Greetings fabulous!  Today we dive into the glittering world of personal branding with none other than the punk-rock-spirited CPA, Heather Zeitzwolfe. Between shared technical snafus involving the mysterious entity that is Zoom and confessing our collective affinity for AppSumo deals (they really should start sponsoring us at this point), we spent more time laughing than I ever have during an episode!  And yes, that image of us decked out in sequins and leather while balancing our checkbooks is 100% accurate - our personal brands are all about shining bright and rocking out, no matter what the ledger says. So pull up your favorite chair, slap on some of that old-school eyeliner if you're feelin' it, and get ready for an episode that juggles everything from our punk days listening to Social Distortion  to the taxing conundrums of being an Amazon Vine reviewer (who knew reviewing could be so, well, taxable?). Heather not only brought down the house with her tales of spicing up the CPA world with a dash of rebellion, but she also gave us a peek behind the velvet curtain of personal reinvention. Trust me, whether you're a rockstar at heart or a glitter enthusiast, finding your personal brand over fifty isn't just possible—it's a downright hoot. Let's crank up the volume and celebrate the fabulous, misfit anthems of our lives.   Thank you for joining us today! Happy Belated Independence Day, or as I like to say, "Happy Birthday to My Favorite Sibling Co-Host!"  Yes, that's right, our own Annie Pruitt was Born on the 4th of July and we still totally let her think that the fireworks are all for her!   We had a couple of weeks off, ish, while Annie was in Europe with her family, but we have a HUGE new list of amazing topics coming down the pike soon, AND I promise that Doug Ferguson and Heather Zeitzwolfe will be back as well.   So - this character actor thing...Annie and I both approached our research a little differently and found some "rules" on what qualifies as a character actor role.  A fairly standard definition, like this one from Studio Binder, states, "A character actor is a film or television performer who specializes in portraying unique, offbeat, colorful characters in supporting roles. The term can be applied to actors who excel in one specific type of character or those who transform themselves for each role and take on a wide range of character types."  However, I found myself trying desperately to stay within the lines of these particular rules, as stated on New York Magazine's VULTURE site: ➼ The Jenkins Rule: If a performer has been nominated for an Oscar, that performer is ineligible. ➼ The Dowd-Martindale Rule: If a performer has won a lead or supporting actor Emmy, that performer is ineligible. (Winners of an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor are permitted.) ➼ The Hahn Rule: If a performer currently works primarily as a lead, that performer is ineligible. Well, you will notice that Annie and I tried to yield to those "recommendations," and it's easier said than done, let me tell you.  Our list primarily consists of contemporary actors who are still with us, but I do pull one very classic actor out of the mix for my list.  and having said that, not only will we be bringing out a list of our Top Five Favorite Female Character Actors, but we'll be throwing out a few additional mixes because I'll be damned if we're going to have a character actor conversation which does not include Gary Oldman (come to think of it, he might even get his own show!).   Anyway - enjoy!!

This week, Heather and I are talking 80's Heartthrobs you might have seen on the cover of Tiger Beat during the 1980s.  Sure, a couple of them possibly carried over from the 70's just a tad, but for me and Heather they were all 80's boys.  Now we both made it to college in the later part of the 80's so you can be fairly sure there will not be a '90s edition of Heartthrobs. It IS pretty interesting what constituted a heartthrob crush for each of us - we have various different reasons and stories behind each of our obsessions and it's HIGHLY Gen X because this was the big age of renting VHS videos from the local video stores.  Heather even started her own Fanclub, but we'll let you listen to that story to learn the rest! There are more livecasts coming up as well, so make sure that you are following me on Instagram (@krismaspeak) and for sure send us an email at hello@thetopfivepofcast.com if you'd like to comment on our lists or pitch an idea for the show!

Welcome to the last installment of our Stepping Into Your Authenticity Series. As a companion piece, host Heather Zeitzwolfe decided to take on a self-imposed challenge to go LIVE on Instagram for 45 days in a row. The catalyst for this challenge was to break through her fears of going LIVE. More importantly, she wanted to set an example for those in the audience who have been reluctant to try it.After receiving words of encouragement and numerous questions, Heather decided to wrap up the series with a few highlights from her experience. This episode is a hybrid that blends excerpts from four LIVES. The first LIVE featured was from day 29 of going LIVE on Instagram. The topic was influencer marketing and fraudulent followers. This conversation was a reaction to the documentary Fake Famous on HBO. The following segments, which are included within the hybrid episode, contain three dynamic women. First up is, marketing expert Nedra Rezinas for day 23 of going LIVE to discuss the importance of doing things differently to stand out in a noisy market. In this clip they chat about the power of informational interviews, taking a break from social media, and Mike Michalowicz's book, Get Different. Next up is a business coach and speaking expert, Caterina Rando. She joins Heather on her 39th day of going LIVE. They explore how to increase clients through public speaking and engaging your audience through a sales fountain. The last segment features marketing and Clubhouse coach, Katie Brinkley. You can often find her moderating rooms on effectively using Clubhouse to grow your business. As an early adopter, she has witnessed the transformation of social audio. I think it's really important as women and business owners that we understand how our culture has conditioned us to have certain beliefs, expectations, habits, and behaviors that interfere with our ability to achieve our goals and be successful. Most of us don't even realize all the things that we are doing that fall into the category of people-pleasing and that they are killing our profits.  I'm willing to risk offending or annoying some of you because I think for those that are ready to hear the unvarnished truth and do something about it, you will be able to maximize your profits without even hiring me. We will cover a handful of obvious (and not so obvious) ways we leave money on the table,  limit our income, impose our own internal glass ceiling, and take a pay cut in our business.  We are going to dig into money mindset, imposter complex, avoiding the ask, pricing, discounts, bartering, raising your fees, and avoiding dealing with employees and contractors that are messing up your bottom line.  We also confront some of the more insidious (aka sneaky unconscious beliefs so many of us have, such as beliefs about money and greed, getting paid for our talents, and whether or not it's selfish to make money for something you enjoy doing,  Like all of my solo episodes, this one is a cross between a kick in the ass and a warm hug.  Hey, you don't need me to flatter you,  blow smoke up your skirt or polish your pinkies.  My specialty is being the Speaker of Uncomfortable Truths because I want you to succeed. Feeling restricted in her job by the time she arrived at midlife, Heather decided it was time for a change. At the time she did not consider herself a risk taker but the need for change was strong and so, armed with new ideas and a degree in accountancy, she set herself up as a CPA & Profitability Coach. Heather now works with women who want to change tack in midlife and move into business. She developed a shame-free approach to working with women as she has found that generally speaking, they are more inclined to be more hesitant to talk about money and have a tendency also to price too low for their services. Join us for an engaging discussion with this very vibrant and colourful lady! Biography Heather is a CPA and Profitability Coach who helps her clients take control of their finances. She's the host of the ‘Get the Balance Right' podcast. Heather has a strong passion for veganism, standing up for civil rights, and saving the environment. To discuss this, I am joined by John Davis, whose personal and professional life has all been about taking action. He's a Hollywood stuntman turned motivational speaker, known as the Corporate Action Hero and the host of the Inner Action Hero Podcast. Through pure determination and unrelenting action, which were fueled by the influence of Bruce Lee, he proved the doctors wrong. John Davis is living proof that you can achieve your maximum potential if you let go of self-imposed limitations. In this episode you will hear about John's personal journey and learn techniques you can use to break through your mental walls and start taking action.
