And perhaps it is because it is so much more possible to work for yourself with all that the internet can provide for you. Finding jobs is easier. All sorts of creative jobs are possible. But even so, there is still the mindset of settling for less than what you want or accepting dissatisfaction because of fear or apathy.Or confusion; just not knowing how to go about it.I would like to bring a little clarity about this topic:  How To Know When It Is Time To Switch Jobs.Today, I am speaking with attorney-turned-career coach, Jeremy Cline. He is the host of the podcast, Change Work Life, and he coaches clients on how to do just that. If you are feeling that it might be time for a change, this episode will help you identify the signs and give you the guidance to do it.Show Notes are at:howtolife.com/103Support the show

I am celebrating 100 episodes of helping you learn How To Adult! We are all on this adulting journey together, and I am not the only one with information to share.  In this episode, I want you to know that we are all striving, learning, overcoming, and achieving throughout our lives. Everyone is. You can never know it all. But we live in a time where it is so easy to learn, teach and share, and I think that because of that we have the potential to self-actualize faster than ever before. My whole platform is to make you feel okay about where you are right now and give you some information that might help you.So over the last few weeks, I have been asking you, the audience, a few questions about where you are on your adulting journeys. Four questions, actually. So in sharing them, I hope that you hear something that resonates with you. Or that you will realize that you are not the only one who is having some trouble at the moment. Or you might discover something that you didn't even consider or you learned something unexpected. And of course, I want you to recognize and celebrate when you have accomplished something that you were afraid of and be proud of yourself! #87 - Since it is a brand new year I am going to talk about goal setting today. Many see the new year as a blank slate. A time to set new goals and actually put some effort into making those goals a reality. And since motivation is usually at a high at this time of year, let's use that momentum to really make those resolutions stick.I have been making a Goals List every year for the last 7 years. Before I started doing it, I just accepted whatever.  It has been a good life, but at that time I didn't know I had a say in how things turned out or that it could be better. So when I decided to give this goal-setting a try, I was shocked at how possible my goals were. I was also shocked when I realized I hadn't been very deliberate about what I wanted in the past. It was like going to a restaurant and saying, “I would like some food please”. You'll just get a blank stare, or whatever. You have to say what you want. The good news is that it is just a formula and it is a mindset thing. And right now is a perfect time to start honing that mindset thing! So, I am going to teach you how to go about setting your goals list. You can use this technique for any timeframe. You can make a list of goals you want to accomplish this year, as I have done, or just one goal you want to achieve this month. You can make it as broad and general or as short and super-specific as you would like. The technique is the same. In order to reach your goals, follow this framework. It is an easy formula and you probably do most of the steps at some point, just not in an organized fashion. So let's get deliberate and focused. Here are 7 things that I do to reach my goals every year. Show notes can be found at:howtolife.com/087

#85 - Today we are talking about transforming education, and how Open Source Learning is an evolving philosophy in meeting the needs of learners in the 21st Century.I am speaking with Dr. David Preston, educator, consultant, and trailblazer in reforming education and changing the way students learn. The traditional way we are taught in school was thrown into turmoil when the pandemic hit. Trying to teach over the internet was a little chaotic at first, there was a little resistance, but most everyone adapted; teachers, students, administrators, parents. We all had to figure it out, and quickly at that. And, overall, it worked. This came as a surprise to many, but not to Dr. Preston. He has been using the public internet to engage and empower students since 2006.Dr. Preston calls it Open Source Learning and his years of success in teaching this way are starting to gain notice. The pandemic proved to many others that this is a viable option to traditional brick and mortar schooling, and may very well be the model for digital transformation in education. It is a fascinating concept and honestly a breath of fresh air when it comes to discussing education for the 21 century.Show notes and links can be found at:howtolife.com/085

Same with you friends.Picking a business partner is a bigger choice. You are investing in an important aspect of your life. A huge aspect of your life. And then the biggest decision is choosing your spouse. You are committing to this one person to be with and love with and build a life with. As beautiful as it is, it's tricky. There is a lot of give and take, ebb and flow, highs and lows.Working with a business partner can be hard enough, but when that business partner is also your spouse, how do you combine the two, protect each one, and make both aspects of those relationships work?Well, I have brought a success story on today. I am speaking with Finley and Brooke Robinson who have figured out how to succeed at both. They have been married for 20 years, have three kids, work together in Brooke's online fitness business and both are building Fin's relationships coaching business. Two vastly different individuals with two different business styles and personalities. He helps people be seen and heard by their audience. He is here today to explain how to communicate with empathy and why it is more important to GET IT RIGHT, rather than to BE RIGHT.When you communicate with empathy, you show your communication partner respect.Listen in as Dr. Gerharz tells you how to communicate with others respectfully, gracefully, and successfully.  Show notes can be found at:howtolife.com/081

It happens to all of us, no matter how old you are. It is part of life, it will come up now and then. But the only way to get past fear is to move through it. And having a plan, or a formula, really, is something that will be very helpful for you. The great thing about a formula is that it can be replicated over and over again and applied to all situations that scare you. When you see that you CAN overcome obstacles, and get to do or have or be those things that want, your confidence becomes more solid every time.I really want to convince you of this so I have brought on Wendy Pitts Reeves, a woman who has done so much in her life and has done so by overcoming things that scared her. She knows the joys and challenges of doing what scares you on your way to personal and professional success. But, I often think that it is entered into with a “happily ever after” mentality; that it will be automatically blissful forever. But like everything organic, it is a growing, morphing, changing entity just like the people who are in it. It changes because of those growing, morphing, changing people who are in it. So, in order to preserve it, you have to make it a priority. When you make it a priority and set the intention to keep it shiny while everything around it changes, you have lined yourself up for success. It is not hard to do, it is just a skill set that can be learned. We are not taught this because many don't about it themselves. It can be learned the hard way, through experience and hard knocks, but now, with the wonder of information at our fingertips, it is readily available for those who seek it. I am speaking with Eric Wooten, who is a couples counselor, and together with his wife Jill, is the founder of Altared Marriage which aims to help couples nurture their bond and thrive in their marriage. I hope this podcast comes at the right time for you. I have seen a lot of injuries, a lot of poor health, and a lot of amazing recoveries, as well.I was an elite athlete in my youth and am currently a high-level athlete now. I have personally experienced my fair share of injuries.I am, and always have been, a very healthy person.  I am very health-minded. I am pretty good at convincing others of their wellness. Because I am so sure of what I know, and I see others as well and whole already regardless of the state they are currently in, they sort of pick up on that when they are under my care, and the great majority of the time they get better. I don't heal anyone. I just help them calm down a bit and give them coaching on how to help themselves, and then I can facilitate the healing process. I am just a helper. And so right now, I would like to give you that same coaching and guidance to help you help yourself recover from whatever less-than-optimal health situation you may be facing now or in the future. Here are 8 steps you can take to align with wellness and start healing your body.Show notes can be found at:howtolife.com/072

#71 - There are so many paths to take in your life and many of you are on the college path. It is a great path to be on, but in order to make the most of it and really enjoy the journey, there are some deliberate steps that you can take to make a smooth transition from high school to college and into your career. There is a real need for a guided and orgainzied system that helps students make smart and informed decisions when it comes to the question, “what do I want to do with my life?”Like basic life skills, there has not been a lot of information and help to get you started, and through, the college process, but that is beginning to change. My guests today are Greg and Beth Langston.  For the last 20 years, Beth and Greg have empowered students to master their self-discovery, allowing them to successfully activate their life's purpose. They are successful professionals in their own right, successful parents, and successful entrepreneurs in the business they created together called the College Flight Plan.Very often college is extended to 5 or even 6 years or longer and it is largely due to switching majors and not knowing what you want to do. Many people go into college with the intention of figuring it out while there, but it is tremendously expensive to do it this way. Perhaps you don't know that at first because the money is there from your student loans, but that loan can become a ball and chain that follows you around long after you have left college if you don't have a definite plan in place. The College Flight Plan is a process that allows you to discover and identify things about yourself before you enter college so that you have a more direct and solid foundation from the start.  Start smart, start early, and finish on time! #70 - Although there are many practical things that must be learned and completed in adulthood, personal development and learning how to be your best self is an ongoing refinement that lays a foundation and sets the tone for how you approach everything in your world. We create habits in life. Everything we do, and how we are, is a habit. How we walk, our quirks, our posture, what we eat, vices, virtues. They become who we are because we practice these things over and over again. And one of the most destructive habits that virtually everyone carries to some degree is habitual, negative self-talk. Most people do not even realize that they are doing it. It ranges from seemingly harmless statements like, “Ugh, I'm so bad at math”  to really detrimental words of self-degradation.Perhaps this habit goes unnoticed because it's just words, or maybe you think you will be motivated to change by putting yourself down, or it is what you have heard your whole life so you believe this must be who you are.My guest today is Cheyne Towers. He is one of the creators of The Dialogue of Self-Liberation (TDSL). This is a simple yet powerful system to free yourself from the damaging effects of negative, habitual self-talk and leave it in the past. When you make the connection, that the stories you tell yourself and the thoughts you think about yourself, are at the core of blockages in your life, you can then begin to change your life in a positive and loving way.  Life begins to feel lighter, decisions become easier and you will naturally become kinder towards yourself and, therefore, others.TDSL is a life skill! I am so excited about this topic and I hope that after hearing this interview with Cheyne Towers you will be inspired to think and speak differently to the person that matters most: YOU.Show notes for this episode can be found at:howtolife.com/070

This is the parent who sort of commandeers the sport and it becomes more about the parent than the child. As a result, this lack of awareness can cause a rift in the parent-child relationship. But with a little direction and awareness, this can be avoided. The relationship can thrive and grow into a beautiful, strong bond.My guest today is Gustavo Netto who is a former D1 soccer player who has created Soccer 4 Parents. His goal is to help parents connect with their children in a positive and meaningful way through soccer, but the principles apply to all sports or anything that both parent and child can share. I love his approach to parenting from the male perspective. So far, I have featured the mother's perspective so I am happy to have the input and example that Gustavo gives. But regardless of gender, if you are a parent or a future parent, this show will help you have a great connection and relationship with your child.Show notes and links can be found at:howtolife.com/067

#52 - Introverts unite! Then retreat into a quiet room. Alone. I really like today’s topic. It is all about introverts!  We are going to talk about the special strengths that introverts often possess and how to use those strengths to your advantage both personally and in business, especially online. Online businesses offer a unique opportunity for introverts to really thrive. I am speaking with Kim Beasley, the "introverted entrepreneur whisperer". She has a whole coaching practice geared toward helping this personality type succeed and thrive in the online business world. This topic really hits home for me. I am an introvert!I used to think I was just shy, insecure, and awkward, but that was only because I didn’t know I could leverage my personality in my own way and on my own terms. Kim is going to tell us how to do that. My desire for this episode is to awaken the introvert, define this personality if needed, and empower this person. We have superpowers! I hope to help you discover them. You can find all the links and more in the show notes:howtolife.com/052

#51 - There are many ways to develop character, leadership, teamwork and so many other skills that will only help you throughout your life. And one of those ways is through volunteering. It is important to learn how to help others and give of your skills and time. It encourages generosity and selflessness and compassion. You can earn service and leadership awards, scholarships, and it is also very fun! These are traits that many colleges and employers look for in potential students and employees. But until recently, it was often challenging to find volunteer opportunities. Keeping track of hours, verifying those hours, and keeping it all organized to submit to advisors, counselors, clubs, programs or colleges was also a little daunting. But not anymore. Today I am speaking with the CEO and founder of Volunteer Crowd which is a phenomenal resource for middle school and high school students to find and gain volunteer experience. You can search for volunteer opportunities not only in your city but by zip code, as well. You can search for specific types of volunteering you want to do. There are even  Zoom-based opportunities. Not only that, this site will create a transcript of your hours, your strengths, and references about your personality and character. They will verify everything for you. Everything that used to be floating around on various pieces of paper, or worse, lost is all kept together in one tidy transcript that colleges and employers love. Volunteer Crowd allows you to enjoy the experience without the headache of keeping track of the hours.Show notes for this episode can be found at:howtolife.com/051

Hi and welcome to another episode of the Creative Introvert Entrepreneur Podcast, which is hosted by Kim Beasley, an Introvert Entrepreneur Coach. The focus of this show is to help introverts build your business brand online. A favorite quote of this show is Introverts Unite. Inspiring you with this quote so it can encourage you to be successful at building your business brand online. For this podcast episode, Dr. Laura Jaget shares tips to help you learn how to become free from stress and overwhelm as you learn to use your voice on their own terms. About our guest, Dr. Laura Jaget:Dr. Laura Jaget (Dr. L.J. for short), and in her “adult” life so far, she has been a nationally ranked NCAA Division I tennis player, a chiropractor, a business owner, a wife, a mother of four amazing, accomplished children, a healer, a teacher, dabbled in boxing, marksmanship, ballroom dancing, and most recently, she has been playing senior pro pickleball. Wow, that sounds pretty impressive, especially since in her mind she felt like she didn't know anything while she was doing all this stuff. And she believes she didn't. The adult world didn't care about her degrees or accolades. It just expected her to know how to file her taxes, iron clothes, feed her family, change a diaper, reconcile her bank account, decide between a 36, 48 or 60 month lease, pump her own gas, know what deductible to choose, and be a confident, competent asset to potential employers, to her family, and most importantly to herself. But somehow she learned, and because she is a doctor and a mother, she fixed, taught, and encouraged many others – A LOT! She created the YouTube channel, How To Life – Mominars because she got tired of repeating the same instruction over and over again when she was teaching her own children - and many of their friends- basic life skills. How To Life Mominars Answer Your QuestionsThe term HOW TO LIFE came about because her kids used to come to her and say “Hey, Mom, I have a How To Life question” whenever they needed to know how to do something, or work something. And she would joke that she would hold a MOMINAR about the topic, and all were welcome so that she would only have to explain, whatever it was, once. What is a MOMINAR? This is simply a seminar given by a Mom. It is a term she uses to describe a brief tutorial about any topic where she shows how to do basic life tasks as simply as possible. Final ThoughtsThanks for listening in as I interviewed Dr. Laura Jaget while she shared her knowledge. Once again, this is the Creative Introvert Entrepreneur Podcast and I'm the host, Kim Beasley. Almost every single one of us has already faced a period in life in which we were completely stressed out, whether it was due to exams we were about to take, personal life issues, or even the combination of these two. Dealing with all this can, and certainly will be challenging. Today's guest, however, provides the best approaches to weather the storms of life. Dr. Laura Jaget is a retired chiropractor that has a 28-year of experience under the belt who created the How To Life brand, a podcast and Youtube channel geared toward helping, guiding, and encouraging younger, newer adults to maneuver through adulthood more easily. Or, since the term has already caught on, it helps to take the fear out of “adulting”! Dr. LJ has been a nationally ranked NCAA Division I tennis player, a chiropractor, a business owner, a wife, a mother of four children, a healer, a teacher, has dabbled in boxing, marksmanship, ballroom dancing, and most recently, playing senior pro pickleball. How to Life provides people with the approaches they can use to combine all these aspects of life without getting stressed out. By laying out some techniques we can use to “reset” while preparing and taking an exam, uncovering the myth of energy drinks to boost productivity, and explaining the importance of Power Naps, as she calls them, Dr. LJ gives insights that will help everyone with all different aspects of life.
