In this episode, I'm joined by Jenna Perry, celebrity hair colorist and founder of the Jenna Perry Hair Studio, in Manhattan's SoHo.With a pervasive vision and devoted, rapid-growing following, Jenna Perry is cementing her status as one of the most influential and sought-after hair colorists in the world. A consummate authority on effortless, natural-looking hair color, Jenna's loyal client list includes Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Jennifer Fisher, Maude Apatow, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Elise Taylor, among other high-profile members of the fashion-girl set. It's no surprise that her easy yet inimitable aesthetic inspired the term “Hot Girl Hair,” in honor of Jenna's seductively unbothered way with balayage, the method that put her on the map.Born in Newport, Rhode Island, Jenna moved to New York City immediately after graduating high school to pursue a career in the beauty industry. She would spend the next eight years mastering every aspect of hair styling and color, until she discovered the art of hair painting, better known as balayage, while working at Ion Studio in Soho. It was there she realized where she wanted to focus her devotion and hasn't looked back. Now, seven years later, Jenna is heralding a shift in the way we think about hair color. Her philosophy: Hair is our most important accessory, and it has to match your lifestyle; if you have a high-maintenance schedule, she's going to give you low-maintenance hair.“Trust your gut. Take care of yourself. Make sure that you have at least an hour to disconnect. If you can do that, you can show up as a better person for your business.“ - Jenna PerryTopics Covered:How she began her career in hair and opened her own salonNavigating the challenges of running a business Tools and practices for remaining mentally resilientWorking with friends and prioritizing communicationWhat running a business has taught her about herselfPieces of advice for starting a businessGuest Info:Jenna's InstagramJenna's WebsiteGet in Touch:Benshen.co WebsiteBenshen MembershipBenshen.co InstagramRate, review, and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, or on your favorite podcast platform.

Today Gregg sits down with Jennifer Fisher, founder and Chief Creative Officer of Jennifer Fisher, also known as ‘The Queen of Hoops'!Growing up in Montecito and watching her silversmith grandfather make jewelry in her parent's garage, Jennifer had no idea she'd enter the jewelry industry years later. She had a childhood passion in fashion, but no jewelry experience. All self-taught! Gregg has Jennifer step back 18 years ago and explain her evolution from college student to business mogul! While working as a wardrobe stylist, she decided to start a family, had some bumps along the way, but ultimately had her son, Shane. Wanting a unique piece of jewelry to commemorate his birth led to the start of Jennifer Fisher jewelry. The charm pendant she designed was a hit with celebrities on the set she was styling for. Uma Thurman was one of her first celebrity clients-she even wore the charm on the cover of Glamour magazine.Jennifer started in a tiny studio in Soho and grew from the ground up. She used intuition to help grow her business. She dealt with magazines saying charm jewelry wasn't fashion-forward enough and she would never be successful. Customizable fine jewelry wasn't a thing at the time and Jennifer saw the opportunity to bring to market this new trend. Pivoting to brass jewelry made the charms more accessible to everyone, and the business exploded!Jennifer's top tips:Resiliency is key and relationships are everything!Family support means everything. This support led to Jennifer taking risks knowing they had her back. Watching her father fail at times in business taught her how people can come back from failures. Life is not perfect, especially for working parents. Jennifer is not only married, but her husband is her business partner!Be a self-funded smaller business with an entrepreneurial spirit. Find the employees that appreciate that spirit. Transitioning older employees from the entrepreneurial style the company used to have, to the current style with more ‘guardrails' in place. It's been a challenge for Jennifer to no longer be the one in charge as her company has grown. Her design schedule has changed to accommodate her new company's structure.Be vulnerable and finally, don't take anything too personally, especially while fundraising!Want insight into growing a business from the ground up, entering an industry without any experience, working with your spouse as your partner, how to hustle and handle the word ‘no'? Check out my full interview with Jennifer Fisher for all this and much more!

Dubbed by the New York Times as the Queen of Hoops, Jennifer Fisher's accessories brand is coveted by top celebrities and the fashion set. But Jennifer Fisher's creativity doesn't fit neatly into a box. As a former wardrobe stylist for commercials, this jewelry founder's exceptional eye has graced other categories like home and interior design, and her expert kitchen skills have made her custom salts the new must-have accessory to meals across the country with @jenniferfisherkitchen. How does a jewelry designer branch out into salts? Jennifer is laser-focused on creating what she feels deep in her gut and not caring what others think. In this episode, Jennifer shares her personal story of motherhood and serious health struggles and how her son's unexpected and miraculous birth quite literally gave birth to her jewelry collection. The baby gifts being sent to her just weren't cutting it. Her famous personalized stamped dog tag was the talk of the photo shoots she was on, and all it took was making one necklace for Uma Thurman (who wore hers on the cover of Glamour), and the rest is history. Founded 18 years ago, her brand is now omnichannel and just getting started. Jennifer shares her mentality around brand-building as an individual, being super direct, and why you can't attract everyone. Note: That's ok with her. Her energy and style are contagious; you'll leave this one inspired to be yourself. Jennifer is a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), a nominee for the 2019 Accessory Designer of the Year at the annual CFDA Awards, a recipient of the 2018 Town & Country Jewelry Award for Retail Innovation, the 2016 Influencer of the Year at the annual Accessories Council Excellence (ACE) Awards and was a nominee for the CFDA Swarovski Accessories award in 2014. She speaks frequently about strategic leadership, brand building, and empowering the next generation of fashion entrepreneurs, most recently at Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan, Columbia, Savannah College of Art & Design, and Northeastern University.
True wellness comes from changing your lifestyle and mindset about food, not from a diet. It is about cutting through the noise and listening to your body and eating the food that makes you feel your best. Jennifer Fisher, Owner of Jennifer Fisher Kitchen and Jennifer Fisher Jewelry, went on a journey to heal her Hashimoto's disease with a gluten-free diet. She discovered that true wellness isn't achieved by fixating on a specific diet but by embracing a whole-food approach with simple ingredients. Jennifer became more discerning about the so-called "healthy" food found on supermarket shelves and learned the difference between products marketed as healthy and those that genuinely nourished her. For her, the key is not to be deceived by the health food industry but to align your choices with personal preferences and goals. In this episode, Jennifer talks to Jen about the deceptive marketing tactics of so-called "healthy" products, sharing personal experiences and practical tips for navigating the confusing world of food labels. Key Takeaways [03:11] - Jennifer's gut health journey. [06:39] - Differences Jennifer noticed once she started reading the labels. [10:00] - Why is finding good products in the grocery store difficult? [16:15] - Jennifer's favorite dairy-free brands. [28:58] - Jen and Jennifer discuss citric acid. [31:00] - Why you should avoid eating beans and legumes. [42:00] - Jennifer tells the story of her salt. Quotes [04:10] - “I really started my own personalized health journey because I spent so much money over the years on nutritionists and programs.” ~ Jennifer Fisher [07:57] - “This is not a diet. I'm not preaching a diet. I'm preaching a lifestyle.” ~ Jennifer Fisher [28:22] - “People don't realize that natural flavors aren't good for you.” ~ Jennifer Fisher Links Jennifer Fisher Kitchen Instagram Jennifer Fisher Kitchen Jennifer Fisher Jewelry Ketotarian: The (Mostly) Plant-Based Plan to Burn Fat, Boost Your Energy, Crush Your Cravings, and Calm Inflammation Goldfish Crackers Powerade Doritos Culina Yougut Cocojune Three Trees Organic AWG Bakery Coyotas Tortillas Stellar Eats Boulder Canyon Siete Food LUNA Bar Jeff's Garden Foods Primal Kitchen Lovebird Cereal Honey Nut Cheerios Dave's Killer Bread Trader Joe's Big Tree Farms Burlap and Barrel Connect with our host Jen on Instagram Jen on Facebook Wake Up and Read the Labels! Anna is a writer who received her B.A. in Film/Video from Columbia College Chicago and M.A. in Film Studies from Chapman University. Jennifer Fisher is a modern master of disciplines who has reshaped the landscape of American jewelry by redefining what sentimental fine jewelry looks like in the 21st century. Fisher's modern approach extends to her fashion jewelry collection, which is crafted to the same degree as the luxury market. Uninspired by the traditionally feminine personal jewelry that permeated the market, Jennifer began her foray into jewelry in 2005 with a single piece: a stamped dog tag with her first born's name. Jennifer soon found herself inundated with requests for her necklace from industry insiders and stylists, culminating in the launch of her eponymous line in 2006. Since then, every collection that Fisher designs, across fine and fashion jewelry, evokes a sense of feminine strength and boldness. Dubbed “The Queen of Hoops” by the New York Times, her unapologetic approach to the art of jewelry has garnered the attention of celebrities such as Michelle Obama, Hailey Bieber, and Jennifer Lopez as well as jewelry lovers worldwide.
