Patriotism isn't partisan; it's a celebration of our shared values. In this week's episode of the Marketing Boost Solutions Podcast, we're diving into more inspiring stories. Join me in welcoming Philip Anthony Oakley, a distinguished veteran with a 22-year career in the United States Army as a military policeman and intelligence officer. Phil's journey is one of dedication, resilience, and transformation, leading to his success as an entrepreneur and organizer of the Patriot Fest music festival. Phil's story didn't end with his military retirement in January 2005; it merely shifted battlegrounds. From teaching Military Science at the National Intelligence University to founding successful companies like i3ICS, i3 Federal, and C2 Records, Phil embodies the spirit of service and innovation. With over 15 years of experience leading agile companies, he has integrated commercial solutions into the Federal Government, selling over $600 million in IT solutions and securing prime contracts with the GSA and NASA SEWP. Beyond his business ventures, Phil dedicates time to veteran-related organizations, making a significant impact off the field. He also shares insights from his book "Dying Confession," which blends drama and comedy to depict military life and the bonds formed therein. In this episode, we explore Phil Oakley's family background, his entrepreneurial ventures, and the significance of patriotism beyond political affiliations. Let's talk Neil Woodford  Many of you will know Phil Oakley from the quality of the research, investment articles and investing presentations he has delivered and completed over the years. For those few of you that are not familiar with Phil you can find the  comprehensive interview with him here (https://www.conkers3.com/phil-oakley/)   that he gave on #CONKERSCORNER of his own insightful journey in the Investment industry and beyond. His insights and knowledge are sought after by institutions and private investors alike. Phil is currently the Associate Editor of the Investors Chronicle magazine. This has culminated in Neil Woodford/Woodford Funds stopping investors from withdrawing their own money the Woodford Equity Income Fund. This suspension of access to funds has caused outrage and anger from large institutions, private investors and even the Fund Management industry. There is even talk of a potential formal probe by the FCA into the actions taken by the Woodford Funds. In this exclusive interview with Phil, who is a big fan of investing in quality companies over the long-term, we discuss the recent developments at Woodford Funds. In particular, its impact and the lessons learnt, as well as what could and should be done across the Fund industry going forward. First Aid Kit - My silver lining. Madonna - Into the groove. Welcome to the 22nd SHARE TALK’S CONKERS’ CORNER recorded on 8th July 2016. In this interview I have the pleasure of speaking with Phil Oakley @PhilJOakley. Phil is an Investment analyst at ShareScope. Phil never envisaged a career in the Investment industry, however his love for numbers and Economics led to him doing a couple of Degrees. After he graduated with a MSc in International Banking, Economics & Finance from Liverpool Business School in 1996, Phil went to work for BWD Rensburg, a Liverpool based investment manager. In 2001, he joined ABN AMRO as a transport analyst. After a brief spell as a food retail analyst, he spent five years with ABN’s very successful UK Smaller Companies team where he covered engineering, transport and support services stocks. In 2007, Phil joined Halbis Capital Management as a European equities analyst. However after thirteen years of working for both stockbroking and Fund Management companies Phil knew that he had to get out of the industry. Underlying this was also Phil’s passion for writing and research and the realisation that he wanted to educate private investors. In 2010 Phil went to work as the Senior Investment Writer for MoneyWeek magazine. He remained there for three years before being headhunted for his writing, research and analytical skills by Tim Clarke, who was General Manager of ShareScope. Phil has been instrumental in helping the software designers at ShareScope put together both the more recent ShareScope evolving platform and the SharePad software platform. He has also been writing educational articles for the ShareScope website https://www.sharescope.co.uk/index.jsp Britain’s best-selling investment software. Listen now to gain insights into how Phil invests and learn from the lessons in his investing journey.

My guest on the podcast today is Phil Oakley, author of the new book How to Pick Quality Shares. Phil is an investment analyst and private investor. He works for Ionic Information, the makers of the market-leading ShareScope and SharePad software for private investors. Phil spent 13 years as a professional investment analyst, with ten years working for fund managers and stockbrokers in the City. He left the City in 2009 and began writing educational articles for private investors. He was senior investment writer for MoneyWeek for three years before starting his current role. In his new book, How to Pick Quality Shares, Phil provides a three-step process for analysing company financial information to find good investments. This process covers finding quality companies; avoiding dangerous or risky companies; and not paying too much for companies’ shares. By applying the in-depth techniques described in the book, investors will have a fuller understanding of how companies really work, and will develop an edge over other investors, including professional investors and analysts. In this episode of Informed Choice Radio, I talk to Phil about what investors should be looking for, what are the warning signs that might be particularly risky or even dangerous for an investor and much more.
