We also read a submission from someone who's boyfriend still hasn't said “I love you” after three years of dating. We then get to our callers.  Our first caller is catching feelings for her prison pen pal. After coming across his videos on TikTok, they've been messaging and video-chatting for months. She now has the opportunity to visit him in-person in jail, and is wondering if she should follow through or not. Our second caller is worried she'll get back together with her revenge situationship. Her ex-husband is getting re-married soon, and it looks like everything is going right for him. She's anxious her jealousy and loneliness will drive her back into the arms of her toxic ex, and is wondering how to overcome these feelings. Our final callers are getting married in a month, and just had their matron of honor and best man dump them. This week, fiancés Ryan Tyler (@cookwithryan) and Michael Mugo (@moo.go) grace the podcast with their adorableness and undeniable love for one another. This chef and accountant not only look amazing together, but also show us that relationships are so much better when adventure and friendship are at the forefront. Check them out on IG and show them some love! TRIGGER WARNING - Marko and Tony sit down to talk about a problem plaguing the LGBTQ+ community: intimate partner violence. So many queer relationships are experiencing abuse at the hands of their partner and the Critellis try to figure out why.  Then, the guys are joined at the Virtual Critable by the host of the Surviving Abuse Podcast, David Keck (@survivingabusepodcast). TRIGGER WARNING - David sits with Marko and Tony to recount an evening of karaoke and drinks with friends that ended with him as the victim of a hate crime. Happy Celiac Awareness Month!  This is the first episode of the month and that means I get to discuss a variety of different topics about celiac disease and the gluten free diet with Ellen Bayens of theceliacscene.com.  Ellen and I chat about a Canadian study on the expense and social challenges of the gluten free diet.  The study looks at the myth of the diet for weight loss as well as some positive trends with those of us eating gluten free.  Ellen introduces me to Gnu Sante, a company making “lunchbox friendly” smoothies for kids that are gluten free and actually good for them.  Ellen and I talk very briefly about the suitability of a plant-based diet for those of us eating gluten free.  I acknowledged that this is a big subject, and deserves its own podcast episode – something Ellen and I will arrange in the near future.  Two very resourceful ladies came into focus on this episode – Selena Devries RD and Cinde Little.  Both have large followings on social media – Selena for her professional help with the gluten free diet and Cinde for her new “Healthy Me” course as well as her recipes and videos.  Since May is Celiac Awareness Month, I tease Ellen with some of the activities I'm involved with, including recipe videos and a curbside gluten free food drive. We are Jeff and Terra Mattson, a husband and wife team who is helping leaders live with integrity. We started @living_wholehearted ten years ago to bring professional counseling and consulting to leaders who felt alone in the work they do both at home and in their work spaces. Now, we have a team of professionals, books, @mycourageousgirls, and this podcast. Though we share a passion for people, we are oldest children trying to play nice in our marriage. (wink) Our humanity gets in the way, just like yours. But we have learned a few things over our 23 years together. In episode #65, we share how we fell in love and decided to marry. We met at @seattle_pacific and resisted the “ring-by-spring” phenomenon of Christian universities, marrying one week after Terra’s graduation! In this episode, you’ll find Jeff tearing up as he shares the impact of his grandparents after 73 years of marriage. Coming from a divorced home, their example is the one that continues to inspire our marriage today. Whether marriage, dating, or wanting to be married, there is something in this episode for you. So, when it comes to honoring the relationships in your life, how do you speak the truth and be loving instead of harsh? Here’s a rule of thumb I like to use in my relationships: the Golden Rule. Treat others as you would want to be treated. It's so simple, right? But it's so hard to do because you can't control how someone treats you. What you can control is how you treat them. You can do unto others as you would have them do unto you. To break it down even further, here are three really simple and tactical things you can do to put the Golden Rule into practice when it comes to your relationships: Appreciate everything. Believe the best. Communicate everything.   Here’s the Real Problem With Your Relationships with Les Parrott Today on the show, I’m chatting with my good friend and bestselling author Les Parrott. Les just published a new book called Healthy Me, Healthy Us. I’m loving it, and I know you will too. Les and I talked about his new book and what it looks like to honor your relationships. Here are a few highlights: Our relationships can only be as healthy as we are. Every one of us has a choice to change. Instead of finding the right person, we need to focus on becoming the right person. We have to overcome the “disease to please.” It’s essential that we learn to live with empathy.   Are You Getting This Right? “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” — Matthew 7:12 (NIV) We've been talking a lot about honoring your relationships. We know we can't control other people, but we can control ourselves. So, I want to ask you a few questions to help you put this into practice: When is it really hard for you to “do unto others as you would have them do unto you?” What type of person do you want to be? What are the characteristics that you want to display? Write down five. How can you practice those qualities (even when it's hard)? Welcome to The Healthy Me episode number 033… I'm Trina Felber, Registered Nurse and CEO of Primal Life Organics. Today, I'm going to explain the difference between LED light and UV light. There's a lot of confusion around the difference between these two types of light – and which are harmful – so I'm here to clear the air. I have a tooth whitening system that uses blue and red LED light. Although it does whiten teeth, it actually does way more than that. Let me explain. In my tooth whitening system, the blue LED lights work to kill bad bacteria in the mouth without destroying your natural biome. The red light does to your mouth what red light therapy does to your body; it speeds wound healing, relieves pain, increases circulation, prevents sores, and rejuvenates tissue. UV (Ultraviolet) light, alternatively, can cause cancer and premature aging. It also causes damage to the skin, eyes, and immune system. LED light does not, I repeat, DOES NOT contain any UV light. The tooth whitener plus my Boost Whitening Paste is a powerful little duo – the blue and red LED lights combined with the ingredients in the paste make for a healthier mouth and whiter smile. Today I empower you to further your research on LED and UV light to improve your oral health. ------------------

I talk a lot about the strong link between the gut and the skin: Skin issues can occur because of gut dysbiosis! What might surprise you is that, like the gut, the mouth has a microbiome! My colleague and friend Trina Felber joins me today to discuss how our oral care affects gut health and, by extension, the skin. Trina is the Creator and CEO of Primal Life Organics, a premier, all-natural dental care company that focuses on oral health as the gateway to internal health. She believes that the antiseptic products we use in our mouths are doing more harm than good! After more than 25 years as a registered nurse, Trina has transitioned into an oral health expert. She created natural products to biohack your dental health for stronger, cleaner, whiter teeth and improved overall health. Her entrepreneurial skills and business-savvy mindset are an inspiration to women everywhere.   In this episode, we debunk the notion that all bacteria is bad. Trina explains why good bacteria in the mouth is vital to our health, and how we can work on restoring our mouth microbiome.  Have you tried a natural oral care product? Tell us about it in the comments!   In this episode How working as a nurse in the burn unit impacted Trina's perspective and knowledge of the skin How does the oral microbiome affect the gut? Welcome to The Healthy Me episode number 16… I'm Trina Felber, Registered Nurse and CEO of Primal Life Organics.  Today I'm speaking with Trisha Nelson, an emotional eating expert who struggled with weight for her entire childhood. She understands and teaches others how to deal with the root cause of unhealthy eating habits. Trisha explains how food is used as a coping mechanism to deal with life's struggles, stress, and emotional pain. Emotional eaters tend to use food as a painkiller, as an escape, and/or to deal with guilt.  But the real myth here is that it's about the food. The reality is that, no matter what diet is followed or what results are seen, if the root cause of emotional eating isn't addressed, then the struggle will remain a constant battle in your life and food will remain the enemy. Trisha's mission is to teach people how to live without the crutch of food. She does this by encouraging routines that reduce stress like meditation and self-care, and making sure there are always healthy food options in the house. Shockingly, we're all emotional eaters because we're designed to have an emotional connection to food. The difference is how we manage it and remain in tune with ourselves and our emotions.  Today, I urge you to visit healyourhunger.com/freequiz to see where you land on the spectrum of emotional eating. From there, you can begin to address any unsettled relationship you might have with food.

Welcome to The Healthy Me episode number 15… I'm Trina Felber, Registered Nurse and CEO of Primal Life Organics.   It's important to put real food into our bodies, but just as important to put real food on our bodies, too. You may be eating healthy food, but what about your skincare products? Are they healthy, too?   Our skin is our largest organ, and it's easy to forget that it digests whatever we put on it, including harmful chemicals and fragrances, and can cause cancer and disease. Just flip over the bottle of your daily wash or moisturizer.   Do you know what those long, crazy ingredients are? They're carcinogens, harmful, and require a hazmat suit to handle.  Would you put that in your mouth? How about smearing it all over your skin? No, thank you!   After I miscarried my first baby at 7 weeks, I went on a mission to discover what I was introducing to my body that could be feeding my body (and baby!) harmful things. I learned that my skincare products were laden with chemicals and I began to research something out there that was better.   That's how my company, Primal Life Organics, was born. Now, I create food-based products that nourish skin, hair, and teeth without chemicals and without stripping away the body's natural ability to care for itself.

Welcome to The Healthy Me episode number 14… I'm Trina Felber, Registered Nurse and CEO of Primal Life Organics.    I'm excited to share something with you – something that even your dentist won't tell you.  It's about healing your teeth. That's right, you can heal your teeth! As a matter of fact, your dental health is actually a good indicator of your body's overall health.     You see, your teeth are living and go through the process of getting mineralized and demineralized. Mineralization occurs in the mouth with healthy foods and products that contain minerals that your teeth need.    Demineralization occurs when you orally ingest acidic, processed, sugary, and chemical-ridden foods, drinks, and products. Unfortunately, even conventional toothpastes contain chemicals that can leech minerals from your teeth and even put you at risk for cancer.    There is a very specific process that needs to take place for remineralization to occur, and I've made it easier with products like the Dirty Mouth Tooth Powder, which contain mineral-packed clay and naturally-derived nutrients.     This, paired with an alkaline and healthy diet, will help keep your teeth healthy because, as Soupy Sales said, if you “be true to your teeth, they won't be false to you”!

Welcome to The Healthy Me episode number 13… I'm Trina Felber, Registered Nurse and CEO of Primal Life Organics.     Most of us used conventional deodorants and antiperspirants for a good portion of our lives. But now that studies have shown that the aluminum in antiperspirants has been linked to cancer – especially breast cancer in women – we need something better that doesn't introduce heavy metals and chemicals into our bodies.     But we also need a deodorant that works. Has anyone else scoured the store for a healthy alternative just to find that they don't work or aren't as healthy as they say? I know I have.     Remember that your body sweats to release toxins, and if you're applying something that is anti-perspiring – blocking your sweat – you're preventing your body from doing its thing.     What we really need to do is cleanse the body from the inside out and deodorize the underarms without blocking those glands that are working so hard to detoxify you from the inside out.     Taking food-grade diatomaceous earth is an excellent way to detox the body of toxins and heavy metals. That, paired with unobstructed sweat glands, a clean diet, and some continuous gentle cleansing, will dramatically decrease the amount of heavy metals and toxins stored in your body.     Today, I challenge you to switch to healthier products that not only work, but are good for you, too.

Welcome to The Healthy Me episode number 11… I'm Trina Felber, Registered Nurse and CEO of Primal Life Organics.     Today I will be explaining how to prep your skin before putting makeup on. Then, I'll walk you through the best way to apply Primal Life Organics makeup.     I couldn't breakdown how to apply makeup without first making sure the canvas is ready! I love using the Ocean Face Wash, the Infiniti Toner, and my Beyond moisturizer to prep my skin. And I swear by the Quiver to further increase the absorption of the product's healing ingredients.     There are two ways to apply the makeup since it comes in powdered form. You can use it dry as a powder, or moisten it a little bit for bolder colors and more pigment. It's totally up to you.     The special thing about my makeup is that it's clay-based. Mineral makeups sound great in theory, but the problem is that the minerals are cleaned in chemicals which remain in the makeup you then apply to your skin. Not good.     Instead, my clay-based makeup detoxifies and supplements the skin with vitamins and minerals as you wear it. All the colors come from food, herbs, or flowers, so you don't have to worry about artificial colorings soaking into your skin.    Making the shift to natural makeup requires a little getting used to, but once you do, you'll see that it's easy, convenient, and so much better for you!

Welcome to The Healthy Me episode number 10… I'm Trina Felber, Registered Nurse and CEO of Primal Life Organics. Are you worried about your stink? Are you frustrated because the only thing that seems to “work” is your chemical-ridden deodorant or antiperspirant? Don't worry. There's hope. You see, your sweat isn't what stinks. It's the combination of natural bacteria on your skin plus the sweat that is excreted from your apocrine glands that causes odor. But your body needs to sweat, because that is it rids itself of toxins. Block your sweat, and you're essentially blocking your body's ability to remove waste and maintain a healthy and balanced ecosystem. This could lead to eventual dysfunction in other organs. Your body chemistry, menstrual cycle, emotional state, medications, health, diet, and even skincare products can all play a role in your body odor. The Stick Up deodorant doesn't contain any harmful ingredients that could be doing you more harm than good. You may go through a detox period, but if you reapply Stick Up throughout the day as needed, you can eventually move to just a once-a-day application.  Note how your body odor changes with diet and lifestyle shifts. This awareness, paired with Stick Up, will help you move towards a stink-free and healthier overall future.  Today I empower you to examine what you are ingesting - internally and externally – so that you can kick that stink while still letting your body do its thing.

The golden rule is 6 months – once they're opened. Most products, if used regularly, should last no longer than six months. Conventional products contain preservatives so they can be on the store's shelf for years, not yours.    Our products are made fresh so they don't have any preservatives and don't need them. If you aren't going to use a product for a while and want to keep it fresh, stick it in the back corner of the fridge.     The Banished line is the powerhouse for knocking out acne while the Beyond line addresses redness, scarring, and the effects of old and new acne. Together, they work to heal old and new acne for radiant skin.     Primal Life Organics sunscreens use natural ingredients like red raspberry seed oil, which has a natural SPF of 40-50 and protects against UVA and UVB rays. The Ultra Stick is great for kids and Sun Up is great for daily wear, even underneath makeup. The best part is that it also has antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and vitamins that heal your skin while protecting it.     I'll be answering more questions soon and hope you've benefited from the answers to these ones!

Welcome to The Healthy Me episode number 008… I'm Trina Felber, Registered Nurse and CEO of Primal Life Organics.   You may not know it, but brushing your teeth isn't simply about cleaning them. There's a lot more to your oral and dental health than that.   That's why I created Dirty Mouth Tooth Powder.   Your teeth are living. They need to be cleaned, yes, but that also means they can be healed or hurt.   There are many harmful chemicals in conventional toothpastes that do more harm to your teeth than good. This matters because we ingest an average of 20 gallons of toothpaste in a lifetime!   The first common harmful ingredient in toothpaste is triclosan. Another is sodium lauryl sulfate, which is linked to skin irritation and can cause canker sores. A byproduct of SLS is the carcinogen 1,4-dioxane.   Artificial sweeteners like aspartame are also common in toothpaste. And watch out for propylene glycol and DEA.   These ingredients are harmful to your body and disrupt your natural oral biome, which works to keep your teeth naturally strong and healthy.   Dirty Mouth Tooth Powder is gentle, cleansing, protective, whitening, and leaves your breath fresh. The 3 different clays and natural minerals in the powder detoxify your mouth without disrupting your oral biome. It replenishes the minerals in your teeth while whitening them.   And, best of all, it contains 100% active ingredients. This means no fillers and a little goes a long way. Just dip the tip of your moist toothbrush and voila!   Our charcoal formula detoxifies and whitens, the Happy Papillae copper tongue scraper aids in bad breath and bacteria removal, and the Dirty Mouth Boost Gum Serum restores your oral health and rebalances your natural oral biome.   Ditch the products you're currently using that do more harm than good. Check out our products to give your mouth a whole new experience – we've got free samples and starter sizes available for when you transition.

Welcome to The Healthy Me episode number 006… I'm Trina Felber, Registered Nurse and CEO of Primal Life Organics. The most important part of a woman's body also happens to be the most underappreciated: The vulva. Unfortunately, sometimes we women don't realize our feminine sexy is waning until it's already gone.  When our hormone production of natural progesterone starts to decline, menopause gradually creeps up on us.  For most women, menopausal symptoms like loss of desire, sex drive, and sexual sensation – even symptoms of PMS – are considered normal. Something to dread but is inevitable nonetheless. Even though menopause can't be avoided and is a part of life, there are ways to do it well and without suffering. How we maintain intimacy in our relationships, how we detoxify and avoid toxins, and how we balance our hormones can mean the difference between looking like a glowing goddess, and a sweating, grumpy mess.  And no one knows that menopausal sweet spot better than today's guest on The Healthy Me podcast, Dr. Anna Cabeca.  A gynecologist, obstetrician, and menopause and sexual health expert, Dr. Cabeca is passionate about helping women escape the suffering and stereotypes of menopause.  Although Dr. Cabeca now shared her expertise with others through online programs and hormone-balancing products, her mission began when doctors told her she'd “just have to live with” her symptoms of depression, hormone imbalance, weight gain, and chronic pain.  Rejecting this life sentence, Dr. Cabeca searched the world for ways to rediscover her health, happiness, and femininity. Through travels and extensive research, her life was transformed. Today, Dr. Cabeca lectures internationally, offers cutting-edge, science-backed programs and products like Julva, and shares her wisdom with clients around the world. She offers insight into what we can do – right now – to live, and age, with grace.

When it comes to tired and cliché expressions, there's one that holds more truth than all others:   Health is wealth.   Unfortunately, too few people recognize and appreciate the value of their health until it's taken away from them.   When joints stiffen, endurance wanes, and the acuity of the mind slips, that's when the average person begins to realize just how important their health really is.   For many, declining physical and cognitive performance are considered an inevitability. Something that happens to all enroute to a final resting place. And while that deterioration may be inevitable, how soon it beings to happen remains under our control to some degree.   How we eat, how we sleep, how we live, and how we detoxify can mean the difference between looking like a 30 year-old at the age of 40, and looking like a 40 year-old at the age of 30.   And few know that reality as well as today's guest on The Healthy Me podcast, Dr. Daniel Pompa.   A leader mind in the health and wellness industry, Dr. Pompa travels all over the world to talk about the root causes of debilitating diseases like diabetes, hypothyroidism, and various autoimmune disorders so people can more fully enjoy life from the womb to the tomb.   Though he is a licensed physician, Dr. Pompa's subject-matter expertise is rooted in personal experience with neurotoxic illness and heavy metal poisoning—an endeavor that battered him with chronic fatigue, unrelenting stress, and a prematurely thinning head of hair.   When conventional medicine suggested Dr. Pompa address the symptoms of his deterioration rather than their root cause, he took matters into his own hands by conducting an exhaustive study of cellular health, and what it takes to detoxify individual cells so the body can heal itself naturally.   Today, Dr. Pompa helps thousands of patients around the world by sharing the results of his exhaustive study, as well as the detoxification methods and processes he used to heal himself.

Welcome to The Healthy Me episode number 001… I'm Trina Felber, Registered Nurse and CEO of Primal Life Organics. That is how you create, empower and invite your HEALTHYME into your brain. I give you four steps to creating The Healthy Me. The first step is to create and develop your Healthy Me personality. The second step is to put that person two feet in front of you, AN ARMS LENGTH AWAY and that person forms a bubble around you for the next three-four months or longer, it doesn't matter. As long as it takes for that person. Every day, that bubble should be closing in on you until it's saran wrapping you, until the day you realize, I don't have to think about, I don't have to ask myself what would the healthy me do. Every question on day one, two, and three, when your mind remembers that healthy me is there, every question needs to ask "What would the healthy me do? What would the healthy me do? What would the healthy me do? What would the healthy me say, think, eat? How would the healthy me react? Would the healthy me answer the phone right now, or would the healthy me take care of myself? What would the healthy me do? As that bubble gets closer and closer, you will become that personality. You will have altered your brain. You may have moments of weakness, but you will never have to put that person two feet out again if you call them back up very quickly. The third step is going to bed at night. You need to focus on who you want to be when you wake up, how you're going to wake up, and tell your brain to go to sleep. Tell your brain sleep deep, REM, all night. Okay? The fourth Step is to take a breather. Close your eyes, and uplift your mouth. If you do this often enough, you will notice as you live your day, that you will automatically hold your mouth in a smile, and your energy will be so much higher. Today I am empowering you with Four Simple Steps To Creating A Healthier YOU!
