Guadalupe Nettel​ (Ciudad de México, 27 de mayo de 1973) es una escritora mexicana, ganadora del premio de Narrativa Breve Ribera del Duero con el libro de cuentos El matrimonio de los peces rojos (2013) y del Premio Herralde de novela con Después del invierno (2014). Su obra ha sido traducida a 17 lenguas.​ Obtuvo un doctorado en Ciencias de Lenguaje en la EHESS de París. Ha colaborado en revistas y publicaciones como Granta, The White Review, El País, The New York Times en Español, La Repubblica y La Stampa, entre otras. Fue directora de la Revista de la Universidad de México de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) entre 2017 y 2024.

Eric Newman and Kate Wolf speak with writer Craig Seligman about his recent book, Who Does That Bitch Think She is? Doris Fish and The Rise of Drag. The book follows the story of the groundbreaking drag queen, performer, and artist Doris Fish, who was born in Australia in the early 1950s as Philip Mills. Seligman initially wrote about Fish in the 1980s after they met through his boyfriend in San Francisco. He builds on his past interviews to recount Fish's life, from her early days in Sydney when she was a member of the outre drag group Silvia and the Synthetics, to her time living in San Francisco, where she moved in the late 1970s. She formed the group Sluts A-Go-Go there, and went on to become one of the city's most celebrated performers, writing and starring in the cult film Vegas in Space, and staging increasingly avant-garde and political performances until her death from AIDS in 1991. In addition to Fish's story, Seligman looks at larger attitudes toward drag, both within the queer community and outside of it, elucidating the way drag has seeped into popular culture and why it still remains a radical act today. Acá va una breve colección de preguntas sin respuestas, quizás preguntas inútiles, de esas que nos hacemos cada tanto. ¿Cómo hacer para superar el dolor de perder a un ser amado? ¿De qué manera se clausura esa herida? ¿Acaso es necesario cerrarla? Quizás pensó en esas cosas la escritora mexicana Guadalupe Nettel cuando hizo esta carta dedicada a su papá. En algún artículo, dijo que era un hombre amoroso y divertido, alguien capaz de estallar en cólera y de serenarse a pocos minutos. Y que a él le debe todo el humor negro de sus libros. En alguna ocasión, su papá le prometió que, si había vida después de la muerte, se lo haría saber. Nettel le escribe esta carta a su papá luego de que sucedió lo inevitable. Quizás lo hizo como un intento de acercarse a él. Quizás para excorsizar el dolor. O, por ahí, como una forma de esperar esa señal prometida. Lee la actriz Liliana Paola. **** Querido papá: MUCHAS VECES me prometiste que, si había vida después de la muerte, encontrarías la manera de contármelo o al menos de darme una señal. Hay quienes creen que los muertos se comunican con nosotros a través de los sueños. Desde que no estás, he soñado contigo muy pocas veces. Dos para ser exacta, y en ambos casos volví a vivir tus exequias. La ausencia es tan brutal y tan enorme mi esfuerzo por comprenderla que ni siquiera me permito soñar que sigues vivo. En cambio despierto casi a diario, sobresaltada a mitad de la noche, con la conciencia de que no estás, de que jamás volveré a disfrutar de tu compañía, de que es algo irremediable y que más me vale asumirlo por completo. La soledad, a diferencia de otras veces en que la sentía lacerante y también un poco vergonzosa, se ha convertido para mí en un bálsamo necesario, en un espacio imprescindible, como la oscuridad para las personas que sufren de migrañas. Herencia no dejaste, pero sí una cartografía de valores que me han permitido orientarme: el placer de aprender y descubrir cosas nuevas, la gratitud, la generosidad y el humor como refugio hasta en las peores tragedias. No se me olvidará nunca cómo le espetaste al médico, mientras te mostraba el tumor letal en tu radiografía, que te encontrabas muy flaco en esa foto. Gracias a ti conocí el cariño incondicional, la certeza de que alguien me quiso siempre, sin importar cuáles fueran mis actos, y con eso no intento decir que hayas sido indulgente. Cuando te parecía que me estaba equivocando, jamás titubeaste al decírmelo. Te preocupaba que aprendiera a temperar mi carácter, a ser cuidadosa con el filo de mi lengua –asegurabas que somos dueños de las palabras que nunca pronunciamos y esclavos de las que ya hemos dicho–, a ser dócil en las cosas sin demasiada importancia e intransigente en las fundamentales. A lo largo de los años te vi trastabillar a menudo y descalabrarte más de una vez. Luego, invertiste todos tus recursos en suavizar tus reacciones, y tu vida se volvió mucho más llevadera. Con tu ejemplo, me enseñaste que los errores permiten descubrir la fuerza y la belleza propias y ajenas. Desde el primer día transcurrido sin ti, siento el acecho del olvido como una sustancia corrosiva que amenaza con deslavar nuestra historia. Su objetivo, nada despreciable, es impedirme sufrir. Sin embargo, como advertía Céline, “la peor derrota en todo es olvidar y es, también, lo que nos lleva a la tumba”. Yo he sufrido muchas derrotas a lo largo de mi vida de las cuales me ha costado reponerme. No encajaré ésta también. Aunque tampoco tengo la certeza de que puedas escucharme, te escribo con frecuencia. Hacerlo es ir en contra del proceso natural de cicatrización que todo el mundo me desea y me vaticina, pero que yo no persigo. Una cicatriz es un cierre, un límite, un borde de piel doble o triplemente espeso para clausurar una herida, para impedir que sigamos sangrando. Recordar sistemáticamente, en cambio, es mirar de cerca cada célula del tejido dañado, no perderlo de vista. No quiero una cicatriz que lleve tu nombre. El dolor me

Née au Mexique en 1973, Guadalupe Nettel a partagé sa vie entre Mexico, Barcelone et Paris. Elle est l'auteure de plusieurs livres de contes, recueils de nouvelles et de quatre romans. Lauréate de nombreux prix littéraires en France, en Espagne et au Mexique, son œuvre est traduite dans une dizaine de pays, et elle est aujourd'hui considérée comme l'une des romancières les plus lumineuses de la littérature latino-américaine.   "Les deux amies s'étaient fait un serment : jamais elles ne se laisseraient aller à être mères. Impossible d'imaginer renoncer à leur liberté pour un enfant. Et pourtant, un jour, Alina décide de tomber enceinte. Laura vacille, accablée à l'idée de voir son amie renoncer à leurs idéaux.
