“Sexual dysfunction can be classified into four categories: sexual desire disorders, arousal disorders, orgasm disorders, and pain disorders. Dysfunction among men and women are studied in the fields of andrology and gynecology respectively.[6] Sexual dysfunction is difficulty experienced by an individual or partners during any stage of normal sexual activity, including physical pleasure, desire, preference, arousal, or orgasm. The World Health Organization defines sexual dysfunction as a "person's inability to participate in a sexual relationship as they would wish".[1] This definition is broad and is subject to many interpretations.[2] A diagnosis of sexual dysfunction under the DSM-5 requires a person to feel extreme distress and interpersonal strain for a minimum of six months (except for substance- or medication-induced sexual dysfunction). Sexual dysfunction can have a profound impact on an individual's perceived quality of sexual life.[3] The term sexual disorder may not only refer to physical sexual dysfunction, but to paraphilias as well; this is sometimes termed disorder of sexual preference. A thorough sexual history and assessment of general health and other sexual problems (if any) are important when assessing sexual dysfunction, because it is usually correlated with other psychiatric issues, such as mood disorders, eating and anxiety disorders, and schizophrenia.[4][5][2] Assessing performance anxiety, guilt, stress, and worry are integral to the optimal management of sexual dysfunction. Many of the sexual dysfunctions that are defined are based on the human sexual response cycle proposed by William H. Masters and Virginia E. Johnson, and modified by Helen Singer Kaplan.” -Wikipedia. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/support

Happy Holidays! Lauren and Trey kick off this episode with a long conversation about arousal and erections! Lauren gives a quick anatomy lesson - sharing what IS and is NOT normal for a penis in a sexual encounter! Then they accidentally stumble into a hilarious discussion about porn, film sets, and fluffers. When Trey expresses doubts that fluffers even exist, Lauren gets SO embarrassed. It's worth the watch for sure. After normalizing different levels of “hardness” and the various things that can lead to lack of an erection, Lauren and Trey discuss the role of attraction and the wisdom of our bodies that we may sometimes be ignoring, just to get laid. Trey tells of a few sexual encounters where an erection was hard to maintain, but as he likes to say, "sex is like pizza, even when it's bad, it's still pretty good." They discuss the critical importance of hygiene in sexual encounters and reveal Lauren's lack of love for showering! Trey asks her if there's anything on his body that can repel her, and Lauren admits that a scratchy 5-o'clock shadow or bad breath can be a big turn off. Trey shares that if his feelings have been hurt, his penis is not going up, after Lauren asks him if there's anything she's ever done to turn him off emotionally. They then explain that they do not have a transactional sexual relationship in which either of them is required to “drop trou.” Lauren rounds out the topic sharing that criticism is a major turn-off for her, because it makes her question her own comfort in her own skin. After spending the majority of the podcast discussing arousal of the penis, Lauren spends a few minutes describing what a lack of arousal can feel like in the vulva and in the body of the vulva owner. She describes the most recent time she experienced dry mouth while in a sexual relationship she should have left. They close out this episode talking the smallest bit about vaginismus and dyspareunia, but that conversation will be continued next week! Physician Assistant and prior C&P examiner Leah Bucholz discusses Female Sexual Arousal Disorder and VA Disability.Leah Bucholz discusses Female Sexual Arousal Disorder (FSAD), a common condition among female veterans that often leads them to seek VA service connections. She explains how FSAD can be associated with other service-connected disabilities like PTSD, depression, anxiety, and the side effects of medications like SSRIs. FSAD falls under the broader category of female sexual disorders, which also includes disorders related to sexual desire, aversion, orgasm, and pain. Treatment options vary, including counselling, specialized therapies, and sometimes medications like intranasal prolactin or low-dose testosterone, although the effectiveness and appropriateness of these treatments can vary. Leah emphasizes that women with FSAD, related to their military service, may be eligible for special monthly compensation under the category of loss of use of a reproductive organ, similar to erectile dysfunction in men. This compensation is usually around $110 monthly, in addition to any other service-connected benefits. If you would like more information on our services including Independent Medical Opinion Letters often referred to as nexus letters and records review, please check us out here: https://www.prestigeveteranmctx.com/#veterans #va #medical

Welcome to episode #156!  Matt and Braden clarify the difference between sexual arousal and desire and explain why knowing the difference matters.Arousal is a bodily reactionSexual arousal is a natural thing that happens in healthy bodies. We often gets aroused as a response to touch because this is how God made us. We might get aroused by something that we don't have sexual desire towards. Knowing that there is a difference matters because otherwise, we might think that we sexually desire a person or thing that has gotten us aroused. In reality, sexual desire is separate that a simple bodily response due to arousal.Arousal is a bad leaderListening to our sexual arousal to determine our behaviour is a recipe for disaster. This is what animals with no impulse control do, but God has given us the ability to withhold acting on arousal.Pursuing sexual encounters simply because we're aroused creates confusion when our body feels momentarily satisfied, but our mind and heart feel a heavy nagging feeling that comes from stepping outside of what God says is best.Sexual desire can be godly or pervertedWhen we spend so much time acting on arousal, we might start to believe that our sexual desires all revolve around the fetishes that we see in pornography or in other people. In reality, God has put healthy sexual desires in each of us. To live these desires out, we need to know what desires come from God and what comes from our mistakes or cultural influences in our lives.Sexual desires are from God and shouldn't lead us into shame, but rather into a freedom in our soul. This will help us understand that arousal isn't our leader, but that the Holy Spirit can guide us to act on our godly sexual desires in one way or another.Share this with your friendsWho do you know that can benefit from this podcast and other episodes coming in the future? Ahh, the vagus nerve. It's funny how this nerve has basically become its own kind of celebrity. I mean, who would have ever thought that a nerve could gain such popularity and trending hashtags? But it has, and for good reason. Not only does the vagus nerve comprise 75% of our parasympathetic nervous systems*, but it's also the longest cranial nerve (meaning the longest nerve that travels from the brain into the body). And this nerve impacts everything from our breathing to our heart rate to our digestion to our arousal! But there are also some risks and concerns we should consider before we go all in on vagal toning, some of which may surprise you. Listen to the episode to learn:basics on the vagus nerve (anatomy, relationship to organs)why vagal response is not always a good thingsimple ways to enhance your vagal tonewhich pelvic organs the vagus nerve innervateswhy heart rate variability is important to trackhow the vagus nerve relates to sexual function and arousalwhy you want both sympathetic + parasympathetic activity for sexspecific ways to enhance your pleasure using vagal toningResources:FREE GUIDE: Track your cycle naturally (fertility awareness)Today's shownotes: Check out the references + resourcesEpisode 17: How stress messes with your hormonesEpisode 19: The importance of softening with Chaya Leia AronsonEpisode 39: Jade eggs and the practice of pleasure with Usha RoseEpisode 52: Beyond aphrodisiacs: Herbal approaches to enhance pleasure* I say 80% in the episode, but it's really 75%!If you loved this episode, share it with a friend, or take a screenshot and share on social media and tag me @herbalwombwisdom.  And if you love this podcast, leave a rating & write a review! To start I want to let you know this podcast will be a little different. One that I hope will be helpful for you.I am going to talk about the difference between arousal and desire. The reason that's so important for us to recognize is that when we feel arousal towards something that we know we don't want, it can produce an amount of shame for us.If you're pursuing sexual integrity, if you're trying to walk away from unwanted sexual behaviors, the fact that those behaviors are unwanted means you desire something more for yourself, your family and for your life than the sexual sin that's entangled you.Today is not going to be very prescriptive in the sense of offering you three steps to this or that. But I'd like to share with you what happened to me recently and how I dealt with it in the hopes that it will be useful for you and help you see things that you might want to do differently.Outline:The difference between arousal and desire. I want people to be free from pornography. Slow down your thinking and not rush. Breathing deep breaths. The importance of picturing Jesus in different scenes. Fleeing sexual temptation.Help the show:Support the showAsk a question by emailing usLeave a reviewSubscribe wherever you get your podcastsFollow us on YouTube for behind the scenes and more.

Have you ever noticed yourself feeling hornier than usual when you travel? If so, you're not alone. Being away from home seems to put a lot of people in the mood for sex. So why is that? The answer is actually surprisingly complex. A whole host of factors change when we go on vacation or take a trip and--together--they have the potential to create far more opportunities for sexual desire and arousal to set in than we typically experience at home. So let's talk about travel horniness! In this episode, I discuss the biological, psychological, and social factors that underlie this phenomenon, including: How many people fantasize about sex and travel, such as having sex on the beach, in an airplane, or in a hotel room. How engaging in novel, non-sexual activities on vacation can amplify sexual arousal. How our mindset changes when we escape our home environment. How substance use changes when we're on vacation. How the people we travel with influences our sexual behavior. Why exposure to more sunlight on vacation can make us hornier. In addition to exploring the psychology behind travel horniness, I discuss my recent visit to the Icelandic penis museum, which is a fascinating place.
