You'll receive five days of encouragement focused on helping you become a more confident you! Today, we're continuing our journey through the Core of Confidence and talking about honoring our relationships as we work on ourselves from the inside out. Then, my good friend and bestselling author Les Parrott sits down with me to talk about healthy relationships and principles from his new book (that I’m absolutely loving!). Later on, we’ll unpack the Golden Rule and how we can incorporate that into our relationships. Let’s jump in! The Quality of Your Life Depends on This One Thing Relationships make up every aspect of our lives. But the reality is, life is messy and people are imperfect. So, when it comes to honoring the relationships in your life, how do you speak the truth and be loving instead of harsh? Here’s a rule of thumb I like to use in my relationships: the Golden Rule. Treat others as you would want to be treated. It's so simple, right? But it's so hard to do because you can't control how someone treats you. What you can control is how you treat them. You can do unto others as you would have them do unto you. To break it down even further, here are three really simple and tactical things you can do to put the Golden Rule into practice when it comes to your relationships: Appreciate everything. Believe the best. Communicate everything. Here’s the Real Problem With Your Relationships with Les Parrott Today on the show, I’m chatting with my good friend and bestselling author Les Parrott. Les just published a new book called Healthy Me, Healthy Us. I’m loving it, and I know you will too. Les and I talked about his new book and what it looks like to honor your relationships. Here are a few highlights: Our relationships can only be as healthy as we are. Every one of us has a choice to change. Instead of finding the right person, we need to focus on becoming the right person. We have to overcome the “disease to please.” It’s essential that we learn to live with empathy. Are You Getting This Right? “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” — Matthew 7:12 (NIV) We've been talking a lot about honoring your relationships. We know we can't control other people, but we can control ourselves. So, I want to ask you a few questions to help you put this into practice: When is it really hard for you to “do unto others as you would have them do unto you?” What type of person do you want to be? What are the characteristics that you want to display? Write down five. How can you practice those qualities (even when it's hard)? Write down some different things that are going to help you actually live that out. What are some ways you see God shaping you?

You'll receive five days of encouragement focused on helping you become a more confident you! Welcome to The Christy Wright Show! Today, we’re going to jump into talking about how you can appreciate your body—this one body you’ve been given. I know this is a topic that starts to make all of us feel pretty uncomfortable, but y’all, it’s that important. Lisa Bevere is joining me today to unpack what it looks like to really like and appreciate the body you’ve been given. Stop Being Mean to This Friend We all have this negative voice in our heads that tell us we’re not enough . . . not pretty enough, not skinny enough, not young enough, and the list goes on. And we always think, “If I looked like that, I wouldn’t have these thoughts.” But it doesn’t matter what you look like, because no one is exempt from it. The way you talk to yourself affects your sense of confidence and joy. It affects who you are and what you do in this life more than you can possibly imagine. It affects the example you set for your children, friends and even your coworkers. So, it’s time to change the narrative. It’s time to start appreciating this one body God gave you to live in. Scripture says your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). Your body was created by God, and I guarantee you that He doesn’t make mistakes. I believe that He loves your body. He even likes it. And He probably wants you to love it and like it as well. Think about it: Would you ever treat your friend how you’re treating yourself? It's time you actually become friends with your body, appreciate it, and celebrate it. So, if you're going to build confidence in yourself and the God who created you—if you're going to get back to yourself and live this amazing life that God has for you—you have to start appreciating this one body you've been given. One Thing You Need to Stop Obsessing About with Lisa Bevere I’m so excited to hang out with Lisa Bevere today as we talk about what it looks like to appreciate your body. Lisa is the bestselling author of several books, and she just recently published a new women’s devotional called Strong. Here are a few highlights from our conversation: The myth women believe about their bodies How easily the number on the scale can become an idol Why you should appreciate your body right now How to steward your body and your health . . . without obsessing over them The Gift You’re Missing Out On… “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” —1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NIV) You are not your own. You were bought at a price. I love this idea of a different layer of responsibility, not only because it obviously affects how we think about ourselves and our sense of confidence, but it's also a command from God who loves us very much. He knows what's best for us. He knows what we need. He knows what we were created for. So He gives us commands and instructions in His words. And one of the commands is to honor God with your body. Today, I want you to be really honest with yourself as you write down the answers to these questions: How do you normally think about your body? How do you normally talk to it? Would you ever talk to someone you love like that? What do you appreciate about your body? (Make a list and write down every single thing.) What are some practical ways you can honor God with your body?
The lies you’re believing (and don’t even realize) 0:56 Are your thoughts beating you up? We're continuing to work through The Core of Confidence as we learn what it looks like to work on ourselves from the inside out. And today, we’re taking a deep dive into what it looks like to protect your mind by learning how to control your thoughts. Jennie Allen, my good friend and bestselling author, joins us to chat about her new book and the topic of taking every thought captive. Then, we’ll journal together, digging a little deeper into what protecting your mind actually looks like for you. Let’s go! We all have stories and narratives that play in the background of our minds all day, every day. Some of them are true, but many of them are not. And you know, it doesn’t really matter what is true if you don’t believe it, because what you believe is what you experience—whether it’s true or not. The stories you believe and the thoughts that you accept and hold matter. The stories you believe in and the thoughts you have . . . they shape your behavior. They shape your reality. And they make up your life. God has a lot to say about our thoughts—what we think about and what we set our minds on. Romans 12:2 (NIV) says: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Isn't that what we all want—God's will? What is God’s plans for us? What is God's direction? The Bible says you’ll find it when you renew your mind. That means it's possible to renew your mind. It's possible to have new thoughts. It's possible to retrain your brain to find the truth in the lies and to break through the stories and limitations that have been holding you back. It's possible. It wouldn't say it if it wasn't possible. And that, my friend, is good news for me and you. I’m so excited to chat with Jennie Allen, my good friend and bestselling author. Jennie just launched her new book called Get Out of Your Head. Join us as we work through what it looks like to protect our thoughts by taking every thought captive. We cover: Having control over your thoughts Who is most susceptible to toxic thoughts The three main lies we believe What it looks like to take every thought captive

In each episode, I’m going to give you everything you need to help you break through limitations that are holding you back and keeping you stuck. You never know, you might just surprise yourself as you see what new possibilities open for you. In episode one, we talked about The Core of Confidence framework and what it looks like to work on yourself from the inside out. This week, we’re talking about starting where it all begins: your spirit. Everything starts and ends with God. To work on yourself from the inside out, you have to start with the deepest, most important part of you: your spirit. Today, we’re talking about what it looks like to make faith your foundation. Join me and Annie F. Downs as we talk about what it looks like to live that out. Then, I’ll give you some questions so you can process how you can live out your faith in your own life. DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU’VE LOST CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE? Here’s what needs to change. Everything starts and ends with God. He’s who we live for. And our faith is what we live from. In Matthew 22:37–40 (NIV), Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” To work from the inside out, you have to start with the deepest, most important part of you, which is your foundation of faith. It's not just a piece of the pie. It's not a label we give ourselves like wife, mother, leader, author . . . and it’s certainly not created equal with everything else. Instead, your faith should be the filter that you put everything else through. It should be the source of your energy, your direction and your decisions. You were created and designed for your relationship with God to be the very foundation you build your life on. Everything starts there. MAKING FAITH A PRIORITY WITH ANNIE F. DOWNS Today, I’m sitting down with my good friend, bestselling author, and brilliant Bible teacher Annie F. Downs. Annie and I are talking about what it looks like to build a foundation of faith in our lives, including: Making faith the source of your life, not just a piece Learning the difference between running ahead of God and going with God Seeking God first above all else Building spiritual disciplines ARE YOU TIRED OF TRYING TO FIX EVERYTHING? “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” — John 15:4 (NIV) I love the idea of remaining. It’s so simple to understand but hard to do. We've been talking about what it looks like to build a foundation of faith, and one of the simplest (but most important) things that we can do is to simply remain in our relationship with the Lord. Remaining can be so hard. But God is saying that a life of faith means a life of trust. It means letting go and holding every aspect of what you do and what you have with open hands so God can put what He wants in your life and take what He wants out of it. Our only job is to remain in Him. So, I want to lead you through a few journal questions. I encourage you to pray about your answers to these questions as you process what it means for you to remain in Jesus: What do you tend to do first? Do you seek God for what you need, or do you tend to try to fix things yourself? If you tend to pray and look to God first—or if you’re like me, and you tend to try and fix things yourself—how does that usually turn out? What are the patterns you see in your life? What gets in the way of you putting your faith first? What are some simple things you could do to seek God first and build a foundation of faith? My hope for you would be that as you answer these questions, you begin to cultivate this habit of remaining in the Lord. And that it not only becomes easier for you, but it also becomes something you actually experience every single day.

Don’t worry, we’re still going to help you pursue your dreams, build your business, and reach your goals. But we’re also going to help you with your life. Because let’s face it: You don’t have a business life and a home life. You have ONE life. And that’s what this show’s all about. In each episode, I’m going to give you everything you need to help you break through limitations that are holding you back and keeping you stuck. And once you step outside that box, you might just surprise yourself. I'm really excited to see what new possibilities this opens for you, what God might be doing in your life, and what He has to say. I’ll be here to point you toward truth, perspective and the motivation you need to live the life God’s calling you to—whether that’s making money doing what you love or something completely different. Y’all, I’m so excited to see what God’s going to do in and through you as you take this step of faith with us. The Real Way to Build Confidence Real life-change happens when you work on yourself from the inside out. That’s why I want to introduce you to the framework I use to help others do just that. It’s called the Core of Confidence. This framework is made up of five stages that help you build confidence in yourself and the God who created you. Let’s take a look: Start with your spirit. Protect your mind. Take care of your body. Work on your relationships. Work on your resources—your time, money and energy. How Do You Work on Yourself with Rachel Cruze Y’all, I’m so excited because one of my best friends is here to talk about one of our favorite topics: working on yourself. Rachel Cruze is a #1 New York Times bestselling author and host of The Rachel Cruze Show. We covered a lot of ground in our conversation, but here are some of my favorite takeaways: What it looks like to invest in yourself and grow as a person How to be intentional with your time Why taking time to work on yourself isn’t selfish “I know that I’m such a better mom, I’m such a better wife, I’m such a better friend when I’m functioning out of the whole person of who I am.” — Rachel Cruze What Part of Your Life Can You Control Many of you know that I’m really big on journaling. I think it’s so powerful when you take the ideas in your head and the dreams in your heart and get them down on paper. When I journal, I end up writing down thoughts and feelings I didn’t even know I had. And more than that, it’s an opportunity for God to show up and lead. So, let’s jump in and spend some time journaling about today’s Scripture. Galatians 6:4–5 (NIV) says, “Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load.” Work through these questions below, taking the time to pause, pray and journal: When you try to fix others, how do you feel? How do you feel when you think about controlling you? Which area of your life are you most excited to work on? Which area of your life are you nervous to work on? What does it mean to you to do the creative best with your own life?

Please leave us a review at http://openskyfitness.com/review "Research shows that 65% of American women have disordered eating of some kind and an additional 10% have full blown eating disorders whether or not they've been diagnosed or treated. So 75% of American women are thought to have some issue with food that is disordered." - Christy Harrison of the Food Psych Podcast on why we need to make peace with food and your body Check Out Our Batch Cooking Show! It's a great way to prepare for the week ahead of you by making nutritious, delicious meals in advance. Batch cooking allows you to cook multiple meals at once that you can have over the course of 3-4 days! Make Peace With Food & Your Body "It's okay that it's not working for you. It's okay that it's taking you a lot of tries to get to this because nobody gets it out of the gate. Nobody does." - Rob Dionne on why it's okay that it takes you awhile to get healthy again or to find the right nutrition for your body. There's a lot of social pressure that makes us feel like we have to look a certain way or a be a certain size to be accepted and look good to others. Fortunately, there are people like Christy Harrison of the Food Psych Podcast who are saying that "No, health is not a size." and they're teaching us how we can love our bodies and make peace with food. Like Christy, it can be a long, difficult journey to accepting yourself and healing your relationship with food, but you should never give up. There's always time and amazing sources out there to help you on your health and wellness journey. Intuitive Eating vs Traditional "Diets" "Diets don't take into account how hungry you are, how energized you are between meals, what foods do you crave? If you demonize or restrict a certain type of food, that becomes all you ever want to eat." - Christy Harrison As we talked about on the last podcast, Should I Count Calories?, low-calorie diets have a 95% fail rate! A lot of these trendy diets are driven by fear and they tell you to go cold turkey and cut out certain foods such as gluten, carbs, sugar. But it's impossible to live on such a restricted diet. "The science behind restrictive diets doesn't hold up over time. What does hold up is variety, moderation, and balance." - Christy Harrison Unlike traditional, harsh diets, intuitive eating focuses on thinking about eating a balanced meal and choose types of food to eat that make you feel good about yourself. By following such a restricted diet of no carbs or breads, Christy found herself experiencing a cycle of binge eating those foods, body shaming herself, and then working out in excessive amounts to try to make up for it. If you're thinking to yourself right now, that this is what you do and how your relationship with food is, don't be too hard on yourself. It's never too late to make peace with food and your body. It can be easy to become obsessed with counting calories, restricting what food we eat, or working out for such an amount of time that we become obsessed with it. Strategies to Make Peace with Food & Your Body "Intuitive nutrition helps you related to food and relate to your body again. It's really important to reconnect with your body so that you do it from a place of self-care rather than self-control and controlling your body." - Christy Harrison It can take years of therapy to become more self-caring towards food and our bodies. We need to be more compassionate and kind towards ourselves. Christy's advice is that you should think about treating ourselves like we would treat a friend. For example, if you want a snack, allow yourself to have that healthy snack rather than restricting yourself. Don't limit yourself from waiting for a certain amount of time to eat that snack or avoid eating it at all. Self-care is understanding when your body is hungry for nutrition and providing it with healthy foods. How to Set Yourself Up for Intuitive Eating To make peach with your food & body, Christy suggests two main steps: Reject the diet mentality Honor your hunger When you reject the diet mentality, you're not limiting yourself of food nor are you relying on the next diet to make your magic pill. Once again, these trendy diets only have a 5% success rate and they're not created to fit every person's nutrition needs. You can honor your hunger by ensuring that you're trying to provide your body with nutrition whenever it's hungry. It's very normal to start to feel hungry again within 3-4 hours of eating a meal because our blood sugar is low. Having a healthy snack will keep your stomach satisfied, your head clear, and your body in motion. Understand Your Body & Make Peace Today Christy provides a quiz on her website to help you assess your relationship with food. It's not a formal diagnosis, but it can help you to better understand your relationship with food and if you should seek health to help you get healthy again. Christy also has a closed Facebook group, Food Psych Podcast Listener Crew. It's a great place to be with people who feel the same way that you do about health, nutrition, and positive body image.
