In this episode, I have the privilege of speaking with renowned dating and relationship coach and three-time author Persia Lawson. Growing up, Persia's parents struggled with drug addiction. To escape the challenging emotions, she focused on becoming an overachiever, and as part of her subconscious coping mechanism, she found herself leaning into an addiction to sex and love. She became well-practised at sabotaging any chance of a happy relationship – either by cheating on the nice boyfriends or going out with dysfunctional ‘bad boys'. Persia's rock bottom moment came in her mid-twenties when she became the victim of sexual assault. Following this incident, she put on two stone in weight which prompted her concerned dad to take her away to a health retreat in Thailand. Whilst there, he gave Persia some advice that changed the entire trajectory of her life. These words were the launch pad she needed to leverage all her overachiever energy towards healing the real root of all her romantic dilemmas. Today Persia will be gracious enough to share her incredible story and offer the wisdom of what she has learned. Highlights:

Fast forward to December 2019 and he's delivering resilience workshops to global organisations. Back then he believed that resilience was the ability to keep going no matter what, to avoid any struggle and show up. That ideal drove him to a place where he felt the best thing to do for his children was to take his own life. Today, I have the pleasure of saying he has a new idea of resilience. One that is fluid, which allows him to struggle and ask for help. One that allows him to keep his head up and shoulders back despite his internal struggles. One that embraces vulnerability and keeps him reachable. One that helps him to understand what he feels, know what he needs as a result and be able to communicate that within his activities and relationships. Rather than driving him to suicide, this idea of resilience has helped to deliver emotional resilience training to village primary schools and global brands alike. Josh doesn't believe he's a new person, he's the same person, with the same emotions. The difference today lies within what he does with the energy of those emotions. Dana believes that it's only when you truly understand how the brain and the body, work that you can take control of your mental health. She aims to empower people by providing them with an understanding of how your brain and body work and get answers to why you're feeling low, anxious and withdrawn, and why you have no energy. At that point, she can help overcome these feelings using food, movement, sleep, stress management, supplementation and more. Dana's education and experience have proven that there's so much you can do to feel your very best and achieve a clearer mind, long-lasting energy, and freedom from the cloud of depression or choke of anxiety that is common in today's society. Kick Lee landed in music production by sheer accident, after studying graphic design and discovering he wasn’t made for the corporate world. He grew up listening to music and has since become a fan of a number of genres, from bluegrass and country to hip-hop and EDM. We talk about his process for creating tracks from scratch, how music licensing works, and why he decided to make music his career (spoiler: it was when he got a $10K check for one gig!). We also discuss: - His experience at Full Sail University and why it was one of the best decisions he made. - Being a Black man with diverse tastes and talents, and the content that inspires him - The difference between exclusive vs non-exclusive licensing, and royalty back-end payments - What agencies and large companies look for when sourcing music for campaigns - Plans for KL Studios, his new recording and production studio designed to empower communities through sound - His affinity for Batman (?!?!)
