The international break is over and real football returns on Saturday as Luton Town head to the capital to take on Millwall at The New Den. To preview the match, Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and Luton professional boxer Linus Udofia, who will be fighting for the English middleweight title on Saturday.. The boys begin by reflecting on the international break and the talking points from Kenilworth Road over the course of the week, including the flag row with The FA, before looking ahead to the match with The Lions. The lads then reflect on what we can expect from Millwall and where the dangers might lie before the attention turns to who could line up for the Hatters in the contest. Is this the day we see Marvelous Nakamba starting a league match? Will Tom Krauss start straight away? Could there even be a surprise name in the squad for the game? As always the football chat ends with the score predictions. Can any of the lads correctly predict the score for the first time this season!? Once the football talk is done the attention turns to the boxing ring where Linus fights for the English middleweight title at York Hall on Saturday night. He gives us some info on his fight with Dan Catlin including his preparations and what we can expect. There is a chat about the Luton boxing scene and a shout for Kenilworth Road or Power Court showdown! The Office of Management and Budget strongly disagrees with that estimate, questioning the plausibility of GAO's assessment. Senegalese surfers raise doubts about the future of surfing in Africa amidst no qualifiers for the Paris Olympics 2024, low funding, and out-of-reach visas. Instead of training in the waves of his Senegal homeland, Chérif Fall wistfully preferred to be in Puerto Rico, where the last surfing qualifying competition for the Paris Olympics ended on March 2. Senegal had nobody there to try and claim the last 14 spots for men and women. Senegal is on the westernmost tip of Africa on the Atlantic Ocean, and surfing is part of daily life for many, with easy access to good waves including in the capital, Dakar. Yet, once athletes reach a certain level, it's hard to go further. Travel to compete abroad is expensive, visas can be hard to secure, and there is little government investment, say those in the sport. Even with financial backing from a huge sponsor, 27-year-old Fall still can't afford proper coaching and doesn't enter enough competitions to earn points to help his global ranking. Surfers and coaches in Senegal say the athletes have immense potential but the sport needs more investment in training facilities, equipment, and coaching. To compete on the world stage, the surfers say they need the basics such as a daily training environment with a knowledgeable coach and quality equipment. Souley Mbengué, the Secretary-General of the Senegalese Surf Federation, said they were going to “rise to the challenges of 2026, the Youth Olympic Games to be held in Senegal. [...] We have put in place a program based on training, and above all what will enable us to perform well when the time comes.” In an attempt to get surfers on the continent more visibility, for the first time, the African Surfing Federation is launching a surf tour. Starting in April, there will be six competitions beginning in Ghana and ending in Senegal in December. Oumar Seye, the African Surfing Federation President who's spearheading the initiative, says it's a chance for athletes to make money, find sponsors, and get valuable ranking points. He adds sponsors in Europe and Africa have expressed interest in funding the event. This article was provided by The Associated Press.

A new year means new goals. But what if we've neglected to create goals in an area God is deeply invested in?In this message, Pastor Andy Williamson teaches us that having goals for ourselves in the new year is a good thing. But while most of our goals fall into personal, physical, and spiritual categories, there's one more category we need to add: Kingdom goals!Kingdom goals are spiritual goals ON THE MOVE. They are putting faith in action in such a way as to impact our community and those around us.So in this new year, let's set goals for ourselves… And also for the Kingdom!

While for many the holidays are a time filled with joy and family, for some, it can be the darkest, hardest, or loneliest time of the year. In this special episode of From Survivor to Thriver, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Ashley Ferris who is a beacon in the dark to anyone struggling with their mental health, especially this time of year.In 2021, Ashley reached her lowest point and was planning to take her own life after her shift as a police officer. During that shift, Ashley experienced a life-changing incident. Ashley nearly died that day, but thanks to the quick action of her fellow officers and the kindness and compassion she experienced following it, she found a new purpose in her life and a will to live. She is now passionate about helping others understand that no matter how dark it is, something amazing could be around the corner. You always have something to live for and you are worthy of any help you might need. Ashley Ferris was a law enforcement officer with the Lakewood Police Department in Lakewood, Colorado from January of 2018 to June of 2023. Prior to that, Ashley was an All-Source Intelligence Analyst with the United States Army and a project manager for a Denver area developer. During her tenure as an officer, Ashley was appointed to several leadership, mentoring, and instructing positions. Some of those positions included Field Training Officer, Crisis Intervention Coach, Public Information Officer, CPR and Tactical Medical Care Instructor, amongst others. In addition to her role at UT as a Training Specialist and her current graduate program studies, Ashley travels around the country to share her experience and lessons learned following her critical incident. Ashley lives and loves to serve the community, her organization, and her friends and peers. In today's episode, we cover: The mental health crisis Ashley was in and the incident at work that changed everythingHow you can always get help, no matter how bleak your options seemHow Ashley found a purpose to live forWhy the holidays are so challenging for so many peopleAshley's passion for crisis interventionThe signs that someone might be struggling with suicidal ideationsThe unique mental health challenges that first responders faceWhy cops continue to put everyone else first even when they need help The life-saving power of being vulnerableWhy first responders have to feel safe to get help in order for anything to changeWe hope you enjoyed our conversation with Ashley! Dan grew up in a small rural town in Virginia. He was active in school and extracurricular activities, but his risk taking was limited. That changed when he entered West Point. Dan was challenged while at West Point, he was forced into uncomfortable situations with injuries, academics, and boxing. As many of our listeners know, the Departments of Veterans Affairs and Defense (VA/DoD) Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and acute stress disorder (ASD) was released in June of 2023. The CPG, designed to assist clinical decision-making, provides recommendations that, in essence, give a clinician a fighting chance of identifying treatments that the research suggests should help their clients. But for many busy providers, it is a lot to unpack and digest! Join us as our (fearless) Director, Dr. David Riggs, who served on the CPG workgroup, walks us through important aspects of the guideline. We'll discuss the why behind first and second-line treatments, updates from the last CPG, and actionable intel to support you in treating trauma. Mr. Lucky might sound like a funny title for a conversation with Gabe Wing, but you'll soon see why it's the perfect title.MillerKnoll says Gabe has fundamentally reimagined the way their products are designed. And even though Gabe does this work day in and day out, I still get the impression he's pinching himself from his rough start in chemical engineering (....seriously, he hated it), to stepping into Miller's sustainable legacy. You can feel the love this man has for what he does and who he does it with. What's luckier than that?Meet the 2022 Impact IconsFollow along with Impact Icons on Instagram and LinkedInImpact Icons is an Imagine a Place Production, presented by OFS, Mortarr, and Ecomedes, Inc.
A fighting chance might be a tenet of Aaron VanderGalien and Deksia, but it's also one of his core values. A serial entrepreneur himself, Aaron's passion for growing other entrepreneurs and his love for his community led to his Impact Icons award. When you put resources into people, into buildings, into your values, it's amazing the impact you'll have on the world. Also, a huge shout out to Aaron's mom for being okay with their garage being for paying customers only...I wonder if she knew then what would happen.Meet the 2022 Impact IconsFollow along with Impact Icons on Instagram and LinkedInImpact Icons is an Imagine a Place Production, presented by OFS, Mortarr, and Ecomedes, Inc.

For many practicing doctors today, advancements in science currently unfolding seemed futuristic during their years of training. Fetal care and in utero surgery are at the forefront of these advancements. Specifically, over the last 50 years, growth of maternal-fetal medicine and the importance of fetal care centers have grown exponentially. Medical evolutions have paved the way for specialists to treat an unborn child as a separate patient, offering life-saving care before birth. Our team at Children's Hospital Colorado has performed more than 1,600 surgeries, making us one of the most experienced fetal centers in the country. That's why this week we are thrilled to welcome Sarkis (Chris) Derderian, MD, as our guest on Charting Pediatrics. As an expert in this field, he is currently an assistant professor of surgery and a pediatric surgeon at Children's Colorado, but his passion for fetal care began during his medical school years. “It was actually trauma that looped me into pediatric surgery and that I remember a 3-month-old baby that was in a car accident, terribly sick at the time, but at the time I left that rotation that baby was up moving around and it was just really a reflection of how resilient this population is,” Dr. Derderian says. Throughout this episode we dive into what fetal surgery currently looks like and how its progression gives as a look inside what the next 50 years could look like. “I think it's going to be revolutionary what we can do,” Dr. Derderian says. It's a space that's pushing the envelope to provide a new quality of life. Some highlights of today's episode include: · Conditions being intervened by fetal surgery · Diagnosing disease processes early in gestation · How concepts like animation help make information digestible for families · The future potential of fetal surgery For more information on Children's Hospital Colorado, visit: childrenscolorado.org
