My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Ted Aukerman, author of the book A Farmboy, a Tom Boy, Jesus Freaks, and Divine Appointments. Ted was born in Ohio and moved to Oklahoma with his parents in 1978. He lives in Muskogee, OK, with his wife, Patti, his sweetheart of 38 years. They have three children and six grandchildren. With one on the way! His first novel published in 2024, is actually four shorter works that were combined to make the Skips Sparks Anthology, A Farm Boy, a Tomboy, Jesus Freaks and Divine Appointments. Ted is a singer-songwriter writing songs for Aukrocket Records. His albums are available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and Reverbnation to name a few. Movie fans will appreciate his contributions to the soundtrack of God, Where Are You? directed by De Miller from Lazarus Filmworks. Ted produces music and podcasts in his studio, Ted's Auto Repair. His podcast Tales From The Road of Life is available on many platforms. Also, on Reverbnation is music from Skip Sparks, one of his characters and Ted's alter ego. In my book review, I stated A Farmboy, A Tomboy, Jesus Freaks, and Divine Appointments is a Christian historical fiction filled with music, laughter, hard times, and saving grace. I thoroughly enjoyed Ted's characters, all of whom had problems, issues, disappointments, and poor decisions - and yet, they also had kindness, love, determination, and a need for something more than the world seemed ready to offer. This is a meandering story where you get to meet the characters, remeet them at earlier and later points in their lives, and finally see how they all come together, each touching the other. I enjoyed the music and poetry sprinkled throughout the pages, as well as watching characters go from dark places to places filled with light and hope. As human beings navigating this reality I'm sure this is one we've all struggled with at one time or another. The feeling of losing control or needing to be “more” in control of the situation. That is one of the illusions that the duality of this experience leads us to believe… that control is even possible. We create all this unnecessary pressure for ourselves. To do the right thing or say the right thing to maintain that illusion and “create” the outcome we desire. The reality is that it is nothing we are “doing” that is bringing about those outcomes. It is all about what we believe and how in alignment we are with the energy of what we desire. If we logically know that there is truly no such thing as control, where does that innate need to have it come from? Well that is exactly what we explore in this episode. We hope you will join us. Lead Balloon - Public Relations, Marketing and Strategic Communications Disaster Stories
Earlier this month, a new startup announced that they would be using artificial intelligence to churn out thousands of podcast episodes voiced by A.I. podcast hosts. Inception Point A.I. claims to be able to fashion 3,000 podcast episodes a week at a paltry cost of $1 per episode, and plans to flood the market with massive amounts of content in the hopes of generating revenue through programmatic advertising. But the reaction to their market entrance was anything but warm and welcoming. Podcast industry stalwarts and professional communicators expressed shock and outrage that the startup would resort to such a low-quality, high-volume tactic. Many raised ethical questions about replacing human insights with A.I.-generated "slop," and concerns abounded about job losses in an already contracting industry. In a post to her LinkedIn, Inception Point A.I. CEO Jeanine Wright was flamed by dozens of angry comments from incensed audio professionals. Some objected strenuously to bizarre comments where Wright declared that "half the people on the planet will be AI" in the near future. Others were upset by her decision to cast critics of the business model as "probably lazy Luddites." So obviously this story is a PERFECT fit for us here on Lead Balloon. First, we'll discuss the industry reaction, the PR faceplant and the dubious business model with Jeff Umbro—CEO of the Podglomerate, host of the show "Podcast Perspectives," and a leading authority on the state of the podcast industry. And then we'll cover the moral implications of A.I. podcast hosts with Ronald Young, Jr. , "Best Podcast Host" winner at this year's Ambies Podcast Academy Awards and creator of award-winning podcasts including "Weight For It." Ultimately, whether you consider communication an artistic act OR a professional pursuit, we'll unpack the implications and repercussions of a world where big tech insiders try to replace the HUMAN in the human act of communication. A note: we spoke with Inception Point A.I. CEO Jeanine Wright and invited her to respond to our questions about the company's business model and ethics. Ultimately, she chose not to provide us with any commentary prior to our publishing deadline. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Reenita M Hora, author of the book Vermilion Harvest. Reenita is a founder, executive-level content, operations, and marketing leader, and prolific writer. With multiple years of experience in media, entertainment, communications, tech/innovation and wellness industries in the USA and Asia, she grows organizations, ranging from early-stage startups through mid-size businesses, through storytelling, creative marketing and business strategy. She has served as Head of Marketing at SRI International, Silicon Valley's pioneer science and deep tech research institute, VP of Content at hibooks/Otto Radio producer/presenter for Bloomberg and award-winning host for RTHK Radio 3 in Hong Kong. Reenita founded, built and sold Ayoma, a health and wellness brand, and has written seven books - five non-fiction and two fiction. She has contributed to The Hindu, South China Morning Post, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, CNN, Asian Investor, Times of India and National Geographic Kids, Cartoon Network Asia, Disney and more. She is a limited partner in the How Women Invest fund which specifically invests in women owned companies. She is working on her next novel and has recently launched Chapter by episode, a digital publishing platform for immersive chat fiction stories with diverse themes. In my book review, I stated Vermilion Harvest by Reenita M. Hora is a historical fiction set in 1919 India during the time of Ghandi's peaceful resistance. As I read historical fiction, I realize how much history I know very little about. Of course, I have heard of Ghandi, but I knew nothing of General Dyer or his attack at the Jallianwallah Bagh. Although fiction, this novel helped me understand the goings-ons prior to, during, and immediately following this attack that eventually changed the fate of the nation. Reenita did an amazing job with her characters Aruna, who is an Anglo-Indian schoolteacher, and Ayaz, a Muslim law student with political leanings - as well as a host of minor characters. I also loved how she didn't shy away from difficult topics like British rule that kept the Indian population as nothing more than slaves, the tension between three different religions in the region, romance between those of different backgrounds, the plight of Anglo-Indians, single mothers, standing strong in the face of adversity, and more. Finally, I loved a philosophy put forth that good often comes from bad. It is something I needed to hear. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Gregory Grosvenor, author of the book Second Pocket First. Author Gregory Grosvenor grew up in Ansbach, Germany. He moved to the US, earning an MFA from Old Dominion University. For two decades, he has taught writing and the art of the short story at various colleges in Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts. Grosvenor currently lives in Somerville, Massachusetts with his three cats, Dinah, Theo, and Bramlet Abercrombie. Second Pocket First is his debut novel. Grosvenor is available for readings, interviews, podcasts, speaking engagements, and book signings. In my book review, I stated Second Pocket First is humorous mystery that is heavy on the humor. The protagonist, Issey, is a thief. However, Issey is more concerned about the artistic and creative nature of thieving rather than the items themselves - which makes him a less than ideal crook. You see, he pays more attention to his hat, his gloves, and his lock pickers than to the items he steals. And he often breaks the items on the way home because he carelessly tosses them into a duffle bag. Issey finds himself back in his hometown where the need to steal from people first began, offering the reader great flashbacks into Issey's early years, as well as getting to meet people who knew him as a child. And suddenly, through no fault of his own, he becomes a hero - and everything about his life changes. He's respectable. He has a romantic partner. He has business cards. Now what? I loved the humor throughout and found this to be an enjoyable read. Dr. Drew Pinsky (Chief Patient Officer, The Wellness Company, and Podcast Host, "Ask Dr. Drew") joins Chris Cuomo for a wide-ranging conversation about what went wrong during the pandemic and how science was hijacked by politics. Drew explains why mandates lacked bioethical standing, why “irrational certitude” is so dangerous, and why “rational uncertainty” must be at the heart of science. They also discuss long Covid and vaccine injuries, the collapse of trust in institutions, and how arrogance replaced humility in public health. Dr. Drew warns about the dangers of narcissism, scapegoating, and mob thinking, and shares why the pessimism of young people scares him the most. At the same time, he talks about what gives him hope — resilience, families, and the possibility of finding meaning in difficult times. It's a strange kind of exhaustion—working harder than ever yet feeling like you're stuck in the same spot. The price of everything climbs, your paycheck seems to shrink, and those high-risk “opportunities” just drain more energy than they're worth. It's not just about money anymore; it's about the constant pressure, the sense that life is passing by while you're caught in the grind. The thought of a system quietly building for you, without constant babysitting or sleepless nights, feels almost unreal—but it's the kind of calm most people are secretly chasing. https://youtu.be/GTvZPIAhgPk?si=6MgBZYX7CoM9gmyl Casey Stubbs, host of Replace Your Income with Options and author of the Freedom Income Options Substack, has over 30 years in trading. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Twila Mason, author of the book Piece by Piece. Twila is an award-winning romance author. She has been writing her own stories since she learned how to read. She is a writer of romance, women's fiction, poetry, and short stories. Her work explores raw emotions and the complexities of life while finding the hope within every obstacle. After obtaining a PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology, she switched gears to follow her lifelong dream of putting her fictional stories out into the world. She lives the rural, small-town life in Missouri with her husband, two kids, and menagerie of animals. When she's not reading or writing, Twila can be found crafting, farming, doing home improvement projects, or going on adventures with her family. In my book review, I stated Piece by Piece is a friends-to-lovers contemporary romance that takes a hard look at the drug culture - and what it does to families. Aria spends her childhood looking after her baby brother, Ben, because her mother simple cannot. As a drug addict, she is often high, always unreliable, and rarely offers motherly support. When her mother spends the rent money, Aria arrives home to find the family is now on the street. She turns to an old friend, Luke, who found a way out of the old neighborhood. Although there is an immediate spark between them, Luke and Aria dance around the attraction because neither is ready to commit. We get front row seats as we watch them battle their demons and navigate a new world where peace, hope, and love have a chance to exist. As completely foreign concepts, neither one really knows what to do when life isn't a battlefield. That's not to say everything is easy. Moving past trauma and finding the right path is not easy. Nor is forgiveness - of others or of self. And what to do when the ones you should love are the ones that keep hurting you? This story is sweet as two young people fall in love. But it is also edgy as we see what happens when drugs and alcohol cause childhood trauma and can easily create a family cycle of abuse. He explains how to build confidence, engage your audience, and manage guests like a pro. Discover how to prepare effectively, create a welcoming environment for your guests, master active listening, deliver your podcasts with the right level of energy and fully engage your audience. Join our 3-day Podcasting event in Peterborough! – Get in touch for details! Use email: podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk Episode Takeaways Your energy is important. If you speak in a monotone, in a low tone most people will automatically switch off mentally and click away. On the other hand, being over the top will also turn people off. Louie explains how to keep your energy high enough. Train yourself to be an active listener. Louie explains how to do that and react when your guest says something you want them to elaborate on. Preparation is vital. It helps your confidence and creates the mental head space to actively listen to your guest. It enables you to be truly present instead of constantly thinking about what you are going to say next. Pause briefly each time your guest stops speaking. If they have something else to say they will be able to do so without your talking over them. It also gives you and your audience time to think. BEST MOMENTS “Tip number one is all about energy, tone and pacing. Make sure, as a host, that you are constantly thinking about how your energy is coming across.” “Listen back to yourself and see how you feel or get some feedback from a listener and then react accordingly.” “Try and be as quiet as humanly possible whilst the other person's speaking, so you're not disrupting the airwaves.” "Make sure that they (your guests) are comfortable, make sure they know that they can pause. Make sure they know that you can edit things out. Make sure that you guide them through it. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Jo Taylor, author of the book Margaret of Thibodaux. Jo is an obstreperous, retired ER Nurse who is likely an obstreperous writer too. She grew up with three stepmothers (not at the same time). She's lived on a boat and traced her genealogy back to the year 310 (maybe, probably, you know how genealogy is). She's been married for 33 years and all her hero characters are based on her husband, a hero in real life. Her first book, Postcards: Collected Poems and Short Stories, came out in July 2024. Margaret of Thibodaux, her first novel, released on March 18, 2025. In Carole's book review, she stated: 14-year-old Margaret is not going to let her father erase the memory of her deceased mother by bringing another woman (certainly not a stepmother) into their home. Her best friend, Honey tries to convince her there's nothing to worry about. The new woman is a doctor after all, loved by the entire town. But for the past six years her mother has appeared at her feet and lulled her to sleep with her favorite lullaby. Margaret is convinced that couldn't possibly continue if another woman occupies the master bedroom. Jo Taylor masters this coming-of-age story which takes place in Louisiana during the summer of 1974. You can almost feel the heat of the bayou as Margaret and her friends solve the problems of the world on the swings at the water's edge. The local town medium is the one person Margaret feels can help her contact her mother to make sure their routine won't change. But no medium, or talk with friends, or even pleading with her father can assure her things will be fine. It isn't until she finds a poem at her mother's grave that she begins on a path to a solution she can live with. This is a story you'll want to put on your TBR list. Are you really into Astrology or Numerology? Do you ever wonder about the numerology of the names of certain things like streets or businesses? And do you ever think about the astrology of certain days and if that makes them a good day to start a project or finish a certain task? Yeah, well so do we! It is one of our favorite rabbit holes. So in this episode we dive ALL the way in. Chandra looks into the numerology of our names; the name of the show (Ohm-g Podcast) and the cheeky name we use to loving refer to us 4 crazy witches (Woo Crew) Camille pulls out all the planetary stops and runs our chart based on the date our first episode aired. And Chandra finishes up by creating a numerology blueprint based on that same “birth date” Spoiler alert…. We're a ruling 7 (intuition & gut instinct) and we have a Scorpio stellium. I guess you didn't have to be particularly intuitive to see that coming. Take a listen to the full episode to get all the tea on why we might just be the perfect balance of grounded and astral. Megyn Kelly, currently host of The Megyn Kelly Show, a talk show and podcast that airs daily on Sirius XM's Triumph channel and has over 3.6 million subscribers on YouTube, makes her return to the program to talk about her upcoming live tour, inspired by Tucker Carlson's, where she'll engage audiences in cities nationwide alongside figures like Charlie Kirk, Ben Shapiro, and Donald Trump Jr. She addresses criticism that she's aligned with anti-Israel voices, firmly rejecting the charge and reaffirming her support for Israel while noting the country is losing the PR war and needs to resolve the conflict. The conversation shifts to crime, where Kelly argues that post–George Floyd policies, fueled by BLM, have endangered American cities by weakening law enforcement and bail standards. She advocates a return to tough-on-crime approaches, praises Trump's efforts to send federal help to cities, and criticizes Democratic governors for refusing assistance out of partisan hatred. The interview closes with promotion of her tour stop in White Plains, NY, this November. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Bo Dietl, Red Apple Podcast Host, calls in for his weekly Tuesday morning hit with Sid to rant about the upcoming mayoral race in New York City and his strong opposition to Zohran Mamdani, whom he described as a dangerous, radical candidate. Dietl praises Curtis Sliwa as the only contender who aligns with Donald Trump's values on law and order, opposing bail reform and sanctuary city policies. He criticizes other candidates for attacking one another instead of exposing Mamdani's record, urging financial and public support for efforts like his NYC ABM (Anyone But Mamdani) campaign. Dietl also ties the issue to broader national and international concerns, drawing parallels to rising socialism, the threat of crime, and support for Israel after October 7. He closes by calling on New Yorkers to fight for their city rather than flee, insisting that Curtis Sliwa—despite critics—offers incorruptible leadership focused on public safety. I want to hear your thoughts about the show and this episode. Text us here...I just returned from a weekend in New York City, and it stirred up more than I expected. Between a $24 martini, a glam squad at the hotel, and the reminder of life waiting for me back home, I found myself reflecting on the roles we play — and how old patterns have a way of resurfacing, even when we think we've outgrown them.In this episode, I talk about what it feels like to live in two worlds: the confident entrepreneur I've worked so hard to become and the daughter who sometimes slips back into old family dynamics. If you've ever felt torn between who you are now and the roles you used to play, this conversation is for you.A peek into my NYC adventure — glam squads, brand photos, and sticker shock. The reality of caregiving for an aging parent while running a business. How old roles and behaviors can creep back in, even when we think we've outgrown them. Why living in “two worlds” is actually part of our growth. The importance of embracing the messy middle instead of chasing perfection.I would love to hear your thoughts on my thoughts in this episode.
