This is an Encore Presentation of my 2021 interview with Joe Bouchard, a founding member of Blue Oyster Cult, the band that had a huge hit with “(Don't Fear) The Reaper”. That song later became an even bigger hit - and propelled a renaissance for Blue Oyster Cult - after it was featured in the iconic ‘More Cowbell' skit on Saturday Night Live in 2000 featuring Will Ferrell and Christopher Walken. My featured song is “New York City Groove” from Made In New York by my band Project Grand Slam. #AlbertBouchard #BlueOysterCult #imaginos #BlueCoup #Dictators This week we have none other than Albert Bouchard one of the original members of Blue Oyster Cult. He's also with his brother Joe Bouchard and Dennis Dinaway in the band Blue Coup, the Dictators with Ross The Boss and a slew of other musical ventures. Albert recently released the 3rd and final installment on of his Imaginos Saga. Completely telling the story in the order of how it was supposed to be, with reimagined versions of blue oyster cult songs. We talk to Albert about that, the recordings of the albums, his time with BOC, the dictators and blue coupe. He also talks about a new storytellers tour he will be doing. Just a heads up Al's connection got really bad so there are some parts with broken audio but hopefully we were able to put a good show on for you. https://albertbouchard.net/home --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rat-salad-review/message
The Jeremy White Show welcomes Eric Bloom from Blue Oyster Cult! We talk about some famous concert bills they've been apart of, how Tony Iomi is holding up the release of the infamous concert they did together, losing all their vintage gear during Hurricane Sandy, how GHOST STORIES was recorded and made from vintage analog tapes and so much more! He also tells stories of some bands that weren't neccerasily that nice to them over the years... all of that and more! After the resounding success of their 50th Anniversary celebration, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT is eagerly gearing up for an exciting new chapter in their storied career with the upcoming release of 'Ghost Stories.' This highly anticipated album marks a fitting finale to the recording legacy of one of rock's most iconic fixtures from the past 50 years. In a thrilling partnership with Frontiers Music, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT is set to captivate fans with a collection of reimagined and newly completed songs that span from 1978-2016. These musical treasures, long considered 'lost gems' by BLUE ÖYSTER CULT enthusiasts, were originally recorded between 1978 and 1983, except for one track from 2016, "If I Fell." Also included is the only known studio recording of their concert classic “Kick Out the Jams” (MC5 cover). Some of the material is from sessions workshopping material for an album, some is from performance rehearsals. All were recorded once in the hopes that someday they'd see the light of day. George Geranios, the band's original audio engineer and an integral part of the band's golden years, co-produced the original 1978-83 recordings along with BÖC. All were originally recorded on reel-to-reel analog tape. They were later transferred to digital audio, which is when modern AI and magical musical talents met and the collection of vintage multi-track recordings was de-mixed, re-mixed, and produced by Steve Schenck and Richie Castellano to become 'Ghost Stories. Work in the studio for the album was completed by Richie Castellano along with remaining original members Eric Bloom and Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser, both Albert Bouchard and Rick Downey appear on drums with additional overdubs recorded by Joe Bouchard. All these original lineup members appearing on 'Ghost Stories,' create a musical journey that traverses decades. To celebrate this exciting announcement, the band shares the single "So Supernatural" along with a new music video that has a super cool blend of classic rock and modern AI. If you grew up in the 70s & 80s like we did, you knew Blue Oyster Cult for their radio hits Don't Fear (The Reaper), Burnin for You and Godzilla. Or you might know them from Fast Times at Ridgemont High - "No I don't have any Blue Oyster Cult, I ate 34 pairs last time around - where were you?" Of course children of the 90s will never forget the famous Cowbell Sketch with Christopher Walken. But Blue Oyster Cult are still touring after 50 years and we want to explore their legacy with the man who has literally written the book on BOC (several books, actually), Martin Popoff. We ask Martin to recall how he found the band as a young man, saw them play live, got Eric Bloom's autograph on a $1 bill and interviews he conducted with band members over the years. I had been a musician all my life but at that time it was impossible to perform or record or even to rehearse. So I put all of my creative energies into the podcast. The purpose of the podcast is to inspire and motivate people to follow and succeed at their dream, just as I followed my youthful music dream later in life and succeeded.I'm pleased to say that the podcast has grown and developed wonderfully. It's ranked in the Top 1% of all podcasts and we have listeners in 194 countries! How about that! And I've had so many famous musicians and others as guests, in particular a number of musicians who were my heroes as I was coming of age musically in the 60s and 70s.And the icing on the cake is that I've begun to collaborate musically with several of my musician guests.I wanted to celebrate the 100th episode milestone by putting together a kind of montage episode featuring some of the great musicians who I've interviewed. I've taken excerpts from their episodes, but I invite you to listen to their full interviews and also to all of my other episodes. And don't forget all the Bonus Music Episodes and Special Episodes too that I have released from time to time.I hope that you enjoy this 100th Episode Celebration. Joe Bouchard is best known as a former member of Blue Öyster Cult. He recently released the album American Rocker. His brother Albert Bouchard is a drummer and was a founding member of Blue Öyster Cult. His newest album is Imaginos 2… It was released last year.
Joe Bouchard is best known as a former member of Blue Öyster Cult. The original lineup sold millions of albums for Columbia Records, with such classic songs as “(Don't Fear) the Reaper” and the #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart “Burning for You.” He contributed to songwriting and lead vocals on some of their greatest songs, such as “Hot Rails to Hell”. Bouchard releases his second single “In the Golden Age,” from the forthcoming album American Rocker due out on June 3 through his brother's (Albert Bouchard) and his imprint Rockheart Records and Deko Entertainment (ADA/Warner Music Group). Joe had this to say about the release, “ ‘In the Golden Age' is a high energy rocker that sets the pace for the entire album. The song started out inspired by the old ‘60s TV show Route 66. I updated the theme to be about the early shows of Blue Öyster Cult when we began playing big shows on the West Coast of the U.S. Yes, my life in the ‘70s was an endless highway with adventures at every turn. Ya dig? It was all good and exciting!” The new album American Rocker sees the return of Mickey Curry (Bryan Adams, Hall and Oates, Alice Cooper) on drums, and sees Bouchard taking a look back at the heyday of the ‘70's with BÖC on tracks like “In the Golden Age,” and “Rocket to Fame.” As Joe states, “American Rocker is a musical journey of my life as a rock star. I feel lucky to live a life of music, and to be fulfilling my wildest dreams.” Joe Bouchard will be joining his brother, Albert Bouchard, for select shows in North America and their first ever Bouchard Brothers UK Tour this summer.

Join Brian and Jim as they chat about Joe Bouchard's solo work, ahead of their imminent interview with him. There's nothing from Joe's new album, 'American Rocker', though, as we're going to chat extensively with him about that next time. Two great guitarists with legendary pasts, today on Talkin' Rock. Joe Bouchard, formally of B.O.C., talks about his new album, American Rocker. It's a throwback to the 70's in a big way. Oh, you wanted more cowbell, we give you more cowbell. He talks about the famous SNL skit and the impact it had on him. That's just for starters in this great conversation with Joe, a very fun interview. Up next, around the 31 minute mark, is Mike Keneally. Another guy I've never talked to, but found him very interesting and easy to talk with. He tells me how one joins the Frank Zappa band, the "vault" of Zappa material, and just some great conversation about Frank and Mike's own musical life. Two great listens, one sub-par podcast....enjoy! -Meltdown- https://joebouchard.com/ https://www.keneally.com/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/
In this episode, Jon talks with rockstar and former member of Blue Oyster Cult, Joe Bouchard, about Joe's time in the band and his exciting career in rock music. connvalley.net
Albert Bouchard is best known as a founding member of Blue Öyster Cult. The original line-up sold millions of albums for Columbia Records, with such classic songs as “(Don't Fear) The Reaper” and the #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart “Burning For You”. Contributing to songwriting, drums, and lead vocals on some of their greatest songs, such as “Cites on Flame with Rock and Roll”. With the success of “Re Imaginos” last year, Albert Bouchard is now back with “Imaginos 2 – Bombs Over Germany (minus zero and counting)”, continuing the Trilogy of Imaginos, a concept album about an alien conspiracy that is brought to fruition during the late 19th and early 20th century through the actions of Imaginos, an agent of evil. The album weaves scripts and poems by the late Sandy Pearlman. It features guests Ross The Boss (Dictators), Joe Cerisano (Silver Condor, TSO), and reunites original Blue Öyster Cult members Eric Bloom, Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser and Joe Bouchard, as well current BOC member Richie Castellano, who all contribute to this latest installment. The album also features reworks of classics like “Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll”, “The Red and the Black”, and “Dominance and Submission”. The first single from the album is “OD'd On Life Itself” and Albert had this to say about it, “This version of OD'd On Life Itself is a very different take on the song that was recorded for BOC's second album, Tyranny and Mutation. The lyrics return to the original lyrics written by Sandy Pearlman, much less sarcastic and much more spooky. The track reflects that change with a simpler and more spacious arrangement with just acoustic guitar, mysterioso guitar, violin, drums and bass. The stand out lyrics are “Don't you fear this trade in lives” and “This wedding by heaven was made up in hell” which portend to the darker nature of this second act in the Imaginos saga.”

Joe Bouchard was a founding member of the band Blue Oyster Cult, which had a huge hit with “(Don't Fear) The Reaper”. That song later had a second life after it was featured in the iconic ‘More Cowbell' skit on Saturday Night Live in 2000 featuring Will Ferrell and Christopher Walken. In the second half of the show Joe and Robert do a Songfest featuring three of BOC's most famous songs. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Life can be full of surprises. Think about how SNL - out of the blue - did a skit featuring “The Reaper” which sent Blue Oyster Cult into orbit, and then Metallica covered Joe's song “Astronomy” and sold 5 million copies. You could never have predicted these life changing events. So keep doing what you love and do it well. You never know what's going to happen in life.Robert's featured song in this episode is “New York City Groove” from Project Grand Slam's album Made In New York. Robert chose this song because Joe and his brother Albert - two of the founders of BOC - were from upstate New York and the band got its start at Stony Brook, NY, and the song is about NYC -- which Robert felt was close enough!Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/track/2ZAjjjTSaQ6UbuVhjIzefO?si=QLFINJtpQuiKbfXwIAbQAA---------------------------------------Robert's “Follow Your Dream Handbook”, his highly rated combination memoir and how-to, telling his personal story and giving readers step-by-step instructions how-to follow and succeed at their dream, was released on August 26th and it immediately became an Amazon #1 Bestseller! Albert Bouchard is best known as a founding member of Blue Öyster Cult. The original line-up sold millions of albums for Columbia Records, with such classic songs as “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” and the #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart “Burning For You”. Contributing to songwriting, drums, and lead vocals on some of their greatest songs, such as “Cites on Flame with Rock and Roll”. Albert is set to release “Re Imaginos” on November 6th through he and his brother’s (Joe Bouchard) new imprint label, RockHeart Records / Deko Entertainment (ADA/Warner Music Group). The album is Albert’s reimagining of the 1988 Blue Öyster Cult release, “Imaginos”, which was originally intended as Albert’s solo album. As Albert explains, “Most BOC fans know at this point that ‘Imaginos’ was supposed to be my solo album. Some people think it’s the best BOC album, others think it’s not a ‘true’ BOC album. In either case, they’re right. I made this new album for them so that they can hear a more properly realized version of the tale."

Adam, Bryan and Gina open today’s show talking about how everyone wants to be able to work from home and get paid, especially teachers. They go on to discuss how we define certain jobs as ‘essential’, as well as opinions that Adam has modified over his lifetime. They also watch a clip about the transition of power from Trump to Biden, and talk with a caller about the world of chess. Later, Josh Todd and Stevie D of Buckcherry join the show, and Adam can’t help but notice the kids doing online schooling in the background. The guys then talk about their upcoming live virtual concert, performing at socially distanced venues, and how their lives have changed since the lockdowns. Joe had this to say about the latest single and video, “She’s a Legend began when I got the lyrics from sci-fi writer John Shirley. John has dozens of books, screenplays in his catalog and often writes lyrics for the current Blue Öyster Cult. He has a great imagination and is not shy about using wild paranormal references in his writing. This song is about a notorious female serial killer who goes through a series of men, leaving them in the dust, so to speak. The last man standing falls for this exotic woman. Their love and lust is consummated but rather than ending up like so many others, she lets him go. In the end love conquers all, and the narrator lives to tell this strange tale. A strange legendary tale!”

Joe Bouchard is best known as one of the founding members of Blue Öyster Cult. The original band sold millions of albums for Columbia Records with such classic songs as “Don’t Fear the Reaper” and the #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart “Burning For You”. The band toured all over the world with shows in the US, Canada, Europe, the UK and Japan, and has earned Joe nine Gold and two Platinum albums. As a songwriter, he wrote many BÖC songs including the very popular ”Astronomy” which was covered by Metallica on their 1998’s release Garage Inc and the live staple “Hot Rails to Hell”, which was the second BÖC single released by Columbia Records. Today when not writing and recording in his home studio, he performs with several bands. His latest group, Blue Coupe, is a superstar combo which features his brother Albert Bouchard, also a founding member of BÖC, and Dennis Dunaway, a founder of the Alice Cooper Group and a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His first solo recording, Jukebox in My Head, was released in 2009 and he has since released Tales from the Island, New Solid Black, and The Power of Music. Strange Legends features Mickey Curry (Bryan Adams, Hall and Oates, Alice Cooper) on drums, with stand out tracks like “Forget About Love”, “She’s a Legend” and the cover of The Kinks 1964 hit “All Day and All of the Night". Joe Bouchard will release his brand new solo album ‘Strange Legends’ on July 31st.
