with a compelling idea, create a rough plot outline, and treat writing as a marathon rather than a sprint—cuts through creative intimidation with practical clarity. And her message to her younger self? "Relax more and worry less. Things are going to work out okay." Michele Cuffe's powerful insights on extending not just lifespan but healthspan will transform how you think about aging. Drawing from evolutionary biology and modern research, she reveals why Europeans can indulge in bread and wine without weight gain while Americans struggle despite "healthy" habits - it's not just what we eat, but how we live.Stress represents the silent epidemic undermining American health, with most of us trapped in a chronic stress response for eight hours daily when it was designed to last mere seconds. Michele shares accessible techniques to break this cycle through simple daily practices requiring just 20 minutes. The conversation tackles sleep quality with alarming statistics - insufficient sleep increases accident risk by 70% and cancer risk by 69% while potentially shortening lifespan by nearly five years. When it comes to nutrition, Michele cuts through fad diet confusion with refreshing clarity: "We were given two categories on this planet - plants and animals." Her practical grocery shopping guidance emphasizes perimeter shopping for organic vegetables and high-quality proteins while explaining why some seemingly healthy options like farm-raised salmon should be avoided entirely. For women over 50, she emphasizes the critical importance of strength training over endless cardio for hormonal balance and longevity. Most movingly, Michele shares her personal journey from stay-at-home mom to fitness instructor to author, proving it's never too late to discover new passions and silence the inner critic. Whether you're just beginning your health journey or looking to optimize your wellness practices, this conversation delivers actionable wisdom for creating a vibrant, energetic life that could extend to 100 years and beyond. Don't miss Michele's practical tips for approaching fitness without intimidation - your future self will thank you.Connect with Michele and purchase her book here:Ready to FEARLESSLY FACE all the F WORDS – be inspired and encouraged? Sharon Macey's journey from stay-at-home mom to podcast host and competitive dancer offers a refreshing roadmap for life's second act. The question that guided her wasn't "What do I want to do when I grow up?" but rather "What do I want to do when my kids grow up?"—a subtle distinction that resonates deeply with women navigating the transition from active motherhood to their next chapter. What makes Sharon's approach so accessible is her emphasis on baby steps. "The beauty of taking a baby step is that if it doesn't work, we can pivot," she explains, giving women permission to experiment without the pressure of getting it perfectly right the first time. Her own return to dance after many years away led her to Latin ballroom competitions, complete with spray tans and elaborate costumes—a testament to the joy that comes from reconnecting with forgotten passions. The conversation explores how friendships evolve, family dynamics shift, and faith deepens as we age. Sharon challenges the notion that making friends gets harder with age, noting how her social circle has expanded in her sixties. Both women discuss the intentionality required to maintain connections with adult children while embracing this new phase of life. Most powerfully, Sharon reminds listeners that reinvention is deeply personal: "You do you, and no one does you better than you." Whether that means launching a podcast, playing pickleball, or simply focusing on wellness, the path forward should reflect your unique desires, not external expectations.Ready to take your own baby step toward reinvention? Listen now and discover how the wisdom, resilience, and experience you've gained become your greatest assets in creating life's most meaningful chapters. What will you become when your children grow up?Connect with Sharon and take a listen to her MOM to more podcast here:Ready to FEARLESSLY FACE all the F WORDS – be inspired and encouraged?
