THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE: Today's Fireside is leaning transition and change. How can we embrace the path before us even when it hasn't looked like what we thought it might? What is available when we continue to trust and believe that what's possible is not lost, but it's still on the way? I also did a card pull today. We've got three different cards from three different decks coming into play today.1. First Card (card imagery - a tree reflected by itself): Spring Equinox (10:54min)What is hiding in plain sight? Notice your patterns and imagery around you to find things you haven't noticed. This is a rebirth of YOUR world - yes, it's been hard, but you're ready to come into what's next What is more painful... to cling to what was or to make space for what you're birthing now? 2. Second Card (card imagery - a glorified vulva shape with sophia halo): Rita of Casica (18:29min) Prayer and possibility are the invitation in this card Keep believing in what you want. Don't give up. "The path to what we desire is in our belief that it is still possible."3. Third Card (card imagery - man holding a spear): Warrior (29:55min) You are primal love and held by primal love, stand strong in your convictionsKnow that if you're feeling stretchy around holding you boundaries or shifting the dynamics of a relationship that you are supported... stand your ground 2026 PLAYLIST: Each week of 2026, I'm selecting a song that resonates with the message of that particular Fireside Friday. Ever feel like you and your partner are speaking totally different languages when it comes to sex? One of you wants spontaneity, the other needs to feel emotionally close first. One of you craves novelty, the other finds comfort in what already works. Here's the thing: it's probably not about compatibility. It's about your sex personality types. In this episode, we walk you through all five types, what drives each one, the superpowers they bring to a relationship, the shadows that can quietly cause friction, and how knowing your type (and your partner's) can completely change the way you understand each other.
Get in, Loser! We're making Lightsabers! Brothers in Arms begins with the people's elbow, can you see my knee? Does in fact wearing shorts, can ya tell? "Art thou feeling it now, Mr. Crabs?" GREETINGS! You're going to have to suffer like us, a conflict of interest? No Nepo babies… he puts the lime in the coconut, making home-made Firestarter with lemons, called me piqued, Al Borland - now you'll never forget, a single seet-com, well when the shoe fits, packing and cleaning, I'm almost sad for you… almost, putting up Ernest saves Christmas money, the buyer - me, ominus dominus, drills - they killed a guy… figuratively, sounds like somebody's fluffing, don't pull that string, Officers beating Cadets on the court, Greg went to Disneyland, It's YOUR birthday - but I'M making a lightsaber, Cananada, it's glossy, the official sound is 'thwip,' do you even get off?, he went from a lot to sum, No Dissin' Terry, and a solitary Dad joke about hands, ducks, and horses. A chairlift bike park in the Ozarks sounds like a wild idea until you hear how Oz Trails Bike Park was actually built: carefully, deliberately, and for everyone. We're joined by Brandon Kelly, director of Bella Vista, and Gary Vernon, who runs the bike park day to day, to share the story behind the park's long path from rumor to ribbon cutting, with the grand opening set for June 12.We get practical about what a day looks like at the park, from rolling into the base area to loading your bike on the lift, cruising to the top, and choosing trails by skill level. Gary explains how they focused on families and first-timers without watering down the experience for serious riders, including a standout beginner trail called Firestarter that's designed to build confidence fast. We also talk about what makes this a true destination beyond riding: the Oz Trails HQ building, Ozzy's Ride and Dine restaurant, and a full setup for bike rentals, retail, and bike school, so you can arrive with almost nothing and still have a great day.Not a rider? You're still invited. We dig into lift rides for sightseeing, ADA accessibility, patio views of the action, and the way the park preserves the natural beauty of Bella Vista's old-growth forest, limestone bluffs, and deep ravines. We also touch on the Whistler connection through Gravity Logic, why the trails will keep evolving, and how Bella Vista vacation rentals plus Bentonville's downtown make trip planning easy across both towns. If you're curious about Northwest Arkansas mountain biking, family-friendly bike parks, or the next big outdoor attraction in Bella Vista, hit play, then subscribe, share this with a riding buddy, and leave a review so more people can find the show! A New American Town is here to help you plan your trip to Bentonville, Arkansas. From guides, events, and restaurant highlights. THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE: Today's Fireside is leaning into solitude. We are living inside a loud world, but also inside a time when there is much change and fragmentation. It's important to cultivate an inward soul space that you can dwell in when things are feeling too intense or a little too loud. Every time you take these moments to really connect in with that space, you are going to feel more connected to yourself and your soul... that will give you the presence, the peace and the partnership that you're craving. 2026 PLAYLIST: Each week of 2026, I'm selecting a song that resonates with the message of that particular Fireside Friday. This Week in Horror History for May 11–17 brings together a loaded week of horror movie anniversaries, Stephen King adaptations, Universal Monsters, zombie outbreak horror, slasher sequels, kaiju blockbusters, and modern home-invasion terror.Inside this episode:• May 11, 1936 — Dracula's DaughterUniversal Horror gets one of its strangest and saddest vampire follow-ups, turning Dracula's legacy into a chilly story of blood, inheritance, repression, and the desperate hope that evil might be cured.Where to watch (U.S., this week): Rent/buy on Amazon Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home.• May 11, 2007 — 28 Weeks LaterThe Rage virus returns with soldiers, checkpoints, quarantine zones, and the terrifying idea that the people in charge may declare the nightmare over long before the nightmare agrees.Where to watch (U.S., this week): Rent/buy on Amazon Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home.• May 13, 1988 — Friday the 13th Part VII: The New BloodJason Voorhees rises again on an actual Friday the 13th, this time facing a telekinetic final girl in the cult-favorite slasher sequel fans often describe as Jason versus Carrie at Crystal Lake.Where to watch (U.S., this week): Paramount+ with subscription; rent/buy on Amazon Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home.• May 16, 2014 — GodzillaThe MonsterVerse begins as Gareth Edwards brings Godzilla back to American theaters with disaster-movie scale, radioactive awe, and the reminder that humanity is not always the main character of the planet.Where to watch (U.S., this week): Rent/buy on Amazon Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. Then, in this week's Deep-Cut Spotlight, we go to May 11, 1984 — Firestarter, the Stephen King adaptation about a little girl, a secret government experiment, and the terrifying question of what happens when the weapon you built learns to hate you. Drew Barrymore stars as Charlie McGee, a child whose fear and trauma can ignite into actual flame, making Firestarter one of King's most haunting stories of power, control, and childhood weaponized by adults.Plus: a birthday roll featuring Robert Pattinson, David Boreanaz, Megan Fox, and Bill Paxton, a Then & Now Bite about horror's power to mutate across generations, and a Weekly Recommendation for The Strangers: Chapter 1, a modern masked-intruder nightmare that proves some old fears never stop knocking. From Dracula's Daughter to Firestarter, from 28 Weeks Later to Friday the 13th Part VII, from Godzilla to The Strangers, this week is packed with horror history that refuses to stay buried.
THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE: Today's Fireside is leaning into Beltane! A Celtic festival that celebrates fertility, abundance, the fire of life and community. It's marked at the half way point between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. Some of you are being invited to notice where life is blooming around you to ground you and bring you hope. Some of you are ready to bloom something new or introduce something to the world ... it's time! Let your courage be a beacon for all of us as you step across this threshold. We also lit a candle together today to honor the Irish tradition of taking a flame home to the hearth from the community pyre that sits at the epicenter of Beltane... it's time to bloom baby, bloom! To learn more about Beltane, this is the podcast I listened to that's a great one to check out. 2026 PLAYLIST: Each week of 2026, I'm selecting a song that resonates with the message of that particular Fireside Friday. THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE: Today's Fireside is asking you to first find your center, to be in deep witness to yourself and your heart. What is asking to be felt or acknowledged? There's also a piece of looking and leaning into your life as a living altar; what are you placing on it? What need to be removed? Each and every day you are living in deliberate action or reaction... where is it time to be more intentional? Where also can you find the magic of BEING in process and slowing down to allow that deliberate attention and focus to fall on YOU? QUOTES FROM THE EPISODE"Sometimes, my heart is so openI can't tell if it is a gaping woundOr a portal for everything that ever was and ever will be. I've learned to Love the beautiful terror of eternity,And scenario planning for how shattered I could beIf the dark things got tallAnd if I fell back backwards and my forgetting of the light. But you can't fall backwards in space, You can only only only ever unfurl. More than anything,I've wed the certainty that nothing changes without me —Not coal becoming diamondsNot fertilizing eggsOr migration patternsOr medicine dreams. And what I thought was Annette cast to me from a higher GodIs actually strands of truth and filaments of desireThat I have tied together with my own two hands. And in precious encounters, I tie what I know and want to you,So we can ride the winds of wonder. " - Danielle Laporte, "White Hot Truth" "In a state of flow, the activity in the frontal lobe is reduced, it is almost shut down — and it is in the frontal lobe the abilit for abstract thinking is situated, the planning for the future and the sense of self. Everything that makes us human, in other words, and that makes perfect sense: You lost yourself and sink into a state of pure being, linke an animal— belonging to the world, not to yourself." - Karl Ove Knausgaard 2026 PLAYLIST: Each week of 2026, I'm selecting a song that resonates with the message of that particular Fireside Friday. In the early hours of December 4, 1979, something jolted Edith Hastie awake—and within seconds, her worst fears were confirmed. Fire was already inside her home on Selby Street in Kingston upon Hull, climbing fast, swallowing the staircase, cutting off escape. Her four young sons were still inside. What followed was a frantic, desperate race against heat and smoke, one that would end in unimaginable loss, an act of quiet heroism, and questions that would linger long after the flames were extinguished. Three boys would be pulled from the wreckage with catastrophic burns. But this wasn't just a tragic house fire. It was something far more disturbing.Because as investigators began to piece together what happened that night, a chilling pattern would emerge, one that pointed not to an accident, but to a firestarter hiding in plain sight. THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE: Today's Fireside is asking you to bring your "weird" full, authentic self to the table... that is the healing that you're here to bring. BEING YOURSELF. The origin of the word 'weird' actually is 'wyrd' and meant destiny. I shared two stories today of powerful women following their weird and changing the landscape of the industries that they touched. "There were a lot of people arguing Wilt. You know what happened Dan? They died." Dan has finally done it: he has proclaimed that Nikola Jokic is a better offensive player than Michael Jordan. Too bad nobody cares, because the only discourse surrounding the NBA right now is about tanking and the 65-game rule, which is driving Zaslow insane. "Oh, excuse me for breathing." An alarm that we refuse to listen to is going off at The Elser, so we use it to our advantage and try to get a new "Fire Starter" take segment off the ground. THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE: Today's Fireside is asking us to take a moment. To breathe into the space that we might be resisting or simply aren't certain what to do with. Perhaps life is just feeling full and busy... but what kind of energy are you able to sustain if you don't take this moment? Give yourself permission to take a breath, to pause to ask what you're craving... and then follow that impulse. THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE: Today's Fireside is asking us to lean into the power that we crave to bring, remembering that our voices are the voices of change and revolution. There will be many who don't understand us, but there will be MANY who do. Every time that we speak our truth and bring our medicine into the world in the ways that we crave to do, we are creating the world we want to live inside of. We are modeling and giving examples of courage, strength and leadership EVERY time we speak our intentional truth. You are meant to bring the things on your heart in just the way that you crave to bring them... so give yourself some time and space to really lean in and ask: "What do I really want to say in this moment?" And then let 'er rip!!! We need your voice. We need the change you want to bring. BRING. THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE: Today's Fireside is reminding us that hope is a verb! Yes, it's about taking action, but it's also something that we are asked to cultivate within. If we are going to bring great change, we must remember that the change we bring is different than how leadership was modeled before. In a patriarchal society, we focus on hierarchy. In matriarchal society, we focus on the community. We lead in circle, TOGETHER. Remember that your hope is meant for you, but it's also the thing that sustains and energizes the work that you're bringing in the communities that you live and work inside of. Your leadership isn't about a title... it's about your participation. I also did a three card pull for us today as the energy of our collective feels like we're running quite the gambit, from feeling like we're in the valley, perhaps waiting in the middle or we're on the mountain ready to share what we've been working on! Rose Card Reading (begins at 21min): Share your light! We need your joy, passion and what you're creating. It's going to spark and fuel you, but it's also a beacon to others who are feeling like they're in the valley AND it's going to call in partners who may want to join or collaborate with you to bring your vision forward. Yarn Ball Reading (begins at 26min ): It's time for you to focus on the mystical wisdom you're here to bring. Focus on where you're headed and who your medicine is meant for. Following your instincts will also lead you into regular commitment and discipline to ushering in what you're here to bring forward. Rose Bud Reading (begins at: 35:40min): You're being asked to stay right where you are. You're being attuned and guided to wait at this time. This waiting is FOR YOU. Let your guides remind you of your strength. Be in this moment as it will fuel the momentum you're craving in the long run. 2026 PLAYLIST: Each week of 2026, I'm selecting a song that resonates with the message of that particular Fireside Friday. Jared Leto was the reigning Joker. Todd Phillips couldn't get the films he wanted to do off the ground. The DC range of movies was having a whole range of challenges for Warner Bros. And constant changes at the studio were leading to regular challenges of direction. In the midst of this, a relatively slim production, Joker, would have notable ramifications. Similarly slim, Cat's Eye marks the first credited screenplay for a man called Stephen King. But this too had challenges, when the original financing plan fell apart. And then, another film - Firestarter - had a bit of a knock-on effect... Stories of both are told in this episode. Please like/subscribe/leave nice reviews. Thank you! THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE: Today's Fireside is shifting from the belief that we're rebelling against a system to understanding we're actually ushering in a revolution! Both words carry great impact, but to rebel feels forbidden/hidden and perhaps even impossible, whereas I feel that a revolution feels expansive/possible and far-reaching. If you're here listening to these messages you are here to be part of the revolution that is taking place, it does mean some rebelling against old ways of believing... but it also feeds us and sustains us to remember that the changes that are pressing up against our soul are here to usher in this new way of BEING before doing. Don't just do something... sit there
This week, Kyra sits down with Dr. Rita Renee, TEDx Speaker, international keynote speaker, leadership development coach, and self-described Firestarter, for a bold and energizing conversation about stepping into leadership with confidence and clarity. Dr. Rita shares what it means to ignite your inner fire and why so many women hold themselves back from leadership roles even when they are fully capable. Together, they explore purpose, resilience, authenticity, and the mindset shifts required to lead with both strategy and heart. Dr. Rita offers practical encouragement for women who are ready to move beyond hesitation and embrace their influence. In this episode: ✨ What it means to be known as the Firestarter ✨ The common fears that keep women from leadership ✨ Why confidence and purpose are foundational ✨ Turning challenges into fuel for growth ✨ Leading authentically in environments that may not always be supportive For the woman who believes leadership is for someone else, this conversation offers a powerful reminder that the spark is already within her. THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE: Today's Fireside is acknowledging some of the big grief and feelings that we're holding as we are confronted with what our souls knew, but our bodies needed more proof of. THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE: Today's Fireside is about being honest... how are you feeling? It's okay if you're feeling uncertain, scared, or just wondering what the heck is going to happen. You don't have to be strong, you can allow yourself to feel it all. Making room for what's transpiring within you IS how you lead. Transforming and transmuting energy is how we keep from transferring that energy. Another important message for today came from some indigenous wisdom that I saw shared via Facebook where we're reminded that this time that we're walking through is something that we chose and we get to choose now whether we'll let this be a portal we walk through or a hole we fall into, the choice is ours! 2026 PLAYLIST: Each week of 2026, I'm selecting a song that resonates with the message of that particular Fireside Friday.
